Chapter 3: Unexpected Attention
Lucas Milaro's POV:
"Mr. Milaro, Mr. Milaro," one reporter shouted gaining my attention causing me to turn back around to see how it was.
The sound of the voice was adamant and almost demanding in a feminine way that it called my unexpected attention to her. What I saw happened to shock me more than I expected. This woman was seemingly dressed in a fine dark blue dress that fell just below her knees as stepped forward at step. I looked her over slowly as he held a microphone out toward me and continued to speak over the others standing next to her.
"Amy Pierce, OXEM Channel 4 News," she continued as I studied the different details of her face. "Where are you planning on taking your company in the next 5 years to come, Sir?"
Well now, a woman after my own heart, I thought quietly to myself for a moment. She was even dressed to play the part. It made me wonder if she would be willing on joining me in our activities after this. Ramona liked it when I would occasionally have someone join us in our extracurricular activities, on occasion of course. However, the trouble with that was finding someone to play the part. She fit the bill but was she willing to be a participant? That was the question of this fine hour.
"Well, Miss Pierce," I started out saying as I adjusted my suit jacket once more, looking down to make sure my attire was in proper order before I looked her directly into her eyes. "As many of you know, my father's company has collected rare metals which were processed and refined by another company to be used in artificial limbs among other uses. He thought the metal was a great replacement for titanium as some people were allergic to it. My father used that metal I now use for AI applications and robotics, other than just for things such as simple prosthetics."
"Mr. Milaro," another reporter cut off Amy before she had a chance to speak up and interjected his comment. "Where are you planning on taking the company over the next year? Is it true that you plan on branching out to military applications?"
I looked at him and smiled as my eyes went back to meet the young and hot, Amy Pierce. I eyed her up and down again, attempting to undress her with my eyes as one corner of my mouth rose ever so slightly. I did not really care to answer his question but I would gladly answer her questions all day long. What I would not give to be able to take that and have at it, at a later point. Who knows, maybe she would be willing on joining us later on. I would talk to Ramona about it later to hear what her thoughts would be about it.
"Well, I guess you will just have to find that out on the 11 o'clock news like everyone else," I said cunningly as I squinted my eyes a bit in his direction as I turned my gaze back to meet Amy's eyes, only standing a few short feet away from me.
Ramona walked up behind me and wrapped her right hand around my waist letting me know she was there. Her left arm she maneuvered under my left arm and placed her hand on the top of my left shoulder, slightly pulling me back into her. Man, I loved it when a woman did that to me. She gently laid her cheek on the side of my shoulder as I reached up to grab her left hand with my right, turning to face her slightly looking deep into her eyes.
"Come on, dear," she whispered in a calm and persuasive tone. "It's about time we get inside. You are expected to give a speech here after a while anyway about what they are wanting to know. They can wait like everyone else."
"Well...," I said looking back at the sea of press spaned out in front of us, and with my next statement, I looked directly at Amy. "When a lady says it's time. I obey."
Amy looked up at me and even raised one eyebrow and smirked at my expression. I looked over at Ramona who had a devilish smile across her face as she knew exactly what I was referring to at that point. She then wrapped her arms around me fully as we stood there for a moment smiling at the press. The reporters always wanted to get a photo opportunity to take your picture. Who was I to deny them? Especially when this night was all about me and my company.
So, after a few moments, I figured they had a decent amount of pictures for their collection. During that time, it was almost as if you had to squint your eyes due to the amount of camera flashes that were all focused in your direction. I looked back at Ramona once more, and by her look, I knew she had enough and was ready to go inside. As I turned around to walk toward the entrance, the group of reporters tried to follow us inside.
However, Kennan, among the other door guards, prevented any of them from walking past the top step. This was a private event after all. Granted the press was going to be allowed inside a little later on, but only after the initial start of the event was well underway. They were allowed to view the speech portion of this event and do whatever it was that reporters did. However, in that, they were strictly informed that they were not allowed to ask any questions at that time. Viewing purposes only.
"How about we get a drink?" Ramona asked me, looking up at me from being tucked under my arm. "Waiting takes so long, and now I am thirsty. This has taken far too much of our time. We need to get inside."
I smirked at her as I leaned over and kissed the side of her head pulling her closer to me as we continued walking over to the door. There was a really nice bar located inside and I could use a drink myself. Once we were inside, I headed straight to the VIP lounge. It was more private than where everyone could go up and get a drink of their choice. As we walked along, I would occasionally look down at Ramona and she was admiring the ring I put on her finger earlier that day. I would raise one side of my mouth as I thought of how nice this day was so far. If it was this good, what could the future offer me?
I did have to agree with her on one thing as we stood there waiting to be attended. Waiting for this evening to be over with was taking too long. Especially when we were waiting on our drinks to be made as talking did make me a bit thirsty. Well, by thirsty, I am meaning I was thirsty for more than just alcohol. I knew the last time I attended one of these events, it was well after midnight before I finally managed to be free from everything. However at that time, I did not know Ramona back then, so I was forced to handle women at random.
They would want a piece of me at that time. All they saw was the money, and that was fine. All I saw in them was the potential of what they could do for me. That is why I have my own personal space at the Helliporium for such needs. Now that I have Ramona, she knows exactly what I like. I know what is needed to accomplish that task for her as well.
When Ramona has her drink in hand, we head off to the main ballroom so I can start to mingle with the people already enjoying themselves on this fine evening. Everything is panning out just nicely it seems.
I knew there was a certain schedule that everyone is going to conform to. In that, hereafter while there was going to be a fundraiser dinner. That was the portion where we would all adjourn to the next ballroom where there were tables set up for the meal. I had a light snack before we got here so I should be good till we actually ate. There were several charities that I was going to be supporting. I am not all that bad of a man after all. I do have a heart. However, I liked to support charities that would also grow my business. There is nothing that says you can't make yourself profitable when you're helping others out along the way. You just have to deal with the little people. As we walked down the stairs, I happened to notice a young woman staring right at me.

It really made me wonder what kind of evening I was going to be a part of. A fact is I have worked for this company for five very long, frustrating years and had hoped I would amount to something better than second-grade delivery for the mail room. Granted it was a job. It just wasn't my dream job. I knew how to manage a lot of things and one thing I was really good at was finances. I remember trying to get a job right after college and no one was hiring as I didn't have any experience at the time. Knowing all of that, my good friend Jules tried to get me on at the company he worked for. The same company he has worked at for nearly a decade now. However 5 years later for me, I was still in the mail room, no further in advancing my career as I thought I would when I previously started as a low-level blogger. The black suit went perfectly well with the charcoal grey vest trimmed in a dark shade of hunter green. I wore that directly over a lighter grey-colored long-sleeve dress shirt which helped to pull everything together nicely. This was supposed to be one of the biggest days in my entire life, and an even bigger night awaited me here shortly. As for me and my company The Nexis, we were about to take on a whole new venture as I had previously concluded with some very important business meetings earlier in the day. Now I was preparing for an even bigger night where all the high-class business people were going to enjoy the spoils that came with the proper channels. I turned my gaze in the mirror to look toward the door and that is when I saw it. Ramona standing there in the doorway with one hand on the door frame as
