Chapter 5: His contract

Mia’s POV

Everyone looked at him in shock.

“What do you have to say to her?” Veronica shouted angrily, “She is a sneaky little slut! You must have been fooled by her last night—”

“Silence.” Draven said coldly.

Veronica shut her mouth abruptly, looking as if she just got slapped.

My father quickly stood up, bowing and smiling apologetically at Draven, “The thing is…Mia lost her mother when she was little, so she lacks proper education. I am afraid that she might offend you…”

Draven frowned impatiently. The soldier behind him snapped, “The Alpha has already asked you to leave.”

My father’s family shuddered. No one dared to argue, and they hurriedly left. Veronica shot me a venomous glare before leaving.

The door closed. And Draven said to me with a nod:

“Sit.”

I glanced at him and cautiously moved toward a nearby chair. But he clicked his tongue impatiently and pulled me onto his lap.

Burying his head into my shoulder, he took a deep breath, letting out a satisfied sigh.

I blushed, sneaking a glance at the soldiers.

Each of them stood straight, staring ahead, as if they hadn’t heard their Alpha’s groan.

“Are you sure your wolf isn’t strong?” he asked hoarsely.

“Yes, she almost never wakes up, nor speaks to me… Why?”

“My wolf likes your scent. And he seems to sense a certain… dark and strong power in you,” he said thoughtfully.

I almost laughed.

Dark and strong? Power?

No one had ever said those about me.

“What’s your relationship with the Alpha here?” he demanded.

“Alpha Carl is my father. My mother was a… prostitute.” I whispered the word, “…She left after giving birth to me.”

Saying those made me feel even smaller in front of him.

But he didn’t seem to care. With one arm around my waist, he extended a hand to a soldier.

“The contract.” He ordered.

The soldier pulled out a piece of paper and placed it on the table in front of me.

“I wanted to give it to you this morning. But after I am back from a meeting, you were gone already.” he said. “It saved me the trouble of finding you when I met you here. Look at the contract now.”

A sudden joy rose in my heart.

So he didn’t want to avoid me on purpose, he didn’t despise me, he just went to a meeting.

But then I realized something that made me feel more ashamed—

“…I can’t read.” I stammered.

Luna Helena hated me to the gut. She would never let me go to school.

He raised an eyebrow but didn’t mock me.

“Doesn’t matter. The contract is only about one thing,” he said, staring at me. “I want you.”

I looked at him blankly, “Me?”

“Yes, you.” He nodded, “Sign this contract and come back to the Full Moon Pack with me. In return, I give you anything you want.”

I was stunned.

The uncrowned king of the Northern world…wants ME?

Of all the women he could choose from, he picked ME?!

“But…why?” I blurt out.

It couldn’t be because of my performance last night, could it?

He looked deeply at me, “I like your scent. I’ve had insomnia for a long time, but last night, with your scent, I slept well.”

I blushed.

I thought we hardly slept last night.

“You wouldn’t think it was because of the sex, would you?” he smirked. “You are a cute little wolf. But you still have much to learn in bed.”

God, his soldiers were listening!

I wished I could vanish in thin air.

He chuckled and rubbed my lips with his rough thumb, then planted a kiss on my lips.

“Think about it, little wolf. I don’t care about that stupid sister of yours, but I want you with me when I depart in 3 days.”

With that said, he stood up and left the room with his soldiers.

I stood there frozen, holding the contract, my thoughts in turmoil.

Alpha Draven wants me.

But I was not even his mistress because mistress had a title.

I was just a…plaything. Someone to have fun with in bed.

BANG!

The living room door flung open again. Veronica rushed at me, grabbing my hair and roared:

“You slept with Alpha Draven?! HOW DARE YOU!!!”

“I... I didn’t know who he was…” I begged with tears, “please let go…”

Helena came in as well. She asked Veronica with a frown, “What was that, sweetie? Weren’t we going to reject Alpha Draven?”

“But he’s so young and handsome, nothing like the rumors!” Veronica said excitedly. “And think about it, Mom. If I become his Luna and survive, I’ll be the most prestigious woman in the Northern world! All the small packs will respect us!”

That was true.

The Full Moon Pack was the largest pack in the Northern world. Marrying Draven would mean marrying into power and wealth.

Helena’s cheeks flushed with excitement, “Indeed, but those rumors... Hey Mia! What’s he like in bed last night?”

They both stared at me.

I felt extremely ashamed, not wanting to tell them my private life, but I had no choice.

“He... was gentle,” I said lowly.

“What?!” Veronica shrieked. “He’s an Alpha! How could he be gentle with a whore like you?”

“H—He was gentle at first… but then he got a bit rough… I don’t know…”

I stammered. Last night’s scenes flashed through my mind. My body heat up again.

Helena looked at me with disgust, “Anyway, she survived after sleeping with Alpha Draven, so his wives didn’t die in his bed.”

“They must have died of their own ignorance.” Veronica said disdainfully. “I’m different. I’m smarter and stronger than all of them combined.”

“And why did Alpha Draven want to talk to you in private?” Helena demanded?

I quickly hid the contract in my pocket, not wanting them to see it.

“He... he simply asked a few things about you...” I lied.

Veronica beamed, “Really? I knew he had nothing to say to a slut like you! What did he say about me?”

I stammered, “He said that...Veronica is very beautiful and asked how old she is...”

I had to make up something.

I couldn't tell them that Alpha Draven called Veronica my “stupid sister.”

Veronica flipped her hair with a smile, “Of course he would notice my beauty. Didn't you tell him that I love music and am great at hunting? You are so bad at this, Mia!”

“We might need to prepare your wedding dress right now! Alpha Draven has definitely fallen for you!” Helena exclaimed with joy, “Spend more time with him at tonight’s party!”

“Yes, mom! Maybe in 3 days, he won't even consider other candidates and will announce me as Luna straight away!”

Helena glanced at me, her smile vanishing as she said with disgust, “Don't just stand there! Go pack your things! The day your sister leaves with Alpha Draven, you're going to the border as well!”

Blushing with shame, I lowered my head and left the living room, their excited laughter trailing behind me.

The contract in my pocket felt like a burning brand.

And I suddenly realized something.

If I don't sign the contract, I'll have to go to the border and become a camp whore.
