Emily’s POVWith the assistance of Camila, I had gotten into a cab and was headed back home. After being threatened by Camila, the cab driver kept his lips shut and all his concern to himself but that didn’t stop him from looking at me from time to time through the rear mirror. Camila had managed to clean the deep cut in my stomach where Blade—or should I say Jordan, his wolf—had attacked me. She had even helped me put a bandage over it but it had done little in alleviating my pain. Although the cab driver couldn’t see my stomach cut, the scary bruises on my hands and neck were enough for anyone to be worried. It was already late and I was sure that my family would be eating dinner by now, wondering how unfortunate they were to have someone like me as a part of them. All that didn’t matter right now. What I wanted was the comfort of my bedroom, the solitude of my personal space and definitely some painkillers in my bathroom and a calm and peaceful sleep to forget about everyt
Blade’s POVI woke up groaning in pain as the first thing I felt was a twinge in the lower part of my back. Then the next bundle of pain came right after from my forehead and when I reached out to it, I felt a bandage around my head. The door opened and although my sight was quite blurry, I could still make out the image of Camila. She had a good scent and was in a different outfit which was a good sign that things were getting better. “See who’s awake,” She said, cheerfully as she walked over to the shutters and opened them. I winced as the morning light caught me unaware and sent bells ringing in my head. “Are you okay?” She worried. “Should I shut it?” “No, it’s okay,” I said as my eyes began to adjust to the light. “I’m alright.”“That’s good,” She said, dropping the tray she had in her hand by the side of the bed. “I got you your favorite breakfast.” “Thanks, Cam but… I don’t really feel like eating anything right now.” She agreed with me. “That’s
BLADE'S POV The sound of the roaring train trembling along it's rail woke me up. That was how I woke up almost every morning, the only difference being that today, I wasn't in my room but was in a shabby dark-blue room with blinking blue and red lights at its corners and awkward portraits on the walls. I coughed out as the repulsive smell of cigar and drugs filled the air, making the whole room stuffy. Slowly, my mind went back to what had led me to this awful room and how I became naked under the bedspread— Jona, my colleague at work and bestfriend had persuaded me to come along with her to liven up and free myself from all the stress of work, and she had been absolutely right about the whole stress thing as I had worked my ass throughout the last two years. About taking me to a rough street club to release my stress, that was all Jona's idea. Although I felt really good, one million percent better now than I had felt in years. Had Jona been right after
Emily's POV You'll never understand the difficulty of being a middle child if you're not one yourself. Well, I've heard that quite a lot in the eighteen years I've lived and every time, I wished it applied to me as I was the middle child in the Austin family. When people heard of the Austin family, the first things that crossed their minds were, 'Wealth' and 'Class'. And people generally saw us as smug and arrogant fortunate kids. In school, we were called the 'perfect sisters'… well, before I ruined it all. My elder sister, Janet Austin was the neatest damsel in the world and was more organized than the library of congress. She always made sure she had the perfect hair, and followed the latest trends. She ensured that she obtained the newest bags and shoes and got the best grades in school. Next in line is Emily Austin… but I'm just gonna skip that and move forward to my genius younger sister, Sandra Austin who more than anything, detests her first name. Sandra is a c
BLADE'S POV The bus drove past the welcome signboard into Haven, a small town filled with low-income workers and happy farmers, with only a few businesses running and two commercial banks. Haven was indeed the perfect town for a pack to operate, with little or no suspicion from the locals and a whole lot of space in the virgin woods to hide and do whatsoever you want. Dexter was indeed one lucky alpha to own Haven. The bus stopped and everyone alighted. I got into a cab which took me straight home. Home was a huge castle-like building at the very end of the town, with trees surrounding it and the woods at its back. A normal person walking by would definitely be terrified by the building as it had frightening sculptures and statues everywhere but me, having grown up here, i found it rather appealing to see. I came out of the cab, after paying the driver and bading him goodbye. The cab driver who was obviously terrified by the building didn't waste
Emily's POVI was staring at the blank ceiling above me, with my hands wrapped around myself. The setting sun was amazing and normally I'd have been by the balcony staring at the twilight in admiration as I was really into nature. But today I didn't feel quite like myself. Was it because the reality of being with Dexter forever was dawning at me? Or was it because I just wasn't ready? The door to my room opened slightly and Janet's huge eyeballs peered at me. "Can I come in?" She asked, jokingly.I chuckled. "What if I say no?"She opened the door properly, walked in and shut it back. "How are you?" She asked."I'm great." I replied putting on a smile to conceal my anxiety. She sat beside me and held my hand. "Even your cute smile can't deceive me. I know when you're fine and when you're not. So, what's it?"I sighed. "It's Dexter."A huge smile appeared on Janet's face. "Somehow I knew it was going to be about him."I smiled. Janet had always shipped Dexter and I together even when I
BLADE'S POV I had been at the balcony staring at the beautiful constellations when she had walked towards the horsemen fountain which was one of my favorite artwork in the house and was also Dexter's most hated artwork. The cool breeze had swept her golden blonde hair across her face making her more enticing to my wolf. "Just stop it!" I snapped at Jordan. The fact that she wasn't terrified by the scary ten foot tall horsemen statues by the fountain made me develop an instant liking towards her. She reminded me of my Brianne, who had also been fascinated by the horsemen fountain. Brianne had loved it so much that she had spent most of her evenings watching the water fall righteously from the mouth of the horsemen down to it's basin. Funny enough, the first time I had kissed Brianne was by the same fountain. It had been snowing that night, and i could still remember me taking off the snowflakes that had fallen on her wild red hair which were lon
Emily's POVI grumbled as we waited patiently sitting on one of the chairs in the living room."Just hold on!" My mom scolded me. "He said he has something to show the pack. Be patient!""Great." I muttered. "Just when I thought this hell of a party was over."My dad gave me a warning look and returned his gaze to the Alpha who waited patiently for something… unknown to everyone."Oh, it's here!" Dexter said aloud as we heard the door leading to the other sections of the mansion open. Everyone's gaze was fixed on the passageway leading to the stairs, waiting in excitement to see what our Alpha had to present. And when I was beginning to think that our Alpha's surprise was a flop, I saw the hugest scare of my life. The whole hall fell into chaos as most people screamed and yelled in fear while others like myself stood speechless and motionless. It was a man. A man whose reputation spoke for itself. It was the legendary Alpha Blade, known in Haven as The Ripper."Hello." He said
