ARES’S POV

There was no way anyone in my position would be okay. Despite how I had treated Dahlia in the past and my lack of show of emotions towards her, I still didn’t want another man around her.

From time to time she stole nervous glances at me as I sat with a frown on my desk. Just so it wouldn’t look like she was the cause of my worry, I flipped through some papers on the table. I was just flipping through without actually reading anything.

After a while, she called, “Ares.”

Slowly, I looked up at her, what was it? Was she suddenly feeling guilty about turning me down?

“You seem angry, I can cancel my plans for tonight and have that drink with you.” She said meekly, her eyes large and gentle.

There was an excitement stirring up in me but my pride killed it immediately. It would seem petty for her to cancel her plans just because I was sore about it. “Don’t get worked up about it, it’s fine.” I said calmly, knowing it wasn’t fine. “We can have drinks any other day.” I said and
