Emma's Pov

It had been three months since that fateful day when Gregory had stormed out of the pack hospital, leaving behind an air so thick with tension, I could barely breathe.

Three long months, and I was still reeling from the weight of his absence. He never slept in our room anymore, and I rarely saw him.

The silence was deafening, and it wasn’t just the silence in the room—but in my heart too.

I was sitting in the pack house's living room with Melinda, trying to keep my mind occupied.

Melinda was chatting away, recounting her wild childhood adventures, trying to cheer me up.

She was always good at that—making me laugh even when I didn’t feel like it.

“So there I was, standing in the middle of the stream, fully convinced I could catch a fish with my bare hands,” Melinda said, grinning ear to ear. “Of course, I slipped on the rocks and fell flat on my back, soaking wet, screaming like a banshee. The fish probably thought I was one of them after that!”
