CHAPTER SIX

   Henry left some hours later after eating the dinner I had prepared. Rita and I were in the living room. I was ironing my shirt which I will wear tomorrow while Rita was painting her toe nails.

  "Ehen..." Rita cleared her throat to get my attention "...so your boss is rude to you?"

  I looked at her and kept the iron on the floor "Rude? I can't say he's rude yet. I just resumed there, I have to at least work for sometime to know his attitude"

  "Um, do you know Eric Benjamin? I haven't seen him in real life but he's dead handsome"

  I rolled my eyes "I was not concentrating on his looks. In fact, we started off on a wrong foot"

  "How do you mean?"

  "You know the way I hate guys right now, especially the ones that do not respect women"

  "Hannah..." She looked at me with pity "...you shouldn't hate all the guys out there just because you had two bad relationships in university"

   "They are all the same, treating women like scum"

   "No be only you get ex"

   "Anyways, I saw my boss being rude to a lady outside the company building and I eyed him badly. He noticed it too"

   "Damn! He must hate you so much now"

   "I know right. I hope I survive but, from what I've heard about him, I don't know anymore"

"I follow him on I*******m, people normally say he's rude and too fly. He also does not treat his secretaries well. There was once a sexual assaulting rumor about him too"

   My heart started racing but I acted calmly.

   "I think it's just rumors sha, ladies will kill to be his lover or sex mate..."

   I huffed in annoyance "Who does that?"

   "....and I'm sure the rumor was caused by a bitter Lady who couldn't seduce him" She laughed "Wahala for who no sexy oh"

   I chuckled "I can't wait to receive my first salary"

   "Mad oh, Hannah you just resumed. Be calming down first" She suddenly began to whisper "So you work with the popular Eric. How is his office?"

  "Superb, I can't start explaining. I will have to wear long sleeves because of the air conditioners there"

   "You're lucky"

   "But my phone dey shame me small oh. The ladies I saw there, their make up, clothes, handbags, shoes and phones screamed money. I'm feeling ashamed but thank God I don't stay in the secretaries office"

   "You will get them"

   "What about your work?"

   "I'm tired of that supermarket"

   "You only manage it, it shouldn't be too much work"

   "I know, I just want to be at home instead. I don tire"

   "Don't be lazy"

   She hissed loudly "I've heard you. Abeg let me go to bed. I'm very tired" She stood up, carrying the nail Polish and left while I continued ironing my clothes.

   After I was done, I went to bed after making sure the door was locked.

   I had set alarm on my phone so I was able to wake up at 5am. I went to the kitchen and prepared tea. I walked to Rita's room and woke her up but she told me to leave her alone after checking the time.

   I entered the bathroom, did my business and came out with my towel wrapped around my body. I ate five slices of bread and drank the tea I made, then I quickly went back to my room to dress up.

   I wore a brown pencil skirt and white shirt. I left three buttons opened so I can look sexy since I was the CEO secretary after all. The skirt was a bit above my kneels, then I wore my heels, I let my hair fall on my shoulders this time and wore a silver wristwatch, necklace and earrings. I applied my make up, kept my phone, the manual, my notepad and pen in my bag then dashed out of the house.

  It was 6:23am when I got to the company. There was no one downstairs, it's normal though since the resume time is before 8am at least. I had to be here early because of my boss.

   I realized I was too early but I loved it. I noticed Mrs.Badmus was already in her office so I passed and took the elevator to the last floor. The cleaning services were doing their work. I pushed in the password of the door and entered the office. The office looked very clean and my boss table was cleared unlike yesterday.

   I went to my desk and checked his schedule, he had no meetings. I went to the article I had saved earlier on how to be a good secretary.

   "I should tell him his schedules before the D-day and always remind him of it" I read it loud.

   "That's not hard" I scrolled down a little "Keep a good relationship with your boss"

   I hissed "Who wrote this thing sef?"

   I went back to his schedule and saw he had a meeting with two directors from another company on Friday. I did a quick research on the people he was meeting. I used past employees complaints and discovered that one of them was quite proud. The other was too quiet and agreed to everything easily.

   I brought out my notepad and wrote down my observations, I went through the other schedules and did my researches. After I was down with the schedules for that month alone, my notepad was already filled up.

   Someone knocked at the door and I opened it. A cleaning service worker entered to clean the office. I permitted him and went back to my desk to do researches about the profit statistics of the company. I checked the manual and saw details of things I need to do and check every morning.

   The cleaning service worker left after some minutes. I could already hear some ladies greeting themselves with screams from the secretaries office.

   My boss entered and I stood up.

   "Good morning, sir"

   He nodded and went to his desk, placing his briefcase on the table. I noticed he didn't knot his tie.

   "Boss..."

   He turned and looked at me. I walked up to him and helped him knot his tie. We were so close to each other but my focus was on the tie, I didn't realize he was staring at me all along.

  I looked up and our eyes met.

   Something I discovered, he was more than handsome. This man is beautiful.
