Jamari’s POVMy eyes still glued to Morgana as she runs her hands over her body, I make my way to a boulder sitting beside the hot springs that allows me to still have a full view of her. I set my clothes down on the boulder before pulling my t-shirt over my head and pulling it down over my bulging stomach. My still drenched leggings are the next to get pulled on. My tongue clucks in annoyance as I pull the wet garments up over my skin. A shiver moves through my body from the cold of the night biting at my wet clothing. Letting out a resigned sigh, I carefully seat myself on the boulder before turning to look back at Morgana in the springs. Her eyes lock with mine, a smouldering heat evident in her silver eyes. A new shiver moves through my body, but this one not from the cold, as her eyes roam over my body. Heat envelopes me, drying the clothing sticking to my body, leaving me in blissful warmth. A sigh of relief leaves me. Morgana nods her head in satisfaction before turning to c
Kenji’s POV“You shouldn’t be so hard on him Levi.” I tell Levi quietly from my place on our bed. “He is worried about Jamari the same as we are.” Levi’s gaze meets mine before he moves into the bathroom to shower off the dirt and grime without a word. Letting out a tired sigh, I stretch my six foot seven frame across the bed, enjoying the way my body sinks into the soft mattress, comforting aching muscles from hours of running through the forest. Lucern was correct in pointing out that we should have been here looking for a way to return Jamari to us, but he didn’t see the barely controlled rage seething beneath Levi’s quiet exterior. If Levi didn’t get out and release some of his anger then who knows what he might have done to someone here in the Castle. With the Fates being the most in danger. I can’t believe they meddled in our business once again and it resulted in Jamari being kidnapped by an unknown source, AGAIN. What the hell were those three thinking this time around? Le
Jamari’s POVThe sound of Morgana’s dragging feet and heavy breathing follows me as we make our way through the dense forest. It has been two days since we were dropped here in the Fae Realm. Two days of running around in the dark with little light to brighten our days and no idea which direction we should take. We haven’t come across any other creatures here in the forest after our run in with the cursed giants. The quiet constantly engulfing us was enough to drive a person mad, especially when the feeling of being watched hasn’t dissipated even once since arriving in this Realm. Morgana lets out a tired sigh behind me, her breathing becoming heavier by the second, alarming Rieka, causing her to perk up in my mind as she focuses her ears on Morgana. ‘She needs to rest Mari.’ Rieka tells me softly, her focus completely on Morgana as she stumbles around in the dark. We’ve been moving constantly since our rendezvous in the hot springs yesterday, my sad attempt to keep distance between
Jamari’s POVThe men from the forest launch themselves through the air, converging on Morgana and I at the same time. A growl tears from my lips as my hands move up to keep the dirty men off of my mate. Power surges through me, golden light appearing before me as a shield erupts around us, throwing the men off of us with force. The sound of bodies slamming into trees fills the quiet, their moans of pain echoing around us as they struggle to rise to their feet. They snap their broken bones back into place as if they didn’t feel the pain any longer. Uneasiness settles in my stomach as their eyes begin to emit a light glow in the dark. One of the men snarls in our direction before launching himself through the air once more, aiming for Morgana sitting beside me on the forest floor.A blast of power shoots from Morgana’s fingers, slamming into the man, sending him to the forest floor in a blaze of fire, his screams of rage and pain filling the silence. The remaining eight men stand stil
Morgana’s POVWatching Jamari move from wolf to wolf in an attempt to save them from the curse coursing through them has been heartbreaking. Everytime her wolf takes control and ends the life of the wolf she was working on, a piece of Jamari breaks, causing a stab of pain through my heart. Jamari is so sweet and innocent and has not learned quite yet that she can not save everyone. It will be a hard lesson for her to learn after this for sure. A lesson that I pray does not take away too much of her sweetness or innocence. The Realms need more people who care as deeply as Jamari does. She will make a fine Queen when she ascends the throne. A merciful Queen that cares about all of her subjects. Pride swells within me as I watch Jamari move to yet another wolf scattered within the trees. There is only one wolf left after the one she is currently working on and I pray that at least one of them survives long enough for her to set things right. It will soften her sense of failure if she s
Jamari’s POV“Thank you for the top up.” Morgana says from beside me, drawing my attention away from my search for running water. Morgana and I are both covered in blood and dirt and are in desperate need of a good cleaning. My gaze flashes to her momentarily before returning to searching the area for another hot spring or even a stream. “We will refill your magic more once we find water.” I tell her absently, not sparing her another glance. We continue walking in silence for around twenty more minutes, not that I can really keep track of time in this place, before I finally catch a whiff of water. After another five minutes of walking, we finally reached a small clearing with a small pond sitting in the middle of it.“Well it’s not heated, but at least it is water.” I say to Morgana as my eyes move over the clearing to ensure there is no threat nearby. “We need to wash up quickly and get your magic reserve filled back in case we face another attack.” When I am satisfied that there
Eve’s POV“Where did you run off to?” I ask my lover, anger glimmering in my eyes.Tristan rolls his eyes, shoving past me to make his way to the small bathroom attached to our room. “Am I a prisoner now?” He asks, raising an eyebrow in question. Tristan has become harder and harder to control these past few months and his impertinance was really starting to get on my nerves.“No, you are not a prisoner Tristan.” My fingers move to rub the bridge of my nose in exasperation. “But the Fae Realm knows about you now so you need to be careful not to get caught. High Queen Mab has sent out her Dark Hunt soldiers, and-” Tristan cuts me off with a bruising kiss. There was a time when passion would overcome the both of us whenever our lips would meet, but recently that passion has sizzled away to nothing. Tristan pulls back from me with a frustrated sigh, pacing across the room with his fingers running through his hair. “I promise not to leave again.” He tells me quietly. “I just felt…” He cut
Lucifer’s POV “Have you made any progress with finding a way to get Jamari back?” Levi runs his fingers through his hair, a tired look passing over his face. “Lucern has been combing through the magical books in his library since Jamari disappeared but has been unable to find anything that will help.” “And with Morgana trapped in the Fae Realm alongside Jamari we have no one here that can translate the book we found beneath the old Church Ruins.” Kenji pipes in when Levi goes quiet. My brows furrow as I think over what I am about to suggest, knowing it is not going to go over well with Levi. “Have you thought about letting your mother take a look at the book? Maybe she can find a way into the Fae Realm.” I hold my breath, waiting for Levi to explode in anger over my suggestion. Kenji’s body stiffens, his gaze moving to watch Levi as well. To our surprise Levi sits there quietly as he ponders over my suggestion. A pained look crosses over his face as he lets out a resigned s
I have decided to end book 2 where it is. Thank you all for your continued support and positive reviews. I will be starting Book 3, the final book in the series, soon and will have it up by next month. I am currently dealing with a family emergency that might make my planned timeline a little longer than I would like so please bear with me as I plan out how to end Jamari's journey. The next book will introduce the last of Jamari's mates and will bring everything that has happened in the last two books to a head as well. I am so grateful to everyone that has stuck by me throughout this journey and I am anxious to see what is in store for Jamari and her mates. All my love, Heidi Monath
Jamari’s POV‘Did this fake bitch just say what I think she said?’ My body moves before I can register what is happening. The feeling of my body flying through the air as I launch myself towards where Sabina lays on the floor staring up at Lucern with lovesick eyes. ‘I will rip her still beating heart from her chest.’Something grabs hold of my waist before wrapping their strong arms around the slender area and pulls me close to a hard body. Howard’s scent invades my senses as my enraged mind refocuses on what is happening in front of me. A hand moves up to clamp over my lips in a warning to be quiet. When Howard drops me back to the hardwood floors, I swirl around on him in anger and glare at him. He gives me a sheepish look before turning his attention back to Sabina and Lucern. Letting out a huff of anger, I turn myself back to the bitch as well, plotting out her slow demise in my head as I watch.Lucern stares at her quietly, disbelief clear on his handsome cocoa features. His bo
Lucern’s POV“No one is here.” A disappointed look appears on Sabina’s face as we make our way into Howard’s hidden office that only a select few people are able to access. As we look around the large room, we find no one in sight, but I can sense my mate’s scent somewhere in this room, so I know she is here. Before I can call for Jamari to let her know that I can sense her in the room, Sabina suddenly throws herself at me. Her body drapes over mine, sending confusion through my body as she grabs hold of me tightly. The scent of blood fills the room, causing my nostrils to flare as I seek out the scent. Shoving Sabina to the side, I look around the room in search of where the scent of blood could be coming from. Sabina whimpers from behind me, drawing my attention to her direction. Blood flows from her stomach, coating her hands as she presses down on the wound that has blood flowing out of it like a river. My senses go on overdrive as I search the room for the unknown threat that
Jamari’s POV“I have brought you here to offer you a warning.” My body stiffens at Howard’s words as a feeling of dread settles in the pit of my stomach. Howard motions for me to take a seat on one of the couches in the sitting area, a serious look taking over his features as he follows me over and takes a seat on a couch that faces the one that I sat on. “I am not the only one on the council that feels that Lucern has made a mistake by taking you as his Queen.” Howard says, an apologetic look pulling at his features. “That was of course before I realized that you would be an asset to the Vampire Realm.” He says, earning a snort from me in response. “I know that does not mean much now, but I do hope you will give me the chance to earn your trust.” A gentle smile appears on Howard’s face as he looks over at me. Even after everything that has been said and done by him recently, I can feel deep in my bones that Howard is telling the truth and that he means me no harm. And if that wasn
Jamari’s POV“Some might call you foolish for letting Howard off so easily, my lady.” Nodding my head in agreement, I walk out of the door without looking around at the disapproving faces of the rest of Lucern’s council members. I had originally come in search of Lucern to see what had gotten him so upset all of a sudden, I was not expecting to walk into a council meeting that was about me. “She is right, my lady.” The sound of Howard’s unexpected voice pulls me out of my thoughts, startling me slightly as I jump in place, my hand moving up to grasp the base of my throat in order to calm my nerves. An apologetic look appears on Howard’s face as he moves off of the wall that he was reclining on. “I did not mean to startle you, my lady.” Howard stops his forward movement a few feet away from me, nervously moving from foot to foot as an internal struggle appears on his face. “What is it?” I ask him curiously. Something is clearly bothering the old Vampire and with the way things ended
Lucern’s POVSilence moves around the room as everyone thinks over Jamari’s question. Removal from the council has never happened before, not in a situation like this at least. There have been times in history where members were not rechosen for the role of council member, but no one has ever been removed mid-term like Jamari is suggesting. Council members, as well as other subjects, have been sentenced to death for less than what Howard has been accused of. Most rulers do not take too kindly to their subjects speaking ill of themselves or their mates. “You do not wish for Howard’s head, my lady?” Sabina asks, an intrigued look on her face. She leans forward in her seat and places her chin on the back of her joined hands. Her brow lifts in interest as she stares over at Jamari and waits for her response.I lean back in my seat and watch as Jamari squirms in her seat, uncomfortable as ever with being the center of attention. Her gaze moves over my council members until her eyes land
Lucern’s POV “Don’t do something you might regret for me, my King.” Jamari’s whispered words echo around in my head as I struggle to regain control over the bloodlust that had slowly taken control over my actions. It is not often that I allow myself to get so enraged that the bloodlust takes over, it was something that I learned to control at an early age. Adrian steps up to stand beside Jamari, amusement glinting in those eyes of his as he looks between the two of us. Whispers begin to fill the quiet space all around us, Jamari’s presence soothing the fear that had my council members as still as a statue only moments before. Jamari lifts up her right hand and places it on the arm that belongs to the hand that is still currently squeezing the life out of Howard. Disgust takes over my face as I retract my claws from his neck but do not release my hold from around his neck. Within seconds the deep gashes around his neck has healed enough to stop the flow of blood from continuing to
Lucern’s POV“Sire, when are we going to unlock the Vampire Realm? Many of our subjects are complaining about the lack of freedom, and the subjects that are trapped on the outside of the Vampire Realm are starting to get antsy.” The circle of my council of advisors nod their head in agreement at Rudolph’s claim. Count Adrian leans back in his seat, his eyes surveying the older men that sit around us in the conference room that is usually used for conducting business. “Would the people rather we come under attack?” Adrian asks, his brow lifting in challenge. The council at least has the decency to look embarrassed that they had forgotten about the threat. “Has the threat not been subdued?” One of the men speaks up, a glint of mischief blatantly clear in his eyes. Howard is the one council member that I would love to get rid of. He never misses an opportunity to cause issues for me within the Realm and I still have not figured out what his problem is with me. I am the rightful heir t
Jamari’s POV“Are you sure that this is a good idea?” Kenji asks the same question that has been asked a hundred times since I told my mates that we need to get into the Fae Realm. “What if us unlocking the Fae Realm is what sets the events that you saw into motion? We can’t be hasty with our decision making.” Kenji’s words make me pause my speed reading of the spell books that Lucern has available in his massive library. A frown scrunches up the corners of my eyes as my brows draw together in thought. My eyes move up to find Kenji’s worried gaze. “I have to be there for him Kenji.” Sorrow fills my words as I am once again reminded of the scene that I watched play out before my eyes. Lifting my head for the first time in an hour, I look around in search of my Demon King whom I have given strict orders not to leave my side until we know for sure that the vision of him dying in that clearly does not come to pass. “Where is Levi?” I ask, sniffing the air to see if I can catch his scent
