Mate Bond

Cora walked through the city streets at night, she was so confused and didn’t know where to go. Amidst the silent night and quiet streets, her wolf Lucy spoke to Cora.

"Where do you want to go?" Lucy asked her.

"I don't know. Maybe we'll find a cheap motel!" Cora said.

Lucy exhaled, "Hmmm, I told you from the beginning that I don't like Dave. He doesn't love you." She protested.

"Lucy, he's my mate! The Moon Goddes set it for me. I can't deny my destiny!" countered Cora.

Lucy was a little put off by Cora’s words. Lucy felt that Cora could have rejected Dave then, even though it would have been painful, but it was much better than the pain Cora was feeling now. Lucy knew Dave's true character was terrible, but Cora had already accepted him.

"Because you can’t deny it, now you're feeling the consequences of not trusting your instincts. What do you get for being Dave's Luna for all these years, other than to be treated like trash!" Lucy scolded her.

Hearing what Lucy said, Cora felt even more depressed and wanted to end her life. Cora stood on a bridge. She wants to jump into the rushing river below. But then Lucy stopped her.

"No, Cora, this isn't a way to solve your problems! You have to live and take revenge on Dave and Mia." Lucy said to Cora.

"I want to die, Lucy. Please let me go!" Cora cried out.

The situation became precarious as Cora almost lost consciousness. Her body is still weak due to the effects of the rejection from Dave.

"Cora, you aren't alone! We're not losers and we have to be strong together. Trust me, okay?" Lucy said.

Cora's emotions overflow in her heavy breathing. She also felt heat and pain all over her body, her claws came out, and her hair spread out. She also tore her clothes apart until all her furs show up. Now Cora shifted into a wolf and Lucy takes over her.

They're running fast towards the Arun Forest on the border of the city. Cora and Lucy try to reconnect with nature to gain their inner strength. When Cora becomes a wolf, her sense of smell becomes very keen and her hearing can reach a radius of several miles. Her eyes also become red.

Lucy finally stopped on a hill. She paused for a moment. Then she heard a man's heavy voice.

"What are you doin' here on my territory?!" the man said.

Lucy looked around. She saw bushes moving in front of her, then a man in a thick gray and furry cloak stepped out from behind that bushes. Cora is naked now when shifted back into a human form.

"You're a werewolf too? How dare you enter the Crescent Pack territory without permission!" the man shouted.

Hearing the man's accusations, the formerly despondent Cora felt that now was a good time to end her life. It might be better if she was killed by another werewolf when Lucy wouldn't let her kill herself.

"Kill me! There is no point in living if I've to suffer all the time!" said Cora loudly.

The man was astonished. He had a deep look in Cora's eyes. He found Cora so beautiful.

"Oh, my God! he's your second chance mate." said Lucy inside Cora’s head.

Cora realized that the man in front of her, was her second chance mate. The man could smell the pungent pheromones and feel his mate's bond. And without thinking. He opened the cloak he was wearing. He approached Cora.

"Do you feel what I feel?" asked Cora with tears in her eyes. "I thought I was going to die in your hands. But it turns out you're..."

"I'm your second chance mate!" said the man. Then they looked at each other.

She was stunned when the man's chest looked twice as muscular as Dave's. Cora was also a little tempted by the smell of the man's body.

"What happened to you? Who are you?" the man asked again.

They sat down in the moonlight.

"I'm Cora! I just became a rogue. I'm a Luna from Blood Moon Pack before but i got rejected. It’s a worst tragedy that ever happened in my life,” explained Cora with solemn face.

The man just smiled. "It seems that the Moon Goddes have destined me to save you. I should take you to a healer in my pack. We'll talk more later when you're better," he said.

"What's your name?" Cora asked suddenly.

"I'm Ethan, Alpha of the Crescent Pack." He replied with a smile.

" I know your pack, the strongest in Eastern Siberia," Cora said.

They both smiled at each other. Then Ethan took Cora to his house pack. There Cora was immediately treated by some healer.

From the moment Cora stepped into the gate of the Crescent House Pack. She had a feeling of everyone’s eyes were on her.

"Ethan! Why are they watching me closely?" Cora asked.

Ethan chuckled, "Maybe because you're so beautiful, Cora!”

"You're making me nervous!" Cora said. "Um, or is it because I'm wearing your robe?" She continued.

Ethan didn't answer her. He immediately approached an Elder while Cora entered the house pack with the guidance of the healer. Cora got her wounds treated. The healer restores Cora's health and clothes her.

"You just rest now! If you need help, ring the bell next to your bed and I'll come." said the healer, and Cora just nodded.

When she was about to close her eyes to get some sleep, there was a faint sound of people talking outside the healer's room. They seemed to be the healer apprentices.

"That's the first time I've seen our Alpha smile with that woman," one of the apprentices said.

"Yes, it's been a few months since Clara our Luna passed away. His face is always gloomy, and his demeanor has become cold and weak." Another apprentice said.

"Maybe the woman he brought is our new Luna!"

She heard their conversation and then she wanted to get up from the bed and go out to find Ethan. But a healer returned and gave Cora a glass of potion.

"Where do you want to go? Just relax. If anything happens to you, Ethan will blame me." The healer explained.

Cora lay down on the bed once more.

"I want to know something about Ethan!" Cora said.

The healer seemed to understand and smiled at Cora. “If you want to know something about Ethan, just ask the man himself. He will answer all your question.”
