ONEKA’S POV

“Who’s there?” My eyes visibly widened as I recognized the voice. He was coming for us. And he would find us. He definitely knows someone is already here. There is no point in lying.

“It's Cameron!” Athena hushed. My heart raced as I heard Cameron's footsteps drawing near, his silhouette darkening the moonlit night. Panic set in, realizing we had been caught sneaking up late. I turned to Athena and Maggie, urgency etched across their faces.

"Quick, Athena, use the scent covering potion I gave you earlier," I whispered urgently. "Mom, head towards the woods, your scent is already covered. Athena, make a run from behind the bushes, so Cameron doesn't spot you."

Mom, however, questioned, "Why are you staying back? We should all leave before he finds us.”

I glanced at Cameron's approaching figure and explained in a hushed tone, "If we all scatter, he'll get suspicious, especially since Athena isn't in the pack right now. It could cause trouble. I'll stay back and handle this.

ATHENA'S POVThe night wrapped around me like a velvet cloak. Every corridor echoed with the hushed whispers of the night, and the moonlight spilled through the windows, casting ethereal shadows on the walls. Each breath I took seemed amplified, a bundle of nerves and anticipation as I navigated the quiet passages.Upon reaching my room, I gingerly closed the door. The darkness within felt like a conspirator, concealing my late-night venture. My hand fumbled for the light switch, but before I could illuminate the room, a voice emerged from the shadows, shattering the illusion of solitude."Finally back?" Xavier's voice, a mixture of surprise and stern authority, made me jump. The sudden presence of his silhouette was an unwelcome revelation. Shit! He was back. With a swift motion, I switched on the lights, and there he stood, his eyes scrutinizing my every move. My heart raced, and a sigh of relief morphed into a nervous giggle that escaped my lips."Where have you been?" Xavier's ton

ATHENA'S POV“I found my mate.” I stilled. And blinked. Once. Twice. Thrice. And then again. Oh dear Moon Goddess. Shit. This couldn't be happening. Did Oneka get busted? Did Cameron tie her up and drag her back with him here? Fuck, what was happening? I mentally prayed to the Moon Goddess that was not the case. I could see that Cameron was nervous talking about this. The sweat beads on his forehead were clearly visible. He was shaking his leg, and his hands were turning clammy as he entwined them. “Really? Congratulations? Who is she? Where is she? Did you show her to your room?” Xavier got excited and could actually feel the happiness he felt for his friend in his tone. Cameron was Xavier's closest buddy before being the beta of this pack. And here he was genuinely happy for his friend for finally finding his mate. If only he knew, Cameron's mate was his half sister. Someone he would never accept to be a part of this pack. “I didn't actually show her to my room.” Cameron sighed in

The torches along the damp stone walls flickered, casting dancing shadows that mirrored the turmoil within me. The weight of the metal keys at my belt clinked softly, a constant reminder of the impending confrontation awaiting me.Approaching the heavy iron door leading to the dungeons, my grip tightened around the reinforced leather gloves I wore. The moonlight outside filtered through small, barred windows, casting an ethereal glow on the path ahead. SCARLET'S POV“Are you out of your mind, Scarlet?” I flinched at the tone my brother used at me. I had never seen him so out of composure. “What were you thinking running back here like a coward?” I face my brother’s accusatory gaze as anger simmered within me. Was he kidding me? He was blaming me? For coming back? Really? That's all I meant to him? A pawn to use for his plans? Did we have no other relation apart from him controlling me like a puppet for as far as I remember?“Are you even hearing yourself? I did my best, Cyrus! I did every fucking painful thing for you to achieve your goals. And this is how you repay me? By putting it all on me when you knew I had no other choice! I did my best Cyrus!” I defended, my voice booming and competing against his sharp one. He can't do this to me. It was enough. It was time he actually started treating me like a sister. Not his puppet. “You are one to call me a coward when all this time you have hidden behind the shadows and used everyone e

SCARLET'S POV“Let her go, Cyrus. Don't be so harsh with her! It's not her fault things turned out the way we didn't plan.” Cyrus raised an eyebrow in amusement before abruptly letting go off my shoulder. A crazed, sinister look marked his face as he turned completely to face Panton. His lips curled at one corner evilly as he gave Panton the ‘you are dead’ look. “Of course. You'd be one to say that.” Cyrus started taking threatening steps towards Panton, while he stood his ground observing Cyrus' every move silently. I don't know what was going to happen. But I could smell the smoke before the giant fire. Things were about to go very wrong. And I didn't want to witness it. Not like this at least. My brother had lost his mind, and he would now go on a killing rampage if he didn't get what he wanted. His expression said everything clearly. My heart broke, thinking about what had happened to him. To us. He was never like this. We were never like this. But I guess mom’s and dad’s death

ATHENA'S POV“Is everything ready?” I asked Oneka as I fixed my hair. Honestly, I curse the day I decided to take the matters of planning this whole event myself. Xavier was right, I should have just hired an event planner. “Relax, Athena. You seriously worry too much. Everything is under control.” “I hope so,” I sighed, giving a little twist to the lock of my hair that was framing my forehead before finally giving myself an overview in the mirror. “Here, fix your lipstick a bit.” Oneka handed me the shade I was wearing and I blushed remembering why it needed to be fixed. Of course, Xavier barged in a few minutes ago, as soon as I got my makeup done and kissed the living shit out of me because he said, and I quote ‘You don't expect me to behave when you deprive me of yourself for too long.’ I didn't even take that long to get ready, to be honest. But who can get anything into the thick head of the big bad Alpha. “Are the kids ready?” I sat on the bed to put on my heels. “Yeah. I

ATHENA'S POV“Are you sure you want to do this?” I held Oneka's hand into mine, giving it a gentle squeeze. She had gone through a lot. Suffered a lot. Cameron betrayed each and everyone of us in the worst way. But the impact it left on Oneka, was compared to no one else. The heartbreak, the pain she felt was unlike any other person who was connected to him from the pack. She sighed, her hands shaking ever so slightly that if I wasn't holding them, I would have missed the action. “I'll…” her voice cracked before taking a deep breath. “I'll be fine, Athena. I've known Pi for way longer than I've known Cameron. I think with Cameron, it was just never meant to be. Being with Pi, I think, just comes naturally. It's like I'd never had to try to be myself with him. Looks like I was just in denial or a fool to realize it, when everyone around us literally teased us about being a couple.” She smiled sadly, her eyes holding gratitude for the guy who supported her throughout her life, nonethe

It was as if the heavens themselves were mourning alongside me, shedding tears that mirrored the desolation in my heart."Athena?"Oneka's voice pierced through the silence, pulling me back from the abyss of my thoughts. I turned my head slightly, acknowledging her presence without uttering a word. She entered my room with a tenderness that only she possessed, wrapping her arms around me in a sideways embrace."It's time," she whispered, her voice barely audible above the sound of the rain. XAVIER'S POVMy hurt twisted, not being able to fathom the fact that I was so close to losing everything in my life. Let me rephrase that. I was close to losing my life. That's what I felt currently knowing that my mate and my pup were fighting for their damn lives in that closed coven. And all I could do was wait. And stand like a fool, be of absolute no help. “She'll be alright,” A voice broke me out of my thoughts. I turned around to see it was Maggie. “She’s a fighter. I know she will get through this.” I felt a pang in my heart seeing her like this. In one flesh. Unlike my mother. “No one gave you the right to speak to me. Just because you are not dead right now, doesn't mean you can talk to me. I'm the Alpha of my pack.” Instead of getting scared like she was earlier in my choke hold, she had the audacity to smile. It was a sad one. But nonetheless. It was a smile. A one I hated seeing. She doesn't deserve to smile after putting my mother in misery. “You're just like him. You

The witch's gnarled fingers danced with precision as she added ingredients to the bubbling liquid, her movements both fluid and deliberate.Glancing towards the couch where Athena lay, pallid and still, the witch's heart clenched with sympathy and regret. The last Arctic Wolf on earth lay motionless, her breath shallow and pulse weakening with each passing moment. The witch knew the gravity of the situation; if the potion failed, there would be no hope left to preserve this majestic creature, nor to propagate her species for generations to come. With a resolve born of desperation, the witch quickened her pace, the liquid in the cauldron simmering with an otherworldly intensity. Each ingredient added was a whispered plea to the forces of nature, a plea for Ath

XAVIER'S POVShe did it again. The light blinded us all as the wind gushed past our figures, slicing the silence with a heavy rustle forcing us to close our eyes to prevent them from catching dust that was suspended around us. It took a few seconds, maybe even minutes for everything to settle down and return back to normal when I was finally able to see again. My warriors who were not killed by the beasts, stood alive with some scratches and gashes. Oneka was held by the vampire guy who intervened. Scarlet stood out of the picture, sheltering Maggie behind a cover of bushes. She was here all this time? Why didn't she take part in the fight alongside her brother? Cameron lay dead on the ground. Cameron….My heart ached at the thought that he out of all people went against my back.My eyes fell on Cyrus, his body split into two like his other beast army. And then my heart technically bursted out of its ribcage when I saw Athena's wolf passed out on the ground. Not moving an inch. “Fuck

The rest of them, already split into two.The remnants of Xavier's werewolf army, though shaken by the onslaught, stood resolute, their spirits undaunted by the chaos that surrounded them. With steely determination, they rallied to their leader's side, their resolve unbroken by the specter of defeat.Everyone was shaken by the recent events but none had the idea of what it was.
