"Petl, I made a grave mistake that night and I never want to repeat it. We had sex and I take the blame for using your feelings to take advantage of you."

She hit his chest. Lucian leaned forward and pulled the door shut. He didn't want the walls hearing what they had to say.

"You didn't take advantage of me! I wanted it the same way you did. It was mutual."

Lucian shook his head. "It wasn't, Petl. It wasn't mutual. I didn't feel anything. I only wanted to satisfy myself and I made a wrong decision by preying on you. Please, can we not talk about this?"

Petl sniffed and wiped her face with the back of her sleeve. "Is this what it is? Is this what it is? Are you going to pick that lady over me? She's human, remember? She's a filthy human. From a race you despise, remember?"

Lucian nodded. His eyes were distant. "I am aware of that. It's not my fault that my wolf cries for her all the time. I didn't choose this."
