~Dawn
"You don't have to do this," I reason through his fingertips, my stomach turning at the feeling of the young male's lips against my neck.
He ignored me, his free hand roaming wildly across my body, which he had pinned against the wall. I'm done for. As he tightened the grip of his hand around my mouth, it dawned on me that there is no escape out of this. I am at his mercy, and that feeling may possibly be the worst I have ever felt.
That was until a hand came from the darkness behind him, and tapped his shoulder.
Already being on edge from what he was doing, the boy jumped away from me. I remained against the wall, wondering what was happening. Someone has saved me. Someone is wrestling him to the ground.
~DawnA few more weeks passed. It got to the point where Lucy was going into the Pack, because it was too dangerous for me. Rylan has guards posted where we usually go in, and the amount of Elite's scouring the forest has almost tripled.I hate him for it. He knows it too, since I told him."You're getting paler by the day," Lucy told me one afternoon. She stands over me, the golden sun glistening in her dark hair.I'm aware of how hopeless I look, how sickly and disgusting. Lucy looks tired, but other than that, she is still my stunningly beautiful sister. Even if she looks a little ruffled a pink cheeked, as if she had been running. She has been pursued numerous times, especially lately, however, she is too quick for them. Perks of b
~DawnFor the first time in a long time, I was stunned speechless.Kaden and Kace left as swiftly as they had come, leaving Lucy and I confused beyond belief. His words of warning took a few moments to fully develop in my mind, as I sink down to sit on the log. He wants me dead. Either that, or he wants me locked away forever in his Pack filled with sickening murderers.Real murderers."I don't think we have a choice," I hear Lucy say from behind me. I hate that I had trusted Kace. It had been a detailed game for Kaden since that night two weeks ago. What has he been doing since? Hanging around the Purity Pack watching me, or terrorizing the innocent members of this Pack."We aren't going," I growl, knowing what my sister wants. It wouldn't be giving Rylan the satisfaction, he doesn't care
~DawnI shudder at the sight of the closed door. It's a symbol of finality. If I tried to get Lucy to stop cutting the circulation off in my hand, I would have to pry her fingers off with some vicious tool. She hates the idea of being trapped as much as I do, and not knowing what is in our futures is yet another daunting thought.Rylan regards us silently, waiting for the right moment to bring up the questions he is so desperately wanting to berate us with. He knows he is walking on eggshells."You don't have to explain," Rylan says smoothly. I can tell that's his way of making me feel comfortable, yet I can still see in his eyes that he is fighting curiosity. I don't blame him. I'm sure the last thing he would expect from me is to show up at his door after this entire pursuit thing we have had going.
~DawnThat night, I dreamt of when Rylan and I first met."It's our only choice," I hear her murmur lowly. I keep my head behind the wall, trying my best not to be tempted to look around the corner. My father sighs. "She won't like it. They won't like it."My nails dig into the wall. I know what they are talking about. It's only been a week since we first arrived in the Purity Pack, and they are already talking about shipping Lucy and I off to some boarding school at the end of the Pack. It makes me ill just thinking of being locked up in school to pray to a Goddess I don't believe in."It doesn't matter what they like or not," mother says insistently. "They come from the Desire Pack. They need to be raised proper from now on. They need to be put in their place. My teeth grind against each other as I continue to clench my jaw. It's
~Dawn"Let's make a deal," I say firmly, planting my hands on the table in front of him.Rylan looks up at me in surprise, clearly not expecting me to come down here at this time of night. The last time I saw him, we had been sitting on the bed talking about how he may not be a very good Alpha. Moments later, I must have fallen into slumber, since I can't remember a thing after that. Well, aside from the dream. His silvery blue eyes glint in the lamp light. "A deal?""Yes," I breathe. "A deal."His mouth twists slightly as he mulls over my words, then he motions over to the seat in front of him, careful not to spill the dark liquid in his glass. I take a moment before I back up, sinking into the seat without taking my eyes off his."You should be in bed," he says, raising a dark eyebrow. I shrug carelessly, trying to act as if crawling out of bed at midnight
~Dawn"I'm fine, Dawny. I understand why you want to do this."I gaze down at my young sister, all dressed up and looking pretty. She suits this lifestyle, I have decided, and I'm going to make sure she finds someone who will take care of her and let her do as she pleases. Her mate, or not."Rylan even came to see me," she adds, hoping off her bed to wander of to her vanity. It's strange how this all belongs to her now. "He said I can go anywhere on his property. Inside, even the gardens.""It doesn't bother you that you can't go outside anymore? Into the forest, I mean?"Lucy shakes her head at me, picking the hairbrush up to run it through her hair. Had she been lying to me when she told me she loved the freedom over a conventional lifestyle? Her beauty at least will help her fit in here. Those doe eyes and that button nose. She is only young, but I can already see her being so
~DawnI find myself chuckling after the words came out of his mouth. He wants me to make Rylan sin."Rylan murdered people," I tell Fate, although he doesn't look convinced. "I heard it myself. Everyone in this Pack is terrified of him.""He never killed those people with his own hands, Dawn," he said tenderly, as if it would rip me open to hear him say that. In actual fact, I found myself beyond confused. I know what I heard, and it was terror. "He's an Alpha. He gets people to do his dirty work for him."Of course. "Maybe he indirectly caused the murder, but he still did. It was his idea. I don't know about this strange guy you speak of, but that sounds a lot like one of the biggest sins in the book."Fate shakes his head in the way that makes you feel as if you said something beyond stupid."That isn't what Sinful wants," Fate tells me
~DawnDays past by quickly. Most of which, I was spending in my room, trying to hide away from the mortification Rylan out me through when he shut down all chance for Fate's idea to work out. I'm happy only seeing him at mealtimes. However, staying in my room is starting to have an unwanted effect on me. And by unwanted, I mean I'm tearing my hair out in irritation. Being locked up anywhere is not fun.For Lucy, though, it is.Fate did a real number on her. He's managed to convince her that being inside is not only safe, but desirable. Sometimes I'm tempted to slap her across the face to shock some sense into her. It almost seems as though she wears a smile across her face to taunt me.As long as she is happy, I remind myself everyday.
