Chapter 1(Beautiful Soul)

The winter snows were melting in the forest of the Caribou and the red-orange Vermillion cliffs were streaked with melting frost. Deer were feeding in the forest glades among the shades of pine tree and fir and trout were leaping in the sparkling streams. A shadow moved under the pine, then was gone.

Five deer fed on the grass along the bank of the mountain stream of Caribou. Their coats were mottled with light and shadow of sunlight through the leaves.

It was very still water rippled around the roots of a tree where the soil had washed away and gurgled cheerfully among the rocks. A buck’s tail twitched and twitched again, and he lifted its regal head turning its nostrils to the wind and reading it cautiously, but the reading was a betrayal for the shadow under the Pines was downwind of him.

A faint breeze shifted through the grass and steered the leaves and with the breeze, the shadow moved into the sunlight and became a woman standing motionless now twenty feet from the nearest deer. Which was way behind the others.

Straight and tall she stood in denim shorts. She was wearing a hat her hair lean and red were loose her beautiful eyes were keen and watchful as she waited.......until the buck’s head lifted again looking straight at her.

A Startled snort and the buck sprang away and the others followed. The girl stood with her hands on her hips watching them go.

She knew who was disturbing her, so she lay low and then squatted on her heels glancing around the glade. She followed the buck slowly again and moved with speed hiding behind the pine trees and bushes any normal human being who saw her would think that she was a witch.

Finally, as she neared the buck and slowly grabbed him, he struggled. But as it had hurt his leg, he grunted for quite some time and finally gave up. She soothed his back with her hand and tied it to a tree.

“Hushhhhhhhhhhhhh.” She whispered then took out the medicine she had brought with her and applied it to his leg before tying it with a bandage. The medicine had an immediate effect and the buck now relaxed and did not struggle. But after some time, the effect of the medicine made him sleep.

So, she lifted the buck and walked towards her SkyScape.

Eros Glaros was standing and watching her sister chasing the buck and had tried to steer trouble, but she finally caught him. He smiled and walked towards her. Freya Glaros his only loving sister whom he doted on was very stubborn but he loved her anyway and was very possessive about her.

He observed her as she walked towards him. She was six feet tall with a tanned complexion and her eyes sparkled with love as she looked at the hurt buck. She was the epitome of goodness when it comes to taking care of people. But that did not stop her from going around the dense forest and taking care of the entire animal habitat.

 Only one thing always bothered him as to why her face and body were covered with hair. Since her birth. To the world she was ugly but for them, she was their dear Freya the Nobel girl.

His mother had tried to do numerous experiments to remove the hair from her face and body. She even tried to wax it and used chemicals, but it turned out to be very painful and she was hospitalized for weeks.

So no one experimented with her body and let her be the way she was. Loved by her family she did not need anyone’s sympathy and had grown into an independent woman. He had to go on and off for business lately but returned today to surprise her as it was a special day for her but she surprised him by vanishing into the dense forest before he came. He knew his sister was quite different from the normal girls and stayed far away from them. She only had one best friend Iris who was close to her but had gone abroad for her studies.

He followed her and tried to distract her but her speed left him awestruck as she moved pretty fast and caught hold of the deer. He had known about her abilities since she was a toddler. She had started walking after three months and grew taller than most of the girls of her age. Which was not normal at all but he knew why she was like that so he always took care of her.

He smiled and went and blocked her way.

“Freya, can’t you stay at home for one day and spare mum and dad the tension about your safety.” Eros made his serious and looked at his baby sister.

She stood at her spot and smiled at him with excitement and said, “Brother Eros when did you come? I did not know you were coming and besides this fellow needed my help so I came after him.” She said pointing at the deer.

"How did you know that this deer was hurt?" Eros asked briskly.

“Well you know how my sixth sense works I felt as if someone needed me and heard his grunted cry then I took the help of the new binoculars you had bought for me and saw that an alligator had bit him while he was drinking water from the stream. So, I rushed and came and did not get the time to inform mother. Is she worried?” she asked with a little worry in her voice.

No, but we better go home before Abba comes home or you will be in big trouble. You were told not to go outside today as there will be lots of people coming for your birthday.”

Eros moved towards her and took the deer from her kissing her on her forehead and said, “Happy birthday little sister.”
