HAZEL'S POV;Soon, everyone returned back to the amphitheater and once again, the games began. The game that was being held now was performed by very strong and skilled warriors who fought with beasts."These ones actually die," Barrymore said to her. He was standing by her side. She looked at him. "Can't we rescue them before any harm is done?"Barrymore looked at me like I was ridiculous before bursting into laughter. "When it was said that only skilled and strong Warriors were allowed to participate, I am sure you heard,""Yes, I heard," I replied, sounding a bit offended that he still looked at me like a novice. "That doesn't mean they can't be helped,""Wait until you see the beasts they're fighting. You'll know if you want to help or just stay away for the sake of your safety,"I huffed and watched him walk away. Whatever the bullshit he was talking about, I wasn't going to stand here and watch downtown die when it was obvious that I could help.I looked around the arena, catchi
HAZEL'S POV;After everything, it was over. The morning games ended in the afternoon and four hours were left till the games tonight were held.Regan, who sat by me at the table, nudged me. I realized that I had stopped eating for a while and staring into space with a daze.I looked at him. "What is it?""You look so lost," He said and threw a chunk of meat into his mouth. "Are you thinking about him?"I shot him a look. "Thinking of who?"He wiggled his brows and I glared at him. "Thinking of Alpha Xavier,"I snorted. "There's nothing to think of about him. He's off limits,""Off limits doesn't mean I don't see that look in your eyes,"I dropped the bread in my hand and it clattered on the plate. "What look?""The look of, I need you right now, come fuck me," He said in a sensual tone and began to moan so loud, causing everyone to burst into laughter.I suddenly lost my appetite. Standing to my feet, I glared down at him. "You can enjoy your meal alone. As for me, I'll be going to ma
HAZEL'S POV; It felt like we had been waiting for so long for this. For someone who rejected me from being his mate yesterday, he didn't seem like he really did. He gathered me in his arms, kissing fervently and caressing the nape of my neck as he pushed my head towards him. His tongue snaked out and twirled with mine, causing me to moan in delight. I felt weak in the knees and I felt like I was going to explode at this moment. I didn't want it to end. I wanted to be more than just against him. I wanted to be underneath his skin, cocooning myself in the layers of his strength. My arms instinctively wrapped around him and I pushed my breasts against him, making sure he wanted more of me. He couldn't hold back. His lips traveled from my lips to my chin, kissing slowly and getting to my neck. I tilted my head to the side and moaned in pleasure. "Xavier..." I whispered. He stopped for a moment and I whined. "Do you want me to stop?" "No," I said and stared into his eyes. "I need you
XAVIER'S POVIt happened so fast. She was fast asleep in my arms and all I could do was stare at her. She looked so peaceful and really beautiful while asleep. One wouldn't even believe she was capable of killing brutally and possessing such great strength. Her hair fanned out behind her head and I was taken back to those times when her hair wasn't as long as this. She used to cut it in a pixie style and I thought she was a really cute boy blooming into great handsomeness but that wasn't the case. She was a woman. It delighted me more than it hurt me. If I was going to be honest with myself, I was straight as a stick and didn't have gay tendencies. The male gaze didn't appeal to me. Rather, it repelled me.This isn't me against queer people. It wasn't just my things.I lay back on the bed and watched the sun go down. The next game was supposed to start at eight and I was going to be participating. It was still six and I had to meet some of the guards who were giving the drills.Felix
XAVIER'S POV;Tonight, the amphitheater was more filled than it was this evening.I wasn't at my seat and that was because I was contesting tonight. I stood behind a large cage with a few men behind me. They were fighting other opponents and it was all going to happen tonight.I had no idea what had been planned today. Every year, the Lycan Confederate came up with a new way to make the game more interesting and dangerous.Last year, I hadn't participated but I had watched and seen that there were mazes that had been built into the ground. I shook my head.I didn't want to think about it and what it had done to those men. It was gruesome. Really gruesome.Just as I was about to turn to the other men, Iris came to me. A smile coated my face as soon as I saw her.She wasn't smiling. My smile faltered."What's wrong?"Her fingers wrapped around the cage's rods and she closed her eyes and sighed. "It's not going to be easy out there,"I chuckled. "I know it isn't going to be. Do you think
XAVIER'S POV;Four of our men were down to the ground. It was futile trying to help them. We had stopped for a while to rescue them but one of the arrows had pierced through the arms of another and he fell to the front before picking himself up and running for his life and into the next puzzle.I stood there for a while, looking around fractionally, wondering how I could help these wounded men.The other team was way past us but they waited at the end of this puzzle. Bastards. If they were waiting for us to get to them, they were going to be there for a long time. The amphitheater was lit up by large flood lights. We were way past the tent where I could see Iris from. I wanted to look at her and feel a flicker of hope. There was a sense of peace and certainty her presence brought but she wasn't here.I turned back and continued moving with the others. We were six left. Ten men on this team and ten men on the other.Four of our men were already dead but there was still a chance for the
HAZEL'S POV;Felix was asked by Xavier to sleep in my room. I wasn't aware when he told Felix that. I had been walking down the corridor, towards his room to inform him that I had somehow seen Barrymore and told him about it but when I got to his room, the door was open and he was standing there, shirtless. He turned to look at me like he was waiting for me and when he saw me, he tipped a glass of wine at me. I raised my brow in slight confusion and entered the room. "Where did you get the wine and flute from?" He shrugged and took a sip. "I asked one of the maids to bring it to me and she did,""Perks of being a royal, huh?"He shrugged and walked to the window, gently placing the cup on the sill and filling the other. "Do you know our pack is the smallest? And yet, we get constantly attacked,""Why is that?" I asked and drew close to him. He handed the glass to me and I took it from his hand, nodding at him in appreciation. "I also don't know," He replied. "Let's for
HAZEL'S POV;I woke up in Xavier's arms. He was fast asleep with his arms wrapped around my waist. I lay in his arms, smiling and watching him sleep. He looked so peaceful asleep. It was almost dawn. The dark night was slowly starting to fade away into dawn. I knew he wasn't going to be awake for a long time. My body has a way of waking me up really early and that was why I was up. I knew I was going back to sleep after sometime and just as I was about to, he stirred and opened his eyes slowly. He saw me awake and sat up a bit with a smile on his face and in his groggy voice, he said. "You're awake. For how long now?"I shrugged. "About ten minutes?""Up watching me?"I chuckled and placed my head on his chest. "I actually want to go back to sleep now,""Then let's," He said and pulled me back into his arms. He kissed my forehead and my shoulders before pulling me into him and we went back to sleep. By the time we were awake again, the sun had risen and was pouring into the room fr
