Stan cuddled Hayley on the couch where they sat together watching a movie and chatting over a bottle of wine. Stan told her about his trip but did not mention Raul as promised.
“It was torture; being away from you.” He concluded and gave her a soft kiss on the forehead.
Hayley smiled and looked up at him. “Why did you leave without calling me? Is there something I should know?”
“Um…” he was mumbling. “I-I… I guess I just missed you so much. I couldn’t stand the thought of losing another love since you never showed up as promised.” He paused. “You promised to visit me every weekend, remember?”
She scoffed. “Stan!?”
“I know; I know…” he cut in. “I was overthinking it. I’m sorry.”
“No; that’s not what I was going to say,” Hayley replied softly. She caressed his face gently and continued in her sweete
Raul did not yet develop the courage to talk to Betty. He had not visited Tom and Heather in a while. He was too busy working or worrying about Hayley. He sat in bed at exactly 6 am gazing at the paper that had Hayley’s number in it which Stan had given to him the other day.He thought about calling her but hesitated for lack of words. He did want to call her because he missed her so much and wanted to know what was up with the priest since she was the last one to see him. He ran his hands through his hair because he was overwhelmed. Immediately, there was a knock on the door. He noticed that his friends, Kal and Virgil were still fast asleep so he had to get the door himself. He wondered who it was coming so early in the morning. He took a peep through the door’s peephole and saw Ella standing there. He had almost forgotten about her and their last encounter that almost broke him and Virgil because he thought that he was deceiving and lying to him.
Ella managed to locate Betty’s apartment that morning and went over. She knocked on the door and Betty answered. She was looking a little weak.“Yes; who are you?” she asked in her husky voice.“Hi! I’m a friend of Collen’s.” Ella replied putting up a fake smile at her.Betty took a good look at her and recalled seeing her once at Claire’s when Raul and his friends still lived there. She managed to put up a smile and then opened the door to allow her in.“Hi! I just wasn’t expecting anyone; that’s why I’m surprised.”“I know,” Ella replied walking in gallantly. She gazed around Betty’s apartment to find that it was a small and messy apartment.“Please sit here.” Betty dusted the couch and Ella felt indulged as she sat trying to conceal her irritation. Betty sat on her bed after trying to pick up her clothes scattered arou
Lucas sat by his luna’s bed every day watching her sleep and regain her strength. He was deep in thoughts and did not see her open her eyes. She turned her head slowly to gaze at him and saw him thinking.“Hey!” she called weakly. “Where are you?”Lucas quickly turned to gaze at her and smiled. “I’ll go get the caretakers so you can get something to eat.” He made to get up when she held his hands gently.“Please stay here with me.” She begged and tried to sit up straight. Lucas helped her balance by placing a pillow behind her to get her to seat comfortably.“There you go.” He smiled and sat back on the chair beside her bed.She smiled at him softly. “Thanks.” She paused to gaze at him. “I haven’t spent time with you in a long while. It feels like forever, my love. Please stay.”“Sure, I’ll be right here with you.”S
Hayley laid in bed watching the phone ring countless times. Kara came up to meet her to know why she was letting the phone make so much noise. She entered her room to find Hayley staring and watching the phone ring.“Why aren’t you answering the phone?” Kara asked in surprise.“I don’t want to pick up,” Hayley replied, her face devoid of all emotions as she fiddled with her fingers.Kara felt concerned and wondered why her little sister was so afraid of being married which was not very different from the Moon Dance ceremony they celebrate in their world as werewolves where the alpha is united with a female for a mate.Kara exhaled and sat beside Hayley. “Hayley; what’s wrong? The poor guy is worried sick about you. You’re making him feel like he’s asked you for something out of this world.” She gesticulated. “It’s just marriage, darling. It’s not hell.”&ldquo
Hayley spent almost twenty minutes with Kara and the governor, listening to stories of the human world and all he knew of their world. They were sipping wine while they talked and all Hayley could think of was a chance to get close to take his hand again for a clearer vision of his past.Something about him did not feel right to Hayley. She just wondered what would have brought the governor and her sister so close to having him in on all their deepest secrets.“You seem far from us, Hayley. Something on your mind?” the governor asked trying to change the subject. He noticed that Hayley had something different from the ordinary and wanted to explore it further.“Oh no, sir,” Hayley replied with a sarcastic smile. “I was just admiring all your achievements. I wish I could do the same in my own time.”“Oh c’mon dear, I know you feel like your sister has made a huge mistake letting me in on all your secrets but
“Are you sure that this is a good idea?” Kara watched her sister pack a bag in preparation for her trip to the city center to meet Raul. “I’m not going to stop you; I just hope that know what you’re doing.”“I do, sis,” Hayley emphasized. “Don’t worry.”“What about Stan? Have you talked to him?”Hayley paused and sat on the bed calmly. She knew that Stan did not deserve to be thrown aside like she was doing to him. She did not want to call him any moment soon otherwise it would ruin her trip to the city to see Raul.“I’ll call him as soon as I return.” She promised.“It’s your call, darling. Don’t forget that he was the one who saved your life. And be careful with that Collen guy. I don’t know why but I just don’t feel good about that him.” Kara warned.“Why? You barely know him.” Hayley argued in Ra
Collen was excited to have Hayley around for a couple of days. They had a lot to talk about and Hayley had so much to share with him and his friends about the mainlands. Hayley got the special treatment. Raul’s service at the restaurant has availed him of the knowledge of service and entertaining guests. So he made Hayley comfortable, showing her around the city and even introducing her to Tom and Heather who received her with open arms. It was a weekend and Raul was off work this weekend so Tom had invited him and Hayley to the house for a little get-together. Raul went with Virgil and Kal as well; it was a full house because Ella was also present. Heather had prepared a beautiful setting for the meeting with tasty foods and expensive wine. Hayley loved wine. It was her craving since her arrival to the human world. Probably the only thing she loved about the human world aside from her sister and the lavish lifestyle she was exposed to.
Tom was still at the table along with Heather. He was thinking about all Hayley had said and was worried. Heather was cleaning the table with Ella, Virgil, and Kal helping out. She was watching her husband and knew he needed some consoling. She approached him and sat beside him to start a conversation.“What’s eating you up, my love?”Tom took a deep breath and caressed her hand on the table gently with a warm smile. He knew she was concerned and didn’t want her to be.“It’s nothing, babe. I just had a little setback.” He replied.“Do you want to talk about it?”He gazed at her, contemplating. He wanted to because he never kept secrets from her. But he also didn’t want her to worry. His face brightened up as he saw her lovely, comforting and charming smile. He caressed her cheek softly and replied.“You worry too much about me. Let me worry about you now.” He then change
