Chapter Twenty - Seven

LUKE’S POV

I arrived in the country after a long time. It was a rather planned trip. I wanted to put some distance between myself and Eve. I had lost all control and given in to her yet my alpha’s instinct had said against that. So after the sexual encounter, I had been in such a great state of guilt that I couldn’t even stand to be in the same city as her. I had also ghosted everybody even Max.

Now, I was back. However, I was sure that I didn’t want to see Eve again. I don’t know but for some weird reason, I thought seeing her again would cause more harm than good.

I was in my house and just enjoying more alone time and trying to strategize how to avoid Eve and explain myself to Max. I heard the doorbell ring. I wasn’t expecting anyone. Plus, not a lot of people knew where I lived too. I had also sent my housekeepers and other helps away because I wanted time alone.

I walked up to the door and stared through the camera display. There was no one outside. Who was playing tricks with
