Levii’s POV“You said the witch Morgana was able to decipher half of this book in how much time?” Thoth asks, a look of concentration on his face. His eyes never leave the book of forbidden magic as he continues to flip through pages while waiting for our response. “Jamari and Morgana worked on deciphering the pages in that book for the last two months.” I relay to Thoth, watching as his eyebrows raise in surprise. “Pretty impressive for a mortal.” He says, rubbing his chin as he flips through more pages in the book. He suddenly slams the book shut with a loud thud, causing us to jump in our seats. “I can have this book deciphered in no time at all.” He says smugly. My eyes roll at the cocky look on Thoth’s face. ‘Alwaysss wasss a sssmug God.’ Damballa says in my head, receiving a snort from Kenji beside me. Thoth raises an eyebrow at us, amusement lighting his eyes. “When shall I expect you three to return for the spell?” Thoth asks, feigning nonchalance. I can see the excitement
Jamari’s POV“I have never seen as many creatures as I have since joining us with you lovely ladies.” Adam says, dropping to the forest floor in exhaustion. It has been a week since we ran into Adam by the pond and there have been nonstop attacks of beasts in the forest. Some of them I was able to save, reverting them back to their original forms, but the majority of them had to be put down because they were too hostile. The guilt eats away at me with every beast that I have to slay, but I refuse to put Morgana in a position where she could be in danger again. Next time she could die permanetly and I will not lose her after I have only just found her. My eyes move over to look at my tempting mate currently bending over to give Adam a bottle of water that she magicked from who knows where. It has been a week since we have had any alone time and the only time we get to really hold each other is when we sleep while Adam keeps watch for us. Other than our nightly cuddles, we have only b
Jamari’s POV“There you are love.” My body stiffens at the sound of the man who is clearly the leader coming from behind me. How I could miss the rotting smell that wafts off of him in waves is beyond me, but now that I know he is there, the scent of rot threatens to choke me. Turning around slowly, I find myself face to face with a man that once might have been considered beautiful, but the chunks of rotting skin hanging off of his face has destroyed that. My eyes narrow as I study the man standing before me with his arms crossed over his chest as he roams my body hungrily. “Even with that welp swelling up your belly, you sure are something nice to look at.” He says, his eyes flashing black with desire. A shiver of disgust moves through my body, causing the man to chuckle in delight. “Once we cut that there welp from your womb then you will be mine to do with as I please.” A malicious smile spreads across his face.Horror fills my face at the thought of this man cutting out my chil
Jamari’s POV“Who are you?” I ask him, keeping my eyes trained on his body as he moves further into the room. “I am your master, pretty wolf. Have you forgotten already?” He asks, a smirk forming on his face. The look on his face leads me to believe that he really does think that I have forgotten him already. He must be the one that put the walls up around my memories. But for what purpose? “Once that welp within your belly is born you will be back to serving my needs.” He raises his eyebrows up and down suggestively. “Now-” He claps his hands together, making me jump a little on the floor. “If you are done throwing your tantrum, we can move you back to our living quarters.” ‘He believes that the spell around your memories are still intact.’ Rieka muses, watching the scene play out from the back corners of my mind. ‘This could work to our advantage. Play along.’ She tells me. After a brief hesitation, I brace my hand on the dirty floor for leverage as I rise up slowly. An arm
Jamari’s POVThe featherlight touch of someone’s fingers running up my leg woke me from the sleep I didn’t mean to happen. My eyes bolt open to find the man that brought me to this village staring down at me with a gentle look on his face, his fingers moving along my body in a lover’s caress.Forcing myself to stay still, I watch the man closely as he continues to move over my body, not yet realizing that I am awake. His eyes snap to mine suddenly, the startling blue color of his irises fading back to black once our eyes meet. His hand stills on its upwards journey just below my hip, his eyes fixated on my face.“What is it about you, pretty wolf?” He asks no one in particular, his wide, blue eyes trained on my face as he speaks. His mouth parts slightly as he stares down at me with wonder on his face. The moment passes just as quickly. The blue color of his eyes returns to their normal black color moments before he yanks his hand away from my leg and launches himself across the room
Kieran’s POV“Search the area, my pet.” I order my Raven, watching through his eyes as he circles around the dark forest in search of my missing bride. “She can’t have gone far without our knowing.” Anxiety rises within my system as my faithful pet continues flying through the forest with no sighting of my bride. Where could they have gone without my knowing? I have had eyes all through the forest, watching her as she makes her way deeper into the darker parts. My fist slams down on the diamond desk spread out before me, a small crack appearing from the force of my fist. Just then my mother walks into my office, her brow raised in question as she stares at me in curiosity. Pulling my consciousness from my pet, I turn and glare at my mother, upset at her interruption. “What do you want Mother, as you can see, I am busy.” I growl at her, my annoyance with her coming through in my words.Instead of being put off by my foul mood, my mother seems amused by the fact that something is both
Eve’s POV“It is no use Morgana.” Adam says for the millionth time since arriving here in these cells. “The doors are spelled shut and you are not going to break through them.” He leans his head against the dirty wall, closing his eyes as if he does not have a care in the world. “Bloody Incubus.” I mumble under my breath, earning a chuckle from Adam. My anger rising, I spin on him, placing my hands on my hips as I glare down at him. “You could help me instead of sitting there telling me how pointless this is.”One of his eyes pops open as he lets out a tired sigh. “Our Queen will stop at nothing to get you back Morgana.” Adam says gently, closing his eyes once again. “All we have to do is survive until she finds us.”Feelings of defeat rush through my system as sadness threatens to take over. I walk over to where Adam sits up against the wall and take a seat beside him, drawing my knees up and resting my cheek against my knees. “What if Jamari is stuck in a cell somewhere in this pla
Jamari’s POVIt has been three days since the man who kidnapped me has returned to my prison, and that is what this hut has become, a prison. Even though I have the freedom to walk out of the hut door if I want, it would mean nothing good for me if I did. The few times that I ventured to take a peak out of the hut door, my eyes have been met with the hungry gaze of dirty men lounging around, just waiting for me to make the mistake of leaving the safety of this hut. The only people that I have seen since being thrown in my hut are the women who bring me food three times a day and warm water to bathe in at the end of each day. I was too afraid to strip down and bathe the first night here, scared that it was a trick and the man would come in and rap me if I stripped away my clothing, but by the second day I risked it because I couldn’t stand my smell any longer. Now, on day four, I would welcome the man’s company, if for nothing else than to learn where my mate and Adam are being held.
I have decided to end book 2 where it is. Thank you all for your continued support and positive reviews. I will be starting Book 3, the final book in the series, soon and will have it up by next month. I am currently dealing with a family emergency that might make my planned timeline a little longer than I would like so please bear with me as I plan out how to end Jamari's journey. The next book will introduce the last of Jamari's mates and will bring everything that has happened in the last two books to a head as well. I am so grateful to everyone that has stuck by me throughout this journey and I am anxious to see what is in store for Jamari and her mates. All my love, Heidi Monath
Jamari’s POV‘Did this fake bitch just say what I think she said?’ My body moves before I can register what is happening. The feeling of my body flying through the air as I launch myself towards where Sabina lays on the floor staring up at Lucern with lovesick eyes. ‘I will rip her still beating heart from her chest.’Something grabs hold of my waist before wrapping their strong arms around the slender area and pulls me close to a hard body. Howard’s scent invades my senses as my enraged mind refocuses on what is happening in front of me. A hand moves up to clamp over my lips in a warning to be quiet. When Howard drops me back to the hardwood floors, I swirl around on him in anger and glare at him. He gives me a sheepish look before turning his attention back to Sabina and Lucern. Letting out a huff of anger, I turn myself back to the bitch as well, plotting out her slow demise in my head as I watch.Lucern stares at her quietly, disbelief clear on his handsome cocoa features. His bo
Lucern’s POV“No one is here.” A disappointed look appears on Sabina’s face as we make our way into Howard’s hidden office that only a select few people are able to access. As we look around the large room, we find no one in sight, but I can sense my mate’s scent somewhere in this room, so I know she is here. Before I can call for Jamari to let her know that I can sense her in the room, Sabina suddenly throws herself at me. Her body drapes over mine, sending confusion through my body as she grabs hold of me tightly. The scent of blood fills the room, causing my nostrils to flare as I seek out the scent. Shoving Sabina to the side, I look around the room in search of where the scent of blood could be coming from. Sabina whimpers from behind me, drawing my attention to her direction. Blood flows from her stomach, coating her hands as she presses down on the wound that has blood flowing out of it like a river. My senses go on overdrive as I search the room for the unknown threat that
Jamari’s POV“I have brought you here to offer you a warning.” My body stiffens at Howard’s words as a feeling of dread settles in the pit of my stomach. Howard motions for me to take a seat on one of the couches in the sitting area, a serious look taking over his features as he follows me over and takes a seat on a couch that faces the one that I sat on. “I am not the only one on the council that feels that Lucern has made a mistake by taking you as his Queen.” Howard says, an apologetic look pulling at his features. “That was of course before I realized that you would be an asset to the Vampire Realm.” He says, earning a snort from me in response. “I know that does not mean much now, but I do hope you will give me the chance to earn your trust.” A gentle smile appears on Howard’s face as he looks over at me. Even after everything that has been said and done by him recently, I can feel deep in my bones that Howard is telling the truth and that he means me no harm. And if that wasn
Jamari’s POV“Some might call you foolish for letting Howard off so easily, my lady.” Nodding my head in agreement, I walk out of the door without looking around at the disapproving faces of the rest of Lucern’s council members. I had originally come in search of Lucern to see what had gotten him so upset all of a sudden, I was not expecting to walk into a council meeting that was about me. “She is right, my lady.” The sound of Howard’s unexpected voice pulls me out of my thoughts, startling me slightly as I jump in place, my hand moving up to grasp the base of my throat in order to calm my nerves. An apologetic look appears on Howard’s face as he moves off of the wall that he was reclining on. “I did not mean to startle you, my lady.” Howard stops his forward movement a few feet away from me, nervously moving from foot to foot as an internal struggle appears on his face. “What is it?” I ask him curiously. Something is clearly bothering the old Vampire and with the way things ended
Lucern’s POVSilence moves around the room as everyone thinks over Jamari’s question. Removal from the council has never happened before, not in a situation like this at least. There have been times in history where members were not rechosen for the role of council member, but no one has ever been removed mid-term like Jamari is suggesting. Council members, as well as other subjects, have been sentenced to death for less than what Howard has been accused of. Most rulers do not take too kindly to their subjects speaking ill of themselves or their mates. “You do not wish for Howard’s head, my lady?” Sabina asks, an intrigued look on her face. She leans forward in her seat and places her chin on the back of her joined hands. Her brow lifts in interest as she stares over at Jamari and waits for her response.I lean back in my seat and watch as Jamari squirms in her seat, uncomfortable as ever with being the center of attention. Her gaze moves over my council members until her eyes land
Lucern’s POV “Don’t do something you might regret for me, my King.” Jamari’s whispered words echo around in my head as I struggle to regain control over the bloodlust that had slowly taken control over my actions. It is not often that I allow myself to get so enraged that the bloodlust takes over, it was something that I learned to control at an early age. Adrian steps up to stand beside Jamari, amusement glinting in those eyes of his as he looks between the two of us. Whispers begin to fill the quiet space all around us, Jamari’s presence soothing the fear that had my council members as still as a statue only moments before. Jamari lifts up her right hand and places it on the arm that belongs to the hand that is still currently squeezing the life out of Howard. Disgust takes over my face as I retract my claws from his neck but do not release my hold from around his neck. Within seconds the deep gashes around his neck has healed enough to stop the flow of blood from continuing to
Lucern’s POV“Sire, when are we going to unlock the Vampire Realm? Many of our subjects are complaining about the lack of freedom, and the subjects that are trapped on the outside of the Vampire Realm are starting to get antsy.” The circle of my council of advisors nod their head in agreement at Rudolph’s claim. Count Adrian leans back in his seat, his eyes surveying the older men that sit around us in the conference room that is usually used for conducting business. “Would the people rather we come under attack?” Adrian asks, his brow lifting in challenge. The council at least has the decency to look embarrassed that they had forgotten about the threat. “Has the threat not been subdued?” One of the men speaks up, a glint of mischief blatantly clear in his eyes. Howard is the one council member that I would love to get rid of. He never misses an opportunity to cause issues for me within the Realm and I still have not figured out what his problem is with me. I am the rightful heir t
Jamari’s POV“Are you sure that this is a good idea?” Kenji asks the same question that has been asked a hundred times since I told my mates that we need to get into the Fae Realm. “What if us unlocking the Fae Realm is what sets the events that you saw into motion? We can’t be hasty with our decision making.” Kenji’s words make me pause my speed reading of the spell books that Lucern has available in his massive library. A frown scrunches up the corners of my eyes as my brows draw together in thought. My eyes move up to find Kenji’s worried gaze. “I have to be there for him Kenji.” Sorrow fills my words as I am once again reminded of the scene that I watched play out before my eyes. Lifting my head for the first time in an hour, I look around in search of my Demon King whom I have given strict orders not to leave my side until we know for sure that the vision of him dying in that clearly does not come to pass. “Where is Levi?” I ask, sniffing the air to see if I can catch his scent
