LILA POV

He still sounded off.

“Are you sure you're fine?”

“Oh, yes, Lila. I'm doing very well.”

“Then why haven't you called me for three days? Don't you miss me or something?”

I could now hear the sound of his fest pacing the room. “Lila, I have many things to do in case you don't know or have forgotten,” he said this time and I didn't know how to feel about it. “You know fully well that I am the next in line with many responsibilities to attend to. I can't be phoning you all day, especially when I am less busy. Don't you know that?”

“I—I do—”

I muttered, even though I didn't want to.

“That's alright, Rune. I was only calling to check in on you, but I have a question I'd like to ask you also. Do you mind me asking you, Alpha Rune? Or are you so busy that you can't attend to me in the meantime? I will have to let you be.”

“I have some time to spare, Lila. What do you want to ask me?”

Settling on the bed, I figured out a way to ask my question without sounding very desperate.

  • Alpha's Regret: Chasing My Forsaken Luna   Chapter 167

LOGAN'S POV Agamemnon arrived at the pack with the dawn, breezing into the meeting hall with an air of practiced importance. And for once, he didn't look like the gods had dragged him directly out of his bed and shoved him towards my pack.He swept into the war room with all the grace of a wolf who knew age and loss hadn’t dimmed his authority one bit, the tail of his fur cloak dragging on the stone floor behind him.The old alpha took one look at me and barked out a laugh.“Well, if it isn’t the young Alpha who refuses to die.”I grinned, standing to clasp his forearm. “And if it isn’t the old wolf who refuses to leave his pack no matter what. I'm surprised.”He threw his head back, laughter booming off the stone walls. “Leave? When you all can just come to me?”“That is why you have no friends ,” I said dryly. He smacked my shoulder hard enough to make me wince. “Good, you’ve still got humor in you. I was worried Rune had stabbed it out along with your blood.”“I heal fast.”“I see

SERAPHINE'S POVMy mind raced almost as hard as my heart as I peered into empty space.Nightmares after nightmares had finally made me resistant to the fear of what I knew was meant to come.I’d grown used to that presence, the soft, waiting hush that came before Argula’s whispers each night. And tonight it wasn’t the air that trembled. It was me.My best pal, Helen sat near the hearth, knitting with deliberate care, her spectacles slipping down her nose as the firelight gilded her silver hair. She’d been my handmaiden for nearly two decades, though she’d always refused that word. “Friend,” she used to correct. “We can't be friends since you have more power than I'll ever have, milady,” she'd always say.Ironic, because tonight, I didn't feel very powerful.I smiled faintly. “I told you to stop with that already, you’d think being Luna would earn me obedience, Helen.”She clicked her tongue. “And you’d think wisdom would earn you rest. Yet here you are, writing letters instead of sle

RAVEN'S POV “Aht, aht…don't use your gums on mama, Reed.” I smiled, gently brushing back the wisps of hair sticking to his temple. The morning light poured through my window like honey, slow and golden, sliding across the walls of my chamber. My boy stirred in my arms, tiny fingers curling around the fabric of my robe as he suckled. “You really are the most beautiful boy,” I cooed, teasing the soft lobe of his small ear. “But then that makes sense, you look just like your mother.”The knock at my door startled me only because I'd been too occupied to hear the footsteps approach.“Come in,” I called softly, adjusting the blanket over Reed’s head. The door opened halfway, and then stopped as Logan slipped in, still holding the door. His eyes fell on me and immediately widened before he turned his head to the side so fast it made me chuckle.“I…ah..Raven, I didn’t realize you were…” He gestured vaguely in my direction, ears turning the faintest shade of red. “busy.”I laughed outrig

RUNE'S POVThe moment word reached the Oxen stronghold that Logan lived, the air itself turned to icicles in my nose. The rumours seeped through the walls like poison, mixing with the first rumours of what happened between Logan and I.From when the news of me stabbing him began to circulate, I could feel the multiple disapproval through the mind link…but no one dared to confront me. Not until the gathering that was orchestrated by Egan.By the time I entered the great hall, the tension was thick enough to be cut through. Voices rose above others as the people argued, their voices echoing through the walls.“He’s alive, and that's a good thing for us!” one barked.“Then what’s the point if we're still going to war?” another spat.“You should ask the Alpha that! Every pack from here to the coast will see us as rabid for what he did!” It was an elderly wolf that said it, of course. They were the only ones with enough courage to say some of the things most couldn't.Their words slammed i

AELLA'S POV "There is a traitor amongst us.”A murmur swept through the group as Redmond’s voice carried through the hallmI felt my pulse kick hard underneath my skin, and I swallowed as I tried to maintain my composure. The long oak table between us looked suddenly too small to hold all that tension circulating.Redmond stood at the head, with a taut posture and a cold expression on his face. “Rune knows the alpha survived his attack, and that news got to him from someone within our city and pack.”“But how do we know for sure?” Farrow asked, looking genuinely bothered by the revelation.“We have an eye in the Oxen pack,” Redmond answered.“So that means there's also a traitor in Oxen?” Zade blurted out and I shook my head as I looked straight at him.“Gods, you're such a dud.”“It was a simple question, Aella,” he replied hotly, “no need for your wicked flippancy.”I eyed him coldly, then looked away as Redmond began to speak.“Your assessment is correct, Zade. Oxen also harbours

  • Alpha's Regret: Chasing My Forsaken Luna   Chapter 162

LOGAN'S POV Pain was the first thing that greeted me as I slowly gained consciousness.A slow, pulsing throb in my side that spread like wildfire every time I tried to breathe too deeply. There was also the harsh taste of metal and bitterness in my mouth, clinging to my tongue as though they were one.I slowly peeled my eyes open to dim light and the faint scent of pine smoke and slowly, very slowly, recognition creeped into my consciousness. My ceiling. My room…I wasn’t dead!“About time,” a voice murmured beside me, bursting through my haze of joyful realisation.I swiftly turned my head too fast, and regretted it immediately. The world spun for a heartbeat and the throbbing at the sides of my head, increased, before settling. And then I saw her.Raven sat beside the bed, elbows on her knees, chin resting in her palms as she studied me with an expression that made my chest tighten worriedly.“You know you could've just told me if you didn't want to deal with me anymore, instead of
