Chapter Twenty - Six

MAX POV

Alexis stared at her hands. “Sometimes, when I tell people about my childhood, they pity me and make it seem like I missed out on something because I was homeschooled and pretty much never met anyone else asides my Mum and the mailman until I was about fifteen. But I think my childhood was perfect. I enjoyed those precious moments with my Mum.”

I placed my hands atop hers and said, “There’s no award for the best childhood.” Alexis looked up at me again and I noticed that the tears were rolling too.

“Thank you, Max. Your words are a confidence booster.”

I smiled, “Always glad to be of help to you.”

She took her fifth sandwich and took a large bite out of it. She chewed and swallowed then said, “Now tell me, how was your childhood?”

“My childhood was pretty normal. I grew up with the burden of inheriting a conglomerate. However my parents were loving to the best of their abilities. My mother is very straight forward and so, I wasn’t cuddled every night and anything of sort.
