115: Messed up

Elaine’s POV

With Riley here, the air felt lighter, and the townhouse suddenly seemed more inviting. We made our way to the bar area, where an array of drinks awaited us. Riley's eyes lit up as she took in the selection.

"Fancy a drink?" I asked, already moving towards the bottles.

"Absolutely," she replied with a grin. "Let's make something fun."

We mixed up a couple of cocktails, laughing and chatting as we went. The clinking of glasses and our shared giggles filled the room. I handed Riley her drink, and we clinked our glasses together.

"To friendship," I said, smiling.

"To friendship," she echoed, taking a sip. The drink was strong, but the warmth it spread through my body was welcome. We moved to the kitchen, where Riley eyed the pantry.

"What do you have to eat around here?" she asked, poking through the shelves.

"Not much, but I was thinking of making some noodles. Want to help?" I suggested.

"Sure thing," she said enthusiastically. We set to work, boiling water, chopping vege
