Logically, I know that Jae could simply put security guards outside my house and keep me safe that way. But I understand what he's saying about having a biological need to personally take care of me because I feel a biological need too, to stay here with both my mate and our son.

Safe, in our home... even though this is definitely not my home. Somehow, it doesn't bother me.

I actually want to stay here, against all logic. This time I’m choosing to listen to my instincts.

I will not put myself or my son at risk just because of old resentment.

"Alright," I finally say, "We'll stay here."

Jae smiles at me like he never has before, like a little boy. His cheeks almost look chubby, like Tate's. He looks very cute smiling like this.

Dangerously cute. Because he’s a literal wolf in sheep’s clothing and I can’t forget that.

"I'll take you to pick up some suitcases tomorrow. And..." he pauses for a second, looking away, "I'll make dinner every day. And I'll pick up Tate every day."
