(Jensen’s POV)
I looked down at my phone and a shiver of excitement went through me as I saw the name on the phone. I turned and faced Chase and grinned.
“It’s Isabella!” I said, and he smiled weakly. I accepted the call.
“Hey babe,” I answered “Long time no hear.” and she chuckled that soft velvet chuckle that sent shivers down my spine.
“Hello Jensen, miss me?” she asked, and I smiled.
“Oh, you know it,” I said, and she chuckled again. “I have been trying to get a hold of you. Did you get my messages?” I asked.
“Yeah, Jensen,” she said, “I got all of them. I’ve
(Kaeleigh’s POV)“Close your eyes,” he whispered in my ear as his fingers danced ever so lightly on my torso. He moved to look down at my body as he slowly moved near the top of my thigh. He looked back up at me, mischief playing in his blue eyes.“Come on baby,” Asher sighed. “You know you can trust me.” I felt like it was getting harder to breathe, like the air was thinner all of a sudden. I took a deep breath that didn’t seem to fill my lungs and closed my eyes.“Good girl,” Asher purred against my neck and the vibrations of it woke a fire in my lower region and my heavy breathing became pants. Asher captured my nipple in his mouth and bit down lightly, and I gasped. He chuckled as I felt his hand slip between my legs, pushing them open and giving him ac
(Kaeleigh’s POV)I got out of the shower once I finally cooled down. I quickly dried myself and dressed before heading into the bedroom. Cade was up and looking troubled.“Hey” I said and startled him. “What’s wrong?”“Nothing, love,” he said and smiled, but I could tell there was something wrong.“Cade?” he looked conflicted.“I’m getting a lot of fear from Zee at the moment,” he finally said. “There’s no pain, but there is fear. Kaeleigh, I feel so helpless. What kind of mate am I if I can’t even protect her from whatever is scaring her?” I wanted to help him so much. Not just because he was my friend, but it wa
**** Trigger Warning **** The following chapter contains content of a distressing nature. Details of sexual and physical assault are included in the chapter.(Kaeleigh’s POV)Malcolm stood just inside the room, far enough away from the door for it to close, but close enough that there was no getting past him. I knew he was watching me as I assessed the room and saw his smirk widen. Even from where I was sitting, I could see his beast just behind his eyes. Not his wolf, his beast. There was a difference. I just couldn’t say what. He stepped a little closer into the room and everything in his movement screamed predator. His eyes flicked to Dayna, who shrunk back into her seat as if the very fabric we sat on could swallow her away.“Miss Kaeleigh,” Malcolm sneered. “It has been a whi
(Kaeleigh’s POV)I shot up in bed as I woke up to angry whispers. That was the first thing I noticed. The second thing was that I wasn’t in my bed. From the scent of the covers, I was in Asher’s bed. The third thing was that I was thankfully fully dressed, although my clothes were not what I was wearing.“I dressed you,” I jumped as I heard Dayna’s voice. I turned and saw that she was laid on top of the bed next to me. “I also had your other clothes put in the incinerator,” she said as if that was normal, like she had remembered to buy milk or something. But when I did think about it, the idea of wearing those clothes again made me want to scratch my own skin off.“Thank you,” I said to her, and she smiled.
(Cade’s POV)“I gave you one fucking job and you couldn’t even do that.” Asher pointed his finger at me.“Are you kidding me?” I hissed back, “It wasn’t just my mate, it’s Kaeleigh’s best friend that we went after.” I looked over at the bed as I saw movement. “Which we wouldn’t have to have done if it wasn’t for you bloody kidnapping her in the first place.”“I told you she was safe,” Asher said. “You used to trust me.”“I used to have hope for you, you maniacal bastard,” I glared at my former best friend. “But you squashed that some time ago.” I sat in the chair, “and don’t fucking tell me you are keeping my ma
(Jensen’s POV)“No! It is not happening,” I looked at my dad, the guy who is always cool under pressure. As he paced the Alpha quarters’ living room. He had been like this for the last hour, ever since we had told him and my mum the plan.“Dad,” I called, trying to get his attention.“I forbid it, as your father I forbid you to do this,” he carried on pacing, ignoring me. I laughed“Dad, I’m twenty-nine years old. I think I’m old enough to make my own choices.”“Not when they are likely to get you killed. You’re not,” he snapped back. I looked at my mum, who was just sitting quietly, watching him as he paced.
(Jensen’s POV)I woke up early, while the dawn was still breaking through the night. I felt so restless that I couldn’t keep still. I knew nobody would be awake yet, so I decided to head out for a run. I headed out of the pack house and into the woods behind. I stripped out of my shorts and shifted. The shift came so easily and I could already feel Kylo, my wolf, itching to get out. It was less than a minute and I was feeling the ground under my blond paws. I shook out my fur and enjoyed the feel of the wind as it floated through.Kylo was waiting patiently to take over, and I owed it to him. I allowed my consciousness to fade into the background while Kylo came forward. He growled at nothing, and I laughed from the back of our shared vessel.“What are you doing, dumb dog?” I called fro
(Kaeleigh’s POV)I turned over on the sofa for what felt like the millionth time, still trying to find a comfortable position. I had no idea how Cade had managed to comfortably sleep on this thing. I had swapped with him since we got Zoey back, so that they had the bed and I took the sofa. And with Dayna and Adam in Dayna’s room, my room was pretty full. It didn’t seem so bad the last couple of nights, but I had been on edge since yesterday afternoon. I felt like there was a part of myself suddenly missing and I couldn’t settle at all.“You know the bed is so much more comfortable.” I sat up at the voice behind me and saw Asher was leaning against the door.“Geez,” I snapped, “Stalkery much,” and he chuckled. I rolled my eyes. “I thought it would be e

(Kaeleigh’s POV)*** Two Weeks Later ***I stood on the stage at the former Dark Moon and now Dark Circle pack territory and looked out across the crowd. I felt warmth rush through me as Chase squeezed my hand beside me as we waited for the crowd to quiet down. The crowd was a mix of werewolves, witches and hybrids, although the latter were massively outnumbered by the first two. The last two weeks had been crazy busy as we worked to create some sort of order in everything. The battle had ended in our favour, but we still had losses. I had been upset to learn from Jensen that Zack’s mate had been expecting and watching as she received the news that she had already felt was heart wrenching. I had been told that the death of her mate had sent her into shock. This wasn’t uncommon, as the separat
(Kaeleigh’s POV)I clung to Adam as I screamed for help. There was blood everywhere, and his eyes were fluttering. Dayna was crying.“Why can’t I do anything?” she screamed. “Adam I mean it, don’t you dare die on me, not when I have just told you I love you.” I looked up at her in shock and she looked at me, tears streaming.“Kaeleigh, tell him he can’t die. We agreed. We are choosing each other as mates. He has to live.” She shook Adam as his eyes closed. “Kaeleigh, order him, please,” I shook my head and looked down at Adam in my arms.“Why did you do something as stupid as that?” I cried at him and his eyelids fluttered open again. He looked up and smiled.
(Asher’s POV)“Well, look what we have here,” I snarled as I walked into the clearing. “If it isn’t my not so loyal Beta.” I had seen Cade just as he had snapped the neck of that imbecile Fischer. As I got closer, I saw him holding his mate. I watched them as he comforted her. He was so gentle and caring. Before her, Cade had been a different sort. He had always been ready for a good time with the supply of Omegas that we kept around and I could pinpoint to the day that he had met his mate. Everything changed. He stopped drinking as much, stopped going out. He disappeared on weekends on private business.I got why. A fated mate is an awful weapon in the wrong hands and my father had taken a dislike to Cade pretty much after his own father had left the pack. If my father had known that Cade had found his mate, he would h
(Zoey’s POV)“I gotta go,” I hissed, watching the blond streaks as they flashed through the woods. “I got a score to settle.” I started walking towards the last place that I saw the bleached blond trash. I could feel Cade’s presence behind me. I wasn’t sure whether he was there to protect me or to protect her at this point.I woke up crying almost every night after reoccurring dreams about what she did. Dreams that repeated over me held in silver chains and her smirking face as she… I shuddered at the thought of it. I had never been so violated before in my life. I still struggled with intimacy with Cade. The irony of the fact that for the first time in almost five years I could be open and not hide my love for my mate and yet I couldn’t stand to be touched by him. Cade had tried to talk to me about w
(Jensen’s POV)“My Hero,” Tatum grinned at me, and I couldn’t help but grin back.“Yeah, well, let’s not need that anymore,” I said as I helped her to a sitting position.“What about Jeremy?” Tatum asked and Elaina called over from where she was sitting next to the unconscious wolf.“He’s gonna be fine. It’ll take some healing, but werewolves do that quickly.” I looked at Tatum, who looked relieved.“Where’s Luke?” Tatum asked, looking around.“Your brother is as silly as you are,” the other witch, who I was unfamiliar with, said, glaring at the entrance to the n
(Tatum’s POV)I rushed into the entrance of the nook where I could see the evidence of magic flying around everywhere. I knew Jade and Luke were close behind. I surveyed the area and saw Chase on the ground next to a big black wolf and a woman with jet black hair. The woman was tending to the wolf as he laid on the floor, panting. At the other end of the nook I could see the redhead witch Isabella and my mum. There was a redheaded man standing between me and them and from the magic he was using, I could tell he was a sorcerer. I glanced at Luke, who nodded and he cast a slow down spell. While he did that, I felt for my new-found powers and sent out energy, or whatever it was, to the surrounding trees asking them for help. I felt the connection and began to bend the trees to my will.Jade appeared as well as Jeremy and I grinned. The sorcerer, on the
(Kaeleigh’s POV)“ATTACK!”I watched as thousands of bodies appeared from the surrounding area, some in human form, some in wolf. They reached the outer edges of the town in a matter of seconds, so they must have been in the immediate area and the woods surrounding. I drew my eyes back to Asher who was watching me with an intense look. He smirked as his eyes found mine and then pulled his shirt to reveal the mark again.I rolled my eyes before closing them and blocking everything and everyone around me out. I envisioned my army of wolves, the symbol of my Alpha power and the reason I would never bow to anyone. I pulled the energy from that power and pulled it in tight. The tension alone was enough to make me feel like I was going to burst. I opened my eyes, knowing that right now they shone g
(Kaeleigh’s POV)Three hours later, a now mobile and newly sealed Cade was sitting on the sofa in the living room with Zoey on his knee and I was inspecting Tatum’s wrist. She and Jensen had emerged from his room a few minutes before and Tatum was jumping around excitedly. They had completed the bond last night and through the night Tatum had completed the transition into a Hybrid, much in the same way as Chase had with me. I looked at the pattern that had formed on her wrist and saw it was an extension of Jensen’s pattern. I smiled. I still didn’t know how everything worked, but I was loving finding out.“Oh, and watch,” Tatum said, suddenly very excited. She turned and looked around and then focused on a dying houseplant that a scowling Luke was standing by. She walked over and placed her hand on the soil and, slowly
