4 - Show of Strength

I wake up feeling refreshed, jump in the shower and throw on a pair of ripped skinny jeans, a camo tank top and a jean jacket over it with my tan hiking boots.  I pull my hair up in a messy bun, knowing it won’t stay long, these curls have a mind of their own.  I skip makeup because hey that’s just who I am, I’m not a fashionista or a cover girl, I’m an Alpha and was raised to be confident in my own skin.

I walk into the chaos that is my family kitchen every morning and grab a cup of coffee and a pastry.

 My Aunt Cynthia smiles at me, “you do have good habits,” she eyes the pastry, and I grin at her as I shove it into my mouth and wiggle my brows at her.

Nonna laughs, “she buys them every day for you, just as an excuse to get her own,” she looks at Cynthia, “you taught her bad things, she should be eating healthier in the mornings.”

Cynthia scoffs, “Nonna Rose, it didn’t kill me yet, she’ll survive,” she laughs as she walks over and grabs the other pastry out of the box and shoves it in her mouth.

I kiss Nonna on the cheek, “I’m out, gotta get to the site before the construction crew arrives.”

My Momma walks in with my youngest sibling in her arms, and he yells, “ABI,” as he reaches his little arms out to me.”

I eye roll him and walk over, “you’re too old for Momma to be carrying you all around the house, be a big boy and do as your told,” I take him from Momma and snuggle him to me, he’s just turned 5 and acts like a toddler.

I put him down and smile at him, “go sit and Momma will bring you breakfast.”

I turn just as Gabe enters the kitchen, he grabs a sack from Nonna and kisses her on the cheek, “Thanks Nonna,” he grabs the keys to one of our SUV’s and looks at me, “well let’s go.”

I crease my brows at him, “I didn’t ask you to drive me or go with me for that matter.”

He chuckles and leans against the counter in front of me, “yesterday you announced to all your partners that you would be at the constructions site at 7am correct?”

I arch a brow to him and cross my arms over my chest, “correct, your point?”

He laughs, “which one of them do you think will be waiting for you to pull in?”

My eyes widen to him, he smirks at me, “exactly, so how am I supposed to get in his way, if I’m not there to do it?  Or has something changed from yesterday to today?” he arches his brow at me.

I gulp down my last bit of coffee, “let’s go.”

He smiles as he pushes off the center island and nods, “yea, this is why I’m your Gamma, always thinking about strategy and tactical warfare.”

Momma giggles at us and I narrow my eyes at her, she enters my mind, “be grateful he’s on our side.”

I laugh as I walk out the door and he follows twirling the keys around his finger, I snatch them from him, “you got shotgun, it will give you time to eat your breakfast, you can drive on the way back,” I grin at him and he nods.

We pull up and to our surprise not just one Alpha stands there but all three, Gabe chuckles, “guess you have a fan club Alpha.”

I snort at him, “well jokes on them now isn’t it.” 

He shrugs as he gets out of the car and runs to my side to open the door.  I get out and hand him the keys and whisper, “remember keep me from locking eyes with him, even if you have to jump me to do it.” 

He smiles at me, “remember you said that, Alpha.”

I grin at him as we walk up to the others, “now this is a surprise, but I’m not sure if it’s pleasant or not?”

Alpha Sebastian smiles wide, “pleasant I hope, I hired the construction crew so I wanted to make sure that they are aware that you are just as much vested in this project as I am,” he clears his throat, “well as we all are.”

I nod, “then it is a pleasant surprise that you are here,” I arch a brow, “but these other two,” I smile at him, and he blushes.  I didn’t notice before, but he is quite cute and that blush is adorable, gives him a boyish air and since I’m only 20 I can do boyish.  He runs his hand threw his wavy chestnut brown hair and the muscles in his arms flex as he does.

I smile sweetly at him and can’t help but comment, “Alpha Sebastian,” I coo at him, “that blush is adorable.” 

I feel my Gamma at my side instantly as a low growl comes from the same side, I tilt my head to Alpha Terrance, “and you Alpha is it pleasant or something ominous for your presence here,” I snicker.

He chuckles as he raises his hands in surrender, “just an observer, I wanted to be here to see you in action, call it curiosity but not ominous in any way.”

I nod, “fair enough and I believe we all know why Alpha Christov is here, but I’m sure it isn’t for pleasantries I’m afraid, and if his situation has not changed, he is sure to be disappointed.”  I notice several other cars at the far end of the site and walk away from the group.  As I get closer I see a man with a clip board and assume he is in charge, I walk over to him and smile, “Good morning, I’m Abigail Westfield, partner in this venture,” I stick out my hand and he takes it in a vice grip handshake, so I apply more pressure to my grip and his face reddens as I practically break his hand.  I let go and smile, “now that the show of power is over, can we get down to why I’m here or would you like to arm wrestle me next?” I arch a brow at him, and he shakes his head.  “Good, I’d like to go over what my expectations are and how long everything should take to get us ready for our opening.” 

I follow him inside the small site trailor, the engineer sits at small work station as we enter, he's an older human, his eyes look up at me over his laptop and he grunts.  I giggle inwardly, "this should be fun."
