You have all waited so patiently for this battle, the fight for the fate of the realm begins within the next two chapters. I will do my best to post chapters this week. It is a holiday week here in the USA, one of the biggest summer celebrations. There will be no chapter on Thursday the 4th of July. Please let me know your thoughts on the story so far, I hope you are enjoying it so far, and are you all still on the edge of your seat? We have two battle scenes coming up after that the main event!
TAWNY Frazzled. Panicked. Desperate. Scared. I felt all things at once and couldn’t concentrate. Thank Bastet Mason and Tomis had our warriors under control. Gillian and Tristan made calls to every kingdom on this continent. MacTire and Riocht were the closest but even they were more than a day out from where we had fought Senko. ‘From the place you severed my son's head’ That was what the old hag had said. I wasn’t trying to piece together the family timeline or how Senko could be Yggdrasil’s son. I didn’t really care. All I knew was that the dark army was coming for Seneca. They would stop at nothing until they had her and I was her only defense. Though the dark sorceress could be lying, I wasn’t about to take a chance. “I want half of our army deployed to Lewe, the rest need to guard Cambiador and the royal children!” I bark my orders to Mason, then to Tristan, I ask, “What have the other kingdoms said?” Tristan looks at me with sad blue eyes, “They are coming, but as you fear
PETRAIn my raven form, I fly as fast as my wings can beat, heading for Cambiador Palace. From this height, I can see the city far below and the land that surrounds the capital of the Werecat kingdom.I wasn’t sure what I could do if anything to help the immortal child. I had no fighting skills, and I was limited in the shapes I could shift into. Not only was I a young Skinwalker who hadn’t developed the wisdom or knowledge of shapeshifting into bigger animals, but my father had weakened me over the years by siphoning so much of my blood.I would still do what I could for Queen Lamia’s child. Not just for her but for Oliver too. I owed it to both Lamia and Oliver, for very different reasons but they had both become my family. Even though Lamia had been upset with me and ultimately forgave me, our lives had always entwined whether we knew it or not.The sun's rays shine down on my black wings heavily as I approach the city. Circling I can see the southern border, or what I assume to be
TRAVIS/JANUSLike a starved animal I shoveled food in my mouth. After being in the pool of water and emerging without a wolf, a fully changed being, my appetite was humongous, like I had never eaten before. The three sisters sat across from me, each with their chin in their palms, elbows propped on the table staring at me.“We’ve never met a true god before.” The raven-haired sister says. Her eyes roam the ink that litters my body appreciatively.“I’ve never met three nymphs before,” I reply with sarcasm not really caring. “Can all three of you teleport without the use of an object?” That I was curious about.Back in the day, I was able to move from realm to realm with the aid of the dagger that opens portals. The same dagger Rhett now had in his possession.“Nope.” The brunette answers, shifting in her seat and leaning closer. “You need all three of us. But Ashe, she can.” She speaks very quietly, so only I can hear. “We can only teleport inside the realm. But Ashe can go between rea
LAMIAPlans had been laid out; Chakor was sent to scout the area where he had found Crimson. We were waiting for the old Skinwalker to come back with news.Lyric was able to upgrade the dirt bike mufflers and add bafflers to make them much quieter. Warriors, soldiers, mercenaries, rogues, changelings, and hybrids had all been fashioned with weapons of one kind or another. The majority had been given communication devices so we could stay in contact and each division didn’t have to rely on mind linking to get orders across. It sounded so simple, so easy, and organized, but we were far from it. Already there had been fights among packs or groups who didn’t see eye to eye. Every warrior thought they were going to win this war. Every pack that had joined thought they were the best.We were down to fight or flight and despite the internal fighting, everyone was ready to fight to the death for this realm. The only thing all these kingdoms, warriors, and soldiers had in common was to save the
LAMIAAt first light, thousands of us began our march across the dry sandy terrain. There were not enough vehicles or buggies to carry everyone so only a few vehicles came with us. One carried the dirt bikes, and three others housed more weapons and medical supplies, which I was sure would be needed.Under the blazing sun, we walked. Mike, Rogue, and Crimson lead the East division. Tobias, King Rostam, and Jasper lead the North division. Then I, Mathias, Kellen, Hunji, Finn, and Rhett headed up the West division. We had more leaders on our side because most of us would break off and hopefully surprise attack Aodh before his army could rip through ours. The heat made us tired and weary; the lines were breaking formation. As long as they didn’t stray too far from their positions, I didn’t see the need to correct them. Hopefully, we would be able to make camp by the time nightfall came. There were only two races I felt for as we walked the hard ground closer to Regis Rock, the few humans
KELLEN The sky was a murky grey, the usual clear blue sky of this continent hidden behind an underlying forecast of war.I have been here before. Just not in this lifetime. Many moons ago as Conri I remember standing in the valley of the vast desert between the cities and the rocky formation that lay ahead of us.I was always even keel Kel, when I came back from the other realm, I was anything but. Slowly I had recognized and started to become the king I was before falling through the chasm.Today I welcomed the ruthless and unforgiving King, Conri was. I would need that brutality and vicious demeanor that lay beneath my skin and coursed through my veins. As a pup, I thought my path was clear, That I would follow in my father's footsteps. I had a vision of leading a peaceful kingdom, one my father had already paved the way for. All I would need to do was oversee the packs, the businesses we controlled, and commit to keeping a just and fair kingdom.I still wanted to be that King. But
LAMIAAodh’s army of darkness lined the crest of the valley standing between us and their master. Their forms grew closer as our army held their stance. I didn’t want to mobilize them just yet. I needed the dark army further away from where we assumed Aodh took position waiting until they had a clear upper hand before he came down from the rocks and cast his wrath upon us—striking when we were weakest. Not this time old foe. This time I was ready. At least I hoped I was.We had the dagger that could kill a god, and I had Travis who I prayed to the moon goddess would be where he was meant to be when the time came.Kellen was stronger and faster than Conri ever was, he was no mortal or a werewolf, no he is a Lycan and wolf. he had been bitten by me making him more powerful and faster than the average shifter.I look at our army, kingdoms, packs, clans, and clowders, joined today to save our realm. I tap into my power, the aura I carry of a queen, the powers I gained as the mortal goddess
HUNJIChakor came down in a tangled mess, the prey birds attacking him. Even from this distance, I could see the copious amount of blood that covered his winged form. His rider, Ava had been bitten in half.I heard myself yell out to my old mentor, but it was too late. The prey birds had pecked him apart.Death was a part of war. It was an unfortunate inevitable. Still, Chakor’s demise was felt. Since all this had begun so many years ago, he had always been by my side in one way or another. Even when he was in the guise of someone else, meddling in our lives due to orders from Ascena or Ashe, he was always straight with me.I knew why Crimson wanted to go to his aid because he had been saved by the old Skinwalker. He felt he owed him. I felt I owed him, but there was nothing that could be done. The battle raged on, I found myself even more compelled to diminish these dark forces. I had faced them once before and knew they were strong.Ava said their weapons were tipped in silver and we
