Rose’s POV
I twitched in my sleep, and let out a slow breath. I adjusted the pillows under my head, but I could not comfortably go back to sleep. My eyes were still closed, but then I suddenly realized why I had woken up in the first place.I had felt the presence of someone watching me.The sudden realization made me scared. My eyes flew open, to see the dimness in my room. It was late at night, with only a few night lights on. I quickly sat up on my bed and glanced around the room. I nearly had a cardiac arrest when I spotted it.Or him.A dark male figure lingering in the shadows of my bedroom. I let out an ear-splitting scream, scrambling backward on my bed until I hit the headboard. Still, I kept trying to move backward, away from the creep who had broken into my house in the dead of the night. The person moved, and I screamed again, scared out of my mind."Stay away! Stay away! What do you want from me?! I'll call the cops, stay away!"He did not stop moving. He was coming closer to my bed.My voice broke. "Do you want money? I swear, I don't have much, but I'll give you everything I have! Please don't hurt me!"So many thoughts raced through my mind. Was he a burglar? That could explain how he got into my house without triggering any of the alarms. But should he not have been searching through the house for valuable items to steal instead of just staying in my bedroom? He was watching me sleep. What kind of dangerous creep was he? I was prepared to scream the house down when I suddenly heard my name."Rose."The scream froze midway in my throat. That masculine voice sounded familiar, but I could not place where I had heard it from. But then, my heart thundered as I asked."H-how do you know my name? Who the hell are you?!""I'm Rael. The man you had sex with two months ago, at a club."My mouth fell slack open as all the blood in my face drained away. As I sat there, struggling to absorb what he just said. He took one more step closer to the foot of my bed. That was when I finally saw him clearly.Towering figure made of lean muscle, broad shoulders and manly chest. With that narrow waist lined with defined abs that peeked through his shirt. My widened eyes traveled up, till they landed on his face. That gorgeous as hell face that immediately pulled out all the forgotten memories from that drunken night. His dark hair sat sexily ruffled, like that night, and his dark eyes were staring at me with a hunger that was all too familiar. It was him. There was no mistaking it. And his name was Rael. He was right in front of me. The stranger that had turned my life upside down."How did you find me?" I asked suspiciously. "You broke into my house in the dead of the night! How do I know you're not dangerous? How do I know you're not trying to hurt me?"Something that seemed like a flicker of dark amusement crossed his eyes, and he responded. "If I wanted to hurt you, I would have the first night we met. And, I found you because I can feel the mating bond pulling me in your direction. I have felt it for a long time, driving me insane, and making me wish for nothing else but to find you."I stared at him, unable to understand what he was talking about. Mating bond? But I did not even care about how he found me at this point, because my hand was already on my flat belly, instinctively protecting the tiny life growing inside. The life that this man was responsible for."Do you know that my life has been turned upside down ever since that night?" I whispered. "Not only did I lose my virginity to you, but I'm also pregnant."There was something about how intense his gaze turned when I broke the news to him, that made my toes curl. Those dark eyes slowly raked down to my belly, and he repeated."You are pregnant.""Yes." I sighed, not knowing why I blurted that out to him in the first place. He was unfazed. He looked back up at me, with that uncanny level of possessiveness."Since I have already taken two things from you, your virginity and your girlhood, you're my responsibility now. Come with me, to my home, and let me take care of you, and our child."I blinked, stunned by his words. He was willing to accept the pregnancy? And me? Still, I found it difficult to believe. The way he even said 'our child' made me gasp softly at his easy acceptance."How can I just go with you to your home? All of this is too much for me to handle…""You don't have to handle anything, Rose." He said. "You're mine. You're carrying my pup. I'll handle everything. I've come to take you home. Here, take my hand."He held out his hand to me, and I stared at it uncertainly. It was firm, big, and strong. The hand of a man that could potentially hold a lot of danger. But both during the night we had sex, and now, he had never posed any danger to me.His dark eyes seemed like they held a lot of secrets, and that gorgeous face seemed like it was hiding something very frightening within, but for some reason, I felt a very deep level of trust towards him.I found myself extending my hand, till it slipped smoothly into his.He pulled me up and forward, till I was in his arms. I marvelled at how strong and solid he felt against me, and he cupped the back of my head with his fingers, rubbing strands of my hair."Every strand of this beautiful red hair is all mine now, down to every part of your body, to the baby inside you. All mine."Rose’s POV Rose's POVRael had told me not to take anything with me, because he was going to provide everything I needed once we got to his house. As he led me to the sleek black car waiting by the side of the room, I looked around, not believing that this was truly happening. The entire road was deserted, with only a few stars in the dark night sky, and the full moon shining its silvery light down on us. For some reason, the moon made me feel uneasier. He opened the passenger seat and helped me get in. He shut the door and walked over to the driver's seat. Once he got in, the clean leather scent of the car mingled with his heady, musky scent and it caused an unexpected reaction to rack through my body. My nipples pebbled against the fabric of my night dress and I hoped he could not see it.I was wrong, because he turned to me, and his eyes fell straight to my chest. The air between us turned molten. I swallowed whatever lump had gathered in my throat, and averted my gaze, trying to
Rose’s POVI gasped for air as I woke up, scrambling for something on the table.I needed to get away. I needed…I reached out for something I didn't know of, only to find warm silky fabric in my grasp. What? Finally, I breathed in slowly and deeply, trying to put my thoughts in check. The deep red silk duvet I realized I was under mocked me.Once I was more clear minded, I looked around and one thing became evident.I was in a room. One which wasn't mine.Luxurious was too small a word to call the room. The lights shone bright, illuminating the lavish decor. The curtains framed the large windows, and I could easily tell that it was expensive.Where was I?That was when it all came back to me. Rael in my house. The car ride. The…Tendrils of fear rose up in me as I recalled it clearly. The wolves, those gnashing beasts with metallic claws. Worse of this nightmare?Rael was one of them. The memory of seeing him transforming into a wolf came up again, and I couldn't have borne it. Even
Rael’s POV“Somebody help me!” My eyes instantly popped open at the voice.“Rose," I murmured, remembering her name. She was an enigma, approaching me out of nowhere in a flurry of red hair and an enticing black dress. She had caught my attention dangerously well, and had paid the price for it.I remembered that night easily. I hadn't expected what would come from it until I saw her again, talking about pregnancy. So I did what I knew, and led her all the way to my house, only for unwelcome visitors to interrupt our journey. The image of how she fainted once she saw my wolf form didn't leave my mind. Her reaction wasn't surprising to me, yet it was enough for me to rest in the cabin, assured that my servants would take care of her.And now, she was in danger.I instantly stood up from my place within the cabin, rushing out the door with haste. The scream hadn't come from the mansion, but I could still hear its echoes in the dark myriad of trees. It came from the woods.“Shit,” I curs
Rose’s POVI opened my eyes only to see painful light bursting through.“Where was I?’ I wondered to myself, A dull pain shot through my arm to my surprise. I groaned, laying down. What was going on? I wondered as I shifted to the side, trying to spot the reason for my pain.As my sight cleared up and the lights dulled down, I finally saw it.There was an IV drip on my arm, and standing beside the bed I laid on, was Rael.I instantly jolted up, watching as he focused on me.“Rose." He said, moving to reach me.I ignored the pain as I used my arm - still connected to the drip - to stop him, arms spread out in the air.“Don't come any closer,” I warned despite my voice wavering.Thankfully, he stood right where he was, and I relaxed a little.“What happened to me?” I asked. The last thing I remembered was…Fear. Pain. The gnashing of teeth and shining claws that tore through my skin.“I heard your call in the woods.” He said. I turned to meet his face. “By the time I reached there, you
Rose’s POVThree weeks later.I moved along the supermarket in my hoodie, making sure my head was down as I brought in the basket to the cashier. Once she was done packaging it all, she smiled.“Thank you for coming here.” She said. I smiled in turn, but the moment I was about to pass, she stopped me. “Sorry, ma'am. Have I seen you before?” She asked.I stiffened for a moment, and I was thankful for the oversized hoodie I wore that hid my reaction. With a small smile, I shook my head. “Not that I know of,” I replied.Thankfully she didn't push it any forward, apologizing before letting me go. The moment I stepped out of the supermarket, I rushed through the streets, heart beating wildly. This was my life now, turned on its head ever since that damned announcement. As though it wasn't enough that he had made such a ludicrous announcement, Rael even had to do something worse.Flashack“Why on earth did you do that? I asked strickenly as he shut the door. Moments after quelling the medi
Rose's POVAlbrecht Medicals company building might as well have been the easiest thing to find. It was one of the largest buildings in the city afterall. A skyscraper which stood tall above the others.Which was why I stood in front of it now, looking up at its name and logo written so far up I could barely see it.I swallowed before stepping in. The faster I did this, the better. The moment I came in, I was stopped by guards again.“No strangers enter the premises.” They said.I wasn't stupid. There was only one way I could enter without a hitch. I breathed in , preparing myself for what I was about to say.“I am Rael’s fiancee, and I need to speak with him,” I said as confidently as I could, ignoring the cringe that wracked me internally at the words. They both looked at each other for a moment before one of them brought out a phone, speaking indecipherably. I held my breath, praying that they would somehow accept my excuse. Not long after, the clack of heels became louder, a woman
Rose’s POVThe second I could think clearly, it all came rushing to me.Rage. Red hot rage bubbled up inside me as I looked at him, processing what he said.Bound for life.No. Hell no.Without thinking, I struck. The sound of the slap echoed in the room for a few seconds. My breaths came harsh and loud as his face, snapped to the side by the force of my slap, came turning back to meet mine.“It doesn't matter if it was an accident or not. What matters is that it's there. It is real, and it can be taken back.” He said in his damned monotonous voice. His words and tone were grating more and more on my nerves. How could he be so calm about what he had done?I wished he was joking, I wish I could leave his office under the thoughts of calling him crazy.I had seen him turn into a wolf. Had seen other wolves, which had attacked me. His words were no longer impossible.Which only meant that they had to be trueI fought the overwhelming urge to cry and curl in on myself. I couldn't show any
Rose’s POVI sighed as I gazed up at the monotonous ceiling. For the first few days of my arrival here, I had only resided within the four walls of my bedroom. The reason was partly out of a strange sort of rebellion, a reminder that though I agreed on it of my free will, I most definitely wasn't happy about it. The second reason was out of fear. I didn’t know what I was more afraid of - me My absence in wandering hadn’t seemed to waver the rest of the household. Every day, the people dressed in blue would knock at my door, either bringing breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the evenings. Occasionally they spoke, asking me if I needed anything else to which I always refused. I had fallen asleep constantly in the past few days, and I wasn’t sure if that was my body releasing the stress I had been through for the past few weeks or otherwise. Yet, everytime I fell asleep after a meal. I would wake up to see it gone. Thus, there really seemed to be no need for me to leave my room, and for
Rose's POVI sighed, looking up at the night sky. The chill of the night sky made me shiver, but I embraced it.The hospital region looked so different from the places I was used to, but the sky always remained the same.I had stayed in the hospital for four days now. Even though in theory there was no longer any need to. Real had insisted on the hospital staff who allowed me to remain here, even without the needs for medical attention.I was grateful for it, and I was sure he knew why I didn't want to step into the mansion again. And so my nights were spent within the place, no dankehs in sight and Real being a constant presence. Despite staying in the hospital, he brought food from the pack house daily which I accepted.Adian visited another time on one occasion, and Rael stood by, acting more like a watchdog. Amidst their jabs I could see what I had been blind to for so long. The easy camaraderie between them. And Rael seemed lighter than I had ever seen him before. Now, four days
Rael's POVTracing her contact and the texts she sent was the hardest part, everything aside from that was easy.Location in hand, I arrived to find him, said ex boyfriend, sipping tea in the cafe waiting for her. I stepped in, facing him.I could tell that he was one to be easily intimidated, proven by how he palmed immediately after he recognized me. In no time, he scrammed out of the cafe, garnering many looks for a moment. I waited in silence for the main reason for my presence. It took almost twenty minutes, before Jade stepped in, eyes searching through the tables. Despite her almost innocent appearance, she was definitely sharp minded. The moment she spotted me, surprise flitted onto her face before morphing into dislike. She indeed loathed me. I had never been close or bothered with any of her friends aside from listening whenever she talked about them, but whether I caught it or not wouldn't have mattered either way if not for this.I partly expected her to walk away or try t
Rose's POV Rael left shortly after bringing me breakfast, leaving me with a kiss on my forehead and whispered promises.Full and completely awake, there was no way I was going back to bed anytime soon. With nothing left to do, I walked around the large hospital room I had been given, admiring the skyline view in peace. I tried not to think too much about Jade and whatever measures Real was going to take, only hoping that both of them were alright. Instead, I looked down at my belly.A baby was growing in there and I never noticed. Slowly rubbing it, I smiled to myself at Rael's past words. Indeed, this baby was resilient to have gone past the alcohol and malnourishment, only to remain healthy.Strong, but that didn't mean I was going to let anyone harm it. “I don't know what will happen between your father and I, but I promise you I'll protect you the best I can. Even if it costs me.” Shutting my eyes, I repeated it several times, keeping it etched in my bones.I would do my best t
Rose's POVWhen I woke up, the sun was up and it was far warmer than before. Yawning, I looked around as it eased upon me.The chair Rael was on was completely empty. I properly looked around at the surroundings. The place was large, filled with couches and chairs with a dining setting right beside them. Save hospital beds, it looked more like a hotel. This definitely wasn't cheap.I let out a sigh, shaking my head. There was nothing I could do about it now.Even with his absence, I could still hear his words. He loved me.There were still plenty of things to deal with, especially with my pregnancy on the way. But instead, I laid back on the mattress, closing my eyes. At this moment, I was content.I spent my time taking deep breaths, lost in the blank zen state when a sudden vibration pulled me out.Blinking, I looked around for the source, only to see my phone in surprise.‘He'd taken it too, I reasoned. I looked at the screen in surprise. Jade was calling.I gasped, recalling how I
Rose's POVI squinted in the face of the blinding lights, taking time to adjust as I slowly returned to reality.Beeping filled my ears, closer than ever. The sting of disinfectant woke me up even further.‘Where was I?’ I faintly wondered as I drifted out of dreamland. I tried sitting up when suddenly a pair of warm hands circled me.“Wait." All vestiges of sleep erased at his voice. His words and our unfinished discussion before my fainting still rang clearly in my mind.‘Of course,’ I thought. He was the one who no doubt brought me here.I remained silent while he helped me sit up, avoiding eye contact. Tingles grew from his penetrating stare, but I ignored it.“Where am I?" I asked, breaking the tense silence.“You're in the hospital." He said, confirming my thoughts.A slight twinge of relief filled me that I wasn't back in the mansion, no matter how much my heart lurched for it. This was more neutral ground. Those thoughts went away once I remembered why I was in the hospital.
Rael's POVPanic grew in my throat the moment I caught her in my arms. She was out cold, her breaths shallow.Damn it all. I hadn't thought about her condition. The fact that she hadn't been eating for the past few days.None of that will do. I had to take her to the hospital.Hefting her body up, I moved against the fallen bodies in the hallway. That would be taken care of later.I had rushed in, feeling the warning instincts. She wouldn't forgive me if I left her friend there.‘She may not forgive you at all.’ Ny hands tightened on her at the thought.Rose's friend was knocked out cold on the floor, but otherwise, she was safe. No doubt she would wake up in a matter of hours.Laying Rose on the couch, I picked Jade up, tucking her into her bedroom before leaving just as quickly.Picking her up again, my gaze was fixated on her face, how peaceful she looked even now.Without another word, I sped back to my car.Driving into the hospital gave the feeling of deja vu, but I ignored it i
Rose's POVI almost couldn't believe it, but it was undeniable. The man I was hurt by, whom I thought wouldn't rescue me, was there. His eyes treaded across them.“Let her go.” He growled, body poised in a way that made him seem larger than life. The man that held me and his henchman were both stuck in place. I was too stricken to try struggling against them, which wouldn't have amounted to anything considering the still painful grip they had on me.In a flash, everything changed. The whiplash was painful as I was pulled away, the man holding me running as fast as he could out of the hallway. The movement sent a wave of dizziness through me.A loud growl, and everything holding me disappeared. I was light, flying freely in the air for a moment before I collided harshly with the ground. I whimpered as my injured arm burned before I slumped back to the floor.A choked noise and the sound of flesh colliding were all I heard before everything fell silent.Harsh breaths came up behind me,
Rose's POV I followed Jade through the door, shutting it behind me.I had sneaked out of the mansion, thankfully taking advantage of the lack of presence. Even with fear creeping from me, I walked until my legs hurt, moving until I reached the asphalt streets I had told Jade to wait for me in. Jade had taken a taxi all the way to the far end of the place where I met her. I looked away from her gaze, knowing the poor sight I looked like at the moment. It all went away after I entered the taxi, watching the mansion move farther and farther away. It was past midnight when we finally arrived in the city and even further when we got to her place. The timing was unexpected, but it all made sense when the destination wasn't the same one I knew. This apartment was new and different. From the minimal tones and the slightly more expensive look, it was a complete change from her former space throughout college.I looked around in awe. “I didn't know you had a new place,” I said, looking around
Rael's POV.I took in the cool air, letting the heat simmer down. Finally, the anticipated meeting with the Alpha Council had taken place and it was anticlimactic.I had welcomed them, pushing away all my worries easier than expected. After giving them the information and discoveries gathered, thanks to Mira, they were equally ecstatic. That was my chance to state my sole condition to continue this project.Let Rose go.“There is no need for us to use an innocent human as bait for the Dankehs anymore.” I had tried reasoning with them. The backlash was expected, but I physically had to hold myself back from losing control in the face of their disparaging comments.‘A mere human?’Rose was far more than that. She was more than anything else I had seen. I, who had taken advantage of her naivety and kindness, had tried seeing her in the same way in the beginning and failed miserably. None of them would understand though. They just saw her as a tool to gain victory over the threat plaguin
