"...We're going to exchange your blood with Jenna's..."
"...From now on, you'll be Jenna..."
"No... Stop! Please No!!" I screamed as I opened my eyes. I gasped sharply, trying to calm my racing heart, when I realized I was lying on a hard, wooden bed.
I was in a log cabin, it seemed. A handsome young man was kneeling by the fire, giving me an astonished look while roasting a hare.
"You're awake!" The man said in surprise. He dropped the hare and approached me.
I struggled to sit up when a wave of dizziness hit me. I couldn't help but muffle a grunt.
The man reached out to help me, then gave me a cup of water.
"You're lucky. If I, the Great Franz, hadn't happened to be nearby, you might have ended up in the mouth of some beasts."
After finishing the cup of water, I gave him a sincere thanks.
"How did you get to the edge of the Blood Shadow Pack's territory? Also, did you know you were running a high fever?" Franz asked.
I was in the Blood Shadow Pack's territory?!
"Could you take me to your pack?" I grabbed Franz's hand, excited that I had made it. However, my action pulled on my wound, and I coughed violently.
Franz was taken aback by my reaction and subsequent coughing. He quickly patted my back. "What's the rush? Don't you know how serious your injuries are? Oh, Moon Goddess blesses you. Come, lie back down!"
I shook my head, giving him a stubborn look and insisting, "I'm fine."
"Okay, fine. I'll take you there," Franze agreed with a sigh. "But why do you want to go to my Pack?"
I cleared my throat before speaking, "I need to find my mate. We were separated before this, but I know he's in the Blood Shadow Pack."
I didn't tell him the whole story. Lionel had a special status, after all.
Franz gave me an envious look. "I see. Friend, I kind of envy you. I've been turned for five to six years now, and I still don't know what it's like to have a mate. You're in such a hurry to find him, so the two of you must be very much in love."
When I thought of Lionel handing me the rose brooch under the moonlight, I couldn't help raise a smile on my lips.
I nodded.
"Okay then, lucky girl. I'll take you to my pack," Franz said with raised eyebrows. His eyes curved up when he smiled, and he looked cute.
"But it might have to wait. I have to find a Moonlight Herb first. I've got to give it to my best buddy as his wedding present, you know? I would have already had one earlier, but I picked you up instead! You were severely injured, so I had to feed you the Moonlight Herb I had. And now I have to find a new one."
Franz spoke briskly, never complaining that he had wasted the herb on me.
Moonlight Herb could relieve pain and heal wounds to some extent, and it could usually only be picked deep in the forest. It was precious because it was very rare.
"Thank you very much, Franz. You're my savior. I'll definitely find a way to repay you," I said, feeling gratitude toward him from the bottom of my heart. "But... why are you giving your friend Moonlight Herb for his wedding?"
Franz rolled his eyes. "I feel angry just thinking about this! He and I grew up together and we are more than brothers! But lately, I've been so busy that I haven't had the chance to return to the pack. And when I did, I didn't expect him to suddenly say he would get married soon and that his wife-to-be was very weak. That's why he asked me to find some Moonlight Herbs. I don't even know what his future wife looks like or even her name. Even though I don’t know her, I still have a bad feeling for this woman!"
I couldn't help but smile helplessly at him.
Just then, a burnt smell filled the air. Franz reacted immediately, jolting up and running toward the fire as he yelled, "My hare!"
His antics amused me, and I laughed.
"Hey, lucky girl! Could I get your name?" Franz asked as he picked up the charred hare.
"My name is Rylee," I said softly, giving him the name I had gone by for the last nineteen years.
Franz smiled brightly and said, "A pleasure to meet you, Rylee."
***
Five days later, Franz found the Moonlight Herb on the edge of a hidden cliff. He almost fell off the cliff picking this thing, but luckily I found a rope to pull him up. He was bruised all over by the rocks on the way up, but anyway, the herb was found.
I was also in better condition three days later. We decided to set off.
We arrived at the Blood Shadow Pack in the evening.
The place was lively and filled with happy noises. Colored lights hung everywhere, and the dark sky was as bright as day. The further we walked toward the center of the pack, the more people we saw. All of them had joyful looks on their faces.
"It's a good thing we made it in time," Franz said, releasing a breath of relief.
"We got in time? For what?" I asked.
Just then, two girls passed us and shouted happily with excitement, "Hurry up! Alpha Lionel's wedding is about to start!"
It felt like lightning had struck me when I heard those words. I couldn't believe my ears.
His wedding?!
I was here! Who was he marrying?
"Hey, Rylee! Wait up! Where are you going?"
I ignored Franz calling out to me and ran desperately toward the center of the square where the crowd was gathering.
Then, I jerked to a halt.
On the high platform, before the Moon Goddess statue, Lionel and Jenna stood side by side in their gorgeous wedding clothes.
The rose brooch that I thought was lost was now hanging on Jenna's chest. She was leaning close to Lionel, whispering something into his ear.
Lionel was as tall and handsome as I remembered, but the person in his eyes, was not me.
A worse thing I found was that the Mate Bond between Lionel and I had disappeared. I couldn't feel it anymore.
My parents watched the two with bright smiles on their faces.
...and there wasn't a single trace of worry or anxiety in their eyes.
It was as though my disappearance was nothing to them.
The scene before me was painfully harmonious, and I couldn't help but want to shield my eyes from the blinding light they gave off.
"Rylee, why did you suddenly run away?" Franz asked as he caught up to me.
Just as he came to a stop by my side, a guard stepped in his way and said, "Beta Franz, you're finally back! Alpha Lionel has been looking for you for so long!"
Franz shot me an awkward smile. "Sorry for not telling you who I am before. I was afraid you'd be uncomfortable, and I don't have many friends apart from Lionel so... Huh?!"
Franz suddenly exclaimed. "How do you and our Luna look exactly alike?"
I smiled miserably.
Just then, my father walked on stage and loudly announced, "Ladies and gentlemen, at this moment, Lionel Garcia, Alpha of the Blood Shadow Pack, and Rylee Richie, my daughter, are united before the divine Moon Goddess. May the Goddess bless them through adversity, protect them from illness and forget all sorrow. May they love and cherish each other, forever!"
Franz gave me a shocked look. "The one on stage is Rylee? Then who are you?! Did you lie to me?!"
"I didn't lie," I whispered.
"My Moon Goddess, what the hell is going on?!" Franz muttered.
Dad turned to Lionel and Jenna then asked, "Do you swear in the name of the Moon Goddess to love each other truly until forever?"
Jenna smiled shyly and said, "Yes, I do."
Lionel's lips twitched slightly. "I..."
"Wait!" I yelled, interrupting him and walking toward the high platform.
"Rylee, come back! What the hell?!" Franz hissed.
He tried to reach out to grab me, but I quickly shook him off.
At my outburst, the crowd had gone silent but quickly broke out into chatters. The people spontaneously made a way for me as I walked through the noisy crowd.
Ignoring Jenna's shocked and frightened face, I looked at Lionel and said slowly and firmly, "She's not Rylee!"
I turned to the tens of thousands of people below the stage, met their probing, skeptical eyes, and shouted, "I am the real Rylee Richie. I am Lionel's true mate. Your new Luna."
Then I turned and looked at Lionel, smiling.
The love of my life was standing right in front of my eyes. It was like all the pain I had felt all these days disappeared at this moment.
I looked into his eyes, waiting for him to come to me. I waited for him to take my hand and to give me his promise too.
…
It was like a century had passed.
"...No, you're not," Lionel frowned and finally opened his mouth.
"I can't feel our Mate Bond. "
"Enough, Jenna! Stop this! Are you trying to ruin your sister's wedding?" Dad reprimanded me sternly. There was a strong warning laced underneath his voice.I ignored my father and turned toward Lionel and Jenna.I came to a stop before Lionel. Looking at him, I said firmly, "I AM Rylee. I know all of them call me Jenna now, but I'm not! Look at me closely. You can recognize me, can't you?"Lionel furrowed his brows, a hint of doubt flashing in his eyes.Jenna cowered and hugged Lionel's arm tightly before saying uneasily, "Jenna... I know you like Lionel too. I don't blame you, but you shouldn't lie. I trusted you so much..."I clenched my fist. My eyes were puffy and red, and my heart was pounding crazily in my chest.I was waiting for Lionel's answer. He would believe me.He surely would!Lionel took a step closer to me. He raised his hand as though he was about to touch me.I reached out to take that hand-And that's when Jenna reacted and pulled Lionel back and screamed, "Lionel!
Franz led me into a dark room while I was still in a trance. After he left, I sat alone in the darkness and wept silently. How did things turn out like this?Creak...I don't know how much time had passed, but someone opened the door and turned on the lights.Jenna walked in with a pair of sharp scissors in her hand."Why are you here? To laugh at me? Or do you want to kill me? It'll be easier to replace me if I'm gone, isn't it?" I struggled to speak. I could taste the blood in my mouth from my throat.Jenna didn't answer. She approached me, bringing with her the fresh scent of roses that once belonged to me.I felt a stabbing pain in my wrist. It was the feeling of blood circulating back after being tied up for a long time.Jenna had used the scissors to cut the rope binding my hands."Leave. Leave this place. Return to the Blue Moon Pack with Mom and Dad and never come here again. Don't ever meet Lionel again."Lionel...My heart twisted at the sound of his name. I stared at Jenna
"Rylee!"Lionel approached me, undisguised concern on his face.My heart skipped a beat.Did he recognize me?"I'm here, Lionel," Jenna cried out from the corner she was in.Lionel stopped in his tracks. He looked at me and then at Jenna in confusion for a moment before he walked towards Jenna."Are you okay?" He asked Jenna.Jenna shook her head with a pitiful look and kept sobbing. Then, my parents also entered the room.My mother's eyes fell on the gash on my face. Just as she was about to move forward to check on me, my father pulled her back."What happened?" Dad asked.Jenna pointed at me in panic and choked out, "S-she tried to kill me! I was just trying to cut the rope, then she grabbed the scissors and attacked me! When I tried to resist, she accidentally cut her own face!"After that, she buried her head in Lionel's shoulder with a frightened look."T-that's not what happened!" I shouted, ignoring my still bleeding face. "She's lying! It's obvious she-"Slap!My father slapp
The pain came from deep within my soul. Removing the Pack Bond felt as painful as digging out bones from my body while I was still awake.I fell to the ground, my breathing became faint.Franz picked me off the ground and said, "Hold on. Bear with it... You can bite me if it's too much."I shoved him away and got to my feet, staggering toward the room's exit and walking deeper into the night."Hey! Wait for me!"……"Say, why did you lie to me? Why did you say you're Rylee? Do you like Lionel so much that you'd even lie to yourself to become another one?"Franz chattered away at my side, but I ignored him.Franz muttered to himself. "But it didn't make sense for you to lie to me in the first place... Hey! What's wrong with you?"I spat out a mouthful of blood and felt myself pitch forward as I lost my balance."Fuck!" Franz cursed as he pulled me into his arms. "Stop scaring me, okay?"My head was spinning, and my eyelids were heavy. I couldn't open them at all. All I could hear was th
Rina—That’s my new name. Two years ago, when I left the Blood Shadow Pack, I headed east following what Franz had told me. About a week later, I finally found the place he mentioned—Moon House. The owner of Moon House was a woman, called Stacey. She took me in and provided me with a room to stay. When she asked for my name, I hesitated.I figured, the name Rylee didn't belong to me anymore and I, for one, didn’t want to use Jenna’s name either.“Rina,” I finally said.In the end, I told her the name of my wolf. After putting on a black veil face-cover, I took the hood off the hanger and covered my head.My face was scary now, there was a long, ugly scar.In Moon House, I had to take care of some children. I don’t want to scar them, so I wore the black veil to cover my face daily. On top of that, I also wore black colored contact lenses when I went out so I would not be recognized.Stacey had taken in many Rogues. They were mostly young children who had been abandoned by their parents,
I never thought I would see Lionel ever again! At that instant, it felt like I had returned to that night two years ago...The betrayal, abandonment, and the expulsion from my Pack...I had tried to forget those painful memories, but I could only push it to the back of my mind. And yet Lionel turned up again and he brought it back...It all happened so suddenly and unexpectedly. I felt I couldn't breathe, then trembled uncontrolling.A sturdy black wolf rushed forward, launching itself at the mohawk man holding me captive.I stumbled as I lost my balance, collapsing to the ground. The black wolf then transformed into a tall, strong, tan-skinned warrior. He tried to help me up."Are you okay? You looked in pain," he said.I shook my head, "Save that girl first."After a confirming glance, the werewolf warrior swept past me and pounced on the man who held Cara.Soon, those guys from the Razor Fang Gang were in controlled, and they shouted in terror, "Please! We didn't mean to do it! We
Chapter 13In great shock, I sided away and tried to avoid Lionel's hand.He grabbed and ripped down my hood before I could escape. My long hair tumbled down, but luckily my veil still stayed on.As for my hair... Well, I had dyed my blonde hair black long ago, he shouldn't be able to recognize me.Besides, my eyes were also black with the contact-lens.I plucked the courage to look at Lionel. Sure enough, his hand hung mid-air, shock on his face. "Rina..." Cara whispered, tugging on my sleeve timidly.Lionel slowly lowered his hand."Rina," he murmured under his breath. After a few seconds, he looked away, no longer fixated on figuring out who I was."Sorry," Lionel said softly. "I’ve taken you for someone else. Your eyes are very alike to someone I once knew."I grabbed my hood and put it back on, avoiding his gaze. "It's fine. Just keep your distance from me."After that, I took Care and turned to leave."Wait." Lionel stopped me. "It's getting dark. We'll walk you back."I bit my
"Why are you here?" I asked in surprise. "I obviously...""Obviously left while we were asleep," Lionel said, finishing my sentence.I stood there in shock. So, this man had already grasped my thoughts and plans early on."You followed us?" I hissed through gritted teeth. "How can you be so shameless?!"Lionel raised an eyebrow, clearly not offended by my words due to his good manner. He explained, "You're overthinking it. I was just trying to find a comfortable place for me and my comrades to rest for the night.""Rejected! None of you are welcome here!" I roared.Lionel pulled a large wad of cash from his pocket and asked, "Is this enough?""..."That was a very thick wad of cash.Cara smiled brightly and moved forward and took the money. "Of course! That's definitely enough!"I turned to Stacey, giving her a pleading look and hoping she would help. However, Stacey stood still like a wooden sculpture. She stared right up at the men behind Lionel.I followed her gaze and saw it was..
"Ben!" Lionel roared. "Take her away!" "I won't leave!" I cried in response. "Lionel, I know about everything! All of it! You liar! Why didn't you tell me that you let Bruce take me to save my life? Why didn't you tell me you ruined your hand to rescue me? Why?!"Lionel didn't answer, but he lowered his head, a soft gaze in his eyes that he would never show as a king."Is he the only one in your eyes?!" Bruce growled at me while I waited for Lionel's answer. "I'm also your fucking mate, you know?!"I slowly turned to glare at Bruce, then sneered, "You've only been using me from the start! I'm only a tool in your eyes!"Bruce was stunned. "What are you talking about? I went out of my way to wage war against the Blood Shadow Pack to take you back! I did all of this for you!""Enough!" I screamed. "Did you really think I'm stupid?"I made my way slowly toward Lionel and Bruce. "I still remember the story you told me about your life. If I'm not mistaken, the father you spoke about... It'
After three days of traveling, I finally saw Stacey again. She and Ben had worked out all their troubles and even had a son.Stacey was excited when she saw me."You finally remembered?" she asked."Yes," I replied with a smile. When I looked at the familiar surroundings of the Moon House, I felt warm inside.Stacey had tears in her eyes and choked up when she saw my round belly. "It'll be okay. I'll treat your baby as my own. We'll raise them together, okay?"I nodded gratefully, and we hugged each other tightly.A week later, I gave birth smoothly to twins with Stacey's help. As if verifying the existence of my past and life, I gave birth to two daughters. However, I vowed that I would never let them experience the same miserable fate I did. I would love them both equally and ensure they grew up healthy and happy."Have you thought of names for them?" Stacey asked once everything had settled down."Yeah," I responded as I cooed at them. "Their names will be Celest and Elsine.""They
"You still want to leave me, don't you?" Lionel asked calmly from where he sat on the couch.I was silent for a while before I said, "I thought you already knew the answer to that.""So, no matter what I do, I can't convince you to stay," Lionel said with a smile."That's right. Staying by your side will only make me recall the painful memories repeatedly," I said.Lionel closed his eyes, the veins on his forehead growing more prominent as the minutes ticked by. After a few moments, he opened his eyes and said hoarsely, "Okay." I was dumbfounded. Had I misheard him?"W-what did you say?""I said okay. Leave. Take the baby... and leave," Lionel said."Why would you-""I don't want you to suffer anymore, and I don't want to suffer anymore either because of you," Lionel cut me off, the smile still on his lips. "I know you'll never forgive me, so... I won't trap you here anymore."With that said, he got up to leave. Before he exited the room, he stopped and said, "I'll have someone pack
Two months later, I was sitting by the window and caressing my round belly when the butler came to me and said, "My lady, the Blue Moon Pack's Alpha and Luna are here for a visit."I stayed silent for a while as I continued to rub my stomach before finally saying, "Let them in.""Understood."After the butler left, Rina asked, 'Are you actually willing to meet them?''No,' I replied easily.'Then why did you let them in?' 'I'm simply curious...' I chucked mockingly. 'I wonder... What do they have to talk to me about now that things have reached this point?'The door to the room opened once more, and my parents walked in. Unlike what I remembered, they looked much older now. Their heads were full of visible white hair, and the wrinkles on their faces were prominent, especially on my father's. He was no longer the towering and intimidating Alpha, and the vicissitudes of age and helplessness were obvious in his eyes.As required by etiquette, they gave me a respectful salute. I waved m
I never thought I would learn the truth of my past this way, and I didn't expect to feel calm while listening to Jenna speak. As the tale unraveled, it felt like someone was picking apart old scars on my skin and making them bleed. However, I simply stood quietly, listening to the woman huddled in the cage as she recounted the memories. It felt surreal, like listening to stories I was not part of, even though I played a huge role in them.Jenna spoke for a long time, and once her trembling voice stopped, it was a long time before I finally said, "I'll release you once the ship docks at the shore."Jenna was shocked by my mild response. "...Don't you hate me? I... I stole the life that was meant to be yours. I... I even wanted to kill you...""What answer do you want from me?" I shot back at her with a mocking smile. "If you were me, what would you do?"Jenna paled instantly at my words.I signed and turned to leave, ignoring the hysterical sobs that broke out behind me. I leaned on t
"What did you say?" I asked. I was so shocked that I stopped struggling."Jenna isn't pregnant. She showed up that way to sabotage our relationship," Lionel said.I blinked, confused. "But I clearly saw-""Bring her in!" Lionel suddenly said coldly. The bedroom door opened, and two guards walked in. They carried a she-wolf with messy hair into the room and threw her on the ground. She coughed violently for a while before finally looking up, revealing a familiar face.It... was Jenna! Why was she here?"Tell her," Lionel firmly ordered as he looked at Jenna sternly.Jenna visibly shuddered at the sound of Lionel's voice, curling into a ball as if terrified of him. What exactly had Lionel done to her? Jenna used to be so proud and arrogant, but now she looked like she had a mental breakdown."Don't test my patience," Lionel warned.Jenna trembled even more at that, and she glanced at me before finally stuttering out, "Y-yes... I faked my pregnancy. I wanted to destroy your relationship
I gritted my teeth, tore off the cloth around Lionel's waist, and held his huge member in my hands. After stroking it a few times, it gradually hardened, and I leaned down to take it into my mouth, swallowing as I did.Lionel let out a low, muffled grunt, but his eyes remained closed. He subconsciously snapped his waist upward by instinct, and his member fully hardened after a few minutes of sucking. It was a matter of life and death, so I didn't care how embarrassing the situation was. I pulled off my panties and rubbed my clit, pushing two fingers inside my core and stretching my walls quickly. When I felt wet enough and fluids dripped from between my legs, I straddled Lionel and took his large dick into me in one smooth motion. The sex was rushed, and there was not a hint of pleasure in this exchange. The entire situation was absurd, but I could feel the poison slowly being transferred into my body as my strength drained away quickly. It was working! However, I needed to keep goi
My heart tightened at Lionel's condition. He tried his best to smile, but it came out more like a grimace, then he reached up to touch my cheek. "Don't be scared, Rylee, I..."His eyes slipped closed before he could finish his words, and his body became heavy as he fell unconscious."Lionel! Wake up! Stop scaring me like this, Lionel!"No matter how many times I called his name, Lionel's eyes remained closed. The rain got heavier, and panic seeped into my mind. I looked around, but there was nothing in the clearing save for the trees around us.If we stayed here, Lionel might die. The thought of Lionel's death caused agony to wash over me, and I lost my breath for a moment. No, I couldn't sit here and wait for death! I needed to at least find a place out of the rain.I gritted my teeth, took off my wedding dress, and then wrapped Lionel's shredded clothes around my chest before placing him on my back and walking back along the path we came from."Bastard! You better hold on. If you
(Rylee's POV)Lionel suddenly stopped talking, and I looked up at him only to see a fierce scowl on his face."Shh!" He held a finger to his lips, gesturing for me to keep quiet, followed by a wary look around the area. The rain pounded frantically through the leaves and onto the ground, the rhythm of it sounding like drum beats. Before I could react, a huge blur burst out from the bushes and lunged at us. It took a moment for my eyes to adjust, and I realized it was an unusually large wolf! It's eyes were glittering green, shining fiercely with a maniacal glint. I could practically taste the bloodlust radiating from it!But that was not the worst of it. When the brown wolf shot out, more than a dozen wolves followed behind, their sharp canines glinting and growls echoing in the air.Lionel reacted instantly, slipping his arm around my waist. He lifted me and leaped upward to avoid the brown wolf's attack. I couldn't keep up with the sudden change in momentum and only heard the wind
