Rose’s POV
Rose's POVRael had told me not to take anything with me, because he was going to provide everything I needed once we got to his house. As he led me to the sleek black car waiting by the side of the room, I looked around, not believing that this was truly happening. The entire road was deserted, with only a few stars in the dark night sky, and the full moon shining its silvery light down on us. For some reason, the moon made me feel uneasier. He opened the passenger seat and helped me get in. He shut the door and walked over to the driver's seat. Once he got in, the clean leather scent of the car mingled with his heady, musky scent and it caused an unexpected reaction to rack through my body. My nipples pebbled against the fabric of my night dress and I hoped he could not see it.I was wrong, because he turned to me, and his eyes fell straight to my chest. The air between us turned molten. I swallowed whatever lump had gathered in my throat, and averted my gaze, trying to hide my blush."Don't be embarrassed around me, Rose. I love seeing every inch of you. And I love that pretty blush on your cheeks right now."I blushed harder, but I cleared my throat, trying to act cool. Trying to act like his words had zero effects on me right now. My little pretense was shattered when he leaned in, engulfing me with his body heat and scent. My eyes flickered to his, as I stilled against my seat. He was getting closer, and my heart was racing harder.Until I heard a sudden click. I looked down and saw that he had fastened my seatbelt. I do not know why I felt severely disappointed when he leaned back into his seat and started the car.We had been driving for a while, but we still had not gotten to his house. Instead, as the car sped past, I spotted houses and apartments becoming less and less frequent. At some point, I only spotted a house after a long interval of nothing but woods. The pitch blackness, silence and the eerie moonlight only made me uneasy. What if he was going to kill me off in the woods? I bit my lips as I realized that I didn't tell either of my two friends before following this stranger.Bad decision, I know. But I was just happy to have someone care for the life we both created through our one mistake."How far away is your house?" I asked, glancing back at him as he turned the car into a back road that only seemed to sink further and further into some dense woods. "We have been driving for a long time.""We'll get there soon. Just a little more." He answered.I was not satisfied with his answer, but as I opened my mouth to pester him for a more specific answer, I heard a sickening screech of something sharp scraping the car from outside. There was a loud explosion as the back tires flattened, and the car lurched out of control.I screamed in shock.Rael let out a curse, and manoeuvred the car from ramming into a mighty tree at the edge of the dark woods. As he controlled the car, something heavy thudded against my side of the car, and I gasped, shifting away from the window. In another series of explosions, the front tires burst, and the car skidded uncontrollably till it crashed against a tree. Glass shattered all around us, but I felt myself being pulled against a warm, protective body before it rained down. I was trembling, and Rael had covered my body with his to protect me from the glass. There was a hiss from somewhere in the car, and smoke began to spread."We have to get out. Are you hurt, Rose?" He checked my body, and I was dumbfounded by how calm he sounded. We just had an unexplained car crash and I was almost hyperventilating, but he was so unfazed like it was part of his daily routine. There were even a few cuts on his arms, but he barely even noticed. He unfastened my seatbelt, and he spotted a tiny cut near my wrist. He froze, staring at the truckle of blood Roseowing down my skin.Suddenly, a storm of murderous anger filled his entire expression. I was wondering why he was suddenly so furious when I heard a blood curdling howl come from outside the car.I gasped. The howl was followed by a dozen others, and my skin crawled."What was that?" I whispered in fear. His eyes hardened. Without a word, he kicked the door open and stepped out first, pulling me out of the rapidly smoking car. I would rather stay in the damaged car than step out into the night with those strange sounds. But I had no choice, he was determined to keep me with him. There was another sharp growl, and he tucked me behind him. I peeked from behind his back, and what met my eyes nearly made me pass out. There were a dozen large beasts surrounding us, with drooling fangs and metal sharp claws. I saw deep scratches on the body of the car, and the tyres were shredded.Wolves. They had caused our car crash."Rael…" I whispered in horror. The biggest of the wolves snarled at me, and two of its kind jumped out towards us. Rael cursed and charged forward, kicking them both backwards like they were nothing but deflated balls. They both crashed into the woods, and this seemed to anger the rest of the wolves.I was half dead with panic. What could we do against animals? Should I call the emergency services?"Rael, give me your phone, I need to call—"The wolves charged simultaneously, and I thought it was all over for us. But then, I heard a sickening twist and crack of bones and muscles. I looked sideways to see Rael on the ground, his fingers sharpening into giant, sharp claws that could slice through the toughest flesh. He was transforming into some kind of beast right in front of me, and screams tore out of my throat. His curses turned into a deep growl that resonated through the woods, and he raised his head up to the full moon and let out a howl that chilled my soul.It was not Rael anymore. It was a giant, jet black wolf, with sharp long fangs, and a taste for blood. My screams died out, as I collapsed to the ground in a faint.Rose’s POVI gasped for air as I woke up, scrambling for something on the table.I needed to get away. I needed…I reached out for something I didn't know of, only to find warm silky fabric in my grasp. What? Finally, I breathed in slowly and deeply, trying to put my thoughts in check. The deep red silk duvet I realized I was under mocked me.Once I was more clear minded, I looked around and one thing became evident.I was in a room. One which wasn't mine.Luxurious was too small a word to call the room. The lights shone bright, illuminating the lavish decor. The curtains framed the large windows, and I could easily tell that it was expensive.Where was I?That was when it all came back to me. Rael in my house. The car ride. The…Tendrils of fear rose up in me as I recalled it clearly. The wolves, those gnashing beasts with metallic claws. Worse of this nightmare?Rael was one of them. The memory of seeing him transforming into a wolf came up again, and I couldn't have borne it. Even
Rael’s POV“Somebody help me!” My eyes instantly popped open at the voice.“Rose," I murmured, remembering her name. She was an enigma, approaching me out of nowhere in a flurry of red hair and an enticing black dress. She had caught my attention dangerously well, and had paid the price for it.I remembered that night easily. I hadn't expected what would come from it until I saw her again, talking about pregnancy. So I did what I knew, and led her all the way to my house, only for unwelcome visitors to interrupt our journey. The image of how she fainted once she saw my wolf form didn't leave my mind. Her reaction wasn't surprising to me, yet it was enough for me to rest in the cabin, assured that my servants would take care of her.And now, she was in danger.I instantly stood up from my place within the cabin, rushing out the door with haste. The scream hadn't come from the mansion, but I could still hear its echoes in the dark myriad of trees. It came from the woods.“Shit,” I curs
Rose’s POVI opened my eyes only to see painful light bursting through.“Where was I?’ I wondered to myself, A dull pain shot through my arm to my surprise. I groaned, laying down. What was going on? I wondered as I shifted to the side, trying to spot the reason for my pain.As my sight cleared up and the lights dulled down, I finally saw it.There was an IV drip on my arm, and standing beside the bed I laid on, was Rael.I instantly jolted up, watching as he focused on me.“Rose." He said, moving to reach me.I ignored the pain as I used my arm - still connected to the drip - to stop him, arms spread out in the air.“Don't come any closer,” I warned despite my voice wavering.Thankfully, he stood right where he was, and I relaxed a little.“What happened to me?” I asked. The last thing I remembered was…Fear. Pain. The gnashing of teeth and shining claws that tore through my skin.“I heard your call in the woods.” He said. I turned to meet his face. “By the time I reached there, you
Rose’s POVThree weeks later.I moved along the supermarket in my hoodie, making sure my head was down as I brought in the basket to the cashier. Once she was done packaging it all, she smiled.“Thank you for coming here.” She said. I smiled in turn, but the moment I was about to pass, she stopped me. “Sorry, ma'am. Have I seen you before?” She asked.I stiffened for a moment, and I was thankful for the oversized hoodie I wore that hid my reaction. With a small smile, I shook my head. “Not that I know of,” I replied.Thankfully she didn't push it any forward, apologizing before letting me go. The moment I stepped out of the supermarket, I rushed through the streets, heart beating wildly. This was my life now, turned on its head ever since that damned announcement. As though it wasn't enough that he had made such a ludicrous announcement, Rael even had to do something worse.Flashack“Why on earth did you do that? I asked strickenly as he shut the door. Moments after quelling the medi
Rose's POVAlbrecht Medicals company building might as well have been the easiest thing to find. It was one of the largest buildings in the city afterall. A skyscraper which stood tall above the others.Which was why I stood in front of it now, looking up at its name and logo written so far up I could barely see it.I swallowed before stepping in. The faster I did this, the better. The moment I came in, I was stopped by guards again.“No strangers enter the premises.” They said.I wasn't stupid. There was only one way I could enter without a hitch. I breathed in , preparing myself for what I was about to say.“I am Rael’s fiancee, and I need to speak with him,” I said as confidently as I could, ignoring the cringe that wracked me internally at the words. They both looked at each other for a moment before one of them brought out a phone, speaking indecipherably. I held my breath, praying that they would somehow accept my excuse. Not long after, the clack of heels became louder, a woman
Rose’s POVThe second I could think clearly, it all came rushing to me.Rage. Red hot rage bubbled up inside me as I looked at him, processing what he said.Bound for life.No. Hell no.Without thinking, I struck. The sound of the slap echoed in the room for a few seconds. My breaths came harsh and loud as his face, snapped to the side by the force of my slap, came turning back to meet mine.“It doesn't matter if it was an accident or not. What matters is that it's there. It is real, and it can be taken back.” He said in his damned monotonous voice. His words and tone were grating more and more on my nerves. How could he be so calm about what he had done?I wished he was joking, I wish I could leave his office under the thoughts of calling him crazy.I had seen him turn into a wolf. Had seen other wolves, which had attacked me. His words were no longer impossible.Which only meant that they had to be trueI fought the overwhelming urge to cry and curl in on myself. I couldn't show any
Rose’s POVI sighed as I gazed up at the monotonous ceiling. For the first few days of my arrival here, I had only resided within the four walls of my bedroom. The reason was partly out of a strange sort of rebellion, a reminder that though I agreed on it of my free will, I most definitely wasn't happy about it. The second reason was out of fear. I didn’t know what I was more afraid of - me My absence in wandering hadn’t seemed to waver the rest of the household. Every day, the people dressed in blue would knock at my door, either bringing breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the evenings. Occasionally they spoke, asking me if I needed anything else to which I always refused. I had fallen asleep constantly in the past few days, and I wasn’t sure if that was my body releasing the stress I had been through for the past few weeks or otherwise. Yet, everytime I fell asleep after a meal. I would wake up to see it gone. Thus, there really seemed to be no need for me to leave my room, and for
Rose POV“So, what do you know about werewolves?”I glanced at the blonde haired man before looking away.Werewolves. The name still rang true in my mind. Despite never saying it out loud, the thought of calling them that constantly came to mind. I always halted myself from doing so, however, the thought of referring to them as that seemed too unreal, yet… humanizing.I said nothing in response at first, shrugging.“Nothing much. I never paid attention to fantasy,” I finally said. From my youth, I had never liked the idea of the supernatural, the idea far too vague and fake for me to get into. Although I enjoyed media regarding magic, lore such as vampires, werewolves, fairies, kelpies and so on were never on my radar. Any little information I had gaied through it was practically gone. I thought they weren’t real afterall, and there was no point in dabbling in what wasn’t real.Present me was now heavily regretting my past decision.I'd expected… Well, I honestly didn't know what I h
