Chapter 229 Unrewarded Good Deed

Seeing Scarlett finally awake made his initially frosty expression warm slightly. He held up the bowl of hot chicken soup that he'd brought and took a sip to test the temperature. The soup was quite good, and since it had been in the open for a while, it was just the right temperature for her to drink comfortably. Now that he was satisfied with it, he picked up a spoon and prepared to spoon-feed Scarlett, but her arm shot out to take the bowl from him. She coldly said, "There's no need for that. I can eat myself."

Though the bowl of soup wasn't hot, she was also a patient who'd only just recovered from the effects of the drugs that Gracie had used on her. As such, her hand shook as she held the bowl of soup, making the soup slosh and the spoon rattle noisily as well. Seeing her own weak state irritated her, and she needed an outlet to release all her pent-up anger.

She took a sip of the soup and then placed the bowl back on the table as she mildly said, "The soup is too hot for me."
