An obnoxious white wolf came out of nowhere. I took a step back as she sauntered toward me, a grimace plastered all over her face as if she was going to pop up the hell outta me.
"Accept who you are, Aksha."I nodded in panic."Welcome, Aksha Beatrix Aslenovie."I catch a glimpse of my hands, turning into white hairy legs. Or was I imagining things? A howling voice echoed in the forest as I opened my eyes. Why does it feel…different?I darted my eyes at the woman in front of me. Why does it look like she became taller than earlier?"How does it feel, Aksha? It was delightful to know that you accepted your wolf that fast."What is she blabbing about? Wolf? My nerves quivered as I recalled the white wolf's eagerness to be close to me. I don't want to be intimidated by it, it's just that this dream feels so natural. What if that wolf devours me alive? I'm not afraid of dying, it's the thought of departing the earth because of a mythical beast that makes me pee in my pants."You're not dreaming," Lunaria declared. "The wolf you met in your consciousness is yours. She's your other half.""Are you crazy?" I unbelievably asked. She waves her hand and a mirror appears in front of us. My forehead creased as I walked closer to it.Four legs…White coated fur…Two big ears…A tail…What the hell?!"W-who's that?" I mumbled nervously. "Why am I seeing a d-dog?""That is your real form.""A dog?" I spat. "Are you kidding me?"I scratched my nose and realized that the dog in the mirror also did what I did. She looks like a reflection to me now that it is synchronizing my movements. I tried to nod my head, and it also did!"It's not a dog, Aksha. That's a wolf.""W-what?""That is your reflection."I stared at it. "T-that's the wolf I saw earlier! I-impossible."Lunaria smiled as I took a quick look at her reflection. It's complicated for me to process everything, so please wake me up! I need to wake up now. This is crazy!"This is not a dream, Aksha. You're a wolf."Her words reverberated at the back of my head. I turned at her, shaking my head abruptly. Is she mad?"Please, tell me this is not real," I begged."This is real, Aksha. You're a wolf, this isn't a lie nor imagination.""No! Shift me back to my normal form!" I wailed. "I'm not a wolf! I don't expect to be one. Please, change me back. You cursed me! I don't want to be a monster, I want a normal life. I want to wake up!"A flicker of pain crossed her eyes but she remained still. "Wolves aren't what you presume they are. I created them to be the world's greatest protectors. They are lovely, and the devotion they allot is much more than you give as a human. Once they are emotionally attached to someone, no one can gauge the amount of love and care they will show. They might be cruel but that is because they loved too much.""They ate a human body! It's all over the news. So don't try reversing the reality that I know. Because I will never acknowledge this fate of mine!" I roared. This tremendous event…I don't want to be convinced about it. Yet the other side of my mentality wanted to."Your origin can't modify everything."Her words struck me. What really am I? Who are my parents?Lunaria heaves a sigh as she waves her hand. I covered myself as I shifted back and instantly grabbed my clothes on the ground, and ran toward a huge acacia tree to put on my clothes. It terrifies me to learn that I can change into what they call a 'monster'.---------------------------------It's been three days since that fantasy happened. When I got back that day, my friend and our boss bombarded me with some questions that were left unanswered by me. I didn't know what to react or tell to them, I simply found myself sitting in a chair while they were divulging to me how much I made them worry. That incident still bothers me. Especially now that the metamorphoses of being a wolf are getting worse as days pass by.I began to crave more meat but I resisted eating those. The contact lenses that I'm wearing can't actually conceal the fact that my eyes are glowing every time the moon shines brightly at night. I also tried dyeing some of my golden hair strands, yet it only kept coming back the next day I woke up. The only thing that I find good is that I didn't shift into a wolf again. If I did, Feyra would freak out. I am really one of those beasts?"Hey, Aksha." I glanced at Feyra. "You seemed preoccupied by something. I keep calling your name third time now.""I'm sorry."She shook her head and handed me the tray with two coffee and slices of cheesecake. "Serve these on table ten. And please stop overthinking, Aksha. You are making me anxious."I only nodded and smiled at her."You have some gold hair. Are those natural?" asked the girl in red as I put their orders over the table."Sort of."She stared at me, more on studying my whole existence which made me feel awkward."That's awesome. You know, it's rare to see a unique inherent hair color. I love it.""You think so?" This is not amazing, for me, this is a curse. She grins. "Of course. Look, I have some red hair strands."My jaw dropped as she showed me the red strands. It looks natural like mine. How come? The side of her lips rose, sending chills down my spine."What…""Your blood is aromatic. I wonder if it tastes sweet too."I stepped back as I saw how her eyes ignited, her orbs turned bright red which made me swallow hard."H-have a nice coffee time with the both of you," I uttered and immediately left their table even though I heard their laughter. It's not fun. If I'm not mistaken, they're vamps…vampires! My head's gonna explode in no time. First the goddess itself and her magic, second, the wolfy stories—or rather me as a wolf. And now this? Vampires? In the middle of the afternoon? Aren't they supposed to be hiding, far from the sun? This information is hard to process.Fantasy stories turned out real? Who the hell would think that?! I'm slowly losing my sanity right now, I swear!Hi! I'm sorry for making you wait. But thank you to those who are reading, and waiting for the updates. Hope you'll like it! Thank you.
"What really troubles you, Aksha? I've been observing you ever since you entered our shop earlier," Mr. Ty asked. "I'm sorry, Mr. Ty. It's just that…some things really bother me." I bit my lower lip, diverting my gaze to Feyra's who is busy getting the customer's orders. It's kinda embarrassing to have a nonbusiness conversation with our boss right now. "If that really frustrates you that much. Then face it, look for a solution—or rather know the cause of your situation. The thing that bothers you will always haunt you if you only set aside it." He sighed and patted my head. "Your problem must be tough to deal with to the point that it keeps distracting you." "I'm sorry." He smiles at me. "It's fine. Let's get back to work." It's just that, the problem is…supernatural. Instead of attending to the customers in line, I walked straight to the comfort room and locked the door. Staring at my reflection in the mirror, I removed my contact lenses and untied my hair. My skin became fair
It's as if we have a staring match here, the brown wolf looks confused at me. I'm assuming that he's thinking how on earth I understand their wolf language. "Let me try again. Can you understand me, human?" I bobbed my head. "Yes, clear as water." He took a step forward which made me step backwards."Wait! Stop right there or…or…" I scanned the area and grabbed a thick stem. "Or I'm going to hit you with this stick!" He scowls at me. "Do you think I'm some kind of scaredy cat?" He stepped again. "How come you understand me? Are you a wolf? If so, what color? Don't try to trick me, little human. I have my own ways to identify if you're lying." "I'm a white wolf," I responded. But instead of seeing a satisfied wolf, he went ballistic as he jumped on me. Pinning both of my arms on the ground. "What is your problem, Wolfie? It hurts!" "You're lying." He squinted his eyes. "You are one of them, right? What are you up to, Viloscarian?" Huh? My brows furrowed. "What do you mean by Vil
I sneezed as the pixies showered me with some glitters for the final outcome of my dress. I'm wearing a white glittery ruffled dress that is above my knees, white sandals, and my hair is braided by Azaloeri. She also put some light make-up on me. According to her, the make-up was brought by her to the mortals' world which made me smile. She's so cute and innocent. "Gorgeous!" I grimaced as I heard the pixies' chuckle while Azaloeri retouched my hair and face. When we are finally done, the pixies bid their goodbye. Azaloeri guided me on the way to the Misagonia River, and explained that the ceremony of being a member of this pack will be held there. "You know, this is my first time meeting a goddess-like wolf like you, Aksha. And it makes me shy, though I'm quite talkative. I just want to be honest that I still feel a bit of embarrassment while talking to you, especially when staring at your gorgeous face. You also remind me of Lunaria when I first met her during the wolf ceremony."
I smiled and watched the sparkling dust in the midst of the night, swaying in the air, while the chirping sounds of the crickets echoed in every corner of the forest. The moon lights the surroundings, making the dust glow more as the pixies start dancing. Despite an overflowing calmness, I still can't deny the fact that I still miss him. It has been five months. But still, we can't find him. All the hopes I have now are at stake, and the vision of him lying down on the floor, soaked in his own blood, makes me terrified. “Don't overthink, Aksha. I'm sure that he's still alive,” Bia, the pixie in pink, wearing a cute tootie dress and had her hair in a ponytail, said firmly.“I know. But what if things go—” My words hung frozen as I saw a ball of fire coming our way, which made me push the pixies away with my remaining prowess. The fireball’s landing sent shockwaves through the air, shaking the ground which reverberated through my insides.“Bia!’’ I screamed as I hid behind a huge roc
AKSHA BEATRIX ASLENOVIE (Present) “Aksha…” I followed a melancholic voice. “Who's there?!” All I can see is…nothing, it's as if I'm in some kind of a cell where everything is black, and it's kinda suffocating. “You need to feel it…” “Feel what?!” I asked back. With a trembling body, I tried harder not to fall on my knees. “Who are you?!” “We will meet soon…” That's when I heard a sound that took me back to the waking world. I heaved a sigh and shut off the alarm. What a weird dream. I lazily sat up in my bed with barely open eyes. The beam of sunlight reflected in the window hit my face. Annoyed, I stood up and did some stretching before going downstairs. I still need to do some preparation before setting off to work. But I can't contain the fact that my body is aching, now that I am completely awake. It was because of the packages we picked up yesterday. In total, there were three packages which were filled with new cups and saucers for the coffee shop. Emi
The coffee shop is now packed because of the event in Hasila Museo, one of the famous attractions here in Easparian. The Museum will have an outreach program for the Madriato Orphanage by hosting an auction. As far as I know, some of the items that they're gonna auction are ancient porcelain, jewelry, and paintings of some notable artists. But the main thing in that event that even tourists crave to have is the Map of Colambi during the 15th century because it consists of the remarkable spots that were known to be enchanted. I've never been to an auction before but I know how the bidding works. If you're the highest bidder, the item will be yours. "Here's your coffee, Ma'am," I placed a cup of frappuccino on her table and smiled at her. She didn't bother to look up at me since she was busy typing on her phone and only muttered a thank you. "Miss." I was about to go back to the counter when a brown-haired guy called me at the corner with a smirk on his face. He looks like a rockstar
What is happening to me? Is it normal to have hairy palms? I rubbed my eyes, trying to wake myself up, hoping that this was only a dream. But the hair is still there which makes me disturbed. When did it grow? This is crazy!Instead of screaming out my confusion, with trembling hands, I instantly opened the hanging cabinet and grabbed the razor out of panic. This isn't normal! Who would have a kind of palms like this? It is acceptable that hair can grow thicker in my arms, but not in this area. Why didn't I notice it earlier?I started shaving my palms, reminding myself that all of this is normal. The unsteady feeling almost smashed me. As soon as I finished it, I put back the razor on the cabinet. "Aksha!" An abrupt knock startled me.“Aksha, are you done? I need to pee now.”“Yes! Wait a minute.”I put the razor back on the cabinet as I fixed myself before going out of the bathroom. “Thanks!” Feyra blurted out and immediately got inside the bathroom. We do not usually eat dinner
I don't know what's on my mind, I just found myself walking deeper into this forest. It's gloomy, and the only light here is coming from the m oon. What if something happens to me? Like what happened to that vlogger? However, thinking about those wolves' things, monsters, or whatever they called it makes me the biggest joke in the universe. They aren't real. It's just that, I'm curious where those howls came from earlier. Is there someone here, a psycho maybe, playing a radio, or does he have a huge sound system to make it real and audible in the whole town of Colambi? I quickly snatched the thick stem on the ground as I kept going. I'm getting far from the road so there's no turning back, and I should verify my theories about that incident. If I figured out that I was right, I'd smack it to the face of my friend—kidding aside. What if I saw a rite here? You know, something like witchcraft or encountering some cannibalistic humans.I swallowed hard as the air embraced me with its c
