“Are you okay?” I asked Killian, walking toward him as Alvize and Ezra entered the vault. It seemed that no one aside from the D’Caprio family was allowed to enter, and considering the fact that I was neither Alvize’s official mate or his wife, I wasn’t allowed in.

“I don’t remember when was the last time anyone asked me such a question, but the last thing that I expected was for you to be the one who asked.

“Why not?” I asked as I looked up at the picture of Maria and Donatello. Maria looked sad in the picture despite the smile on her face, and though it was a drawing, I knew that the illustrator did their best to draw it as it was in reality.

“You, like everyone else, might just want me dead.” He stated, shrugging his shoulders as he crossed his arms over his chest. I could read the defeat in his tone and body language, and despite him being right, I couldn’t help but feel sorry for the Lycan.

“I do,” I said and he frowned. “But that doesn’t mean that I am not human inside.
