Kate POV

I was still reeling from the shock of the DNA results a couple days later.  I was toying with the idea of going to the Silver Crescent Pack.  Colby was against the idea.

“Why don’t you let this go, Kate?  The results came back negative.  It’s time to put this to rest,” he says with a touch of frustration.  “I can’t let this go.  There is a reason someone doesn’t want us to find out the truth and I need to understand why,” I reply.

Colby and I had been on opposite sides of the fence on this topic.  The Golden Moon Pack had seen an increase in rogue attacks recently.  It didn’t sit well with me that there was a sense of weakness in our Pack that enticed rogues to suddenly take an interest in crossing our borders.

I had confidence in Alpha Reid and Beta John, I simply felt I wasn’t doing enough to support them when I am this far away.  As I consider what I want to do, I realize it will mean having to discuss my plans with Colby.  I loved him more than anything else in the world.  I never wanted to disappoint him, but I suspected this might frustrate him a little.

Sighing I move forward to Colby’s office, tapping on the door lightly.  I knew he knew who it was before I had arrived.  We could scent one another easily.  It was part of what made marking and mating so special for me.  Being able to know when your other half was close was special.

Hearing Colby reply, “Come in Kate,” I smiled as I opened the door.  I was a little surprised to find he wasn’t alone.  His administrative assistant, Josey, was hanging over his desk and they were looking at something on his computer.  Her perfume filled his office so I couldn’t easily detect his clean scent.   With a funny look on her face, Josey stands up from where she was and passes me, “Excuse me, Alpha,” she says walking out and closing the door behind her.

I watch her leave and then turn back to Colby.  “Did I interrupt something?” I ask curious about her behaviour.  “No, we were just looking over the Pack tour coming up,” Colby says standing to meet me in the middle of his office.  Taking me into his arms for a lingering kiss, I move closer to him, as I feel his hands sliding down my back to my ass cheeks.  Reaching behind me, I slowly end the kiss while taking his hands and bringing them around front to hold in my hands.

Groaning, Colby steps back and drags me to his desk.  He pulls me in his lap, “So what do I owe the pleasure of this visit, mate?” he asks as he runs his finger slowly from knee to the hem of my navy dress.  I found myself wearing dresses occasionally around Colby, where traditionally I favoured my skinny jeans and black leather jacket.   The truth was he appreciated me in whatever I wore, but we definitely had a chance to explore some fun depending on what I was wearing.  And with a five-year-old running around often interrupting us, we stole our moments when we could get them.

As he teased my leg, moving slightly higher under the hem of my dress, I leaned into Colby and just breathed in.  “I think I need to go to the Golden Moon Pack to check on this rogue situation,” I tell him in a rushed breath.  I can feel him tense up a little before he loosens up again.  I know he feels I am overreacting by wanting to go and explore what is going on.  “Kate, do you really think that is necessary?” he asks.  “I wouldn’t be suggesting it, if I didn’t,” I reply.  We are both strong Alphas, both very stubborn.  When we get something in our minds, we really have to communicate with one another to talk through it.  I’m fortunate – Colby is the better communicator of the two of us.  I have spent so much of my time leading, that it is hard to give up the reins, even a little bit.

“Kate, we have the Pack tour coming up.  I want you by my side,” Colby says.  I knew this before I came in.  “Yes, and if I go tomorrow, I can be back in time for the start of the tour,” I reply quickly.  “Tomorrow?!?” Colby asks.  “We are still planning the tour; the topic discussion points.  Kate, I want you to be a part of this as my Luna,” he states.  “I know and I will be.  We can do online meetings daily; Josey can finalize the written notes and I’ll be prepared when I return,” I say coyly hoping to sway his thoughts.

“This is really about the Red Moon Pack and seeing Drake, isn’t it?” Colby asks as his hand stops moving up my leg.  He helps me up from his lap to my disappointment.  “No, it’s about going to see my Pack.  If I have time, I want to stop and see Drake and possibly Maddie at the Red Moon Pack,” I respond.  “I won’t miss the Pack tours with you, Colby; I promise” I add.

Pinching the bridge of his nose, Colby sits back in his chair throwing his hands in the air.  “I suspect you have already made up your mind on this, Kate; what more can I say?” Colby asks sounding defeated.  I don’t want this to be a competition I won.  I want this to be something he gets that I need to do.  “I will only be a flight away; I can be home at a moment’s notice,” I remind him.

“The thing is you can’t be home at a moment’s notice, Kate.  It takes planning.  What about Amelie?  She misses you like crazy every time you or I leave.  I would go with you, but I can’t leave her alone,” Colby says.  Amelie had lost her parents when she was quite young.  Too young to really remember her parents but young enough to know she doesn’t have her birth parents because of rogue attacks.  She has started to really cling to Colby and I in fear of losing us.  We were debating how to handle the Pack tours because of it.

“I will video chat with her every day as often as she needs me to,” I reply.  I was feeling overwhelmed.  I knew I had commitments here, but I also had commitments at home that I felt needed my attention.  Colby and I just stared at one another.  One of us was going to give and I knew who it would be.   Today I was going to win but at what cost.  “You have already made up your mind, Kate.  Promise me you will call Amelie every day and that you will be back for the Pack tour,” Colby says in frustration as he looks back at his computer.

It hurt a little that he didn’t say to call them both but rather to call Amelie. I shouldn’t take it personally, but I hated disappointing him.  Once I could get a handle on what was going on at both the Golden Moon Pack and the Red Moon Pack, I would be able to settle somewhat back into life at the Silver Crescent Pack.

It was still early days, and we were both trying to understand what this relationship would look like.  Loving him was easy; getting to have it all was the challenging part.  Moving back around the desk to where Colby was trying to ignore, I leaned down and kissed his head before I started to step back.

Colby pulled me quickly into his lap, sliding his hand up under the hem of my dress while he kissed me sliding his tongue over mine.  “I could smell your arousal when you walked in her, Kate,” Colby murmurs.  He loved to tease me with that; I couldn’t deny I was always hot for my mate.  Most of our disagreements ended in passionate sex at some point.  I could feel both our frustrations swirling around us, building up an energy that needed to be released.

I could feel Colby’s hard bulge pushing against my hip.  Before I could turn around to straddle him, he stood me up, slid my lace thong down and pushed through my folds.  Gasping with pleasure, I moan Colby’s name as he bends me down a bit further to fully fill my core.  Moving slowly at first, I start to push back against Colby.  He knows I want him to go faster and harder, but he continues to tease me going slower.

I try to take over, but he slows me down with his strong hands on my hips.  Moving slowly, he reaches around to rub my hard nub.  That and his slow movements are torture.  Starting to whimper I beg for more as Colby starts to lose his own patience and moves closer so he can piston inside me at a rapid pace.  Feeling myself start to lose control I move to meet his thrusts.  I feel myself on the edge of release; from the groans coming from Colby, I know he is close as well.  I bend down a little closer to the desk so he can access me deeper.

As he continues to thrust hitting my special spot, I feel myself start to go over the edge as I scream Colby’s name.  I feel Colby join me immediately after my release.  We ride out the final waves of our orgasms coming to rest.  As Colby slides out of me, we are both still catching our breath.

“Thank the Goddess for soundproof rooms,” I say chuckling as I stand up slowly.  My legs are still quivering as I pull my panties up and Colby adjusts himself back into his pants.  Pulling me back around in his arms, Colby squeezes me tightly.  “I’ll miss you Kate, I hate being away from you,” he says softly.  “I won’t be leaving until tomorrow; how about another round tonight?” I say winking at him before I step out of his arms.  “You’re on,” he says chasing me out of the door of his office.

Smiling I notice Josey looking down her snooty nose at me.  I get a sense she doesn’t like me; not that I care.  Regardless, I wish her a good afternoon as I head back to my office.

Kate POV As I step onto the Golden Moon Pack territory, I take a deep breath of fresh air. I love the Silver Crescent Pack, but the Golden Moon Pack will always be my home. That sense of coming home, feeling like there is someplace you belong always captivates me when I step on the territory soil. Nodding to the border patrol as I cross the border, I drive on through our community. I see children stop to wave, some of their parents stopping to bare their neck as a sign of respect. No matter how many times I left, I still had the respect of my Pack whenever I returned and for that I was eternally grateful. I wished Colby could have come with me. I knew it was too much to expect both of us could just up and leave every time we wanted to.

Alpha Samuel I sigh as Kate raises the point that Maddie may be a twin to this Louise woman and in turn, Kate’s stepsister. “Kate, we have been over this. The DNA is indicating you are not a match to one another,” I remind her. “I understand that Samuel, but this is the only thing we have as commonalities,” she reminds me. I agree, it is the only thing that is common aside from our alliances with four other Packs. There are six Packs in our alliance, well a seventh, when you add in Jared Montgomery’s Pack – the Black Shadow Pack and newest addition. Jared is Lily’s mate; Lily is Kate’s best friend. “I would suggest we need to reach out to the other Packs to determine if they have seen any rogue activity,” I suggest to Kate. I

Samuel POV Having spoken with every other Pack that I had committed to calling, I learned that nobody had any interactions with rogues over the past couple weeks. This frustrated me and I could only hope Alpha Kate would hear from some of the Packs on her call list that they had encountered rogues over the past couple weeks. I could not wrap my head around the common denominator for the two Packs being the twins. Sighing I decided it was time to go visit my Luna. Jasmine had been sitting with Maddie for a few hours now and I had promised to get her for supper. Closing up my office and locking the door behind me, I see my Beta, Luke, walking in from a training session. “How did things go?” I ask. “Our warriors are ready,” Luke says before continuing, “they will do whatever they can to protect the Pack,” he promises. Nodding I am pleased. Our warriors are among the top in our region, and I am confident they will continu

Kate POV As I pull my SUV into the parking lot of the Red Moon Pack, I can see Alpha Samuel and Luna Jasmine standing at the top of the Pack house stairs. I had only given Alpha Samuel a couple hours’ notice and he was not pleased. I did not want to continue trying to communicate by phone. We had much to discuss, and I wanted to get some plans in action. And I wanted to see Maddie. I felt a connection to her. Maybe it was because we had lost Louise and I still carried some guilt at not fully making the effort with her. She had tried to cause so much harm, but in retrospect she was lost. Who knows what the outcome would have been had I made more of an effort? I can’t change the past, but I can change the future. And I would change it with Maddie. Stepping out of my SUV, I

Jasmine POV “You mean, the rogue who gave Maddie to Alpha Jax and Luna Maria could be dead?” I ask excitedly. “Samuel, do you realize what this means?” I ask Samuel. He shakes his head; not clear the direction I am heading. “This Louise could be the other twin your parents mentioned; the threat against Maddie could be dead,” she says with enthusiasm. Samuel cringes as I realize he hadn’t mentioned the other twin. I look at him regretfully, but he squeezed my hand assuring me it was fine. “Other twin?” Drake asks coldly. Yep, they caught that piece of information, of course. Samuel interjects, “My parents had learned there was a second baby; they wanted to take both of the girls, but the rogue wouldn’t have it. He said she was already placed with another family and if my parents didn

Recognizing now, she nods her understanding. “How are you here?” she asks. “Well, that gets a little complicated,” I say. “I am not sure we need to get into that right now,” I say as I see her disappointment. “Why do I feel tingling when you touch me?” she asks. “Now that I can answer,” I say with a smile. “Do you know anything about mates, Maddie?” I ask. I love how her name rolls off my tongue. “I know Samuel and Jasmine are mates; my parents are mates,” she replies. “Yes, that

Kate POV I was training this morning with Alpha Reid and Beta John. I had always trained with them before I left the Golden Moon Pack and I liked jumping back into it when I was home. They never went easy on me and pushed me beyond my limits. And I pushed them beyond theirs. Often, they would spar with me with two of them fighting me at the same time. And on days when I really needed to be challenged, we brought in our top warrior as well. The reality was when we were being attacked, it would not be uncommon to stumble across the odd rogue on our territory and we all needed to be able to protect ourselves as best we could until help arrived. Rogues didn’t fight with any sort of ethics; if there was a gang of them, you can assume the gang would attack at the same time.

Maddie POV Finally, I was getting out of the hospital. It had been a long couple of days. Drake had returned to his Pack for a day to work on some business. I missed him but understood he had neglected his duties while he was with me. He was returning today and then we were going to have a talk with my family. I was feeling anxious as nobody had wanted to discuss whatever this mystery was before now. I had changed into clothes that Jasmine had brought me. She brought me two outfits – one was a summer dress and the other was my skinny jeans and t-shirt. I decided on my summer dress as this would be the first time I would be seeing Drake as a regular person versus since I have been in the hospital up to this point. &n

Kate POV We got the call two days later that Lily was in labour. Colby had been trying to convince me not to go. Lily would understand that he wanted me close to the Pack house and doctor. We both were anxious after our last loss, but we had to recognize that was a situation that happened to us. Not something that meant there was something wrong with the pup or me in terms of carrying our pups. Amelie was over the moon when she found out we were expecting. To find out we were having two pups was a surprise but a great one at that. Amelie asked repeatedly if she could name them. Considering the last stuffed animal she received, she named gremlin, we are trying to gently tell her no. But it made us chuckle last night as we considered the names she would come up with. We haven’t started thinking about names yet. We don’t know if it’s two boys, two girls or one of each. And we haven’t decided if we want to know what they are before they are born.

Kate POV It had been a couple months since everything had happened. From the DNA test results, to Caleb’s son being the mastermind behind all that had happened. Maddie and I had a chance to grow closer over the past couple months. Beta Ralph had been disappointed he had not ended up being Maddie’s father. Unlike my father who had begrudgingly made an effort to speak with her a couple times. Maddie was not interested in him as a father figure and that suited my father as well. Although he was a little surprised, she was so independent. I was proud of her. She has continued with her therapy and had healed physically from her injuries. Alpha Samuel has been able to shift. He still struggles with his leg but the chance to shift has really helped with his outlook on life. And from what I understand it helped Jasmine and his relationship. Samuel did banish his father when they returned to their Pack; however, another Pack accepted his mother and father

Maddie POV Grabbing Drake’s arm, “There has to be another way,” I murmur to Drake suddenly terrified of the ramifications if he does not win. Not that I would be the property of this rogue, but that I would lose my mate. I cannot live without Drake. We just started our lives together. And what the hell was the purpose? “What the hell is the point of all this?” I say to the man standing in front of us smirking. “The point is, Maddie dearest, that I get the final revenge on a group of wolves who have done nothing but look down on my family,” he says coldly. “Who are you?” Kate asks taking a step closer. Colby grabs her arm, holding her where she was. Turning to look at Kate, he takes a step forward. Everyone tensed up as he continued to stare at Kate. “You don’t recognize me, Alpha Kate?” he says smugly. “You look familiar, but it cannot be,” she says. “Why can’t it be? Troy looks at him condescendingly, “You stupid, old man. Who in their right mind tries to interfere with a mated couple? I will say you provided the avenue for us into your life and in turn Maddie’s life,” he says. “You aren’t in Maddie’s life; I don’t know who the hell you are, nor do I care, but you won’t be leaving here,” Drake says. I can tell he is mind-linking his warriors to come remove Troy. I want more answers before that happens. “Who do you work for?” I ask Troy. He laughs, “I work for a powerful man. Maddie POV It had been an amazing vacation with Drake. I cannot wait to go again. I loved all his surprises and most importantly our time together. I had heard from Kate. She and Colby were arriving shortly for a quick visit. They were stopping to see her parents first at the Golden Moon Pack, Kate had some paperwork to sign for Alpha Reid and then would be coming over here. She had some information on who she believes is the man who Dr. Langille referred to, but she did not want to discuss it on the phone. Drake had just received a mind-link that our guests were here. I was surprised it was so quick as we had just spoke with Kate that she was on her way, and we were about an hour from the Golden Moon Pack. Drake and I went out to the entrance to await their arrival. We saw a lone car coming up the street, which was odd. Kate and Colby always travelled with additional warriors given the size of Colby’s Pack and the link to the Golden Moon Pack.

Kate POV Getting Amelie ready for bed had been a chore. She had found out we were at her school visiting her teacher and wanted to know why. Obviously, we did not tell her the reason. We simply told her it was a check-in to see how Amelie was doing and that we found out her teacher was moving to a new Pack. Yes, on the drive home Colby had made the decision to relocate Ms. Cooper. He would not make her rogue, but he would find a Pack within his network that would be better suited for her. And no, she would not be teaching school children. He had already arranged to meet with Ms. Cooper first thing tomorrow morning to advise her of the change. This satisfied Amelie and we spent an hour reading before she fell asleep. I sat there just holding her while she had drifted off to sleep. I could not wait to give her a younger sibling. I knew we weren’t her birth parents, but she felt like my own and I would always treat her like she was mine regardless of ho

Maddie POV We had arrived at the beach late yesterday. We got here in time to watch an amazing sunset. I could see why the beach was so captivating for Drake. The smell of the ocean breeze was incredible, and I was amazed that it was what he smelled when he first scented me as his mate. I sat between Drake’s legs, his arms wrapped around my waist as we just sat and listened to the waves as they rolled up the shore. Drake had rented us a cottage that was secluded from other vacationers. He had been here years before and wanted to show me. He also teased me that he had lots of activities planned that required privacy. I didn’t care. This was the most amazing surprise I have experienced. I was willing to try everything he wanted to do. No matter how much it pushed me out of my comfort zone. My mate was amazing. He had been incredibly supportive while I continued to heal. I could not have asked for more from him. We walked up the beach a

Samuel POV “You may never shift again,” the specialist had told me months ago. I had been hearing this phrase over and over on a permanent loop in my mind. I could not focus on anything else. I could not imagine how effective I could be as an Alpha for my Pack without the ability to shift. I was so angry at everyone and taking most of my anger and frustration out on Jasmine. My heart sank as I knew I had treated my mate horribly yet again. I was getting to a point where I could no longer apologize for my behaviour, and I could not stand myself. I had my appointment today with my specialist. I was going to find out if the exercises and all the extra work had paid off or if I was destined to be an Alpha with a wolf who could not shift. Or if I would get the chance to try, once again, to shift. I did not know if Jasmine would come with me to today’s appointment. I had been particularly nasty this morning and I knew through our bond she was still very hu

Maddie I could not believe it. Kate and I were finally confirmed as being siblings. When we had told Alpha Jackson and Beta Ralph the results, I felt a little sorry for Beta Ralph. I think a part of him had hoped I would be his daughter. It was clear that the previous DNA results had been tampered with and we had no reason to doubt these results. Kate was still searching for the identity of who the “he” was who tampered with the previous results. She was concerned he could still be a threat. She was also going after Dr. Langille for misconduct. I was sorry that I had not known my birth siblings better. Or experienced them in a better light. Had we had the opportunity to grow up together, things would have been so much different and hopefully better. But at least I have one sibling I can get to know and grow older with. Drake was still working with the rogues. The Pack he had thought might take them had refused most of the members. Th
