We all heard the stories. Not only did werewolves and vampires exist, but so did soulmates. Not that many humans witnessed these things and lived to tell the tale. It was an unspoken understanding in the world. They existed and in return for our blind eye and silence, they let us live.
They say that when werewolves find their soulmates they know right away. That once they have seen their mates they would burn the world for them. To protect them. They say that it's even worse with Alphas. That Alphas are extremely possessive and protective of their mates.
For me, a human, thankfully I would never find out. At least, that was what I thought.
"Airen come on, let's go!" Melissa shouted to me from downstairs.
I sighed as I once again looked at myself in the mirror. Melissa was one of my best friends in the world, but I would kill her for forcing me to wear such a provocative dress.
Melissa had selected a strapless dress that was cut low enough to show off my breasts and not in a classy way. The dress was also short enough that if I so much as breathed wrong the world would have a perfect view of my ass. The dress was dark purple and covered in sequins and glitter. Melissa had also selected a pair of black heels that I was not all that confident I could walk in. My hair had been fixed so that it fell in blonde waves down my shoulders and my make-up looked like I had walked out of a strip club. If my father saw me, he'd kill me.
"Airen let's go! We don't have all night!"
"Coming!" I shouted.
I grabbed the black clutch that held my phone and some cash and made my way downstairs.
Melissa, who had grown up in a family that was made of money, had invited me to spend the weekend with her at one of her family's many summer homes in Australia.
I had readily agreed.
My life had not been an easy one. After I had graduated high school and moved to college, my grandfather had fallen ill and he and my grandmother had been forced to move in with my parents and sisters. It's been downhill ever since.
My grandfather passed away a few months ago and now my grandmother was ill and needed to be taken care of. My other grandmother was also living with my parents now since she was declared legally blind last year. To make things worse my two grandmothers do not get along.
My mother has a strained relationship with her mother and her mother-in-law is not her biggest fan. Now that I was finished with college and both of my sisters had lives of their own at their colleges I was forced to move home and attend law school online to keep the peace and keep everyone sane.
So obviously I had agreed to an all-expense paid vacation in another country. The stress of school, work, and life, in general, had been getting to me and now my younger sister Elena was getting married and I was helping her plan the wedding.
The past weekend had been a God send. It was nice to get away and not have any responsibilities to worry about. And now that it was almost over Melissa wanted to take me out for a night on the town.
"Damn girl, you look hot, if I do say so myself." Melissa's wide grin told me that the slutty and slightly up-scale hooker look was exactly what she had been going for.
I rolled my eyes and looked at her choice of outfit.
She wore a similar dress (if you could even call it that) to mine except hers was gold and fit her slightly better. Her auburn hair was done in large curls that hung lightly about her shoulders and her make-up looked like a bottle of gold glitter had exploded on her face. She wore heels that were higher than mine and matched her dress. To be honest I didn't know so much glitter could fit on one person.
Noticing my observing her Melissa did a small twirl with her arms extended.
"What about me?"
"Definitely a more up-scale hooker than me." was my smart-ass reply.
Melissa just grinned.
"But of course madam. This body ain't cheap."
I rolled my eyes both at her comment and at her exaggerated Texas accent on the word "ain't". Her mocking of me and my accent was nothing new.
"Let's just go already."
***********************
The drive to the club only took about 20 minutes. The whole way there Melissa blared pop music and sang incredibly loud and off-key.
I couldn't help but smile.
It wasn't necessarily that I enjoyed going to clubs. I enjoyed music and dancing, the quality time with friends, and the chance to relax. Drinking was a bonus too. Though what was blared at clubs was not what I would call good music and the upright dry humping that went on was certainly not dancing.
We pulled up and Melissa parked. We got out of the car with Melissa still humming the tune to the last song she had tried to deafen me with.
Instead of going to the back of the very long line, Melissa went straight up to the bouncer. I rolled my eyes. Of course, she had an in with the bouncer. Melissa was just that type of person from that type of family.
While she talked, I shifted my feet uncomfortably keeping my gaze away from the annoyed partiers that were having to wait in line.
Melissa turned to me and smiled, waving me over.
Her smile said it all. We were in.

Johnathan's POV
The loud music blaring would have made my head hurt if I wasn't used to it.
My family owned thousands of clubs around the world. We made billions and were worth far more. We also were the alpha family of multiple packs across the globe.
My father, Baron Logan, was the Alpha of the Blood Moon pack that was based here in Australia. Blood Moon is one of the largest and most powerful packs in the world. At least, my father used to be alpha. He had stepped down a few years ago so that my older brother Shane could take over. He and his mate Valerie ran the Blood Moon pack with a firm but compassionate hand.
I ran my own pack. When Blood Moon had become large enough My father, Shane, and I had all agreed that the world could use an independent pack of warriors that traveled the world to help other packs in need. With the growing threat of Vampires invading pack lands and endangering werewolves around the world growing, we needed it.
We had put out the call for the strongest and most powerful unmated warriors to come to Blood Moon to be evaluated and establish the pack. Then we left. The elder council had readily agreed to the idea and had helped immensely. It took a couple of years, but we managed to make a name and reputation for ourselves. We were the Blood Wolf Pack and we were known around the world as the most ruthless, bloodthirsty, and powerful werewolves in the world.
When we weren't traveling or needed elsewhere the Blood Wolf pack stayed with Blood Moon. We never stayed more than a month though. Both my wolf and I were restless for action and blood and could never sit still for long.
Now that my pack and our purpose had been established, the elder council along with my mother and sister had begun to nag me about finding my mate. At least, nagging me about choosing one. Seeing as I had traveled the world more than once and still had not found her everyone seemed to think that she didn't exist and that I needed a chosen mate.
I didn't blame them for thinking that. I was 25 for crying out loud. Most Alphas shift when they're 15 and I shifted when I had been 13. As long as our mate had shifted as well we could find them if they were within a certain distance. It had been nearly 12 years and I still hadn't found my mate. To be honest, I was beginning to doubt if the moon goddess had given me a mate.
But my wolf Creo Morte (I just call him Morte) was sure that we had a mate and she was out there somewhere. And as long as he was sure, I refused to settle down with anyone other than her. I believed in the moon goddess and her choice of mates.
"Boss?"
I was brought out of my thoughts by my beta, Cade McMillard.
Cade frowned down at me with concern.
"Everything okay?"
"Yeah, just lost in thought." I nodded taking a sip of my drink.
Thankfully with werewolf hearing, we didn't have to scream at the top of our lungs in order to be heard. The far too-loud music was still annoying though.
"We were just discussing our next destination." Cade provided as I observed the people dancing in the overcrowded room.
I had always enjoyed people-watching. It was both entertaining and educational. It was how I learned to read people and become so good at it. I could spot a fake from a mile away and could smell a lie from just as far.
"It's been over a month boss. Isn't Morte getting anxious?" Caded asked.
It was true. We had stayed far longer than I usually liked, but there was something, some reason why we couldn't leave yet. I couldn't explain it, it was just a feeling I had. Morte could feel it too which was why he had kept the over-anxious pacing and growling in my head at a minimum over the past week.
"I-"
I can't remember what I was about to say. Every thought just suddenly left as I caught a whiff of an amazing scent. Morte perked up as I straightened, trying to find the source of the smell. I could smell it! Finally, I could smell it! I could smell her!
"Boss?" Cade's confused voice followed me as I got up from my seat at the bar and began to follow my nose.
The scent was faint, but there and getting stronger by the second. She was here, and she was getting closer.
Ignoring Cade's confused voice and look I made my way through the crowd.
The scent was alluring. Whoever she was smelled like lavender and roses.
The stronger the scent grew, the faster I went, and the less I cared about the people around me.
Suddenly the scent was really strong. I broke through a throng of people and there she was.
'Mate', Morte growled.
She was the most beautiful creature I had ever laid eyes on.
She was short, probably around 5'4 without the black heels that made her legs go on forever. That was the only positive thing I could say about her outfit. The black heels were clearly too high for her and the dress she was wearing barely covered her fine ass and large breasts.
Not that I had a problem with those parts of her uncovered, I just didn't want them on display for everyone to see. Only I could see certain parts of her.
It appeared that I was not the only one uncomfortable with her dress. My mate attempted to discreetly pull the dress in a manner where it covered more of her.
I took the opportunity to get a better look at her.
Her figure was curvy, with wide hips, a round ass, and large breasts she was perfect. She wasn't thin, but she wasn't fat either. She was just right, for me and for bearing my pups. Her lightly tanned skin was smooth and I could see splatterings of freckles here and there across her skin. She had light blonde hair that looked like sunshine that flowed in waves down her shoulders.
As I got closer I could see the make-up she wore. It was all wrong for her. It made her look pale and there was far too much of it.
I slipped in next to her leaning up against the bar.
"Hello." I rumbled.
She looked up at me a single perfect eyebrow raised in question. When she turned her nose came up to my collarbone, her eyes level with my adam's apple. And that was with me leaning up against the bar and her in heels.
She frowned in confusion for a moment before looking up at me. A small gasp escaped her perfectly shaped pink lips when our eyes connected.
My own eyebrows shot up in surprise. She had the most enchanting eyes. They were light hazel with multiple colors mixed together to make the perfect blend for the perfect woman and some day I would count every color. But that wasn't what surprised me. No, what surprised me was what I realized when we made eye contact.
'She's human', Morte said.

Airen's POV
The night was a bust.
Not long after we entered the club Melissa ditched me to go flirt with guys for drinks. I just rolled my eyes and found a spot at the bar.
I ordered a drink and as I stood there waiting I noticed several guys leering at me. Well, more specifically, my dress or lack thereof.
I tried to pull it so that it covered everything more to no avail. I was just about to go find Melissa without my drink when I felt a warm presence behind me.
"Hello", a deep voice rumbled.
Surprised I could even hear it in this horribly loud place, I turned with my "can I help you" look on my face.
What surprised me, even more, was that I came face to face with his adam's apple. I was both surprised that he was so close that my nose was practically brushing his collarbone and that he was that tall.
I looked up to see who had invaded my space without an invitation and am embarrassed to say that a small gasp escaped my lips.
I was looking at the most gorgeous man I had ever seen. He was tall, over six feet easy. He had broad shoulders and his muscles clearly bulged out from under his dark button-down shirt. He had dark hair and matching scruff that was forming the beginning of a beard. His hair had some length to it, though not much. It was unstyled and a few strands had fallen onto his forehead.
He had a strong jaw that looked like it could crack solid stone and he had high cheekbones. But what was most enticing was his eyes. They were a deep dark blue, so vivid that they seemed to pierce me.
My breathing hitched as I looked into those eyes. Those eyes seemed to read every part of me, of my soul, and I knew.
No human could have those eyes.
*****************
I don't remember exactly how but we ended up in a hotel room quickly removing each other's clothes.
This was unusual because I am not that girl.
I do not through myself at or sleep with guys when we first meet. I don't sleep with guys period. I'm a virgin. And I am certainly not stupid enough to leave with some guy I barely know.
But for some reason, I felt safe and protected with this man. I didn't know him, had no clue who he was other than he wasn't human, and yet here I was kissing him like I was dying of thirst in the desert and he was the only source of water.
The fact that he wasn't human should have scared me more, but it didn't. If anything it made me feel safer and honestly turned me on.
My skin tingled wherever his skin touched mine.
His warm breath tickled my throat as he placed hot kisses along my neck. I let out a moan when he reached the place where my neck and shoulder met. He growled and nipped at the sensitive spot.
His hands freely explored my body as he pushed me up against the wall.
One of my hands grasped his hair while the other one clung to his shirt looking for support.
He moved his mouth back to mine as one of his hands found its way into my panties.
I gasped at the sensation and he used the opportunity to thrust his tongue into my mouth.
I groaned as his fingers teasingly played with my already wet lips. His index finger slid up and down my slit slowly as his middle finger teasingly poked into my core.
I ripped my lips away from his gasping for air. My grip on his hair and shirt tightened as his index finger found my clit.
I whimpered as he slowly began to play with my clit.
My breathing picked up speed as his middle finger began to slowly enter me. When it was halfway in he stopped and then every so slowly began to pull it out. I whimpered again squeezing my eyes closed aching for a release.
This man was meticulous and cruel. And clearly knew what he was doing.
I had made out and experienced certain things before but never like this. No one had ever been able to make me feel like this before.
Suddenly his fingers stopped moving and just as suddenly two of his fingers slammed into me all the way. I cried out both in pain and estcay as my head fell back against the wall.
A dark chuckle rumbled from his chest as I continued to gasp, whimper, pant, and moan writhing in pleasure against his fingers.
When my orgasm hit it left me shuddering and weak. My knees gave out and I melted in his arms.
"Oh no, you don't angel. Not yet. I still have plans for you."
He lifted me as if I weighed nothing. He carried me over to the bed and set me down gently. Looking into my eyes he crawled over me.
"Unless you want me to stop?" he asked softly. He brushed a strand of hair out of my face, concern written on his features.
I shook my head.
"No, keep going," I said. "Just, be gentle. I...I've never....."
He chuckled again.
"I know Angel. I can smell that you have never been with a man before."
He leaned closer so that he could whisper in my ear.
"And my name is Johnathan. Just so you know whose name to scream when the time comes."
**************
I blinked blearily as I woke up the next morning. For a moment I couldn't remember where I was or why. Then the bed shifted and everything came screaming back to me. The club, the mysterious man, me losing my virginity.....
I gulped and looked at the man in the bed next to me. He was sound asleep. If it was even possible he looked more handsome than he had last night. He even looked..... peaceful.
I blushed at the memory of the things he had done to me last night. And then an even more intimate memory came roaring back.
As I had been drifting off to sleep he had kissed me on the temple and whispered, "Sleep well, my love. My mate."
Eyes wide I studied him. I knew he wasn't human and couldn't explain why I had been willing to trust a strange man with my life and virginity less than an hour after meeting him. I had just known that it was okay. That he wouldn't hurt me and that sleeping with him had been the right move. I guess now I knew why.
My whole life I had known that soulmates existed, and humans being the mates of werewolves wasn't unheard of, I just never thought that it would happen to me. That I would find my soulmate and he would end up being a werewolf.
My phone buzzing cut off my train of thought.
Melissa!
I dove for my phone and looked at the screen. 20 missed calls and 10 voicemails. Even more texts. All from Melissa. Though, she wasn't the only one.
I frowned at the screen as I saw three missed calls from my mom.
Knowing she wouldn't call unless important I quietly got out of bed and went into the bathroom. I shut the door and called her back.
The phone rang once before she picked up.
"Hello?" a tired voice asked over the phone.
"Mom?" I asked quietly.
"Airen! Thank God. I'm sorry to interrupt your vacation honey, but you need to come home."
My heart lodged in my throat.
"What? Why?"
"It's your father. He's had a heart attack."
Four Years Later..... Airen's POV I slammed the truck door closed with a sigh. I turned and leaned up against the truck crossing my arms and closing my eyes taking advantage of the rare moment of peace. Life hadn't been easy these past four years (as if it had ever been). After getting the phone call about my father I rushed out of that hotel room. I was impressed that I hadn't managed to wake up the man who had claimed to be my mate. At first, I had considered looking into the whole human mate of a werewolf thing. More specifically how I, the human, was supposed to know if he was really my mate. But once I had gotten home that changed. I had given a brief and somewhat explanation of why I needed to leave to Melissa that morning, but not about the night before, not that she didn't try to get details. I had gotten home just over a day later to find my father practically comatose. He had had a massive heart attack due to stress. Work and life in general had finally caught up with
Airen's POVWe arrived at Rachel's ranch and saw several people milling around. They were carrying things around getting ready for the wedding tomorrow.I put the truck in park and turned off the engine just in time for James to shout."Mommy look! The horses are out!"James loved horses. With the way he shouted and squealed every time he saw them you would think he'd never seen one before."James wait!" I said, but it was too late. When he was two James had learned how to buckle and un-buckle himself into and out of his car seat. That combined with the lack of child locks on my dad's truck meant that he was already out of the truck and halfway to the horses."I've got him. You have work to do." Mom said nodding to the house before us.I looked up and saw Rachel standing on the large wrap-around porch of her home. She was waving at me with a glowing smile on her face.I smiled and got out of the truck. I watched Mom and made sure she caught up with my runaway of a son before I turned
Airen's POVI tried not to laugh at the murderous glare Rachel sent me as her mother embraced her. I knew Carlotta would never let up or that we could never tell her the real reason why the ceremony was so rushed. So I decided to appeal to her sense of self-decency and the idea that her reputation as a mother could potentially suffer."Oh, my dear! Why didn't you tell me!?" Carlotta exclaimed as she pulled back to look at Rachel's very non-pregnant stomach."She wanted it to be a surprise. But with you being adamant about moving the wedding back I figured you should know." I interjected before Rachel could tell her mother that I was a complete liar. Which I was, but telling her would ruin the whole point of why I told the lie in the first place."Well now that I know, of course, you can get married tomorrow, darling! Of course, I still wish you had waited, oh but I'm so excited!" Carlotta pulled Rachel into another hug while Rachel rolled her eyes at Carlotta's delusion that she neede
Johnathan's POV Four Years. That's how long it has been since that one incredible night with my mate. My beautiful and perfect mate left without a word or leaving a note before I woke the next morning. My mate, whose name I didn't even know. My mate seemed to vanish, as though she had never existed. And since that night I have been tearing the world apart looking for her. Traveling the world had become boring and tiresome for me. But now that I had a purpose, a reason to travel, I enjoyed it with renewed vigor. The first few months were filled with frantic fear-filled searches. Anything and everything that could be done to learn her identity was done. When those methods failed I resulted in a more hands-on approach. I went out into the world actively looking. The next few months were filled with desperation, trying to remember any little detail that could give way to who she really was. As time wore on I was met with failure again and again. Failure to find her, and failure to
Johnathan's POVI charged up the hill towards her, not caring about the bench that I was sure had just toppled over.It took me less than a minute to make it to her. I stood just in front of her and inhaled her intoxicating scent. She was looking at me in shock, as though she couldn't believe that I was there. I knew how she felt.I hungrily took her in, memorizing every inch of her presence. She stood before me in beautiful wonder, framed perfectly by the sunshine. She was wearing a white t-shirt and jeans that fit her well. Her blonde hair was pulled back into a messy bun and several stray whisps hung loose and framed her round face. Her eyes were as hauntingly beautiful as they were that night.A smile began to form on my face before something caught my eye.Dark circles sat under her eyes. Her eyes, while beautiful, lacked the amused sparkle I had loved. Upon looking at her more closely dread began to build in my stomach. She was pale, far paler than she had been four years ago. S
Airen's POVHe was here. He was here and looking at me as though I would disappear with just the slightest movement.Rachel had introduced him as "Alpha". I knew that he wasn't human, that he was a werewolf, but an Alpha? I had no clue. And life had just gotten far more complicated."Ms. Rachel?"I turned to see one of Rachel's ranch hands, Davis, standing by the back door."Yes?" Rachel turned to face him as well."I finished mucking out the stalls and put the horses out to graze. Is there anything else you need from me?"As he said this Davis's beady little eyes slide over to me. A shudder of revulsion went through me as he openly raked his eyes over me and leered.I wanted to hide, to cover myself with more clothes so he couldn't see me. But I knew that would only fuel his creepy behavior. Before I could so much as glare at him a loud growl sounded from behind me and I was suddenly pulled back into a solid chest. Large protective arms wrapped around me possessively and I instantly f
Airen's POV What did I just do? I stood there, stunned. I had just said that Johnathan would be sticking around. For a while. And that we would be seeing more of him. What had I just done? The whole point of me not looking for him this whole time was that I didn't want him involved in my life. And what about James? I internally groaned. I didn't know how, but I was going to have to keep them away from each other for the next two days. At least until I could figure out how to fix this. 'I could always run.' The thought had crossed my mind. My family had reached a point where I wasn't really needed as much anymore. Yes, Dad was still very weak but he was slowly getting better and he was working from home now. Between him, Mom, Elena, and Elena's husband they could handle my grandparents. And with my job, I could work from anywhere. A plan began to slowly form in my head. A tug on my hand pulled me out of my thoughts. Rachel stood in front of us, my hand in hers, looking at Johna
Airen's POV Carlotta was waiting for us just inside the back door. The moment we stepped inside she pounced. "Oh good! Finally, Rachel, I have some things for you to look at that we could use for the baby's room!" She exclaimed happily, showing us her phone which was currently on a baby shopping site. I looked at the phone in surprise while Rachel looked pale. "Mother, do you really think that's necessary right now? I mean we're not even done with the wedding...." "Of course it's necessary! Before you know it the little tyke will be here and you won't have time for anything anymore. Now, look at this bassinet, I thought it would be perfect for the living room here....." Carlotta continued on and on while Rachel groaned and shot me yet another dirty look. After about 20 minutes of onesies, pacifiers, bibs, cribs, and toys Rachel's head looked like it was about to explode. "Mother, why don't we pause this discussion until after the wedding? As in when I'm back from my honeymoon?"
Johnathan's Pov I did not sleep well. Between being restless over the separation from my mate and Morte being restless over vampires being within 100 miles of our mate and son, it was a long and uncomfortable night. At some point, I must have dozed off because one minute I was stressing out over what to do about my mate and her lack of communication and the next I was waking up to the bedroom door being opened. I had fallen asleep sitting up against the door, so when it opened I fell into the room, backward. I lay there, looking up at a very displeased Airen. She was wearing another white t-shirt, denim capri pants, and Converse. Her hair was down around her shoulders and damp as though she had just gotten out of the shower. There was a pair of sunglasses perched on her head and she was carrying a duffle bag, a book bag, and a purse. I wondered what she needed that required that many bags for just a few days before I remembered that she was supposed to be here for two whole weeks
Airen's POV After Tobias and Dayton crashed the reception, the party mood had been effectively killed. Everyone went home, almost imeadieadtly, giving Rachel and Cade murmured congratulations on their way out, all the while casting, me, Cade, and Johnathan nervous looks. Cade because of the new information that he was a werewolf and now lived among them. Johnathan because he was still fuming with barely contained rage and me because I was the obvious cause and target of Johnathan's rage. Mom offered to take James for me so Johnathan and I could "talk", the whole time casting uneasy glances at Johnathan who was watching me like a hawk. I shook my head. "I appreciate it, Mom, really, but after everything I want to keep James here with us." Mom looked at me, concerned. "Honey, I don't know how I feel about you staying here eith
Johnathan's POV I smelled them before I saw them. Vampires. Before I could do anything, Airen tensed in my arms. She was looking at something over my shoulder and I could see the fear in her eyes. She reached out and pushed James behind her, never taking her eyes off of what I could only assume to be the vampires I was smelling. I looked around and saw that everyone else was watching something behind me. I also noted that the music had stopped and Cade had pushed Rachel behind him. I scanned the crowd for Brenna and found her frozen and as white as a sheet. I made eye contact with her and motioned with my head for her to come to get James. That seemed to shake her out of her frozen state. She nodded in acknowledgment and began to make her way toward us. I then focused on Airen. Her hand had slipped down to my chest at some point and she was now gripping my shirt with white knuckles. She was shaking, though I doubt she noticed, and had pressed herself up against me, whether subcon
Airen's POV It wasn't hard to avoid Johnathan. I was the Maid of Honor, after all, I had plenty to do. Mom was watching James so I had one less thing to worry about during the reception. Even so, I constantly found myself looking for him in the crowd. Anytime it took more than 0.5 seconds to find him, I began to panic. I wouldn't admit it out loud, but that phone call with Nolan had shaken me up. I also found myself looking for Johnathan in the crowd quite often as well. Every time I saw him he was already looking at me. It was as though he was keeping steady track of me with his eyes. Every time I looked quickly away, my cheeks heating furiously in embarrassment. So far the reception was going well. Cade and Rachel had already cut the cake, we had eaten dinner, they had their first dance, and in a move that surprised everyone, Cade danced his mother-and-son dance with Carlotta while Rachel did her father-daughter dance with Jonathan. I watched the dances with a smile. It was nic
Johnathan's POV I stood at the altar next to Cade, proud smile on my face. I didn't have many friends, but out of the ones I did have Cade was my best friend and the first to find his mate and get married. I was nothing but honored to be standing next to him on his special day. The seats were filled with Rachel's close family and friends. Her mom sat front and center with an overly excited grin on her face. Mrs. Carter sat next to her with a polite smile on her face, but her eyes glared daggers at me. Music began to softly play from the speakers and my attention was drawn to the cutest little boy in a tux walking down the aisle. I smiled, big and proud of my boy as he brought the pillow with the rings on it down to the altar. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Mrs. Carter scrutinizing me as I watched James. 'Great. If she didn't know before, now she's going to figure it out on her own.' 'And that's a problem? Now she will know that she cannot just take our son without our pe
Johnathan's POV The day had been a blur. After the girls came in from talking on the porch, Airen looking determined and shooting Rachel with dark looks, and Rachel looking very concerned and guilty, we had all eaten our fill. A good thing too, because we haven't had a thing to eat since. There was a sandwich and snack table set up earlier around lunchtime, but Cade and I had been busy dealing with some setup issues that had come up. By the time we got back the food was gone and cleaned up and the party planner, some girl named Lily, said that we couldn't have anything else until the reception tonight. I'd nearly growled at her I was so hungry. After showering and being hidden away in Cade's room we began to get ready. Airen had brought James by so he could hang out with us for a while earlier. Unfortunately, she wasn't dressed yet, so I couldn't get a sneak peek at her in her dress. James had been ready though, and he had giggled when I pouted and whined about not seeing Airen in h
Airen's POV BUZZ. BUZZ. BUZZ. I groaned blindly reaching for my phone where the incessant buzzing noise was coming from. It wasn't my alarm, or it would be screaming at me, not buzzing. Who was calling me at this hour? Suddenly the buzzing stopped. Great. I was going to have to call whoever it was back. BUZZ. BUZZ. BUZZ. Or not. Something reached over me and grabbed the phone. A moment later something warm and deliciously soft pressed against my ear. "Who's Ryker?" My eyes flew open. I turned to see a not so pleased looking Johnathan holding my still buzzing phone. RYKER was spelled out in bold white letters across the screen along with a picture of the offending caller. "Who. Is. Ryker?" Johnathan growled again, his voice deep and rough from just waking up. His blue eyes were no longer blue, but black and I could practically feel the tension in his body. Every muscle was coiled like a spring, ready to attack. I swore under my breath. "Give me that." I reached for my phone
Airen's POV "How long Airen?" The words came out as a low growl causing his chest to rumble with the vibrations. I gulped. "I-" He cut me off. "Don't lie to me. And if you say 'I don't know' again I swear to the moon goddess I will put you over my knee." He quirked an eyebrow at me as though daring me to test him on it. I bit my lip.
