Levi’s POV“Oh?” I ask Lucern, a knowing grin spreading across my face. Of course the Vampire wouldn’t like the idea of Jamari leaving his Realm, it is what Kenji and I were counting on to get his ass in gear. Lucern freezes in his spot, as if realizing what he just said. Count Adrian looks between Lucern and I before shaking his head and making his way out of the door. “I will catch the two of you later. I have been away from my bed long enough tonight.” He pauses at the door before adding, “I will meet with you again in the morning Lucern.”Lucern turns his attention to his advisor, nodding his head in agreement before turning his attention back to me. “Does Jamari want to leave?” He finally asks after some time has passed. The thought of lying to the man crosses my mind, but I decide to tell him the truth. “Jamari is not happy about leaving and is doing everything she can to prevent us from taking her away from…” I let my sentence die, allowing Lucern to fill in the blank. A loo
Levi’s POV“You look just fine dear.” My mother tells him, surprising me. Up until two months ago, my mother was the bad guy and had ruined my father’s life. Even after all of this time it is still hard to not picture the evil woman I always thought she was. “You two aren’t…” I grimace at the thought of my parents getting back together. “Heavens no.” My mother says, laughing at my discomfort. “Your mother and I are not interested in trying for a real relationship.” My father adds, as he picks himself up off of the basement floor and walks towards Remiel’s cell. “We were never meant for each other.”“Besides,” A twinkle appears in my mother’s eye, catching me off guard. Has my mother ever looked so happy? “A certain Fate has been coming around quite often since your father’s release from his prison.” She continues, a teasing note to her voice. “Definitely could have done without that picture in my head.” I tell them, a shiver of disgust moving through me. “Sex is perfectly natural
Kenji's POV“If Levi doesn’t show up in time then we don’t have to go see Morgana, right?” The hopeful look on Jamari’s face causes a chuckle to move up through my chest as I shake my head in the negative. “We are going to see Morgana whether Levi arrives in time or not.” I tell her, crossing my arms over my chest to shut down any argument she might come up with. A wicked gleam appears in her eyes as she eyes me up and down. Uneasiness moves through me when she begins to move closer to where I stand near the door to our rooms. Ren perks up in anticipation as our mate makes her way closer to us, remembering the last time she tried to talk us out of going to our appointment.A groan leaves my lips as I watch her hips sashay closer to me, a come hither look on her gorgeous face. Before she is able to reach me and shred the remaining shreds of control I have, the smell of fire and brimstone fills the room, dousing us in water. A sigh of relief leaves my lips, while Jamari stops midstep
Lucern’s POV“I will be away from the Vampire Realm for a couple of days Morgana, maybe longer, I am not sure as of yet.” Disappointment crosses Morgana’s face at the thought of my absence. “Is it because of the wolf?” She asks, speaking up about the tension between Jamari and I for the first time in these past two months. My legs shift in place as guilt consumes me once more. “It is not because of Jamari.” I tell her. At least not totally about Jamari, I add in my head. “Count Adrian and I have some important matters to look into that could take some time to wrap up.” Those important matters pertaining to the Wild Hunt and the Dark Hunt soldiers. If the soldiers are on the move eighty years early for their Wild Hunt, then something big must be close to happening, and I have a feeling that that something big has something to do with Jamari. The time is just too coincidental for my liking, and thankfully Adrian agrees with me and has offered to help me look into the matter. I might
Kenji’s POVI took no satisfaction in the way mine and Levi’s words affected Lucern, despite the smug look I placed on my face. The purpose of our words are only to give Lucern a nudge to accept Jamari despite his reservations. Unfortunately, the damned Vampire is more stubborn than Levi! Something I didn’t think was possible. Ren grumbles in agreement at that thought. Removing Jamari from the Vampire Realm and the constant reminder of Lucern’s many rejections is what is best for her, even if she doesn’t think so at this time. Lucern is in love with Jamari just like the rest of us, it is written on his face everytime that we catch him alone with Jamari. Being away from her will be torture to his soul and something he won’t be able to ignore for long without risking going mad. I should know from experience. Being apart from Jamari for those two years turned me into a crueler version of myself that I still have trouble accepting. If it wasn’t for Beta Yuriko keeping me in line throug
Levi’s POVThis is definitely going to be an interesting visit. Lucern hasn’t let the Moirae step foot in the Vampire Realm in over three hundred years. Not since they encouraged his younger brother to attempt to overthrow him, which resulted in his brother losing his life. Lucern has had strong feelings of dislike towards the three Fates ever since. And the fact that they are here to visit with Jamari only means that they are here to stir up more trouble again. Probably in an attempt to keep us from taking Jamari away from the Vampire Realm and away from Lucern.I run my fingers through my hair as I prepare for whatever mischief these ladies are about to unleash on us and also for the showdown between them and Lucern. Jamari sits up between us, her curious eyes moving between the Fates and Lucern. ‘Should we be worried?’ Kenji’s concerned voice flits through my head. ‘The last time we tried to keep Jamari away from one of her mates they sent you away which resulted in Jamari being
Eve’s POV“There has got to be something in this old book of spells that can help free Remiel from his current state.” I push the book aside, letting out a tired sigh. My fingers move up to rub down my face as I fight the hopelessness battling to take over. Lucifer and I can’t keep Remiel under control for much longer, we have to find something to help alleviate his mental state. Levi’s sleep spell won’t be able to keep him under indefinitely and if we don’t have something to combat my spell by the time he wakes up then my spell will hit him in full force, sending him into a frenzy. I have used this spell on countless others over the centuries, and no one has ever reacted in this manner before. Something is causing Remiel’s mind to break down under the weight of the voices filling his head. If only we could find a way to mute the voices, then we have a greater chance of keeping him under control. If I ever want my son to forgive me for the wrongs that I have done and trust me to be
Lucern’s POVIn the blink of an eye both Jamari and Morgana disappear from the room, causing my heart to stop beating in my chest as despair threatens to take over me. The sound of Kenji’s roar snaps me out of the weight of loss pulling me down, springing me into action. I grab ahold of one of Kenji’s arms, as Levi grabs the other, preventing him from attacking the Fates.Fur begins to sprout on his arms beneath my hold, the sound of his bones breaking and rearranging filling the small room as he gets harder to hold in place with each passing second. While I am all for killing the Fates for what they have just done, I am not foolish enough to believe that I would stand a chance. And neither does Kenji. Which would normally not be my problem, but if Jamari returned to find her Lycan mate killed for attacking the Fates, she would be heartbroken and I couldn’t stand that. “WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?” He roars at the Fates, his teeth snapping as spit flies out of his mouth. “Oh relax.” Clotho
I have decided to end book 2 where it is. Thank you all for your continued support and positive reviews. I will be starting Book 3, the final book in the series, soon and will have it up by next month. I am currently dealing with a family emergency that might make my planned timeline a little longer than I would like so please bear with me as I plan out how to end Jamari's journey. The next book will introduce the last of Jamari's mates and will bring everything that has happened in the last two books to a head as well. I am so grateful to everyone that has stuck by me throughout this journey and I am anxious to see what is in store for Jamari and her mates. All my love, Heidi Monath
Jamari’s POV‘Did this fake bitch just say what I think she said?’ My body moves before I can register what is happening. The feeling of my body flying through the air as I launch myself towards where Sabina lays on the floor staring up at Lucern with lovesick eyes. ‘I will rip her still beating heart from her chest.’Something grabs hold of my waist before wrapping their strong arms around the slender area and pulls me close to a hard body. Howard’s scent invades my senses as my enraged mind refocuses on what is happening in front of me. A hand moves up to clamp over my lips in a warning to be quiet. When Howard drops me back to the hardwood floors, I swirl around on him in anger and glare at him. He gives me a sheepish look before turning his attention back to Sabina and Lucern. Letting out a huff of anger, I turn myself back to the bitch as well, plotting out her slow demise in my head as I watch.Lucern stares at her quietly, disbelief clear on his handsome cocoa features. His bo
Lucern’s POV“No one is here.” A disappointed look appears on Sabina’s face as we make our way into Howard’s hidden office that only a select few people are able to access. As we look around the large room, we find no one in sight, but I can sense my mate’s scent somewhere in this room, so I know she is here. Before I can call for Jamari to let her know that I can sense her in the room, Sabina suddenly throws herself at me. Her body drapes over mine, sending confusion through my body as she grabs hold of me tightly. The scent of blood fills the room, causing my nostrils to flare as I seek out the scent. Shoving Sabina to the side, I look around the room in search of where the scent of blood could be coming from. Sabina whimpers from behind me, drawing my attention to her direction. Blood flows from her stomach, coating her hands as she presses down on the wound that has blood flowing out of it like a river. My senses go on overdrive as I search the room for the unknown threat that
Jamari’s POV“I have brought you here to offer you a warning.” My body stiffens at Howard’s words as a feeling of dread settles in the pit of my stomach. Howard motions for me to take a seat on one of the couches in the sitting area, a serious look taking over his features as he follows me over and takes a seat on a couch that faces the one that I sat on. “I am not the only one on the council that feels that Lucern has made a mistake by taking you as his Queen.” Howard says, an apologetic look pulling at his features. “That was of course before I realized that you would be an asset to the Vampire Realm.” He says, earning a snort from me in response. “I know that does not mean much now, but I do hope you will give me the chance to earn your trust.” A gentle smile appears on Howard’s face as he looks over at me. Even after everything that has been said and done by him recently, I can feel deep in my bones that Howard is telling the truth and that he means me no harm. And if that wasn
Jamari’s POV“Some might call you foolish for letting Howard off so easily, my lady.” Nodding my head in agreement, I walk out of the door without looking around at the disapproving faces of the rest of Lucern’s council members. I had originally come in search of Lucern to see what had gotten him so upset all of a sudden, I was not expecting to walk into a council meeting that was about me. “She is right, my lady.” The sound of Howard’s unexpected voice pulls me out of my thoughts, startling me slightly as I jump in place, my hand moving up to grasp the base of my throat in order to calm my nerves. An apologetic look appears on Howard’s face as he moves off of the wall that he was reclining on. “I did not mean to startle you, my lady.” Howard stops his forward movement a few feet away from me, nervously moving from foot to foot as an internal struggle appears on his face. “What is it?” I ask him curiously. Something is clearly bothering the old Vampire and with the way things ended
Lucern’s POVSilence moves around the room as everyone thinks over Jamari’s question. Removal from the council has never happened before, not in a situation like this at least. There have been times in history where members were not rechosen for the role of council member, but no one has ever been removed mid-term like Jamari is suggesting. Council members, as well as other subjects, have been sentenced to death for less than what Howard has been accused of. Most rulers do not take too kindly to their subjects speaking ill of themselves or their mates. “You do not wish for Howard’s head, my lady?” Sabina asks, an intrigued look on her face. She leans forward in her seat and places her chin on the back of her joined hands. Her brow lifts in interest as she stares over at Jamari and waits for her response.I lean back in my seat and watch as Jamari squirms in her seat, uncomfortable as ever with being the center of attention. Her gaze moves over my council members until her eyes land
Lucern’s POV “Don’t do something you might regret for me, my King.” Jamari’s whispered words echo around in my head as I struggle to regain control over the bloodlust that had slowly taken control over my actions. It is not often that I allow myself to get so enraged that the bloodlust takes over, it was something that I learned to control at an early age. Adrian steps up to stand beside Jamari, amusement glinting in those eyes of his as he looks between the two of us. Whispers begin to fill the quiet space all around us, Jamari’s presence soothing the fear that had my council members as still as a statue only moments before. Jamari lifts up her right hand and places it on the arm that belongs to the hand that is still currently squeezing the life out of Howard. Disgust takes over my face as I retract my claws from his neck but do not release my hold from around his neck. Within seconds the deep gashes around his neck has healed enough to stop the flow of blood from continuing to
Lucern’s POV“Sire, when are we going to unlock the Vampire Realm? Many of our subjects are complaining about the lack of freedom, and the subjects that are trapped on the outside of the Vampire Realm are starting to get antsy.” The circle of my council of advisors nod their head in agreement at Rudolph’s claim. Count Adrian leans back in his seat, his eyes surveying the older men that sit around us in the conference room that is usually used for conducting business. “Would the people rather we come under attack?” Adrian asks, his brow lifting in challenge. The council at least has the decency to look embarrassed that they had forgotten about the threat. “Has the threat not been subdued?” One of the men speaks up, a glint of mischief blatantly clear in his eyes. Howard is the one council member that I would love to get rid of. He never misses an opportunity to cause issues for me within the Realm and I still have not figured out what his problem is with me. I am the rightful heir t
Jamari’s POV“Are you sure that this is a good idea?” Kenji asks the same question that has been asked a hundred times since I told my mates that we need to get into the Fae Realm. “What if us unlocking the Fae Realm is what sets the events that you saw into motion? We can’t be hasty with our decision making.” Kenji’s words make me pause my speed reading of the spell books that Lucern has available in his massive library. A frown scrunches up the corners of my eyes as my brows draw together in thought. My eyes move up to find Kenji’s worried gaze. “I have to be there for him Kenji.” Sorrow fills my words as I am once again reminded of the scene that I watched play out before my eyes. Lifting my head for the first time in an hour, I look around in search of my Demon King whom I have given strict orders not to leave my side until we know for sure that the vision of him dying in that clearly does not come to pass. “Where is Levi?” I ask, sniffing the air to see if I can catch his scent
