CHAPTER FOUR
'Goodbye'"I need to go mum," I told my mother, pulling free from her embrace. "If they find out that I'm the one, they will kill me. You heard what they said at the meeting." I broke up in tears.Mother shook her head as she tried to fight back the tears. She wiped the corners of my eyes and grabbed onto my hands."You can't leave, sweetie. Don't ever think that I am letting you out of my sight. I've already lost your father, the love of my life and I won't lose you too. I will speak to the council member. I will plead on your behalf. We can tell them you didn't know he was from the Midnight Pack. It's not like it's your fault that he's from that pack. Finding someone's mate and mating is supposed to be something special, not something that gets you killed. Please stay here."As much as I wanted to believe her words I couldn't risk it. The entire pack already hates me. More so, having my mother talk to the council, what if something bad happened to her? They may decide to tag her as a traitor also. Alpha Lucien wasn't known for being merciful.I would never forgive myself. So I had to do what my wolf was telling me to do. I needed to leave. Now!"I have to go mum, the sun is setting. This is the best time for me to go without being noticed." I said picking up my bags and heading towards the front door. The look on my mother's face was enough to break my heart. The pain in her expression was unbearable but all I could do was give my mother one last smile before I disappeared into the night."I love you so much, goodbye mum." I whispered as I closed the door behind me leaving the warmth of the house behind, and stepping into the freezing winter air outside. It was colder during the evening period, which I usually loved but right now I feel cold and scared. I knew I had to be subtle not to raise suspicion as I walked by other members of the pack. Some of them asked me some questions but I answered them all with the same lie; I was going to visit my mate from the neighboring pack. They seemed to not care as they continued with their daily activities.I bet no one thought I was leaving home, they all thought I was going to be back the next day, probably with my mate.It was almost midnight by the time I reached the outskirts of our pack's settlement. I knew crossing the bridge meant that I was going rogue. Something I used to fear more than anything. Rogues were known as outcast, those who had broken the law of their pack. No pack would take them in and most people had a strong hate for them. They were mostly killed on sight, only the strongest survived due to their ability to hunt. Most of them lived in caves or in abandoned cabins, away from everyone else. This was going to be my life now.I was halfway across the bridge when I felt a hand pull me back and onto the ground."Where are you going?" A male voice asked.I looked up to see Jekyll hovering over me. I tried to stand but he held me down. He was taller than my own six foot height. His long blonde hair fell loosely around his shoulders as he stared at me angrily.“Are you trying to escape Ava? So you won’t get killed? I know you’re the one the Elders are looking for,”“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I growled, pushing him away with all my strength. He let out a grunt as I pushed past him and ran to the other side of the bridge."Hey! Get back here!" he yelled. I didn't stop as I continued racing through the forest. But I wasn’t fast enough as he caught up with me pulling me by the hair.“You slutty whore, I watched you mate with him that night, near the lake. I even saw the way he looked at you. How dare you give him what belongs to me,” I was struggling against his hold on my hair as I turned to face him. My face was red with anger.“You are such a fucking creep. What kind of sick fuck stands in the dark watching two people mate. I knew there was something off about you but I never expected you to be this disgusting,” I spat out.“I bet you’re the one who told the elders, aren’t you? You’re a piece of shit?” I bite out.Jekyll laughed as his grip on my hair tightened. "Well I didn’t tell them you’re the traitor but I was guessing they did figure that out by themselves?”"So what are you going to do, huh? Kill me because I slept with someone that isn’t you. You’re not my mate Jekyll, get that into your fucking skull.” I retorted fiercely.Jekyll hated that I was right. Even though he hated it. He was obsessed with me, he wanted me, lusted after me like the crazy beast that he was but I always rejected his advances.“I don’t care if you’re my mate or not, I want you and there’s nothing that you can do about it. You are mine and you will be mine whether you like it or not,” he growled, pulling me closer to him as he began to forcefully kiss me. My stomach churn as I felt his wet lips touch my face.I struggled against him as I pushed him away. "Don't touch me," I said in an angry tone."Maybe I should show you just how much I want you." he said, grabbing my neck tightly.I gasped for breath as I tried to push him away again but he was too strong."Get off me, you bastard!" I screamed sending a direct punch to his face, Jekyll just smiled as if he was motivated even more. He leaned down, holding me still and kissed me deeply.I was resisting as much as I could but he had a firm hold on me. My wolf cried out in disgust, Lisa hated having anyone other than our mate kiss us.“Let her go!” a loud growl came from behind Jekyll, the growl had me shaking. All he could see when he turned back was a large wolf advancing towards him with a murderous intent. He released his grip from me immediately as he scampered away from me as fast as his legs would carry him. Fucking coward.I fell to the ground, gasping for breath as I looked up to see the monster standing above me. It was huge, bigger than any wolf I had seen before. It stood at least six times the size of my own wolf. Its fur was black, almost navy blue in color. Then my eyes met his and I knew it was him. The stranger at the lake…. The one who made me feel things I couldn’t explain….. The one responsible for all this chaos in my life….. My mate.Kaden's Point Of View Ava was gone.I stood at the window, the chill of the evening air slipping inside as I peered out into the darkness. She had jumped from this very frame, racing towards the heart of the Forest, but why did she have to go there? Whatever it was, it was urgent, and I needed to find her. Alone and unprotected, she was in danger, and time was slipping away.I hurried down the grand staircase, the echoes of my footsteps fading into the hushed silence of the mansion. In the living room, Kole and Krys were poised, their expressions etched with concern.“Ava's gone,” I said, my voice steady yet laced with urgency.“Don't worry brother, we will help you find her.” Krys assured me, determination glimmering in her eyes. Kole nodded, his jaw set, ready for what may come. The night air danced with danger. I could feel it, something was afoot. As we stepped outside of the mansion, the air thickened with tension. A sea of vampires surrounded us, their eyes glinting in the moon
Kaden's Point Of View Everything was moving too fast.We were forced to wait here at the safe house for a week, in hope that one of my siblings might still show up. It's been a week already and no one has shown up. And I was done waiting.Over the past week Ava's stomach had continued to grow, by the way it was going she would go into labor in less than a month's time. A normal pregnancy was supposed to take at least seven months but this was anything but normal. This was a special and delicate pregnancy. Those babies inside Ava were channeling her to grow faster. They were feeding on her, thank goddess she was a hybrid, if she wasn't she would have died by now, along with our babies. But her vampire side was sustaining her, all she needed to do was feed on blood, lots of it. Her thirst for blood seemed to grow exceedingly. This was bad.At this rate, Ava would give birth within a month and there was a high fatality rate. According to Krys, the twins could end up killing her, channel
Ava's Point Of ViewWe finally arrived in Switzerland. The city of Interlaken scenery is so lovely. I have never been anywhere apart from our pack in New Orleans, so I couldn't stop myself from gawking around like a tourist. We rode for like thirty minutes, and we arrived at Kaden's family safe house. a mansion that loomed majestically yet melancholically against the twilight sky. Despite its cracked pillars and peeling paint, there was a beauty to the place that clung stubbornly to its heritage. “Fucking hell! How long has it been? I surely didn't miss this place,” Krys muttered as we stepped inside, the echo of our footsteps swallowed by the silence. I stifled a cough, the musty scent of dust prickling my nostrils. The whole place was dusty and covered in cobwebs, years of neglect hung in the air like a shroud, a testament to the Delacourts’ absence.Kaden had spoken the truth—no one has really been here for an eternity. None of the Delacourts had arrived yet.“Hold on Ava," Kaden
Ava's Point of ViewThe dawn light filtered through the curtains as Krys paced the room, her anxiety palpable. She had insisted on an urgent meeting with Kaden and me, and an unsettling premonition gnawed at me—this had to be something about my unborn child. With each heartbeat, the weight of dread settled thickly in my chest. Krys’ purple eyes, usually so vibrant and bright, now flashed with erratic intensity of fear as she moved like a caged animal, the rhythm of her pulse matching her frenetic energy.“Come on, Krystabelle. What’s so urgent that it couldn't wait? You’re acting like you’ve just witnessed the end of the world,” Kaden remarked, his tone both teasing and concerned. But Krys didn’t pause or respond; she remained lost in her turmoil.I stepped forward and placed a steadying hand on her shoulder, forcing her to stop and meet my gaze. “Krys, what’s wrong? Everything is fine,” I murmured, my voice a tether to calmness.“Everything is anything but fine, Ava” she replied, her
Ava's Point Of View I turned for the doors instantly, and left the hall, walking into the cool refreshing midnight air. I moved into the woods, stripping naked and shifting into my wolf. I grabbed my dress with my sharp canines and darted into the woods, heading for Kaden and my secret place. I reached the magical scenery, there was a beautiful lake flowing peacefully and beautiful flowers in bloom all around. This was just the place I needed to get my mind off things.I shifted back to my human form, tossing my dress to the side of the lake. My lips stretched into a smile, loving the serenity of this special place and the quiet peace it gave. I moved closer to the lake, my eyes glazing over the tall shadow that stretched up like arrows into the sky.The fresh water looked like a beautiful puddle of blue ink, taking the reflection of the full moon hanging up in the sky. The starry night alone calmed my soul.I took a few tentative steps into the glorious luster of the water until it
Ava's Point Of View “What does it say Krys?” I ask Krys, with both my hands covering my face. I was nervous, beyond nervous –I was agitated.I don't think I have ever been more nerve wrecked like I was right now. Whatever the news Krys gives to me would determine a great change in my life forever. This was going to be an important moment in my existence. After my monthly visitor has yet to appear, I became worried that I might be pregnant. That was impossible right? I am a vampire, vampires can't give birth, but if it was possible for my mother maybe it was for me too. I mean think about it, my mother was a special breed of vampire, a Fecundi, with the special power to procreate, maybe I got some of her genes and let's not throw out the window that I am still a werewolf, which means I could defy nature and the vampire anatomy.I mean I haven't gotten any of the early symptoms of pregnancy but I would be lying if I said I didn't feel different these past few weeks. Krys was the only p
