Death.

The stench of it lingered, suffocating the air around me. It wasn't just the rusty tang of blood; it was something sweeter, heavier, that clung to the back of my throat. I inhaled deeply, my pulse quickening with the scent. My claws dug into the damp soil, the grit grinding against my paw pads. Beneath me, something warm and soft shifted-flesh. My sharp nails caught, tearing. A shudder rippled through me, part ecstasy, part horror.

Something was wrong. The cold wind kissed my fur in the wrong direction, carrying unfamiliar scents. My body moved on instinct, limbs obeying a command I hadn't given. I felt trapped inside my own skin, an unwilling passenger.

The sharp bark of my brother's voice cut through the haze.

"Nyra, no!"

I snapped my head toward him. Brian stood there, his face pale and taut, his golden eyes wide with a mixture of fury and fear. My breath hitched. Why was he here?

Before I could process it, Ceylan's smaller form barreled into me, shoving me back with

surprising force.

"Protect the alpha!" he yelled, his voice sharp with urgency.

Time froze as I staggered, my claws skidding against the earth. I blinked, trying to focus, but the world seemed smea every sound muffled except the pounding of my own heart. Then I saw him.

Time froze as I staggered, my claws skidding against the earth. I blinked, trying to focus, but the world seemed smeared, every sound muffled except the pounding of my own heart. Then I saw him.

My father.

He lay crumpled on the ground, his once-powerful frame lifeless. The pack doctor hovered over him, their hands slick with blood as they worked frantically to save him. But his chest didn't rise. His scent was fading. My stomach turned.

"How could you do this to Father?" Ceylan's voice cracked, his arms trembling as he cradled our father's body.

I looked down at my hands—or what was left of them. My claws were soaked red, the metallic tang clinging to my fur. I stumbled back, my legs giving out beneath me.

"I-I didn't—" The words caught in my throat.

"You did," Beta Reed said, his voice cold and even. He stepped toward me, his expression a mask of grim resolve. "This time, you went too far. The alpha warned us this would happen, but no one wanted to believe it. Least of all him." His eyes burned into mine, full of unspoken accusations.

I wanted to deny it, to scream that it wasn't true, but my body betrayed me. The blood on my hands told a story I couldn't remember.

"You should have been locked un" Reed continued. "Now the packs will hear of this. They'll see us as weak, vulnerable. And it's your fault."

My legs buckled completely, and I crumpled to the ground. My inner wolf stirred, growling low and protective, but it was no use. Chains-silver, burning against my skin-clamped around my wrists. Reed motioned to the deltas, and they hauled me to my feet.

Brian avoided my gaze as I was dragged past him. His hands were slick with blood-our father's blood-but his face was stone, unreadable. Ceylan's expression was different. His lips curled into a smirk, his sharp eyes glinting with satisfaction. My chest tightened.

"Brian, help me!" | screamed, my voice cracking.

He didn't flinch. Didn't even look at me.

I was shoved into the cold, damp cell, the door slamming shut behind me. The air was stale, laced with the scent of rot and mildew. My chains rattled as I sank to the floor, my strength ebbing away. My body trembled, but not from the cold.

For days, I sat in that cell, the silence punctuated only by the whispers of the guards. Their words sliced into me, sharper than any claw.

"Imagine killing your own father..."

"Trial's tomorrow. Poor thing doesn't stand a chance."

"She's a monster. She deserves it."

I stopped listening. It didn't matter. Nothing mattered. The only thing that kept me tethered to reality was the memory of my father. His laugh, his smile, the way he'd always believed in me, even when I couldn't trust myself.

And now he was gone. Because of me.

+++

Days blurred into each other, and hunger gnawed at my insides like a relentless beast. My throat was dry, my muscles weak. Every inch of my body screamed for relief, but none came. I had lived with pain before-been shunned, caged, starved—but this was different. This time, the weight wasn't just on my body. It crushed my soul.

The guards came occasionally, tossing scraps at me like I was an animal, their disdain as loud as their words. I ate mechanically, hating myself for needing the sustenance, for existing at all.

Then, I heard it-footsteps. Not the careless stomp of guards, but measured, deliberate strides. My ears perked, my heart lurching.

"Brian," I whispered, the name escaping my lips before I even saw him.

He stepped into view, his face pale in the flickering torchlight. For a moment, I thought I saw a flicker of the brother I knew, the one who used to train with me, who used to laugh at my bad jokes. But the softness in his eyes was gone, replaced by a cold, heavy sorrow.

"Brian!" I surged toward the bars, my chains clinking against the floor. "You believe me, don't you? I didn't mean to— I didn't want to-"

"I know," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.

Relief washed over me, but it was short-lived. His gaze hardened as he took another step closer, gripping the bar the cell. "That doesn't change what happened, Nyra. Father’s dead."

The words hit me like a punch to the gut, forcing the air from my lungs. I staggered back, shaking my head. "No. No, he can't be-"

"He is," Brian cut in, his tone sharp enough to sting. "And now, the pack is in chaos. They're scared. Angry. They want someone to blame."

I stared at him, my heart racing. "And you're letting them blame me?"

"What choice do I have?" His voice cracked, and for the first time, I saw the cracks in his armor. "You killed him, Nyra. Whether you meant to or not, it's done.

You've left me to pick up the pieces."

"But I'm your sister," I said, my voice trembling. "You know I'd never-"

"Stop!" he barked, his hands tightening on the bars. "Do you think I want this?

Do you think I wanted to lose him? To lose you?" He exhaled sharply, his shoulders sagging. "You don't understand the weight of this. The pack needs a leader now. And they need someone to answer for what's happened."

My chest tightened. "So you're just going to let them execute me?"

He flinched, his jaw clenching. "You'll have a trial. But you know how it'll end."

I stumbled back, gripping the chains for support. "You're a coward," I spat, my voice shaking with rage and despair. "You've always been a coward, Brian.

Hiding behind Father, behind your principles. You're nothing without him." His eyes flashed with anger, but before I could respond, another voice cut through the silence.

"Sister," Ceylan drawled, stepping into the dim light with a smirk that made my blood boil. His golden eyes gleamed with something dark, something cruel. "I see you're still barking."

"Get out," I snarled, my claws itching to lash out despite the silver sapping my

strength.

He chuckled, leaning casually against the bars. "Now, now. Is that any way to treat your future alpha?"

The air left my lungs in a rush. "You?" I hissed. "You think you deserve the throne?"

"Oh, I don't think, dear sister. I know." He tilted his head, his smile widening.

"Father may have been willing to protect you, but look where that got him. The pack needs strength, and you... Well, you've proven time and again that you're nothing but a liability."

I lunged toward him, but the chains pulled me back, the silver biting into my wrists. "You manipulative little snake!" I growled. "You've been waiting for this, haven't you? Waiting for a chance to take power."

His smirk deepened. "You make it sound so sinister. I'm simply stepping up where others have failed. Isn't that what Father would've wanted?"

"You don't care about the back." I soar. "You only care about yourself."

"You don't care about the pack," I spat. "You only care about yourself."

"And you?" He leaned closer, his voice dropping to a whisper. "What do you care about, Nyra? The pack? Father? Or just your own survival?"

I bared my teeth, trembling with rage. "Get out of my sight before I tear that smug face off your skull."

He laughed, straightening and brushing imaginary dust from his shoulders.

"Good luck with that. Enjoy your trial, sister. I'll be sure to give a heartfelt speech at your execution."

As he walked away, his laughter echoing down the stone corridor, I sank to the floor. My body shook with fury, but beneath it was something darker, something colder.

Ceylan had been waiting for this moment. He'd orchestrated it, somehow. I didn't know how, but I would find out.

I clenched my fists, ignoring the silver's sting. If this was the end, I wouldn't go down quietly. If I had to burn everything to the ground to take him with me, I would.

This wasn't over.

Being starved to death was fine, but being enslaved was not for me. I would rather get my hands chopped than be tied to the pole of the main grounds in the packhouse as every pack member does what they want with me. This has been Silverfang’s way of dealing with the prisoners. A punishment before even being served justice in a trial. They had just finished removing one of my nails, some even grabbed my hair so much that I am not surprised I might have gone bald. The trial would be in two hours, and what am I doing?I am here still being punished by my fellow pack members. The members who promised loyalty to my father and had made an oath to never even touch a single strand of my hair. But they did. Judging from their ecstatic expression as they punished me, I know they must have waited their whole life to do this to me. The trials carry unfair rules that I have to fight for my life while beaten up. They would make the prisoner compete with one of their representative, the stronges

He said some of his secrets, but I forgot it!I sucked in my breath, standing up and preparing myself for the attack while still rummaging through my memory. However, just before the Wendigo was fully released, Brian stepped in and yelled, “Brother, no. We need help from the nearby pack. Let’s marry her off.”Ceylan paused the release of the Wendigo and turned to our brother, “What?”“Once the Rogues come and attack us, we don’t have enough power to even defend ourselves, even lost two of our greatest fighters.” He continued, “The allied packs won’t trust you easily, they need to get something in return…”My eyes darted to Brian, giving him a what the fuck look. If this is his way of saving me from death, then he’s wrong. I’d rather fight the Wendigo than be sold off to another pack!Ceylan thought about it for a moment, and nodded, “Wait, I changed my mind. Return the Wendigo inside. Prepare Nyra as we’ll send her off to one of our allied packs.”“Alpha Fenris of the Dark Claws Pack,

“You look different,” I commented. The more I looked at him, the more I felt something inside me stirring. An excitement. Eagerness. Not certain what I am particularly looking for….but this is the alpha I am going to be partnered with starting tonight. Why did I even utter those words again? It was just a few seconds ago that I was trying to look for the bright side of staying in this pack for now..that I have enough food that won’t keep me starved, and the members won’t harm me because they respect their alpha and since I am the alpha’s partner, they will respect me too…compared to the Silverfang pack members. “Oh, have you already seen me before?” He said, “How different? Explain.”I blinked, trying to recall it again but my memory was blurry. “Yes, when I was younger.” Was I wrong? Did I mistake him for somebody?“You must have remembered wrong. I had always been handsome like this….enchanting even…” He said boastfully, “And I am not surprised you are too engrossed in me to even

I can’t believe that I would be returning to my pack this soon. It wasn’t even a full moon that passed since I was exiled from there. Just when they kicked me out there, and when I finally thought that I could take my time off before I have enough power to fight my brother off, this damn Rogue Creed is taking me back.I still haven’t made any progress. Back to the start. I still find it hard to believe that he is my mate and questions are still ringing my head. Glaring at the dark tall figure of the scoundrel who is currently taking me as his “kidnap victim” to blackmail me to the Silverfang Pack, I follow his tracks against my will as my hands are tied tightly with a rope on my back. His assistant, Brix, was up ahead to check for any incoming enemies. That loyal follower of this scoundrel is not any much better to deal with too. “Hey…” I started, annoying this rogue. I have an overwhelming desire to test up to what limit he could endure. How many more irritating moves I’ll do to

I’ll deal with her in my own way.”He then glanced at me and sighed, “I have a plan. For now, let’s leave.”Ravena pouted, and Brix scoffed.Creed caught on their disappointed expressions, “Anyone dares to complain?” Both of them kept quiet. Nice, so these two are nothing compared to Creed. They knew that they could never say no to him. Which is just to my advantage.I quietly walked behind him and could feel his heavy breathing and body heating from anger, “You’re angry…”He paused and turned to look at me, “Yes because I landed with a useless bitch. No one even wants to be with you.”I smiled at him, not even seriously taking his words at this point, “Why? Do you pity me?”He chose to be quiet and kept walking ahead.“This is why I hate packs. They would easily abandon anyone they find useless.”

I stopped at his words. What?I could smell his filthy scent and his turned-on scent. I instinctively covered my body from him. It was fun teasing them, but I didn’t want it to end up like this. “Oh, are you scared now?”I laughed my nervousness off, trying to act calm in the water. It was a bit hard to cover myself as he was getting close now and almost in front of me. “Suck on it then, if you’re not scared.”He undressed himself to reveal his full hard-on. I grimaced, not imagining that I touched that earlier in order to save his life.“I just saved you, Brix, shouldn’t you thank me? And I thought I was too filthy for you.” I tried hard to stop him…anything I could think of but to no avail, The look on his face was determined to ravish me. And the whole part of me is shaking in fear.“Oh, that’s exactly what I am doing. Thanking you. Enjoy your meal. You can go now.”I was still in shock, expecting him to take me with him as his captive, somehow, that idea was much more interesting to me. “You’re letting me leave?”“I have no use for you anymore.” I knew this was good news, yet his response made me disappointed. “I never wanted those bastards anyway. Since I got what I want, I am good.”“You’re the son of an alpha, you’re breaking your word and-”“Why do you care? Why? We’ve been walking for days now without any direction, or at least with Creed purposely keeping his plan to himself. It’s silent but not the kind where I wish to disappear. It’s the kind of silence where I find it comfortable. My feet were dragging me, yet the two looked unaffected by the heat. Since they are rogues, they probably have been used to this. The mere sun heating us might feel like just a pinch to our skin. The day is getting warmer, but the night is getting colder than ever. “Keep staring and you’ll burn Master Creed’s back.”Ravena teased behind me, breaking the silence. Creed continued walking, and I chuckled at Ravena, not hiding it... “I am still contemplating if it was a good idea to trust Creed for this.” Ravena hummed, “Too late for that. CHAPTER 35 The morning after, Nyra was next to Doctor Creed who was smiling at her. Nyra’s eyes fluttered open and she woke up. While she was in Doctor Creed's toilet, she heard a phone call.“Nyra, baby, someone calls on your phone.” He heard Doctor Creed yelling from outside. She left the toilet and thought it might have been her parent, but the number was unknown. “Nyra, are you?” A man asked on the other line.Nyra suddenly stopped when hearing the familiar voice. Oh so familiar. She did not think she would hear the voice that she had long forgotten. She cannot speak or move. What is he saying? Nyra wanted to cut off the call immediately, but she asked in fear, “Who is this?”“It’s me. Fenris…”It felt like the whole world suddenly fell on her. Fenris. Nyra had tried to bury and forget that name, and when she heard it again, all the pain he caused her seemed to resurface. She thought she moved on. But oh boy. “How did you get my number, Fenris?” Nyra masked her fear and ins

Nyra’s night took a turn as they climbed into Doctor Creed’s room. She did not expect that her words would lead to this. It suddenly rained. Doctor Creed took an umbrella from the car and covered Nyra.“How about you, Doctor Creed? You’ll get wet” Nyra asked worriedly.“I’ll be fine, Nyra. Just go inside."Nyra stood up and went quickly to Doctor Creed’s house door.He looked at Doctor Creed’s wet clothes, “You’ll be sick, Doctor Creed.”“I don’t care. As long as you’re okay.” He answered. When they got into the house, Doctor Creed sent Nyra to the kitchen and drank water. Nyra was still concerned for him.Doc Doctor Creed immediately stood and put their hands on his shirt before he pulled up. Nyra gasped at the sight, swallowing at what she saw. She felt a bit tipsy earlier but she became sober. Nyra could see how drops of water from his sharp jaw toward his chest and down his abs cascaded down.“What are you looking at, Nyra?”His question struck her, “What are you doing? Why ar

“I’ll sue you!” The family of the patient who died yelled. This is the first time Nyra saw that someone complained to Doctor Creed. “Sir, we did our best.” Doctor Creed explained. “No, if you did everything, why my child has already died? Isn’t it because we can’t afford the full payment here at your hospital? If I just knew, we wouldn’t have stayed here! I thought you were the best doctor here!” Nyra quietly looks at the patient's father as he shouts all the painful words. The miracle is Doc Doctor Creed lets the patient’s father. He was calm and it seemed like it wasn’t the first time it experienced. He knows how to fix these situations. After Doc Doctor Creed’s discreet explanation to the patient, he went to the counter to personally pay the remaining balance the family needed to pay for the hospital. “Just let them leave.” Doctor Creed said and left. Nyra didn’t think Doctor Creed was kind of like others. She knows the habits of another doctor. They are just proud, arrogant, and too prideful. But Doctor Creed wasn't that. He may have shouted at her in the past but he had done that for the good of his patient, their workers, and for the whole hospital. It is probably a big responsibility given to Doctor Creed to take care of the hospital. The next day Nyra was surprised to see Doc Smith no longer appeared. His other colleague said he would rather leave because he found a better hospital, and Doctor Creed removed him from work. “Did you see Doc Smith?” Nyra asked Doc Creed to be in the hospital. Doctor Creed remained emotionless as if it hadn’t news to him, “Oh, did he leave? Good. It is good and I don’t need to see his hidden face.” Nyra did not expect the doctor's answer, and he saw that there were two cups of coffee. A coffee held by Doc Doctor Creed was given to Nyra. “Doc? NYRA'S POV Things were going great, and the pack seemed to be getting more stable daily. Creed and I have been going strong he’s become more obsessed with me. We decided to visit the Crimson pack, where Kira is currently staying. I wanted her to see more of my aura and ask what path I should take now. The past heart-to-heart talk with Alpha Kamilah helped me so much and it made me realize all my emotions bottled up inside. “It’s good to see you.” Kira’s face brightened up as soon as she saw me, “I am glad you thought of visiting me.” “I wanted clarification…and some guide too, since you said something about my aura last time.” I started, and she sat me down as we had a cup of tea. Creed disappeared and looked for Lycan King Ace somewhere so we were left alone now. “I see, so you want me to tap inside your soul?” She said. I nodded. She stretched her hands, starting to get to work, and gently placed mine on the pillow. She closed her eyes and she hummed for a few seconds, frown

We decided to stay and help build the ruined packhouse back to its place. It was only three of us, and it took us a week to work with it. We also added a better barrier around the territory that would help us be on alert if any rogues are within the area. The elders of the realm had noticed this movement so they kept on sending one of their men and invited Creed to pay respect to them. Creed, hating the elders ever since, would only send back the men with bruised eyes. I wanted him to stop this and convince him to just do as they say but he wouldn’t listen. The elders were getting anxious now that the “Ravager” that they had always wanted to catch him. I admit that being the past “Ravager” had its disadvantages as he had no alpha friends. He had no alliances that he could ask for help when he was in need. But thank goodness for that reputation too that no other pack would dare to cross our territory, fearing for their life. “They’ll only use me as their weapon in their plays.” Tha
