“Don’t be sad,” I mumbled to my goat, Charlie.

Charlie munched his grass in response. I knew I was projecting my feelings to him. I was incredibly sad, and I believed it hard a lot to do with Maya. I didn’t understand why she couldn’t feel the connection that we shared.

She just went about with that idiot. I’m not even sure she knows his true reality. He was good at subtlety, and I had no idea how to tell her the truth. It was evident that she wouldn’t believe me if that were to happen.

“She is quite a handful, isn’t she?” I queried.

Charlie chewed his grass even more. I took that as his sign of acceptance. Of course, he would accept everything I said. He didn’t have a choice. I was the one who took care of him, and not Maya.

The thought made me smile, and I went about my work doing what I knew how to do best. I cleaned the backyard, and fed some of the chickens in their poultry.
