Jamari’s POV

It has been three days since the man who kidnapped me has returned to my prison, and that is what this hut has become, a prison. Even though I have the freedom to walk out of the hut door if I want, it would mean nothing good for me if I did. The few times that I ventured to take a peak out of the hut door, my eyes have been met with the hungry gaze of dirty men lounging around, just waiting for me to make the mistake of leaving the safety of this hut.

The only people that I have seen since being thrown in my hut are the women who bring me food three times a day and warm water to bathe in at the end of each day. I was too afraid to strip down and bathe the first night here, scared that it was a trick and the man would come in and rap me if I stripped away my clothing, but by the second day I risked it because I couldn’t stand my smell any longer.

Now, on day four, I would welcome the man’s company, if for nothing else than to learn where my mate and Adam are being held.

Jamari’s POV As much as I have prayed to the Goddess that my baby would stop trying to rush their birth so they won’t be born in the Fae Realm, my prayers have gone unanswered. I find myself alone in a barren hut, in the middle of a ruthless camp, about to give birth to my child on my own. I would ask if this day could get any worse, but I fear that it could. If those men outside of this hut sense that I am in labor, they could pounce on me while I am weakened. I would not be able to defend myself, and my child, while going through the pains of labor. And it is painful as hell. Another delightful thing that women failed to tell me about. Another pain moves through my lower back on its way to my lower abdomen, nearly wrenching a painful scream from my lips. ‘You must be quiet Mari, we can’t let them know what is happening in this hut.’ I clench my teeth against the pain, ignoring Rieka’s words as I breath through the pain currently assaulting my body. She is not the one that is cu

Morgana’s POV “Here Adam.” I thrust my hand in front of his face, a bowl of soup appearing in my outstretched hand. “It has been three days since anyone has come down to check on us, we need to keep our strength up.” Adam reaches out and grabs my offered bowl of soup with a grumbled “thank you”.Settling myself on the dirty floor beside him, another bowl of soup appears in my hands. With a heavy sigh, I dig into the soup, making sure that I finish every last drop in order to keep up my strength for when the man returns. If the man returns. After three days of nothing it is coming more apparent that he has left us here to die. Three days of sitting in this cell, worrying about Jamari and whether her and her child are safe or even alive. Well, I know she is alive, I can feel her energy still strong as ever through our mate bond. That is the only thing that has kept me from going crazy in this dark, dirty cell. That, and Adam is actually pretty good company. He has remained calm under

  • Alpha Queen's Reluctant Mate   Chapter 46- Village Under Siege

Morgana’s POV Exiting the cells that are located beneath one of the abandoned huts on the outskirts of the village, we walk into chaos. Everywhere we turn, members from the Blue River Pack were fighting for their lives against an unknown enemy. Women, and even some children, can be seen fleeing the attack, running blindly into the forest surrounding the village. Fire explodes in one of the huts as we try to sneak past it, three women barely dressed run from the burning hut screaming. Adam and I stand and watch in silence as the women disappear somewhere into the forest. My gaze switches to Adam’s, a look of uncertainty passing between us. “I am not sure that these are my brothers and sisters.” He says to me, a frown scrunching up his brows as he looks around at the destruction of the village. Just then a man steps out from behind one of the burning huts. At least I am pretty sure it was a man, they had the build of a man, but every piece of their body has been covered with black

Jamari’s POVWaking from my slumber, I stretch slowly, working out muscles sore from Goddess knows what. Rolling to my side, I reach over to feel for my Kings, but find the bed empty beside me. Popping open an eye, I find myself in a bed that is not my own, in a room that is not mine in any of the Realms. Memories flood my system as I recall what happened just before passing out however long ago. Jerking up in bed, my gaze wanders around the same barren room that I was trapped in for four days, devoid of any sign of life. My hand reaches down and moves over my flat stomach, causing panic to rise up within me. It wasn’t a dream. I really did give birth to my child, but where is she? Flinging the blankets off of me, I move my legs to hang over the side of the bed. In my rush to get up, I trip over my own feet and fall hard on the floor with a loud thud. A cry of pain moves past my lips, filling the quiet around me as I try to pull myself up from the floor. My unsteady legs threaten t

Jamari’s POV“What happened after I passed out?” I ask Adam and Morgana. Pulling down on the oversized shirt, a shirt that I have no idea where it came from, I pull little Rose close to my breast in an attempt to feed her. One of the only things that I have learned about being a new mother is that sometimes breastfeeding doesn’t work out the way that we would hope. This wouldn’t be a bad thing if we were in one of the other Realms where there are alternatives to breast milk, but being trapped here in the dark forest doesn't leave me any other options. Rose nuzzles against my breast for a moment before opening her mouth wide and latching on to my hardened nipple as if she has been doing this all of her life. Which I guess technically she has seeing as she was only just born a little over an hour ago. My drifts away from the precious girl gulping down milk and back up to Adam and Morgana, who’s loving gazing is focused on the new Princess of the Demon Realm. Hopefully she gets her fa

  • Alpha Queen's Reluctant Mate   Chapter 49- Masked Savior

Jamari’s POV The stranger stands there at the entrance of the hut, the sunlight shining in from outside bathing him in ethereal light. Morgana wasn’t wrong in her assessment of them looking like ninjas seen on tv. The only thing exposed on the man is his beautiful dark green eyes, reminding me of a forest and mesmerizing to look at. Our surroundings disappear around us as we both get lost staring at each other. His scent assaults my senses, an earthy smell mixed with the smell of coconuts. An unusual combination that is appealing in its uniqueness. The man is smaller than that of my three Kings, but still taller than my five foot ten inch frame, making him the perfect size. Such a weird thought to have about a man that I have just met. Though there is something familiar about this man. It almost feel like I have met him before, but surely I would remember if I came across a man that was completely covered by clothing. Unless of course my memories were messed with again, somethi

  • Alpha Queen's Reluctant Mate   Chapter 50- Left Without A Word

Jamari’s POVThe three of us slept through the night, only waking up when Rose woke up insisting on being changed and fed. Other than that it was the best sleep any of us have gotten in quite a while, and I found myself waking up more refreshed than any other time since being trapped here. Rieka was back by the second time Rose woke me to be changed and then fed, she couldn’t stop staring lovingly at our pup as she kept me awake with her constant ogling. It took me twenty minutes to convince her that we needed to close our eyes and sleep while she slept or else we’ll be tired when we wake. But even then, I woke up to find myself staring down at Rose, watching as her chest moved up and down while she slept. Rieka had grumbled about not being tired after sleeping all day and that I should tune her out if I wanted to sleep so badly. A conversation that amused Morgana tremendously.I filled Rieka in on Rin and the feelings that I felt for him and she agreed that it is possible that he i

  • Alpha Queen's Reluctant Mate   Chapter 51- Being Followed

Jamari’s POVWe stayed in the village for two days before we decided that it was best to keep moving in order to stay off of the Unseelie Queen’s radar. Judging by the things that I have heard about High Queen Mab, I am pretty sure that I do not want to come face to face with the woman just yet. No one has had anything good to say about the Unseelie Queen, especially Adam.At least not anyone that we have come across while in the dark forest, though that could be because most of the creatures out here are here because of a curse placed on them thanks to said Queen. But due to that, I really have no interest in meeting High Queen Mab or becoming one of her potential victims. The feeling of being watched has nagged at me since we left the village a couple of hours ago, making me wonder if Rin is out there somewhere keeping an eye on me. That thought is a comforting one, but Rieka doesn’t believe that he is the one following us and has warned to be cautious. And that brings us back to w

Jamari’s POV‘Did this fake bitch just say what I think she said?’ My body moves before I can register what is happening. The feeling of my body flying through the air as I launch myself towards where Sabina lays on the floor staring up at Lucern with lovesick eyes. ‘I will rip her still beating heart from her chest.’Something grabs hold of my waist before wrapping their strong arms around the slender area and pulls me close to a hard body. Howard’s scent invades my senses as my enraged mind refocuses on what is happening in front of me. A hand moves up to clamp over my lips in a warning to be quiet. When Howard drops me back to the hardwood floors, I swirl around on him in anger and glare at him. He gives me a sheepish look before turning his attention back to Sabina and Lucern. Letting out a huff of anger, I turn myself back to the bitch as well, plotting out her slow demise in my head as I watch.Lucern stares at her quietly, disbelief clear on his handsome cocoa features. His bo

Lucern’s POV“No one is here.” A disappointed look appears on Sabina’s face as we make our way into Howard’s hidden office that only a select few people are able to access. As we look around the large room, we find no one in sight, but I can sense my mate’s scent somewhere in this room, so I know she is here. Before I can call for Jamari to let her know that I can sense her in the room, Sabina suddenly throws herself at me. Her body drapes over mine, sending confusion through my body as she grabs hold of me tightly. The scent of blood fills the room, causing my nostrils to flare as I seek out the scent. Shoving Sabina to the side, I look around the room in search of where the scent of blood could be coming from. Sabina whimpers from behind me, drawing my attention to her direction. Blood flows from her stomach, coating her hands as she presses down on the wound that has blood flowing out of it like a river. My senses go on overdrive as I search the room for the unknown threat that

Jamari’s POV“I have brought you here to offer you a warning.” My body stiffens at Howard’s words as a feeling of dread settles in the pit of my stomach. Howard motions for me to take a seat on one of the couches in the sitting area, a serious look taking over his features as he follows me over and takes a seat on a couch that faces the one that I sat on. “I am not the only one on the council that feels that Lucern has made a mistake by taking you as his Queen.” Howard says, an apologetic look pulling at his features. “That was of course before I realized that you would be an asset to the Vampire Realm.” He says, earning a snort from me in response. “I know that does not mean much now, but I do hope you will give me the chance to earn your trust.” A gentle smile appears on Howard’s face as he looks over at me. Even after everything that has been said and done by him recently, I can feel deep in my bones that Howard is telling the truth and that he means me no harm. And if that wasn

  • Alpha Queen's Reluctant Mate   Chapter 135- Careful Who You Trust pt. 1

Jamari’s POV“Some might call you foolish for letting Howard off so easily, my lady.” Nodding my head in agreement, I walk out of the door without looking around at the disapproving faces of the rest of Lucern’s council members. I had originally come in search of Lucern to see what had gotten him so upset all of a sudden, I was not expecting to walk into a council meeting that was about me. “She is right, my lady.” The sound of Howard’s unexpected voice pulls me out of my thoughts, startling me slightly as I jump in place, my hand moving up to grasp the base of my throat in order to calm my nerves. An apologetic look appears on Howard’s face as he moves off of the wall that he was reclining on. “I did not mean to startle you, my lady.” Howard stops his forward movement a few feet away from me, nervously moving from foot to foot as an internal struggle appears on his face. “What is it?” I ask him curiously. Something is clearly bothering the old Vampire and with the way things ended

  • Alpha Queen's Reluctant Mate   Chapter 134- Not So Foolish Queen

Lucern’s POVSilence moves around the room as everyone thinks over Jamari’s question. Removal from the council has never happened before, not in a situation like this at least. There have been times in history where members were not rechosen for the role of council member, but no one has ever been removed mid-term like Jamari is suggesting. Council members, as well as other subjects, have been sentenced to death for less than what Howard has been accused of. Most rulers do not take too kindly to their subjects speaking ill of themselves or their mates. “You do not wish for Howard’s head, my lady?” Sabina asks, an intrigued look on her face. She leans forward in her seat and places her chin on the back of her joined hands. Her brow lifts in interest as she stares over at Jamari and waits for her response.I lean back in my seat and watch as Jamari squirms in her seat, uncomfortable as ever with being the center of attention. Her gaze moves over my council members until her eyes land

  • Alpha Queen's Reluctant Mate   Chapter 133- Did Someone Say Treason?

Lucern’s POV “Don’t do something you might regret for me, my King.” Jamari’s whispered words echo around in my head as I struggle to regain control over the bloodlust that had slowly taken control over my actions. It is not often that I allow myself to get so enraged that the bloodlust takes over, it was something that I learned to control at an early age. Adrian steps up to stand beside Jamari, amusement glinting in those eyes of his as he looks between the two of us. Whispers begin to fill the quiet space all around us, Jamari’s presence soothing the fear that had my council members as still as a statue only moments before. Jamari lifts up her right hand and places it on the arm that belongs to the hand that is still currently squeezing the life out of Howard. Disgust takes over my face as I retract my claws from his neck but do not release my hold from around his neck. Within seconds the deep gashes around his neck has healed enough to stop the flow of blood from continuing to

  • Alpha Queen's Reluctant Mate   Chapter 132- Give Them What They Want

Lucern’s POV“Sire, when are we going to unlock the Vampire Realm? Many of our subjects are complaining about the lack of freedom, and the subjects that are trapped on the outside of the Vampire Realm are starting to get antsy.” The circle of my council of advisors nod their head in agreement at Rudolph’s claim. Count Adrian leans back in his seat, his eyes surveying the older men that sit around us in the conference room that is usually used for conducting business. “Would the people rather we come under attack?” Adrian asks, his brow lifting in challenge. The council at least has the decency to look embarrassed that they had forgotten about the threat. “Has the threat not been subdued?” One of the men speaks up, a glint of mischief blatantly clear in his eyes. Howard is the one council member that I would love to get rid of. He never misses an opportunity to cause issues for me within the Realm and I still have not figured out what his problem is with me. I am the rightful heir t

Jamari’s POV“Are you sure that this is a good idea?” Kenji asks the same question that has been asked a hundred times since I told my mates that we need to get into the Fae Realm. “What if us unlocking the Fae Realm is what sets the events that you saw into motion? We can’t be hasty with our decision making.” Kenji’s words make me pause my speed reading of the spell books that Lucern has available in his massive library. A frown scrunches up the corners of my eyes as my brows draw together in thought. My eyes move up to find Kenji’s worried gaze. “I have to be there for him Kenji.” Sorrow fills my words as I am once again reminded of the scene that I watched play out before my eyes. Lifting my head for the first time in an hour, I look around in search of my Demon King whom I have given strict orders not to leave my side until we know for sure that the vision of him dying in that clearly does not come to pass. “Where is Levi?” I ask, sniffing the air to see if I can catch his scent
