Chapter 27 - Mate

I looked around the house to see if there was any exit I could use to run away if he decided to kill me.

"Even if you found an exit, you couldn't run faster than me. So, don't waste your time and sit there," Diego told me tiredly. He sat on the rocking chair and pointed at the couch in front of him. I didn't want to sit there or be in the same room as him, but telling him anything was nothing less than a suicide attempt.

I silently went there and sat on the couch, steadying my gaze on the fireplace. The way I felt around him was hazardous for my health, and him sitting there shirtless in front of me wasn't helping much in this case.

"There's something you should know," he stated, and I said nothing. "When I'm talking to you, look at me," he snapped angrily, scared and annoyed me simultaneously.

"But," I bit my lip to shut my mouth before him. He is dangerous, and I know he wouldn't think twice before killing me. I finally turned my gaze towards him and looked him in the eye. I just
