Killian's POV

I could see the war playing out in her mind, the logic screaming up at her to shove me away, the other part of her desiring my doing the exact opposite.

I smirked.

Celeste hated when I smirked.

Her nostrils flared. “You’re insufferable.”

I nodded. “I know.”

“I hate you.”

I leaned closer. “No, you don’t.”

Her lips opened, but no words emerged.

My eyes fell to her mouth again, my eyes catching how she was breathing just a little too quick, the grip of her fingers tightened even more into the sheets.

She wanted me to kiss her.

I knew it. She knew it.

And that was precisely why I didn’t.

So I seized her wrist and flipped them pulling her onto me in one smooth motion.

Celeste yelped and placed her hands on my chest as she straddled me.

“What the hell…”

“Seeing as how you love sneaking around so much,” I murmured as I held her closer by the waist, “maybe I ought to keep you here.”

Killian's POV She let out a shaky breath. “Finally.” I laughed softly. “Impatient now?” She took hold of my face to lower me to kiss her deeply. “Shut up and fuck me, Killian.” I also didn’t need to be told twice. And when I finally gave her what she’d been begging for, she moaned my name as if it was all she knew how to say. We moved together, a perfect rhythm, collision of passion and raw need. Her nails raked along my spine, her body, pliant and arch, curled into mine as the build of tension continued, higher and higher, until neither could take it anymore. But when we finally reached that breaking point, when everything around us faded until the world became just the two of us. A loud knock broke the moment. We both froze, panting. The knock sounded again, more insistent. “Killian!” Logan, his voice carrying through the door. “We have a situation.” Celeste groaned and buried her face in the pi

  • Alpha's Cursed Twain   Chapter 48: Meet My New Partner

Selene’s POVThe thick red-purple smoke curling in the air started to thin, uncovering the modern room. Sunlight gleamed through the large windows and cast rays on the marble floor. The cauldron in the center of the room was still brimming with a liquid colour that sparkled.Leaning against one of the kitchen tables I stared across at Vanessa and Celeste who were walking through the front doors. They were smiling, they didn’t even know what they just entered into.Beside me the little goblin thing chuckled throatily, then winked out with a twisting of his ugly form. In his stead stood Daemon. He was tall and handsome, well over six feet in height. Shoulders, chest, slim waist. Everything about him was just right. His black hair fell to past his shoulders; perfectly chiseled features showed off eyes which glowed that red I had seen earlier. To all extents he appeared human.Daemon flexed, creating an image of the mythical completely at ease within his new skin. “Ah, I’ve missed free

Selene's POVDaemon’s gaze flicked to it and then back to me.A long pause stretched between us.And then, after a slow exhale, he took the dagger from my hand.I didn’t make a move. Neither did he.He didn’t move for a moment, just holding the knife, his hand clenching tighter around it. The silence seemed to crackle with energy. And then, quick as lightning, he jolted his hand and drew the blade across his palm. The blood that flowed was strange; black and thick.Daemon barely flickered. His eyes were staring at me with a warning. I ignored him, and he held out his other hand and let the blood start to drip slowly onto the floor beneath him.The instant the first drop splattered against the marble tiles, power surged.Daemon sucked in a sharp breath, his body jerking violently. His head snapped back, his spine arching unnaturally. His fingers twitched, the dagger falling from his grasp and clattering onto the floor. His breath came out raggedly, and his eyes turned white. The air gr

Selene's POV I slid the ring on and looked at Daemon, who was suddenly all smirky again. Leaning against the counter with his arms now folded over his chest, he watched me.“Let’s get ready,” I said, stretching my arms to the ceiling and standing up straight.Daemon arched his brow. “We’re getting ready and you won’t tell me why?”I turned slightly to look in the small mirror hanging on the wall, fixing my hair as if I had all night to do that. “To see if everything’s working like it’s supposed to.”His smirk widened, but there was something speculative in his gaze. “You really enjoy stirring the pot, don’t you?”I turned back to him, smile widening. “Only when the soup is worth tasting.”Daemon chuckled, shaking his head. “You’re a handful.”Closing the distance between us I stood close enough to feel the heat radiating off his body. He tensed, making me smile wider.“Step back,” I murmured, lifting my hands in front of me.Daemon sighed but did as I asked and stepped back.I closed

In a matter of moments, her breathing had slowed.“Finally, I thought you'll never sleep,” I whispered. I approached, observing her in silence. So vulnerable. Killian’s POVIt was a stinking, cloying scent of something man-made that hung in the wind in a smell of rain and smoke. Victor’s voice sliced through the comms, crisp and urgent.“He’s here. I think Sam is here, Alpha.”The words coursed through me. My pulse pounded as I looked to my team, Logan next to me, Victor was several steps back, and a dozen of my best wolves fanned out and were prepared to act. Sam had entered my domain. He was either careless or scheming. And if I knew Sam, he was reckless never.“Let’s move,” I said, and I was already leaving.Their boots thundered on pavement as we barreled through the streets, our wolves on high alert. The city stretched out beyond blinking lights and shadows. Some places were quiet, abandoned, while others thrummed with life and ignorant humans moving along the sidewalks, cars cruising by, oblivious to the hunt taking place around them.Victor guided us down an alley, with his nose. “His scent is here.”I smelled it too. It was faint an

Killian’s POVThe underground medical hub was colder than normal. The lingering smell of antiseptic hung in the air, overlaid the dried blood and sweat. The machines beeped at steady intervals, but the mood in the room was anything but stable. My colleagues and I circled the restrained corpse of Elias Carter, a man whose name had appeared in the news for three weeks straight as a missing person. Now he was here and hardly human. I was not prepared to explain to him the process of what it's like becoming a wolf. They were so mad when they found out.And Sam was going too far. But if the cops found out about this, it would cause an uproar. I didn't want anything to happen that would upset the human and supernatural treaty. It’s taken us centuries to make a deal like that. His change wasn’t like the others. The victims who had come before him had been poisoned, their bodies bent beyond repair, but Elias was different. There was no rot in evidence, no blackened veins, no sickly pallor. Hi

  • Alpha's Cursed Twain   Chapter 54: The Ambush

Killian’s POVThe night had a sharp bite with the wind whispering over the rusted metal of the shipping containers. The yard was expansive, extending in all directions like a steel cemetery, stacked containers with their sides up creating a maze of frozen iron.My team stepped as one, our feet whispering against the pavement, our bodies trembling at what waited.Logan paced beside me, his eyes roving the darkened yard, and his fingers drifting low, near his knife. Victor was a step behind him, his gun in a tight grip, with quick steady breaths. All the men here had been lethal in their own right, trained to wartime combat, but the silence of the place was wrong. The Odor of the sea mingled with something damp, a fouler—oil, rust, and blood. It was a fresh kill.I held up a fist to signal a stop. The others immediately stood still. Victor nodded, opening his mouth, and took a breath. “Something is close.”Logan reached for his gun. “Could be a trap.”It was always a trap. I only had

Celeste’s POVI gasped for breath, my chest heaving as I sat up straight. My hands grabbed at the sheets, soaked with sweat; my pulse thumped so hard it vibrated in my skull. Darkness surrounded me, it was close and suffocating. Quickly, I turned on the lamp by my bedside. Something was wrong with me. Every night I woke up sweating with blood on my palm sometimes. I never remembered what I did and was scared I had hurt someone. I balled my fingers into fists, my nails biting into my palms, searching for a tether on the ground. But the nightmare continued to cling to me, unwilling to set me free.Killian’s voice echoed in my head. It was bitter and cruel.“I was never, ever going to let you go, Celeste. You were mine to break."I pressed my eyes shut tight, but images sizzled and burned behind my eyelids. Every time Killian's bloodied hand would reach for me.I couldn't take this anymore. “Leave me alone. Go away!” I yelled, covering my ears as the eerie whispering voice continued

Selene’s POV: Celeste was slipping.I watched her from the mirror every day, fighting against the seed of doubt I had put in her mind. It made me furious to see she still had the spirit to refuse me. I needed her to be done with Killian as fast as possible. Only a great heartbreak could fully awaken her power, and since she was under my spell. I would have access to her powers and be rewarded with immortality. She was almost there. I just needed to add more flame. Something to make her act out and lose Killian's trust. Each time she defied my instructions, I increased the spell’s effect. Twice, she fell off the bed, and I felt my blood boil when Killian came to check up on her just when I started. I made her attack him in her sleep, and he pinned her down till the next morning. She was pathetic, as I expected. On the seventh day, I had completely invaded her mind and made her stay longer doing what I asked. I kept creating and heightening her father's death at the hands of Killi

Celeste’s POVThe darkness lay out before me, waiting still. They reeked of gunpowder and of gas, of memories of where I was and what sort of world this was that I was a captive in. Killian vanished into the dark alley. I had been observing him for days, building up his actions, waiting to get the timing perfect to reveal him for who he actually was.A murderer. The man who killed my father. The image burned my mind, pushing me on as I crept noiselessly down the manor corridors. I easily moved past the room leading to the doorway. The lower I descended, the more I felt smothered. I kept following him, and almost gave up when he walked into another hallway. I remained behind, resting against the courtyard wall as Killian stood beneath the faint illumination of the overhead light bulbs. He was not alone. There were other men around him, and they were standing too close. His tone was low, and each sentence softly commandingly declared. "The delivery will be made at dawn. Any hindra

  • Alpha's Cursed Twain   Chapter 71: A Mind Unraveling

Killian’s POVCeleste's body trembled in my arms, her breath turned irregular, her chest became cold. The moment I saved her back from falling, something within me twisted. It was the sick, disgusting awareness that I had nearly lost her.I had saved her from committing suicide, but that was not what unsettled me. When I pulled her away from the hug gradually, I noticed her eyes. They glowed…green. No normal wolf had eyes like that, and even if she weren't a normal wolf. I had first seen her eyes when her birthmark had glowed and they were blue. She floated in and out of consciousness from the second I drew her away from the edge of the stairs."Celeste," I whispered, shaking her lightly. But She gave no response. Her lashes fluttered, and her lips opened, but she was held by whatever nightmare pulled at her below. My jaw tightened as I dragged her back in. As her body tensed in my arms, a harsh whisper fell from her lips."Please…don't…kill him."Kill who?I was scared for her. She'd

Celeste’s POVI felt warm and safe. Killian’s steady breathing kept me at peace. His arm held me closer to him. I could stay like this forever. I felt it, the sudden movement of something creepy pressing against my chest. My mouth opened slightly as I tried to breathe in, and a gust of air moved in my nose and mouth. “Wake up,” the voice whispered. It wasn't mine and I couldn't ignore it. “Wake up,” it commanded. Its voice was stronger and I shivered. My eyelids opened, even when I felt sleepy. I got off the bed and slowly turned my gaze to Killian. He stirred in his sleep, turning a little bit to his right. I felt a silent war waged inside me. What was wrong with me? I couldn't control my body. “Killian is a liar.” The voice in my head spoke. It was confident and demanding. I listened to every one of its words and agreed with every one of them. “For myself,” I repeated calmly and glared at Killian with a murderous intent. Staring at him, the room changed into a different

Selene’s POV“Cumhacht mo chroí…” I chanted. “daingnigh mo lámha,...”The wind started and dropped. I was losing concentration. “Ugh,” I groaned. “What the hell?” I took a deep breath and started all over. “Cumhacht mo chroí, daingnigh mo lámha,Ceangail mo neart, stiúir mo bhrí.Le fuil agus anam, fan i gceart,Is mise an draoi, i gcothromaíocht sí.”Reciting the spell for control while I was losing control of my anger didn't do anything. I gave up and stood from the floor. “Hell, this is stupid!” I yelled and sat on my bed, fuming. My eyes went to the flickering candlelight on the bedside table. The flames mocked me. It had been days since Killian dared to ban me from training Celeste, and the rage inside me burned hotter than I remembered.Squeezing the sheets on the bed, my nail tore at the fabric. How dare he? How dare he stand between me and her? I hated his protectiveness. How was I supposed to mold her if I was locked out? Lord Malthus would not be pleased if he knew. I

Joan’s POVThe first bullet shot went past my ear, and I dodged. It embedded itself into the metal crate beside me. Then another came, hitting one of my men directly in the chest, causing his body to jerk before he hit the floor. “Sam! I'm going to kill you!” I yelled. All hell broke loose. A deafening barrage of gunfire filled the warehouse without any signs of stopping. “Not if I kill you first,” Sam responded and half his men transformed into werewolves. My men followed, and each group attacked, digging their claws and teeth into the otherSam and his men continued shooting, and I hid behind the stack of metal crates to reload my gun. I had fallen for his trap. “Keep them cornered! Don't let them regroup!” Lucas commanded his team. I gnawed. If only I could get my hands on him. I looked out from my hiding place and fired three shots quickly. Lucas barely dodged the first two, and the third bullet struck his shoulder, making him stagger backward. His eyes fell on mine and I

Her hesitation made her weak. And in this world, weakness was a killer’s sentence.I finally made it to my room and closed the door. Locking it was merely a formality, as one would ever dare enter without knocking. When I dragged my bed aside, I revealed what few people had known existed. A steel hatch set into the floor. I crouched, prying it open. The cool air blew up from below, bear
