Jamari’s POV “We have to return to the Vampire Realm.” I tell my gorgeous mates once everyone has showered and gotten dressed. Levi lets out a whine at my words. “Why can’t we just stay here for a year and escape from the world?’ Levi wiggles his eyebrows, moving to make his way closer to me. Kenji grabs hold of his arm, giving him a disapproving look as he stares down at him. “We have children now Levi.” I remind him softly. The guilt of leaving Rose and James without a word has been eating me up all morning and I am desperate to return to them and make sure that they are okay. So easily I forgot about my responsibilities as a mother. “And I think it is about time that we talk about what happened while you were away.” Kenji says, drawing us all back to reality. *********** “Morgana is your MATE?” Levi jumps from his seat on the couch beside me, his voice rising an octave as he says the word mate. His incredulous eyes look from me to where Morgana sits across the room, a blus
Rieka’s POVMemories of long ago slam into us quickly. The images of a time long forgotten flash through our minds like a movie playing on fastforward, the images moving through too fast for me to latch on to any of them. The blast of memories becomes too hard for Jamari to withstand and I can feel her slowly slipping away from consciousness. As darkness slowly surrounds her, I make my retreat to the dark recesses of her mind to think about the memories in my head. How could I have forgotten about my son and what happened to him over five hundred years ago? It wasn’t that long ago that I got my memories of that time back, but somehow they were buried yet again once we entered the Fae Realm. Five years.I spent five years with my son and my granddaughter and I had no idea of who they truly were. And now...now I have left them once again to live alone in the darkest parts of the Fae forest. What kind of a mother forgets about her child? Twice?Guilt moves through me. I can not believe
Jamari’s POV What is going on out there? My thoughts begin to race almost as fast as my quick beating heart. Are we under attack? Is that why Lucern had to leave me so urgently? My eyes roam around the bedroom once again. Where are my mates? And who’s room is this? Everywhere I turn I find either black or red. The wooden floors are nearly the color of midnight, with some streaks of gold mixed in within the planks. Every piece of furniture is made from the same material, creating a slight glow all around me, made more noticeable in the darkness of the room. The large bed that I woke up in is crafted from the darkest wood I have ever seen. If you look closely enough to the headboard you can find pictures of faces carved into the wood, their haunted faces etched into mid screams. Just then a mouth opens and closes and an eerie moan escapes one of the faces, it’s unseeing eyes staring right at my curious gaze. I jump back from the headboard startled, not expecting for the faces to be
Levi’s POVAnger boils beneath the surface of my skin. My barely controlled swirls around me yet again at the sight of the three Fates standing before me after the mess that they caused the last time they were around Jamari. Lachesis goes to move closer to Jamari but a growl from my lips stops her in her tracks. “Are you three responsible for the current state of my other half?” My demonic aura begins to seep out of me for the second time today, choking those that are weak that are in the room. Not many have experienced the demonic aura that is found within the King of Demons, seeing as I have not had many instances to use it over the years, but after losing my mate for nearly a week and then finding her in this condition…I find my control slowly fading away to nothing. All three Fates stare at me with fear in their eyes, well…empty sockets for the two sisters who are not currently wearing the eyes. Lachesis takes a slow step backwards, putting more space in between her and my wrath
Kenji’s POV“Has anyone seen where these attacks are com-” Blinding lights suddenly flashes before my eyes as intense pain crashes through my body like a freight train. My legs give out beneath me, sending me crashing to my knees with a loud thud, the impact shaking the stone flooring running through the castle hall. “Kenji!” Morgana’s concerned voice reaches my ears at a whisper level. The feel of her small hands grabbing hold of my biceps registers in the dark recesses of my brain. Ren howls in pain, his large clawed fingers grabbing hold of the side of his head before falling to the floor in my mind. More hands grab hold of my body, lifting me off of the stone flooring moments before a rocking motion takes over my body. The movement becomes quicker the longer it sticks around, the back and forth sway of my body causing nausea to bubble up inside of me.Another wave of pain barrels through my system, pulling a wild roar from my lips as my body thrashes to escape the hold of the ma
Remiel’s POV I was just minding my own business, wandering the halls in search of the unknown assasin that has been moving through the castle, when an excruciating pain took over my body, dropping me to my knees in an instant. With Jamari still having my powers inside of her body from months ago, the pain was more intense than anything that I have ever felt before. Without my powers I am slightly above a human when it comes to my tolerance and strength. Within seconds the pain caused me to black out as the darkness swalled me whole. I am not sure how much time passed between me passing out in the hallway and me waking up here in a room I have never seen before. Voices begin to penetrate my muddled brain as my senses slowly start to come back to me. Remnants of the pain I felt before blacking out rushes through my system everytime I try to move a muscle, causing me to give up and just lay my body still against the cool wooden floor. The coolness from the wood helps ease the heat
Lucern’s POV Pain still courses through my body even after my healing properties have had a chance to ease the pain a bit. Being raised as a Vampire, I have experienced my fair share of pain, but nothing has ever compared to the all consuming pain that attacked my body the moment I laid my hand on Jamari. If Levi and I prevented pieces of the spell from absorbing into Clotho, then I can not even imagine the amount of pain that she must have been in before we touched Jamari’s body. The first jolt of pain was like nothing I could ever hope to put into words, not that I would want to. I would just as soon forget about the pain. Thankfully either my body became used to the pain quickly after that, or the pain lessened soon after, but either way, I am thankful that it did. This was definitely not an experience that I would ever like to repeat, but I know I would if it meant keeping that pain away from Jamari. My eyes float to where Jamari lays behind Morgana. “Are you sure she is not f
Levi’s POV “If Lucern had finished the mate bond sooner then all of you would have been stronger and the effects of the spell’s defenses would not have been as severe.” I watch as disapproval flashes across Clotho’s face as she speaks those words out loud. She quickly changes her expression to one of neutrality, but by that point guilt had already appeared on Lucern’s face. While I agree with the Fate that Lucern should have accepted his destiny sooner than he has done, thus it would have made us all stronger, I also realize that causing guilt to consume him when we are under threat will help no one. “Hindsight is always 20/20.” I say in Lucern’s defense, hoping to ease a bit of the guilt that I can feel moving through him. Lucern’s eye flash to mine in surprise, his brow furrowed in concentration. “Dwelling on what should have been will not help with breaking whatever spell that has been placed on our mate.” I tell him, shrugging my shoulders like it was no big deal. “Levi is ri
I have decided to end book 2 where it is. Thank you all for your continued support and positive reviews. I will be starting Book 3, the final book in the series, soon and will have it up by next month. I am currently dealing with a family emergency that might make my planned timeline a little longer than I would like so please bear with me as I plan out how to end Jamari's journey. The next book will introduce the last of Jamari's mates and will bring everything that has happened in the last two books to a head as well. I am so grateful to everyone that has stuck by me throughout this journey and I am anxious to see what is in store for Jamari and her mates. All my love, Heidi Monath
Jamari’s POV‘Did this fake bitch just say what I think she said?’ My body moves before I can register what is happening. The feeling of my body flying through the air as I launch myself towards where Sabina lays on the floor staring up at Lucern with lovesick eyes. ‘I will rip her still beating heart from her chest.’Something grabs hold of my waist before wrapping their strong arms around the slender area and pulls me close to a hard body. Howard’s scent invades my senses as my enraged mind refocuses on what is happening in front of me. A hand moves up to clamp over my lips in a warning to be quiet. When Howard drops me back to the hardwood floors, I swirl around on him in anger and glare at him. He gives me a sheepish look before turning his attention back to Sabina and Lucern. Letting out a huff of anger, I turn myself back to the bitch as well, plotting out her slow demise in my head as I watch.Lucern stares at her quietly, disbelief clear on his handsome cocoa features. His bo
Lucern’s POV“No one is here.” A disappointed look appears on Sabina’s face as we make our way into Howard’s hidden office that only a select few people are able to access. As we look around the large room, we find no one in sight, but I can sense my mate’s scent somewhere in this room, so I know she is here. Before I can call for Jamari to let her know that I can sense her in the room, Sabina suddenly throws herself at me. Her body drapes over mine, sending confusion through my body as she grabs hold of me tightly. The scent of blood fills the room, causing my nostrils to flare as I seek out the scent. Shoving Sabina to the side, I look around the room in search of where the scent of blood could be coming from. Sabina whimpers from behind me, drawing my attention to her direction. Blood flows from her stomach, coating her hands as she presses down on the wound that has blood flowing out of it like a river. My senses go on overdrive as I search the room for the unknown threat that
Jamari’s POV“I have brought you here to offer you a warning.” My body stiffens at Howard’s words as a feeling of dread settles in the pit of my stomach. Howard motions for me to take a seat on one of the couches in the sitting area, a serious look taking over his features as he follows me over and takes a seat on a couch that faces the one that I sat on. “I am not the only one on the council that feels that Lucern has made a mistake by taking you as his Queen.” Howard says, an apologetic look pulling at his features. “That was of course before I realized that you would be an asset to the Vampire Realm.” He says, earning a snort from me in response. “I know that does not mean much now, but I do hope you will give me the chance to earn your trust.” A gentle smile appears on Howard’s face as he looks over at me. Even after everything that has been said and done by him recently, I can feel deep in my bones that Howard is telling the truth and that he means me no harm. And if that wasn
Jamari’s POV“Some might call you foolish for letting Howard off so easily, my lady.” Nodding my head in agreement, I walk out of the door without looking around at the disapproving faces of the rest of Lucern’s council members. I had originally come in search of Lucern to see what had gotten him so upset all of a sudden, I was not expecting to walk into a council meeting that was about me. “She is right, my lady.” The sound of Howard’s unexpected voice pulls me out of my thoughts, startling me slightly as I jump in place, my hand moving up to grasp the base of my throat in order to calm my nerves. An apologetic look appears on Howard’s face as he moves off of the wall that he was reclining on. “I did not mean to startle you, my lady.” Howard stops his forward movement a few feet away from me, nervously moving from foot to foot as an internal struggle appears on his face. “What is it?” I ask him curiously. Something is clearly bothering the old Vampire and with the way things ended
Lucern’s POVSilence moves around the room as everyone thinks over Jamari’s question. Removal from the council has never happened before, not in a situation like this at least. There have been times in history where members were not rechosen for the role of council member, but no one has ever been removed mid-term like Jamari is suggesting. Council members, as well as other subjects, have been sentenced to death for less than what Howard has been accused of. Most rulers do not take too kindly to their subjects speaking ill of themselves or their mates. “You do not wish for Howard’s head, my lady?” Sabina asks, an intrigued look on her face. She leans forward in her seat and places her chin on the back of her joined hands. Her brow lifts in interest as she stares over at Jamari and waits for her response.I lean back in my seat and watch as Jamari squirms in her seat, uncomfortable as ever with being the center of attention. Her gaze moves over my council members until her eyes land
Lucern’s POV “Don’t do something you might regret for me, my King.” Jamari’s whispered words echo around in my head as I struggle to regain control over the bloodlust that had slowly taken control over my actions. It is not often that I allow myself to get so enraged that the bloodlust takes over, it was something that I learned to control at an early age. Adrian steps up to stand beside Jamari, amusement glinting in those eyes of his as he looks between the two of us. Whispers begin to fill the quiet space all around us, Jamari’s presence soothing the fear that had my council members as still as a statue only moments before. Jamari lifts up her right hand and places it on the arm that belongs to the hand that is still currently squeezing the life out of Howard. Disgust takes over my face as I retract my claws from his neck but do not release my hold from around his neck. Within seconds the deep gashes around his neck has healed enough to stop the flow of blood from continuing to
Lucern’s POV“Sire, when are we going to unlock the Vampire Realm? Many of our subjects are complaining about the lack of freedom, and the subjects that are trapped on the outside of the Vampire Realm are starting to get antsy.” The circle of my council of advisors nod their head in agreement at Rudolph’s claim. Count Adrian leans back in his seat, his eyes surveying the older men that sit around us in the conference room that is usually used for conducting business. “Would the people rather we come under attack?” Adrian asks, his brow lifting in challenge. The council at least has the decency to look embarrassed that they had forgotten about the threat. “Has the threat not been subdued?” One of the men speaks up, a glint of mischief blatantly clear in his eyes. Howard is the one council member that I would love to get rid of. He never misses an opportunity to cause issues for me within the Realm and I still have not figured out what his problem is with me. I am the rightful heir t
Jamari’s POV“Are you sure that this is a good idea?” Kenji asks the same question that has been asked a hundred times since I told my mates that we need to get into the Fae Realm. “What if us unlocking the Fae Realm is what sets the events that you saw into motion? We can’t be hasty with our decision making.” Kenji’s words make me pause my speed reading of the spell books that Lucern has available in his massive library. A frown scrunches up the corners of my eyes as my brows draw together in thought. My eyes move up to find Kenji’s worried gaze. “I have to be there for him Kenji.” Sorrow fills my words as I am once again reminded of the scene that I watched play out before my eyes. Lifting my head for the first time in an hour, I look around in search of my Demon King whom I have given strict orders not to leave my side until we know for sure that the vision of him dying in that clearly does not come to pass. “Where is Levi?” I ask, sniffing the air to see if I can catch his scent
