(Kaeleigh’s POV)
I stood outside Zoey’s room, willing myself to knock. I was nervous. I was never good at talking to people, but eventually I took a deep breath and knocked. And nothing. Oh! I turned to walk back to my room when I heard an excited squeal.
“Kaeleigh!” Zoey had just walked round the corner with three other beautiful women. “You came. I wasn’t sure if you would.” She ran up and pulled me into a hug.
“Girls, this is Kaeleigh,” she said excitedly as she swiped her card and dragged me into her room. I could see the other women exchange looks as they followed us in. Her room was, well, pink, like lots of pink, everywhere!
Zoey introduced me to the three women. The petite blonde who looked like sh
(Kaeleigh’s POV)I was awed by all the people heading towards the main pack house. Families with children running around and groups of friends all laughing and smiling. There really was a buzz of excitement in the air. We walked up the stairs into the main entrance and Zoey took hold of my hand and started pulling me towards the double doors at the back, which were already open. We walked into the grand hall and I gasped in amazement. It was beautiful. The high ceilings were glass and there were fairy lights everywhere, all mixed in with white roses. The hall was huge, and the opposite wall was completely made of glass and glass doors, all of which were open, and the fairy lights continued onto a grand patio where there were tables and chairs. All the tables had candle lanterns on them and there were people milling about. Zoey grinned at me.“What?” I asked.“Nothing, you just look mesmerised. W
(Kaeleigh’s POV) I made my way off the stage as soon as it was considered polite to do so. I wanted to get away from all the staring. I made it halfway across the dance floor when I heard a familiar voice. “Kaeleigh.” I looked back to see Chase following me. I sighed and stopped and waited for him. “You did amazing,” he said once he had reached me. I smiled in response to be polite but felt conscious that people were watching us. “Thank you,” I said quietly, and he went to reach out to me, but I stepped back and he dropped his hand. “I wanted to ask if I could see you later,” he said and rubbed his hand on neck, “Maybe tomorrow?” I hesitated briefly but remembered that I said I would give him a chance, so I smiled and nodded. “Okay,” I said and then looked around. “Are you not staying at the party?” I as
(Kaeleigh’s POV)Adam and I walked slowly back towards Opal House in silence. The doors were locked when we got there, so I pulled my card from my purse and swiped it, giving me access. Adam opened the door, and I walked in with him following me.Once we got to my room, I turned and smiled.“Thank you,” I said. “I appreciate you walking me.” He grinned and a glint of something flashed in his eyes.“Oh, you aren’t getting rid of me that easily, beautiful.” He lifted his hand to gently stroke my face, although it hovered slightly, not completely closing the distance. “I want to check your wounds,” he said, dropping his hand again. I hesitated a second before nodding my head. He was instructed to bring me home, so it made sense that he was being thorough. I unlocked and opened the door and held it open for him. He walked past me and I switc
(Unknown POV)I was standing in the shadows at the back of the great hall. I hated these events; I hated these people, and most of all, I hated this pack. In the four years since I had been assigned to the Dark Moon pack, my hatred had only grown stronger. They acted all high and mighty with the fake Alpha King sitting on his throne of lies every day.But I had to push aside my hatred. I had to ensure I had the trust of the pack. I had a mission, a duty. I was here to watch. Watch for weaknesses in the defences, and more importantly, watch to make sure the curse runs its course. I had to make sure that that pigheaded Alpha heir Chase didn’t complete the mate bond. They had got close once. He had a girlfriend, not his fated mate, but that didn’t matter, not to him. No, he was very happy to take a chosen mate, without thinking she could be someone else’s fated mate, the selfish prick. We had taken
(Kaeleigh’s POV)I was just drying my hair after my shower the next morning when there was a knock at my door. For a second I was hopeful that it was Chase, or even Adam, so I was a little disappointed when I opened the door to a bright and happy Zoey. She quirked her eyebrow at me.“Not who you were expecting?” she asked with a giggle. I blushed and shook my head.“No, shit sorry, I didn’t mean-” I blustered.“Whoa girl!” she interrupted, laughing. “Calm down, I take no offence.” I stuck out my tongue, and she laughed again. “So, want company for your first breakfast?”“Oh yes, please!” I breathed a sigh of relief. I had been planning on skipping, despite my tummy growling for sustenance, because the idea of going into the house dining room on my own was terrifying. I grabbed my key card and slipped it in th
(Kaeleigh POV)But the impact never came. There was a rush and a loud crash and I opened my eyes and a bigger wolf, also blond but more of a honey blond, had a struggling Adelaide wolf by the throat. This all happened in less than a second, but I could have sworn years went by.“Submit now, Adelaide, or I will authorise him to put you down permanently,” the Alpha commanded in his powerful voice. That’s when I noticed that the Beta no longer stood beside him. I looked at the two wolves and realised where the second wolf had come from, silently reminding myself to buy the Beta a drink or something to thank him for his quick reflexes. The smaller Adelaide wolf still struggled against his hold, her eyes on me and her teeth bared.“I said SUBMIT AND SHIFT NOW!” the Alpha boomed again.I was frozen in my place, Adelaide’s eyes were still on me. I watched as they
(Kaeleigh’s POV)As I left the main pack house, still smiling, I noticed Jensen was standing at the bottom of the stairs talking to a group of people. He saw me and grinned and said goodbye to the group before jogging over to me.“Hey Kae!” He had a twinkle in his eyes that I couldn’t help but smile at.“Hey Jensen, thanks for…” I hesitated. “... Well, you know, in there.” I waved to the pack house behind me. He scowled briefly.“Well, I kinda feel like it was my fault.” He shifted in his spot, running his hand through his blond hair. “I honestly have no idea what got into Adelaide. And just for the record, we weren’t dating,” he added seriously. “You can ask anyo
(Jensen’s POV)Shit, I was late for dinner. I checked the time on my phone, 7:08pm, before slipping it back into the pocket of my dark grey jeans.Training had been extra intense today. Commander Stanton had been in a bad mood after finding out about the Fischers. He’d cornered me afterwards to find out if the punishment for Brandt had been justified. We rarely use the chains. It’s a cruel punishment, and I know that Alpha Daniel doesn’t come to that punishment lightly. It leaves the punished in the cold dark dungeon, shackled with silver and wolfsbane coated chains. They are unable to shift, to mind link, to heal or to even communicate with their own wolf. They are essentially human.I told Stanton that after what Brandt did to Kaeleigh; he was lucky to still be breathing, and th

(Kaeleigh’s POV)*** Two Weeks Later ***I stood on the stage at the former Dark Moon and now Dark Circle pack territory and looked out across the crowd. I felt warmth rush through me as Chase squeezed my hand beside me as we waited for the crowd to quiet down. The crowd was a mix of werewolves, witches and hybrids, although the latter were massively outnumbered by the first two. The last two weeks had been crazy busy as we worked to create some sort of order in everything. The battle had ended in our favour, but we still had losses. I had been upset to learn from Jensen that Zack’s mate had been expecting and watching as she received the news that she had already felt was heart wrenching. I had been told that the death of her mate had sent her into shock. This wasn’t uncommon, as the separat
(Kaeleigh’s POV)I clung to Adam as I screamed for help. There was blood everywhere, and his eyes were fluttering. Dayna was crying.“Why can’t I do anything?” she screamed. “Adam I mean it, don’t you dare die on me, not when I have just told you I love you.” I looked up at her in shock and she looked at me, tears streaming.“Kaeleigh, tell him he can’t die. We agreed. We are choosing each other as mates. He has to live.” She shook Adam as his eyes closed. “Kaeleigh, order him, please,” I shook my head and looked down at Adam in my arms.“Why did you do something as stupid as that?” I cried at him and his eyelids fluttered open again. He looked up and smiled.
(Asher’s POV)“Well, look what we have here,” I snarled as I walked into the clearing. “If it isn’t my not so loyal Beta.” I had seen Cade just as he had snapped the neck of that imbecile Fischer. As I got closer, I saw him holding his mate. I watched them as he comforted her. He was so gentle and caring. Before her, Cade had been a different sort. He had always been ready for a good time with the supply of Omegas that we kept around and I could pinpoint to the day that he had met his mate. Everything changed. He stopped drinking as much, stopped going out. He disappeared on weekends on private business.I got why. A fated mate is an awful weapon in the wrong hands and my father had taken a dislike to Cade pretty much after his own father had left the pack. If my father had known that Cade had found his mate, he would h
(Zoey’s POV)“I gotta go,” I hissed, watching the blond streaks as they flashed through the woods. “I got a score to settle.” I started walking towards the last place that I saw the bleached blond trash. I could feel Cade’s presence behind me. I wasn’t sure whether he was there to protect me or to protect her at this point.I woke up crying almost every night after reoccurring dreams about what she did. Dreams that repeated over me held in silver chains and her smirking face as she… I shuddered at the thought of it. I had never been so violated before in my life. I still struggled with intimacy with Cade. The irony of the fact that for the first time in almost five years I could be open and not hide my love for my mate and yet I couldn’t stand to be touched by him. Cade had tried to talk to me about w
(Jensen’s POV)“My Hero,” Tatum grinned at me, and I couldn’t help but grin back.“Yeah, well, let’s not need that anymore,” I said as I helped her to a sitting position.“What about Jeremy?” Tatum asked and Elaina called over from where she was sitting next to the unconscious wolf.“He’s gonna be fine. It’ll take some healing, but werewolves do that quickly.” I looked at Tatum, who looked relieved.“Where’s Luke?” Tatum asked, looking around.“Your brother is as silly as you are,” the other witch, who I was unfamiliar with, said, glaring at the entrance to the n
(Tatum’s POV)I rushed into the entrance of the nook where I could see the evidence of magic flying around everywhere. I knew Jade and Luke were close behind. I surveyed the area and saw Chase on the ground next to a big black wolf and a woman with jet black hair. The woman was tending to the wolf as he laid on the floor, panting. At the other end of the nook I could see the redhead witch Isabella and my mum. There was a redheaded man standing between me and them and from the magic he was using, I could tell he was a sorcerer. I glanced at Luke, who nodded and he cast a slow down spell. While he did that, I felt for my new-found powers and sent out energy, or whatever it was, to the surrounding trees asking them for help. I felt the connection and began to bend the trees to my will.Jade appeared as well as Jeremy and I grinned. The sorcerer, on the
(Kaeleigh’s POV)“ATTACK!”I watched as thousands of bodies appeared from the surrounding area, some in human form, some in wolf. They reached the outer edges of the town in a matter of seconds, so they must have been in the immediate area and the woods surrounding. I drew my eyes back to Asher who was watching me with an intense look. He smirked as his eyes found mine and then pulled his shirt to reveal the mark again.I rolled my eyes before closing them and blocking everything and everyone around me out. I envisioned my army of wolves, the symbol of my Alpha power and the reason I would never bow to anyone. I pulled the energy from that power and pulled it in tight. The tension alone was enough to make me feel like I was going to burst. I opened my eyes, knowing that right now they shone g
(Kaeleigh’s POV)Three hours later, a now mobile and newly sealed Cade was sitting on the sofa in the living room with Zoey on his knee and I was inspecting Tatum’s wrist. She and Jensen had emerged from his room a few minutes before and Tatum was jumping around excitedly. They had completed the bond last night and through the night Tatum had completed the transition into a Hybrid, much in the same way as Chase had with me. I looked at the pattern that had formed on her wrist and saw it was an extension of Jensen’s pattern. I smiled. I still didn’t know how everything worked, but I was loving finding out.“Oh, and watch,” Tatum said, suddenly very excited. She turned and looked around and then focused on a dying houseplant that a scowling Luke was standing by. She walked over and placed her hand on the soil and, slowly
