Chapter 70: Her Death

Amarantha's POV

I was dragged into the dungeon. I sobbed and sobbed as I kissed the dusty ground.

As expected, I still belonged to the ground. To the bottom of the food chain. I was still the same old human slave I was once before.

I made a lie and tried to trick Iram.

That whole night, I was punished. Several guards whipped my back. They were effortlessly doing it without even exerting force. If they did, I would be torn to pieces.

I did not plead for them to stop. I just let them hurt me over and over.

I deserved this. I deserved to be treated like this. It was because I only wasted his time believing I could heal him. But the truth is, I couldn't. I couldn't heal him. And now, his days are numbered and because of me, he will face his own demise.

After what seemed forever, the guards stopped whipping me. They left me hardly breathing. My muscles tremble in excruciating pain. It was unbearable that the pain turned to numbness.
