Chapter 40: Ouse River

Omnibus' POV

I focused on the target. I positioned my body. I knelt on one knee and held the ground, ready to take flight.

I have a 40-kilometer radius away from my target. I could see it right from where I stood. It was a large canopy tree right in my same position. I've been running since 3 o'clock using that as a finish line.

I counted from one to three. My chest was moving up and down as I was trying to keep up with my usual breathing. I removed all the doubts and other hindrances inside my head. I needed to focus. To completely empty my mind of doubts.

I started running. Fast and graceful. I ran in the forest of Prima Tierra. The wind was swift to blow against my skin. It somehow relieved my anxiety. I made sure I would break my own record for running 60 kilometers per hour. It was my new record at my previous run.

As I neared the finish line, her face showed up inside my head again. I shook my head and closed my eyes.

Not again. Not now.
