Chapter two hundred and twelve

Author's POV

Ryan arrived just as Lucy had said he would and was surprised to see the party in chaos, he traced where Lucy was surprised to see her with Chloe whose eyes were red rimmed, quite obvious that she'd been crying.

He stared from one woman to the other. Something wasn't right, he could feel it.

"What's going on?" He asked Lucy crossing over to her side. Seems like his question prompted Chloe to start crying afresh. Lucy stared up at her husband with a tired and worn out look.

"Chloe's babies were kidnapped," She said and Ryan furrowed his brows. Kidnapped? He'd imagined something else, of Liam not showing up but he never thought it was her babies.

Fuck!

"Any idea where they are? Or who took them?" He asked, running his fingers through his hair. This isn't supposed to happen to Chloe on her special day.

"It's Jax.. well, he got assistance from Mendy of course" Lucy said and Ryan sighed.

He knew Mendy was Chloe's sister and from

Chapter two hundred and thirteen Epilogue Author's POV "You're not!... Don't! For goodness sake, you both should stop splashing water everywhere!" Chloe yelled at her children, obviously frustrated as they kept laughing and splashing water everywhere. The tub was overfilled with water and was even spilling. She pinched the space between her brows before groaning. "Mummy, look what I can do" Her almost three-year-old son, called her attention. She stared at him and he made the biggest splash, his sister giggled. "I can do that too," She said and Chloe shook her head. "No... You won't..." She was halfway through her sentence when her daughter went ahead splashing water that even soaked Chloe. She let out a shriek, while both children laughed. "Liam!!" She called. She was so not doing this anymore. The kids were nuisances and a pain in the ass. It'd be better if their father handled them himself. "Li..." The door opened and Liam stepped in, looking around the bathroom

Chapter 1Chloe’s POV I couldn’t help but smile as the chorus of voices sang “Happy Birthday,” filling our cozy living room with warmth. Balloons and streamers in bright reds, blues, and yellows danced along the ceiling as our friends and family gathered around, celebrating my twins’ sixth birthday. Six years—it felt surreal, almost like it had happened in a blink.“Make a wish, sweethearts!” I encouraged, watching as my twins squeezed their eyes shut, each undoubtedly making a wish with all the fierce concentration only children seem to manage. Then they blew out their candles in a synchronized puff, their laughter ringing out as cheers erupted around them.I stared around, looking at the familiar and unfamiliar faces that gathered to celebrate the special day with us, my eyes suddenly spotted Lia across the room, rocking her little one on her hip while chatting animatedly with one of our guests. Her eyes met mine, and I couldn’t help but laugh, playfully I stride toward her and I

Chapter 2 Chloe’s POV The door swung open, and my breath caught in my throat. Standing before me was Mendy, her lips curled into a predatory smile, eyes glinting with that familiar edge of malice that I thought I’d left in the past. I hadn’t seen her in years—not since the trial, not since the conviction that should have meant she’d stay locked away. Yet here she was, larger than life, bringing with her a chill that cut right through the warm, joyful haze of the birthday party. “Chloe? Who’s at the door?” I heard Liam’s voice jolting me awake from my long thought, and I strived to reply but my tongue felt glued to the roof of my mouth. When I finally gained my voice and plan to answer, Mendy brushed past me, slipping through the doorway as if it were her own home. She strutted into the room as if she belonged there, her gaze scanning the faces of my friends and family as if she were a hunter sizing up her prey. “Well, well, isn’t this a sweet little gathering,” she cooed, her

Book 2 Chapter 3Liam’s POV Chloe’s scream cut through the house, sharp and desperate, tearing me from the hallway where I’d been pacing, trying to process the events of the last few minutes. The party had turned into a nightmare in a heartbeat, Mendy’s presence unraveling everything we’d built. Without a second thought, I rushed toward Chloe, barely registering the concerned looks from friends and family as I pushed through the crowd to find her.She was on the floor, her knees pulled to her chest, clutching our twins so close that they squirmed against her grip. Her face was pale, and her breathing was shallow, frantic. I knelt down beside her, my hands hovering uncertainly, desperate to touch her. “Chloe,” I whispered, steadying my voice. “Did she hurt you? Did Mendy do anything?”Chloe shook her head, but her wide, glassy eyes didn’t meet mine. Her hands gripped the kids even tighter, her body trembling as if just the sight of her sister had shattered her. “Liam, she’s here fo

Book 2 Chapter 4Liam’s POV Something gnawed at me. The people I’d been speaking to were acting strange, too quick to brush me off like I was just another angry guy on the phone. The more I pressed, the more evasive they became, stammering excuses that did nothing but stoke my frustration. I should have had answers by now—hell, I should have been the first to know. As Alpha, they owed me that much. But instead, every door I knocked on slammed shut, leaving me with nothing but more questions.I tried to shake it off, telling myself this was just standard red tape, that some fool somewhere had screwed up and let Mendy slip through the cracks. It was bureaucracy, plain and simple. If there was one thing I knew, it was how badly the system could bungle things. But Chloe’s face, pale and scared, wouldn’t leave my mind. I could still hear her frantic whispers, her fear for our kids, her insistence that Mendy was back for revenge. I could tell her that everything would be fine until I was

Book 2 Chapter 5Liam’s POV I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Jax—of all people—had a hand in Mendy’s release? It didn’t make any sense. I leaned back in my chair, trying to piece it together, but no matter how I looked at it, I kept hitting a wall. After everything that had happened, after the chaos Mendy had caused, her freedom felt like a slap in the face. And now, knowing that Jax might be the one behind it… it was enough to make my blood boil.It had only been a few days since the incident with Mendy, but Chloe was still uneasy. I could see it in her eyes, the way she tensed up every time her phone buzzed, or whenever someone mentioned Mendy’s name. She thought I hadn’t noticed, but I knew her too well. I knew the worry that gnawed at her, even if she tried to hide it. She thought she was protecting me, keeping it all in—but in reality, she didn’t have to. If anything, I needed to be the one protecting her. When Thorne, first brought up Jax’s name, I almost laughed. The i

My heart was pounding, I couldn’t keep waiting in the dark. “What did you find out?” I demanded, crossing my arms as I looked between the two of them.Liam tried to brush me off, his usual calm demeanor in place. “Chloe, take a breath. We haven’t found out much yet.” He explained but I know him too well, he can't lie to me unless I want to play along. But now I’m not going to buy his lies. “What do you mean, ‘not much’? You’re hiding something. I can tell.”The investigator, exchanged a look with Liam, a silent agreement passing between them before he mumbled a quick goodbye and walked away. As he passed, I caught sight of Liam leaning in, whispering something under his breath that I couldn’t make out. My patience snapped.“What was that?” I asked, my voice sharp as I turned to Liam. “What were you whispering to him about?”He hesitated, just for a second, befo

I’d have loved to keep Chloe unaware of all this but she’s too persistent to let go. She hadn’t learned about Mendy being Jax’s Luna what if she did? Her worry would be multiple feelings I don’t like seeing. “So, how’s Chloe holding up?” Luke’s voice broke through my thoughts as he looked over at me, a hint of worry in his eyes.I let out a sigh, running a hand over my face. “She’s… coping, but there’s this constant edge to her. She’s a little paranoid, to be honest. And I don’t blame her.” I glanced out the window, where the sun was starting to dip below the horizon. “After everything she’s been through with Jax and Mendy, I can’t blame her for not feeling safe.”Luke nodded, his expression darkening as he took in my words. “Yeah, it’s a lot to handle. Chloe’s POV The house was unusually quiet when Chloe returned. Normally, the laughter and chatter of her children greeted her at the door, but this time, only the faint rustle of maids working in the background broke the silence. She glanced at her phone as she stepped inside, hoping for a message from Liam, but her notifications were blank.Chloe inhaled deeply, forcing herself to relax. Liam will handle it, she reminded herself. He had promised to confront Mendy, and if there was one thing Liam excelled at, it was handling difficult situations. She pushed aside her worry and decided to make the most of the evening.“Mrs. Liam,” one of the maids greeted her with a polite smile, “would you like us to prepare anything for dinner?”Chloe shook her head, an idea forming in her mind. “No, I’ll take care of it tonight. I want to do something special.”The maid’s eyes widened slightly in surprise, but she didn’t protest. Chloe rarely took over in the kitchen, but tonight felt like the perf

Author’s POVMendy’s sharp eye was on Liam, his presence commanding attention. She felt the weight of her anger bubbling beneath her carefully composed exterior, but she masked it with a small smile. Her posture was relaxed, almost lazy, as if she had all the time in the world.Liam’s expression was the opposite—his jaw was clenched tight, and his fiery gaze was locked on her. Even without his Alpha aura pressing down on the room, his presence was intimidating enough. The principal, standing nearby, cleared his throat nervously.“Mr. Liam, perhaps we can—”“This doesn’t concern you,” Liam cut her off sharply, his tone cold but controlled. He turned his attention back to Mendy, his voice steady but laced with steel. “We need to talk. Alone.”The principal hesitated, but Mendy stepped forward, gesturing for him to leave. “It’s fine,” she said sweetly, her tone dripping with false politeness. “I can handle this. There’s no need to worry.” She added. The principal looked between them, he

Liam’s POV The house was eerily quiet when I stepped inside. Too quiet. I called out Chloe’s name, my voice echoing in the space. No answer. My eyes swept the living room, every corner tidy as usual, but something about the silence felt off. She hadn’t mentioned going anywhere.“Chloe?” I tried again, moving toward the kitchen. Nothing. My pulse quickened, an uneasy knot forming in my chest. I pulled out my phone and dialed her number for the third time, only to hear it ring faintly from somewhere upstairs. She wasn’t answering. I bolted up the stairs, following the sound to our bedroom, and found her phone on the nightstand, the screen lighting up with my name.“She left without it,” I muttered, running a hand through my hair.Panic began to creep in. Chloe wasn’t careless with her phone, and the thought of her being unreachable only amplified my worry. I sat on the edge of the bed, trying to think. She might have gone to her office. That seemed like the logical explanation.Without

Liam’s POV The meeting room was quiet, except for the sound of the projector humming as it displayed charts and statistics. My foreign clients sat stiffly across the table, their expressions grim. I could see the anger in their eyes, the way their eyes darted nervously. They were losing faith in me, and it was starting to show.“Your warehouses are no longer safe,” one of them said, breaking the silence. His voice was sharp, accusing. “It’s like someone knows every location. This isn’t just a coincidence, Mr. Liam. We’re being targeted.” He uttered with a greeted teeth. I leaned back in my chair, forcing a calm smile onto my face. “I understand your concerns,” I said evenly, though inside I was seething. “But I assure you, my team is handling the situation. We’ve reinforced security measures, and we’re monitoring all activities closely.” I tried to reassure them but their gaze was unyielding. “Are you sure that’s enough? This isn’t just bad luck,” one of them said, his voice cold.

Chloe’s POV The very next day, I found myself standing in front of the school, my kids clutching each of my hands. It was supposed to feel normal, dropping the kids off, and watching them run through the gates. But it didn’t. My chest tightened with each step closer to the entrance. Liam had reassured me endlessly last night, but no amount of comforting words could erase the lingering unease swirling in my mind.“Mommy, can we go now?” Aria tugged at my hand impatiently, breaking my train of thought.“Not yet, sweetheart,” I said, forcing a smile and crouching down to their level. “I need you both to promise me something. If anything feels wrong or someone says something that makes you uncomfortable, you tell your dad or come straight to me. Okay?”“Okay,” they chorused, although Asher gave me a skeptical look. He had her father’s no-nonsense expression, sharp for a six-year-old.I kissed their foreheads and sent them through the gates, my heart sinking further as they disappeared in

  • Alpha's Regret: Howling For A Second Chance   Book 2 Chapter 42

Chloe’s POV The first few days of Mendy’s presence at the school had been uneventful. It was almost as if she were trying to prove herself, and I couldn’t figure out why that bothered me so much. Whenever I went to drop the kids off, she would always smile to greet the kids, praising them for every little thing, acting like the perfect, doting teacher. But the way she looked at them, the way she got just a little too close, set my nerves on edge.It wasn’t even the way she treated them that bothered me. It was how my children were responding to her. Every day, it seemed, I’d hear them tell me how great Mendy was, how she helped them with this or that, how she made them feel so special. I tried to smile, to be supportive, but deep down, a jealousy I couldn’t control bubbled up inside me. I wanted them to see me that way. I wanted to be the one they ran to when they needed praise or affection. The worst part was how they’d grown so attached to her. They came home with stories about Men

Chloe’s POV The car engine hummed beneath me, but my thoughts were a constant, swirling storm. I couldn’t shake the image of Mendy’s face from my mind. Her too-sweet smile, her fake warmth toward my children—it was all wrong. Something about her felt off. I gripped the steering wheel harder, my fingers aching from the pressure. I needed to talk to Liam. I needed to hear his voice, to feel some semblance of calm, and also to inform him about Mendy. I pulled over to the side of the road, brought out my phone, and dialed his number. The phone rang twice before he picked up, his voice strained. “Chloe?”“Liam, I—” I stopped myself, trying to gather my thoughts. “I don’t know what to do. The principal introduced Mendy as the kids’ new teacher today. She’s been assigned to their class permanently. I can’t— I just can’t trust her with them.”I could hear Liam take a sharp breath on the other end of the line. He sounded tired and worn out, and I hated that. I hated that he had so much on

Chloe’s POV I couldn’t stop the guilt creeping up my spine as I marched into the principal’s office, demanding a transfer for Aria and Luis. The decision gnawed at me, a tiny voice whispering that I was letting my anger control me, but I shoved it aside. My children didn’t belong in a classroom with Mendy.“I understand your concerns, Mrs. Liam,” the principal said, her tone professional but edged with impatience. “However, I must remind you that we’re the top school in the city. Transferring them now would not only disrupt their education but limit their future opportunities.”I folded my arms, my frustration bubbling over. “And I understand that you think this is the best school, but you don’t understand the history I have with that woman. She’s not safe to be around my children.”The principal sighed, looking at me as if I were a stubborn child throwing a tantrum. “Mendy has done nothing to warrant such concerns. We’re so lucky to have her, she’s been an absolute gem.”I blinked, sure I’d misheard. “I’m sorry,” I said slowly, my voice trembling with the effort to stay calm. “You’re saying Mendy is my children’s teacher? Or am I just mishearing?”“No you’re not mishearing,” the principal replied, beaming. “She graciously agreed to step in after the original teacher had an accident. We’re very fortunate to have someone so qualified and committed join us at such short notice.” She explained. I stared at her, my mind struggling to process the words. My heart began to race, panic rising in my chest. Mendy. Of all people. Why is this happening to me? “You’ve got to be joking,” I said, my voice sharper now.The principal frowned slightly, the warmth in her expression faltering. “I’m not joking, Mrs. Liam.
