Silver:

The Reborn Kingdom did not take the news of their King’s disappearance as well as I had expected them to. On the first day, it was complete chaos. People wailed on the streets, tore their clothes, and scattered around everywhere. No one tried to bring Mila and me back to the harem like I assumed they would. There was nothing but confusion everywhere, I wondered how Beta Rogu would ever be able to put the Kingdom back in order.

After storming out of the hideout building, I hadn’t been able to find Mila again. I wondered if she was searching for me, or if amidst the chaos, she had been hurt. I had to carry on without her. Based on everything that had happened, I had a huge role to play now, so I would worry about her later.

I hid my bracelet inside my dress to protect it from being stolen. It was very easy for people to revert to crime during times like this and I preferred not to be a victim. I didn’t know where I was going to or what I hoped to achieve by mindlessly roaming

After making more prayers and watching for signs and saw nothing, I sighed in frustration and released my grip on the jewelry. It was of no use. What had I even expected to happen? We got to a place where the road forked into two roads and Terah silently asked me what to do with his eyes. There were paw prints on both roads, so it was not an easy decision. As I stood at a loss for what to do, three leaves suddenly fell from a tree by my right and I squinted, wondering if that was a sign. Nothing else happened so I chose that road. At the end of that road, there was another fork and just like before, three leaves fell down from the tree next to it. Okay, so this was a sign. “Follow the leaves,” I told him but he gave me a blank stare. “What leaves?” “Can't you see those…” When I looked again, I didn't find the leaves that had just fallen. My eyes widened. If I had doubted that sign the first time, I was sure of it now. I swallowed. This was crazy. I still felt like I was losing

Silver:The extremely bright light stunned everyone and for several moments, there was no movement from any angle. I was too terrified to open my eyes in the magical light which blinded me even through my closed eyes. However, when I felt a paw on my hand nudging me, I knew I had to use this distraction to my advantage. When I opened my eyes, I discovered I could see clearly, notwithstanding the light. The wolves on the other end paced wildly around, the light disorienting them and making them unable to see what was right in front of them. Looking down at Damon who had a deep gash on his neck that had been poorly bandaged, I fought the urge to cry. His body felt warm and his chest was heaving slightly, so that meant he was still alive, although barely. “Please wake up,” I begged him, tears falling from my eyes. I felt a steering pain deep in my chest from seeing him this way, so fragile and on the verge of death. Terah’s wolf kicked me on the chest and I turned around in anger, but

Silver: I froze in my steps after the large man had spoken. He didn't look friendly. How could I be so sure Alpha Damon had truly sent him? What made him think I would choose him over the first man? “Don’t listen to him!” the man who wanted me to come into his house muttered and roughly pulled me to him. “Follow me if you want to live.” The large man sighed in frustration like my skepticism was simply an inconvenience to his afternoon plans. Had he really been sent by the King or was this simply a ruse to get me first? On the other hand, if he was one of the other wolves, I doubted he would even bother to try to convince me to go with him. He would just rip me to shreds, no questions asked. Maybe he wanted me for sinister reasons. That was even worse. I allowed the homely man to lead me to his house while maintaining eye contact with the large man. How did the King expect me to trust such a scary-looking man? Perhaps he was banking on the fact that I would be so terrified by the o

Silver: His confession confused me even more. He had no idea about the supposed mind link Terah had sworn he sent. Had Terah made it all up? But why? Just to get me to follow him? How did he know I could even do anything? Something didn't add up here. “Aurelia,” the King called and the puny maid appeared before him. “Yes, Your Highness.” “Call Terah immediately.” She left to do as she was told and I wrapped my arms around my legs. “He's coming here?” I asked. “Now?” He placed his hand under his head on the pillow as he watched me. “Do you have a problem with that?” I did. I had just gotten my faux wolf status. I didn't want to stand out for being with the King in a suspicious way. I was on his bed, sitting down right beside him. Anyone could easily misinterpret the situation. “Not really a problem, but I don't think he will understand what I'm doing here. In your room,” I answered, feeling awkward all of a sudden. I wrapped my arms tighter around myself but it still didn't s

Alpha Damon: I ignored the look that Silver gave me when I instructed Aurelia to take her away. As much as I would have liked her to remain with me and finish what we started, I had more important things to deal with than my pleasure. Fortunately, she didn't make a big deal about it but left with the maid without a second’s backward glance at me. My kingdom was under attack and I had to do something about it. This was not the first time my kingdom had threatened to divide or some threat had arrived from somewhere outside the kingdom, yet strangely, this time it felt more serious than the rest. This time, it wasn't just a sudden attack from rogues or a group wanting to secede from the Kingdom. This time, it was a carefully constructed series of events that seemed to employ every kind of force there was. If I didn't do something about it soon, I would lose everything I had worked so hard for, and my kingdom would reduce to nothing. The attack on the rogues had only been a decoy to ge

Silver:“Let's go,” Aurelia told me with her lips pressed together. I sighed before getting up and going with the woman. There was no need to throw a tantrum over something that I had no control over. When Alpha Damon made a decree like this, it always stood, regardless of who it was for. I didn't turn back to look at him. At least now, I was no longer at the harem but directly under his roof so I felt much safer. Plus, now I smelt like a wolf so it would be way easier to blend in. Aurelia led me through several hallways and we passed many rooms. I wondered if they were all occupied and if so, how many people actually lived in the palace of the King. We kept walking in silence until we reached the last room in the hallway. She unlocked the door to the room which was set apart from all the others and got in. I followed after her and noticed how musty the room smelled. It was extremely dark so she opened the windows which gave off a rickety sound when she did. She lit a candle that

Alpha Damon: “What exactly will you tell her when she comes in here?” I asked Gwyddion when he suggested bringing Silver over. He was more excited about divulging the news to Silver than in making any actual plans to do it correctly. “I need to tell her…” he squealed and I cringed at the unnatural sound. “To tell her what? That she's the chosen one? You already did that.” “But now I have actual proof.” “You’re only going to end up scaring her.” “But she has to know,” he said sharply, surprising me. I crossed my arms. “And if you tell her, what happens then? She, who is already terrified of living here will now be told about the huge role she has to play for the same people who want her dead. Do you think she will want to do it? Especially when you have no idea what the role actually is? Think about it.” “Enough,” he barked and my eyes widened. Since when did the soft-spoken Gwyddion ever bark at his Alpha? “I know you think I'm old and that I am not so capable of making good

Alpha Damon:“Our King is dead?” someone whose voice I didn’t recognize screamed in fright. The voice sounded vague, like I was underwater. That didn’t sound right. I tried to stretch my limbs, or get up and tell whoever had said that that I was alive and could hear them, but I seemed to have no control over my body. My eyes remained shut and my limbs remained limp at my sides. If I could feel my heart at that moment, it would have been pounding wildly. What was wrong? I could hear, yet I couldn’t do anything else. What if whoever had said that was right? What if I was really dead? What did it feel like to be dead? Perhaps I was at the last stage between life and death where I could hear but not react. I couldn’t feel anything, not even pain, and I couldn’t remember anything that had happened before now. “I don’t know,” someone else said, sounding equally frantic, although the voice was still vague. "Call the physician immediately. He doesn’t seem to be breathing.”No. Not the phys

  • Alpha Damon's Redemption   The End

Silver’s POV Five Years later: “To our fifth year of harmony!” Bottles clinked and deep voices rang out in cheers as everyone joined in the merriment. The feast was bigger than any other preceding it, and each row and column was filled with human and wolf alike, drinking and laughing, talking and dancing as the joys of merriment engulfed them. It was such a beautiful sight. This was something that had never been done in millennia, but had somehow been achieved during our time. It was a feast we held to celebrate the day the war had officially ended, and even though it was the fifth year, it still felt unreal and made me feel jittery whenever I looked at the sincere faces of everyone having fun. Sometimes it felt like the entire beef between human and wolf never even happened. That felt like such a long time ago, like a dream whose parts I couldn’t clearly remember anymore. The dream could have never become a reality if not for the gods’ interference, that was for sure. Th

Silver: “I can’t. My sister is here,” I said, turning to show him my sister, but of course he couldn’t see her in the pitch blackness. “I’m with Lord Tyrel,” Damon said. “He’ll keep an eye on her. This is really important.” “Hello, Luna,” a deep voice which I assumed must be Tyrel’s spoke. I stepped back defensively. “I’m not leaving my sister with any of your Lords after what I’ve been through,” I snarled. I didn’t care that this lord Tyrel could hear me. There was no way I would let her near any of the men who had gladly sought my death. Damon sighed and held my hand again. I wanted to slap his hand away, but it was warm and relaxing , a contrast from anything I had witnessed all night. “The reason why Rogu was able to get so many people on his side was because he used magic. Some of my men were infected, but now the black magic is gone, I promise you.” I laughed drily. “You really expect me to believe that?” “It’s the truth. That’s how he was able to get the

Silver: I stood in awe as the bright apparition came closer. I had told Tiffanie all about the goddess of time, but like other things I had said, she didn’t believe me then. She stood there frozen with her mouth open as the apparition drew closer. I waited, surprised by the fact that I was greatly excited to meet Oge even though I had borne a huge resentment for her abandoning us after so long. The wolf’s loud and scary howls turned into soft scared purs as it ran away when the goddess approached. Once again, I had been saved from certain death from her timely intervention. As the figure kept approaching however, I slowly began to realize it looked more familiar than usual. It was a woman alright, but not Oge. “Mom?” My sister called out uncertainly. My lips could not form words. Right there in front of me was my mother who had been torn to shreds in front of me a day before, standing in front of me with no marks on her face and looking like a smiling angel. “Silver,

Silver: The noise coming from outside was enough to scare anyone to death. It was evident the human soldiers had finally rallied together and mobilized their weapons and men to fight for them. I was in the room Xavier had ordered his men to place me and I crouched by a corner holding my sister who was even more scared than I was. “Should we go out?” Tiffanie asked with a trembling voice. “We need a better place to hide…” She couldn’t complete the rest of her sentence because a loud crash sounded above us. Never in my life had I heard anything as terrifying as the things I heard that day, not even the day Rogu had planted grenades around Alpha Damon’s palace. “It’s too dangerous to go out there,” I screamed over the loud explosions. “This is the best place we can be at this point.” More explosions occurred, which made Tiffanie and me shudder at each sound. I wasn’t sure I could ever remain normal even if I somehow survived this. After watching my mother get murdered right i

  • Alpha Damon's Redemption   Confessions

Alpha Damon: “All these years. It was you!” I barked at Rogu who had been tied up at my command. To say I was furious would be a huge understatement. I felt the pain all over again, but this time it wasn’t just the pain of losing my mother, it was the pain of losing my senses, the love of my life and years of happiness I would have had, all because I allowed Rogu to play with my head. I didn’t have to wait for a response from him. I knew Silver’s mother was right. From the look on Rogu’s face as I manhandled him, to the emotions I could feel through him, I knew he was guilty. All those years when I was just an eight year old boy on a walk with his mother and witnessing her murder right in front of me, it had been Rogu all along. He had killed her by mistake because he meant to kill Silver’s mother, a fellow wolf. I had assumed Silver’s father was the murderer simply because he had tried to help me resuscitate her, and because I had been told humans were nothing but trouble and

  • Alpha Damon's Redemption   The Truth

Silver: It took a while for me to realize that the voice screaming was mine. I watched in horror as my mother’s body was carted away from the room by the other two wolves, while the one who had done the biggest damage stayed back to watch me. Tiffanie was on the floor, rolling and crying. I didn’t know what to do. My mother no longer looked like my mother. She was gone. She was dead. Right after I finally got her back. I fell to the floor without noticing the wolf that was watching me with keen eyes. I wondered why he wouldn’t pounce on me already. It was as if all they wanted was my mother, but then what was the gain in killing her? It made no sense. They had been safe before I arrived. Was it my fault? Had I been the one to draw the rabid wolves here with my scent? I hated myself then. I blamed myself for everything. After everything I had been through to come back to my mother and to protect my family, she had been taken from me within a few split seconds. As I lay on the flo

Silver: “This is great news,” I squealed. For the first time since I discovered I was part werewolf, I was proud of it. It had saved my life and that of my sister after all. “How did it happen?” “When the wolves came, everywhere was a mess. Fortunately, our house is a little hidden so not many came here. Two came to carry us. They called us freaks and tried to kill mom and one started touching me inappropriately,” she said, rubbing her elbows and looking away as she recounted the unfavorable incident. My hands balled into fists. “Something just snapped within me and before I knew it I was on the floor like an animal, tearing into their flesh.” “I’m sorry you had to go through that,” I said, before flopping on the couch. I was extremely exhausted. “But I’m happy we can defend ourselves.” “Why do you look so bad?” She asked me, taking in my roughed up appearance and the blood all over my clothes. “I’m exhausted and…” I said, struggling to speak now that the adrenaline that

I stood up immediately and went back to join the others, not willing to draw any attention to the fact that I had just killed a wolf. “Let’s go,” I choked out and fortunately, no one asked me any stupid questions, just followed me. I limped as I led the way, my entire body in pain. I had no idea where I was taking them, but as long as we were moving, I was fine. I wasn’t sure if there was any place that hadn’t yet been run down by the wolves already. “Marc,” someone called and I glanced around but didn’t see anyone. “Psst. Hey. Down here.” We all looked down at the same time and I jumped when I saw the faint outline of a body through a hole in the ground that could pass for a sewer. “Jimmy?” The man in our group who must have been named Marc called back. “What are you doing in the ground?” “Just wait, I’ll be right there,” Jimmy said, disappearing from our view. There was arguing among the prisoners and those who wanted to hide with us for a few minutes. I found it very stupid to engage in an argument at this point. It wasn't like the prisoners could come out of their cells and chase the new people away. "Everyone stop!" the man who always managed to have information barked and everywhere quieted down.
