Lyla's POV

My eyes fluttered open slowly and I hissed out in pain after my head bumped against the car window. "Ouch." I rubbed the spot gently, scrunching my face in pain. My heart skipped a beat when I saw a pair of blue eyes staring intensely at me. I looked around the car as if trying to understand what was happening. We were driving through a lonely path I guess must be leading to his pack.

How long have I been unconscious? My brows knitted into a frown as I stared around the limousine. "Who are you?" His brows raised in surprise before he shook it off quickly, keeping on a cold, plain look.

I scoffed, glancing at the window before turning back to him. "I'm talking to you."

"Nerves." He muttered under his breath, slightly shaking his head.

"Who are you?" I repeated with a clear hint of persistence in my voice.

"Reid Grayson, Alpha of the Darkwood pack and your owner," He looked like he still had something else to say but decided against it.

As much as I didn't like him calling himself my owner, I had no say here. Besides whatever happens now is of less concern to me, I'm just focused on escaping. "I need to pee," I said after a few minutes of silence, staring out the window into the lonely pathway and the woods around us, an idea forming in my head.

"We'd get to the pack in a few minutes, have some patience."

"Hmm?" I raised my brows at him, my lips stretching into a mischievous smirk. "Then I think you have no problem if I pee in your car huh?" The man sitting beside him who I could guess was his beta snapped his head toward me in pure shock.

"We'd get to the pack in a few minutes, have some patience." This time around his voice came out cold than before, trying to give off that mean alpha look. I huffed and turned away, keeping my eyes on the window.

The drive to pack went in total silence and we arrived in a few minutes just like he said. It didn't pass my notice to realize that it was really weird sitting in the same car as him. As far as I can remember, slaves do not sit in the same car with their masters. They're mostly hauled up in the trunk of a van. So why would he? Not like I'm complaining though, but it's a weird start.

A smirk stretched on my lips when I sighted the number of guards waiting in front of the pack house, obviously for their alpha. The look of confusion was evident on their faces when they sighted me step down from the car. They sure weren't expecting me this way, in the same limousine as their alpha not dragged out of the van, looking all sweaty, messy, and shivering in fear as a slave should.

I crossed my arms behind me, walking beside Reid towards the huge brown door that led into the building. I resisted the urge to wink at one of the guards knowing it could be misunderstood for something else, especially with the kind of clothing I had on. But one thing for sure was that I was going to make sure in a few days my name would be the only thing trending on the lips of the people, for trouble though. So that Reid would have no choice but to let me go.

We stepped into the living room and I stared around in amusement, awed by its appearance. It was like something I had never seen before, well considering the fact I had lived almost all my life in the basement of our house that was dominated by rats and mosquitoes, that place was one of the reasons my urge to escape kept rising. It was a room of nightmares and I cringed each time I remember how dark and creepy it was. I pushed the ugly memories out of my mind, not ready to be overwhelmed by sad emotions and ruin my day.

“Come with me.” I stared around the luxurious living room one last time before walking up the staircase with Reid. We walked to the second floor and he led me down a hallway to the last room. I found it a little weird he was taking me to my room himself, isn’t that the work of the maids? Well, I guess there are a lot of things weird about him, he was a complete contrast to the other rich alphas that would keep a scowl on their faces and would never even want to be close to you, like they forgot they bought you with their money. He was acting kind and nice, I guess I was quite lucky then, just like the girls had said. I just hope they find a better owner and if not, they better learn not to be so feeble.

“Here’s your room,” I could not stop the frown that morphed on my face as soon as I stepped one foot into the room. My face scrunched in disgust as I took in the appearance of the room, it was quite dark and the entire furniture looked like they’d been here for over a thousand years. The carpets were also old and some parts are torn already, in fact, the whole room looked haunted and a complete contrast to what the entire house looked like. I can’t believe I was actually thinking he was nice, never realizing it was just a façade and he already had it in mind to treat me like a slave. My eyes went to the wardrobe when the door creaked and went open, making quite a scary sound.

…No way, there’s no way I’ll be staying here, not even for a night. “What is this?” I asked, making sure the disgust on my face was clear for him to see.

“Your room,” He responded with a plain look like there was really nothing wrong with this.

I scoffed, turning around to face. “You must be kidding me, you really think I’m going to accept this?! Just take a look at this, the whole place is messed up and there is no way I’ll be spending a night here, never!”

“Don’t forget who you are, you don’t have a choice here.”

That was it, anger flowed through my veins and I clenched my fist tight, trying hard to control myself. “Well, I do. And you have to do as I say if you want me here.” I folded my arms, raising my brows at him. “You want me here? Then I guess you have some renovations to do right here, Mr. Alpha.”
