Sebastian
“I was thinking you weren’t going to make it. But I’m glad that you did,” Magnolia said, staring over at Sebastian with an oddly fond smile.
“You sent the invitation?” Sebastian asked, narrowing his eyes at his stepmother.
“Of course,” she answered. “You are my son after all, and I haven’t seen you in ages. I hated how we left things the other day and I wanted a chance to make things right.”
“Well, we are here,” Sebastian said, keeping his eyes locked on hers and his tone low. “Exactly as you wanted.”
“You have it all wrong, darling. I simply just wanted to enjoy some quality time with my son. Is that so wrong?”
Sebastian was anything but her son, but he couldn’t make a scene in the middle of this ball, so he kept his words to himself. Around her neck, he noticed, was a diamond necklace that he didn’t
Hannah “Dr. Davis. What has happened to you?” I asked, grabbing onto the bars of the cell. “What have they done…?”“You shouldn’t be here,” he groaned, lifting his head off the cold concrete ground. I could tell it pained him to speak; it looks like he’s been tortured for months. My heart ached for him; Nancy was going to lose her mind once she found out what was happening to her husband this entire time. “You need to leave before he catches you here.”“Let me worry about that,” I said, shaking my head with dismay. “We need to get you out of here. Where can I find the keys?”I went to search the front desk for the keys to his cell, but his voice stopped me.“Wait; if we are caught, we will all die. I can’t risk your life to save mine.”“I can’t let you rot in here,” I said, narrowing my eyes at him.
Hannah“What’s the rush? It’s not even midnight yet. The fun hasn’t even started,” Jack said, keeping his eyes locked on Sebastian. He was taunting us because he thinks he won. Meanwhile, Amy kept her eyes locked on me.“I’m afraid we can’t stay,” Sebastian said, keeping his tone even and unbothered. “But thank you for the invitation. It was a lovely ball.”Sebastian started to turn away, but Jack spoke again, causing him to pause.“I don’t particularly like when my guests wander around the palace without my permission.”“My apologies,” Sebastian said, turning slightly to look at him. “I wanted to see if my belongings are here. We don’t have much considering we haven’t been on this land in 5 years.”Jack assesses his face like he was trying to figure out if he was telling the truth or not.&ldq
Hannah Opening my eyes did nothing; it felt like they were still closed even though I knew for sure that they were open. It was what I expected though upon entering the underworld. This is what happened the last time too. Except, the last time, I was taken out of this dark room by a force that I couldn’t see. I was in and out of consciousness like I was drugged and when I came through for the final time, I was back in my room. Or at least, I thought it was my room. This time, there was no invisible force that took me away and I didn’t feel like I was drugged. I felt somebody besides me though and from the feeling of my wolf, I knew right away that it was Sebastian. He moved slightly beside me, indicating that he was alive and that he too was waking up. On the other side of me, still holding onto my arm, I felt Wrenley. Her body was trembling in fear, and I felt rotten for putting her in this position. I lifted my body so I was sitting up; I tried adjusting my eyes to my new surr
Hannah“So, she’s the chosen daughter of the moon goddess and that’s why she’s here?” Liz asked for clarification. Both she and Caroline looked wary about all that we have told them. I couldn’t tell if they believed us or not. But they also knew this wasn’t something we would ever lie about. We wouldn’t put Wren’s life in danger like this for nothing.“And Xander is trying to become his vessel. Like completely take them over?” Caroline asked, staring between all of us.I managed a nod.“The only way to stop him is to destroy the heart,” I said.“And the heart is…?” Liz started to ask.“My mother,” I answered.“Right,” Liz breathed. “So, you have to kill your mother?”“We have to stab her in the heart with the scepter,” Sebastian answered. “Once the heart is destroyed, Xander will be powerless.”“The heart is the main power source?” Liz asked, raising her brows. “So, once the heart is destroyed, Xander will have no power. That includes his vessels?”“Exactly,” I answered.“But we need
Hannah“Mom…” I breathed again, staring up at the woman who was once my mother. She stood at the doorway and narrowed her eyes at me. I couldn’t tell what was running through her mind, but I saw the conflicts hidden in her eyes.“Hannah…” she said in return. “What are you doing here?”“I didn’t like how we left things,” I said, peering over at her through my lashes. “I wanted a chance to make things right.”“You left…” she said, shaking her head. “You…”“I never left,” I lied. “I’ve been in the underworld this entire time. I’ve been hiding.”“You’ve been in the underworld the whole time?” She asked. “What about Liam?”I hadn’t thought about what I would tell her about Liam. I couldn’t tell her that he was here because she would never stop looking for him.“He’s not here,” I told her honestly. “He needed to get back to his body before he died permanently.”“He’s alive?”“Yes,” I answered with a head nod. “He’s alive. But I’m here, and I want to make things right with us.”“What about y
Sebastian “Daddy?” Wrenley whispered in a confused tone. Her eyes were closed, and she was gripping the sofa tightly. She had been watching Hannah the entire time. She mentioned that Hannah had cuffs on her, and Sebastian knew right away that it meant Hannah didn’t have her wolf abilities. It worried him, but it was to be expected. No way they were going to trust her with her wolf that easily.Wren also mentioned that Hannah found her mother. This was good; that meant Hannah was doing what she can to get her mother to trust her. But Wren had paused and whispered the word “daddy” in a question.“What is it?” Sebastian asked, taking a hold of Wren’s trembling fingers. “Do you see something?”“I see you, daddy…” Wren said in a worried tone. “You’re there. But you aren’t there.”That didn’t make any sense; she was seeing Sebastian? He wasn’t anywhere near the palace. Unless that meant the shifter had turned into him. Shifters had the ability to turn into anybody they have seen during the
HannahAs soon as I released the cuff and allowed it to fall to the table, I could sense my wolf again. It was like coming up for fresh air. I knew right away that the man that stood before me was not my husband. It was a shifter; it was the same shifter that took the form of my mother. This was the shifter I needed to stab in the chest to destroy Xander’s powers. He looked surprised at my words when I revealed the name of Sebastian’s sister. I didn’t give him any time to say anything else. I was running quickly in the direction of Scott. He must have mindlinked Caroline and she told him a part of the story that made him suspicious and realize that I was in danger. He was running too; he was running in the direction of a door on the far side of the room. It was unoccupied. It was most likely locked, but because he has worked in the palace for a long time, he probably had access to it.I was right; he reached the door and with a press of his thumb, it unlatched, and he was able to push
Hannah“If we are going to walk through the palace, should we hide our scents?” Caroline asked, looking at us worriedly.I shook my head.“There’s no use in doing that. We are being looked for as we speak. As soon as we are spotted, we will be exposed.”“She’s right,” Sebastian agreed. “We might as well go all in.”“What about Wrenley?” Caroline asked.I looked down at Wren who looked nervous; she had her fists clenched to her sides and her body trembled slightly. But one look at her eyes and I saw the determination all over her face. She might have been nervous, but she was ready for a fight. She was strong even though she didn’t have a lot of practice using her magic. She was the chosen daughter of the moon goddess; this is what she was created to do. The moon goddess was on our side.I looked back at Caroline.“She’s ready,” I said with a confident smile.“Okay then,” Caroline said nervously as she turned to the library’s main entrance. “As soon as we leave here, we need to be read
