(Jensen’s POV)
“No! It is not happening,” I looked at my dad, the guy who is always cool under pressure. As he paced the Alpha quarters’ living room. He had been like this for the last hour, ever since we had told him and my mum the plan.
“Dad,” I called, trying to get his attention.
“I forbid it, as your father I forbid you to do this,” he carried on pacing, ignoring me. I laughed
“Dad, I’m twenty-nine years old. I think I’m old enough to make my own choices.”
“Not when they are likely to get you killed. You’re not,” he snapped back. I looked at my mum, who was just sitting quietly, watching him as he paced.
(Jensen’s POV)I woke up early, while the dawn was still breaking through the night. I felt so restless that I couldn’t keep still. I knew nobody would be awake yet, so I decided to head out for a run. I headed out of the pack house and into the woods behind. I stripped out of my shorts and shifted. The shift came so easily and I could already feel Kylo, my wolf, itching to get out. It was less than a minute and I was feeling the ground under my blond paws. I shook out my fur and enjoyed the feel of the wind as it floated through.Kylo was waiting patiently to take over, and I owed it to him. I allowed my consciousness to fade into the background while Kylo came forward. He growled at nothing, and I laughed from the back of our shared vessel.“What are you doing, dumb dog?” I called fro
(Kaeleigh’s POV)I turned over on the sofa for what felt like the millionth time, still trying to find a comfortable position. I had no idea how Cade had managed to comfortably sleep on this thing. I had swapped with him since we got Zoey back, so that they had the bed and I took the sofa. And with Dayna and Adam in Dayna’s room, my room was pretty full. It didn’t seem so bad the last couple of nights, but I had been on edge since yesterday afternoon. I felt like there was a part of myself suddenly missing and I couldn’t settle at all.“You know the bed is so much more comfortable.” I sat up at the voice behind me and saw Asher was leaning against the door.“Geez,” I snapped, “Stalkery much,” and he chuckled. I rolled my eyes. “I thought it would be e
(Asher’s POV)I paced my room as the anger burned inside me. How dare they? How dare she? I could feel everything slipping away. Everything that I had spent my whole fucking life to build, and it was collapsing. My two highest ranking officials, two people who were once my best friends, who were my back up against the shit I dealt with from my bastard of a father. And here they were, standing against me, for her!I grabbed a chair and threw it across the room with a roar! It smashed into the wall by my bed and landed in a mess of broken wood and fabric on the floor. What had this woman done to me? I knew she was half witch, but here she was bespelling my pack, and taking my power. Her place is to be by my side, not me by hers. She may be the queen, but I will be the king. I have worked towards this destiny my whole life and I will not allow her to take th
(Jensen’s POV)I looked around the deserted Smokey’s and lifted my warm bottle of beer and took a drink.“It’s quiet tonight,” I remarked and grinned at the chuckles. I was sitting at the darkened bar with Kierra, Ivy, Meagan, and Theo. We had spent the day getting everyone and all the supplies moved over to the Scarlet Circle territory. Even for forty odd people, there was still a lot to do, and today was the last day. Tomorrow was Chase’s birthday. It felt like we had been waiting for this day our whole life. The last ten years, Chase had been consumed with breaking this curse, and I really thought we would do it. Especially with Kaeleigh making an appearance in the eleventh hour. It felt like everything would work out into a nice, neat, happy ending. But this wasn’t the m
(Kaeleigh’s POV)I loved being back in Dark Moon; it felt like home that Crimson Shadow never did. I chuckled to myself. If you had told me a year ago that I would feel at home in a pack, I would have laughed in your face, and then ran away.I sat in the park in front of the main pack house and marvelled at how quiet everything was. A little too quiet, actually. I looked around, confused. Why were there no lights? I knew it was night time but there was always someone about. Come to think of it, I hadn’t seen anyone since I arrived at…When did I arrive? Why am I here? I tried to search my memories. I couldn’t remember leaving Crimson Shadow. I decided to go and find someone and headed for the pack house. I got to the edge of the park and couldn’t go any further. It wasn’t like th
(Kaeleigh’s POV)I wrapped my arms around Asher’s neck, pulling myself as close to him as I possibly could. And yet it wasn’t close enough. I wanted to feel him all over me, and inside me. I wanted him to consume me completely. His lips pressed against mine so much that I swore they would be bruised, and his hands roamed my body freely. One hand grabbed my ass and squeezed hard. I gasped against his mouth and his tongue darted into my mouth to chase my tongue. I moaned again and his grip on me tightened. He hooked his hands under my thighs and lifted me. I wrapped my legs around his waist and felt his hard cock brush against my core through my clothes, and I moaned again and rubbed against him.Asher growled and the guttural feel of it sent electricity down to my core. Asher carried me
(Kaeleigh’s POV)I screamed, and the pain ripped through me like fire. I fell to the ground and dug my hands into the grass and soil. I tried to breathe, but each intake felt like acid. When I thought I couldn’t take anymore, the pain stopped. As if a switch had been flicked. The last remains of an ache were the only indication that I had just lived through hellfire.I pulled myself up to survey my surroundings. I was back on the clifftop and standing in front of me was my beautiful hybrid.“Diana?” I asked, not quite sure what was happening. She smiled down at me and held out her hand. I placed mine in hers and I felt the sparks of something, like the mate bond, but different.“Thank you for trusting me, Kaeleigh,” she said, and I rea
(Kaeleigh’s POV)I crashed to the floor as Asher screamed in pain. I was gasping for breath as Zoey ran up and landed a kick on Asher’s face, sending him falling backwards, before she reached out for me to pull me to my feet.“That’s for kidnapping me, you bitch,” she spat at him as he rolled in pain. I looked to the door and Adam was holding Dayna, who was gripping his shirt in her own pain. Cade stood by the door, keeping a watch out.“We have to move,” Cade called, and I nodded. A roar erupted from behind us, and I turned in time to see Asher lunge at me. I barely felt it as something went flying past me and smashed into Asher and into the wall. Zoey screamed as Cade repeatedly punched Asher in the face. He turned briefly,

(Kaeleigh’s POV)*** Two Weeks Later ***I stood on the stage at the former Dark Moon and now Dark Circle pack territory and looked out across the crowd. I felt warmth rush through me as Chase squeezed my hand beside me as we waited for the crowd to quiet down. The crowd was a mix of werewolves, witches and hybrids, although the latter were massively outnumbered by the first two. The last two weeks had been crazy busy as we worked to create some sort of order in everything. The battle had ended in our favour, but we still had losses. I had been upset to learn from Jensen that Zack’s mate had been expecting and watching as she received the news that she had already felt was heart wrenching. I had been told that the death of her mate had sent her into shock. This wasn’t uncommon, as the separat
(Kaeleigh’s POV)I clung to Adam as I screamed for help. There was blood everywhere, and his eyes were fluttering. Dayna was crying.“Why can’t I do anything?” she screamed. “Adam I mean it, don’t you dare die on me, not when I have just told you I love you.” I looked up at her in shock and she looked at me, tears streaming.“Kaeleigh, tell him he can’t die. We agreed. We are choosing each other as mates. He has to live.” She shook Adam as his eyes closed. “Kaeleigh, order him, please,” I shook my head and looked down at Adam in my arms.“Why did you do something as stupid as that?” I cried at him and his eyelids fluttered open again. He looked up and smiled.
(Asher’s POV)“Well, look what we have here,” I snarled as I walked into the clearing. “If it isn’t my not so loyal Beta.” I had seen Cade just as he had snapped the neck of that imbecile Fischer. As I got closer, I saw him holding his mate. I watched them as he comforted her. He was so gentle and caring. Before her, Cade had been a different sort. He had always been ready for a good time with the supply of Omegas that we kept around and I could pinpoint to the day that he had met his mate. Everything changed. He stopped drinking as much, stopped going out. He disappeared on weekends on private business.I got why. A fated mate is an awful weapon in the wrong hands and my father had taken a dislike to Cade pretty much after his own father had left the pack. If my father had known that Cade had found his mate, he would h
(Zoey’s POV)“I gotta go,” I hissed, watching the blond streaks as they flashed through the woods. “I got a score to settle.” I started walking towards the last place that I saw the bleached blond trash. I could feel Cade’s presence behind me. I wasn’t sure whether he was there to protect me or to protect her at this point.I woke up crying almost every night after reoccurring dreams about what she did. Dreams that repeated over me held in silver chains and her smirking face as she… I shuddered at the thought of it. I had never been so violated before in my life. I still struggled with intimacy with Cade. The irony of the fact that for the first time in almost five years I could be open and not hide my love for my mate and yet I couldn’t stand to be touched by him. Cade had tried to talk to me about w
(Jensen’s POV)“My Hero,” Tatum grinned at me, and I couldn’t help but grin back.“Yeah, well, let’s not need that anymore,” I said as I helped her to a sitting position.“What about Jeremy?” Tatum asked and Elaina called over from where she was sitting next to the unconscious wolf.“He’s gonna be fine. It’ll take some healing, but werewolves do that quickly.” I looked at Tatum, who looked relieved.“Where’s Luke?” Tatum asked, looking around.“Your brother is as silly as you are,” the other witch, who I was unfamiliar with, said, glaring at the entrance to the n
(Tatum’s POV)I rushed into the entrance of the nook where I could see the evidence of magic flying around everywhere. I knew Jade and Luke were close behind. I surveyed the area and saw Chase on the ground next to a big black wolf and a woman with jet black hair. The woman was tending to the wolf as he laid on the floor, panting. At the other end of the nook I could see the redhead witch Isabella and my mum. There was a redheaded man standing between me and them and from the magic he was using, I could tell he was a sorcerer. I glanced at Luke, who nodded and he cast a slow down spell. While he did that, I felt for my new-found powers and sent out energy, or whatever it was, to the surrounding trees asking them for help. I felt the connection and began to bend the trees to my will.Jade appeared as well as Jeremy and I grinned. The sorcerer, on the
(Kaeleigh’s POV)“ATTACK!”I watched as thousands of bodies appeared from the surrounding area, some in human form, some in wolf. They reached the outer edges of the town in a matter of seconds, so they must have been in the immediate area and the woods surrounding. I drew my eyes back to Asher who was watching me with an intense look. He smirked as his eyes found mine and then pulled his shirt to reveal the mark again.I rolled my eyes before closing them and blocking everything and everyone around me out. I envisioned my army of wolves, the symbol of my Alpha power and the reason I would never bow to anyone. I pulled the energy from that power and pulled it in tight. The tension alone was enough to make me feel like I was going to burst. I opened my eyes, knowing that right now they shone g
(Kaeleigh’s POV)Three hours later, a now mobile and newly sealed Cade was sitting on the sofa in the living room with Zoey on his knee and I was inspecting Tatum’s wrist. She and Jensen had emerged from his room a few minutes before and Tatum was jumping around excitedly. They had completed the bond last night and through the night Tatum had completed the transition into a Hybrid, much in the same way as Chase had with me. I looked at the pattern that had formed on her wrist and saw it was an extension of Jensen’s pattern. I smiled. I still didn’t know how everything worked, but I was loving finding out.“Oh, and watch,” Tatum said, suddenly very excited. She turned and looked around and then focused on a dying houseplant that a scowling Luke was standing by. She walked over and placed her hand on the soil and, slowly
