Noah arrived with the sun setting. He walked out of his car and went inside the huge villa. He found no one welcoming him. It was oddly quiet. He wrinkled his nose and looked at his phone. It's a weekday, so helpers should be around by this time.
He walked around the place and finally found an old woman carrying a tray of cookies. She recognized him immediately and greeted him. "What are you doing here, sir? If you would let me ask,"
"Where is that woman?" he hurriedly asked.
"That woman? Oh, you mean your wife, sir?" She laughed awkwardly. She was confused for a moment but smiled at Noah.
'My wife? Hah! She's going around announcing that absurd thing?'
"Forget it. Lead me to her," she simply nodded and led Noah to the garden where Averill was staying. They are meters away from it, but Noah can visibly hear the laughter from the place. He felt light in his heart, and surprisingly, it catches his attention.
At the sight, the woman who caused him so much dilemma is laughing with all the other employees he thought was on leave. They were having fun under the golden ray of sunset, with all the flowers that filled the air with redolence.
"You're kidding, right? He couldn't possibly be-- Oh, N-noah," when their eyes met— Noah felt an uncanny familiarity with her golden eyes.
Her eyes that was already golden were even more beautiful with the sun beaming on it. Her hair gently flying with the warm breeze of air, she stood up, and before Noah could even realize it— she was already standing in front of him.
"Noah?" he was back to his senses upon hearing her soft voice. He faked a cough and stepped back. Averill noticed his uneasiness but remained silent on that matter.
'Why did he come here? Did his mother tell him to visit me?' she thought to herself, but fantasies aren't really great when you're an adult. Noah made a glare and dragged her in the wrist.
She flinched, it hurt her, but Averill remained silent. She let him drag her inside the villa. When they reached a place where no eyes were around– Noah let go of her wrist. His brows furrowed upon seeing the red mark his hands left on the already thin, pale wrist of Averill.
But Noah remembered his agenda. The annoyance in him resurfaced when he saw her face calmly looking at him. 'Why are you her twin?' he thought.
"Why did you take it?" he coldly asked her, trying to calm himself. He remembered Karl mentioning that her pregnancy was sensitive. He can't risk his child with this small matter.
Averill did not answer him. She simply stared at Noah, waiting for another word out of his mouth. Noah's patience grew thin. Averill was just staring at her. She even tilted her head to one side, looking at him confused.
"Averill, my time is precious. Just answer my question," he tried staying calm, but there was already a hint of annoyance in his tone.
"What are you talking about?" she asked. Really clueless as to what the man is asking him. Did she make another mistake? Did she take something she didn't has to? What could possibly make the man drive all the way here to ask her something?
Noah sighed sharply, massaging the bridge of his nose. He placed his other hand on his waist and shifted his weight before finally facing the woman he was starting to hate again.
"The modeling contract. I heard you signed to agree to model for my company. Why did you do that? Aren't you aware that Yanna should have had it?" he helplessly asked her again. Averill was stunned. She had no idea that her twin was supposed to sign the contract offered to her a few days ago.
She outrightly agreed to it upon hearing that the wedding issue caused an uproar in Noah's company, and it got a hit from it. She just wanted to help since her reputation rose even higher after a month, even without showing much in public.
She stayed silent and stared at him. Averill doesn't know whether to tell him the truth or just receive his criticism because no matter how much she explains herself, she knows she'll never get good feedback from this man.
Noah clenched his jaw. He sighed and turned his back from Averill. "Forget it," he walked upstairs, leaving Averill dumbfounded.
'Why did I even rush here to ask that wench? Of course, she'll want to snatch everything from Yanna. Damn it.' he let himself drown in sleep in his room to let his mind rest even for a moment.
Noah woke up with darkness filling the room. The thunder and harsh sound of rain are also filling the place. He stared out the window for a while. He never likes the rain.
He used to like it when he was young, but after that tragic incident, he hated it.
Noah reached for his phone and saw numerous missed calls from Yanna. He tried calling her back, but the poor service did not let him do so. There's no connection at all. He went downstairs, but it was chaos down there.
All the staff is running around, doing stuff from here to there. Noah grabbed a man's arm to ask him.
"Oh sir, you woke up. The huge tree in front of our yard fell because of the lightning and blocked the gate. The wires are all tangled, and the electricity was cut off earlier. We just happen to have a generator ready. That is why we do have electricity as of the moment," he explained. Noah nodded and looked outside the huge glass wall.
The gate could be seen from there, and there was indeed a huge tree blocking the path. 'How can I go home tonight? I'd be staying in this place at this rate,' he let his body fall to the couch as he looked at his phone.
Still, no service, Even the internet connection isn't working at all. The storm continued raging that night. Loud bangs of thunder could be heard inside the villa.
"S-sir," a young maid approached him. He simply looked at him, but the young woman instantly froze. His obsidian eyes scared the hell out of her and made her back down. But upon remembering why she approached the scary billionaire, she gulped and bravely looked at him again.
"S-sir, y-your wife," she stuttered. Noah stayed looking at her with disinterest, especially when he heard the word 'wife,'
He loathes the fact that they knew he was married to that cunning woman. What an outrageous maid to approach him, for that matter. He fixed his posture and put his phone on the table near him.
"What about her?" he coldly asked. The maid stared at him and swallowed a huge amount of saliva before regaining her courage. "She's been staying inside her room since the storm started. It has been three hours, and she needs to eat her dinner now, but no one's answering when we knock on the door."
"Why did you not open it instead?"
"T-the master key was given to her by the madam last time, and we do not have any copy of it. Another maid tried earlier and what she heard from the inside was silent screams and cries alone. We're worried about Ms. Averill. I think she really needs you right now,"
Noah remained silent. He couldn't think of something about the matter. He stood up, "Lead the way,"
When they arrived in front of the room. The maid left to help others who were busy because of the storm. Noah faced the huge block of wood in front of him and finally tried knocking.
No one answered. Noah knocked again, but it had been a minute, and still, no one was answering.
"Averill, open the door," he switched his approach. He tried calling her name, but still, minutes passed, and no one answered. The rain was too loud, and the thunder was all he could hear. Noah placed his ears on the door— closed his eyes— carefully trying to hear what Averill must be doing.
He gritted his teeth when he heard a woman crying inside. There are occasional screams along with the loud thunder. 'Shit. What the hell is wrong with you now? Acting? Will you go on to this extent just to get my attention?'
"Averill! Averill! Open the door, Averill!" he knocked harshly, but still, Averill wasn't responding.
"Shit. AVI!! AVERILL!! Answer me!" he looked around. There could be something he could do. Noah cursed under his breath before finally tried kicking the door.
"Averill!!" He tried kicking it again, but the engineer did a great job in their villa. It was a hard one to take down.
Nonetheless, he kicked and kicked and kicked the door while shouting Averill's name. And after minutes, he finally took down the door, and with his aching feet that he didn't even notice, he took huge strides inside the dark room.
There, he saw Averill curled up in one corner, covering her ears while crying. She looked like a child who was scared of something.
"Come on, Averill. Stand up," he told her when he stood in front of her. Averill did not respond and continued covering her ears. "You're really testing my patience. Enough with this childish play. You need to eat for the baby," he reached for her arm and forced her to stand up.
Contrary to what he expects, Averill didn't go against him. It was dark inside, and he could not really see her face. He sighed sharply and helped her stand up straight. Averill remained silent, crying. 'She's continuing the act?' he annoyingly looked at her, but his expression changed when the lightning lit the room up, showing Averill's face.
Her eyes were blood red, her lips were chapped, and her hair was tangled. Averill looked like a mess, but a mess that was pitiable. Like a child crying for help, she couldn't even look at his eyes straight.
She's still inside her nightmares, and when the thunder roared once more, along with the lightning. Noah witnessed her scared face, trying to hide from something.
'Is this acting?'
"Averill?" he called her, but she did not respond. "Avi? Hey! Avi, you hear me?!" he shouts at her. Averill flinched and stared at his obsidian eyes. Tears fell from her eyes as she remembered something warm inside her.
All the nightmares subsided, the loud noises inside her head went silent, she... Averill could only see Noah's worried face. She then made a small smile, "N-Noah, y-you c-came," her voice was hoarse.
Noah's brows furrowed upon seeing her calm stature. 'So was it acting to get my attention? Tsk,' he let go of her and turned around, but before he could walk away, she held the hem of his shirt.
"D-don't g-go. I'm s-scared," she whispered. Noah sighed. He faced her again and stared at her weak stature. He gently carried her like a bride. Averill couldn't even refute it. She was too tired and she... she felt really warm inside his arms.
Averill rested her head on his chest. She did not even notice how Noah froze at the sudden gesture.
'I guess I'm stranded here tonight,'
Noah opened her eyes when the ray of sun landed on it. It's morning. And the weather is already calm. He looked around the room and found a beautiful woman— sleeping beside him. Her long lashes cast a shadow on her face when the sun's rays visited it. 'Last night...' Noah doesn't know what to feel about what happened last night. *** The staff running around stopped when they saw Noah carrying Averill down the stairs. They looked like a fantasy couple, like a prince who saved the princess from war. They all smiled inside their hearts before continuing what they were doing. Noah went straight to the dining and carefully placed her on her seat. He was about to leave, but Averill did not let go of her. "Must I feed you now?" he sarcastically asked. No one was inside the dining but the two of them. "The utensils are too heavy for me," she told him. Averill let go of his shirt before trying to eat by herself, but her weak wrist gave up. The spoon fell on her lap along with the hot porri
As Leah had told them, after a week, they both moved into the new mansion that Noah's parents had bought. It is a huge one for Noah's preference. He's a minimalistic type, and all the fancy decorations, paintings, sculptures, and luxurious displays that welcome them in the hallway give him a headache. Noah hands his coat to the maid that reaches for it before heading upstairs. There is a lot of room, it's a two-storey mansion, but the land it occupies is quite big. 'Why would they buy this big of a mansion when we'd only have a child?' Noah checked each bedroom before proceeding to the master's, as he presumed. There's one huge bed in the middle, and unlike the interior downstairs, the room suits his taste. Everything inside is how he wants a room should look. The colors were neutral, almost the earthly ones. There are few plants that accented the place, and the huge glass window with thin curtains from the ceiling down to the floor is just perfect for his preference. The only t
After the meeting ended, Karl gave Noah his next agenda. The latter gave him a glare before walking to his office. Karl was left dumbfounded. He was just doing his job of reminding him that he still got plenty of meeting to attend to that day, but he glared at him? Is this a sign to finally resign? He sighs, remembering the amount Noah's paying him. 'It's too good of a catch for me to just let go. Few more years, Karl. Few more years,' he tells himself until he reaches his boss's office only to find Noah packing his things. Karl looks at his newly bought wristwatch, 'This can't be broken, I just bought this last Wednesday! So, are my eyes fooling me? Is the workaholic Noah really packing his things at 4 in the afternoon?!!' he could not get his eyes off Noah until the latter gave him a soft punch on the side. "What are you looking at? Follow me, you'll drive for me. I didn't bring my car," he walked out of the office, leaving Karl speechless. "Where should I bring you?" "To the ne
Yanna stayed at the hospital because of the sprain. It is not that serious of an injury, but she feels like she'll lose her ability to walk if she simply goes home that very day. On that note, Noah admitted her to the VIP room, just beside Averill, without her knowledge. He needs to check on her and his child from time to time. He hates the idea of looking after Averill, but he can't risk the chance of losing the child she is carrying. Yanna was laughing heartily when Noah arrived from next door. His expression did not change much, even at the sight of the woman he loved. He lets himself on the same bed as Yanna and lies down beside her while the latter is watching her favorite television show. She looked at Noah for a second before going back to the show. It's a hilarious comedy show that she always watches to pass the time. She has been watching it since they were kids, and it never gets old for her. Noah's head starts to hurt because of the loud television, and eventually reach
Averill got discharged after a week. She never saw Noah after their talk on the first night of her confinement. Kieffer visited her that night and gave her her favorite flowers as well as her favorite fruit, strawberries. Though she's grateful for her friend, Kieffer scolded him that whole night. Luckily, Ken and Sam are on their trip to Asia. They won't be around for months, but they promised to be back by the time the baby comes out. "I can carry that myself, Kieffer," she reached for the small bag, but Kieffer put it above his head. He indirectly mocked Averill's height with his six-foot-tall stature. And even taller because he tiptoed to raise the bag as if Averill's 5'11" could reach it. She gave up and went inside the mansion. "Hey! I was just kidding," he laughs and gently guides Avi going upstairs. Averill looked around the mansion. Like Noah mentioned, the number of helpers was reduced. She doesn't know whether she'd be glad about it. She's not close with them, but she t
Averill was stunned, her pupils dilating as she tasted a bittersweet in her mouth when Noah's tongue forced its way into it. Noah's not in his right mind. He's too drunk at the moment, and Averill knows this is another mistake. She knew, but she could not stop him. Noah's hands snaked around her waist and lifted her, pinning her to the wall. He continues kissing Averill, not stopping even a second. His hands hold her tight and carry her to the bed, gently throwing her as if he's aware that she's pregnant and in a delicate state. "I am Averill, Noah. Not Yanna. Stop this before you regret it," she pleads between their kisses, but Noah does not stop. His obsidian eyes stare at her, and no sign of uncertainty is written on them. "Noah, ugh," Averill moans as Noah kisses her neck, sucking it, biting her arm, and gently holding both her hands to the side. 'No, this is wrong, Averill. But... how could it be wrong when we're married? Nah, you're deceiving yourself, Avi. He'll surely get
Averill's POV I did not sleep that day. After learning about Allen's accident, I threw away all my medals and locked myself inside my room. I heard he was still fighting in the hospital right now, but I could not get myself to go there and root for him. It's my fault. He died because of me. I know he hates me now. He won't want me to be there with him. Allen must be mad at me right now. I hate myself too. If only I did not ask him to come, he would not drive that fast and gotten himself in an accident. It is all because of my selfishness. Because I tried asking for something I should not have. I should have been happy going by myself. I was used to that, so why did I ask him? He got into that fucking accident because of me. All because of his selfish sister, whom he loves. I slumped to the floor and covered my ears. I don't want to hear the raging thunderstorm outside. It's like telling me to go on and hate myself more because someone is suffering because of what I did. Becau
Yanna takes another pasta into her mouth and nods in assurance. "It really tastes the same! This sure tastes better since I'm certain that you ordered it from a restaurant, but Averill's cooking is similar," Noah stares at her, thinking about what to reply. "I didn't know Averill cooks quite well," "She sure does! I was inspired by her when we were in high school and even opened a restaurant because of that!" "Why did she not open a restaurant, though?" Noah asks. "Well, she pursued a different path after she graduated. She never really talked with me much after we got together. Ahh, right. You only saw her again after your therapy in the States, right? She never came with me when I invited her," she pouts and takes a sip from her glass. Noah did not comment on that. He knew Yanna after she approached him in America. He moved there with his family after the kidnapping incident, and he was under various therapy because of the trauma he got. Yanna approached her, and he felt a fami
Noah woke up early and left the villa before even Averill got up from bed. He left a note on the table and a massive box in the living room. He drove to a building not too far from the villa he bought. “You look relaxed. Are you even sure about this?” Karl asked him. Brian and the gang are also there, preparing for Noah’s wedding. The man in his white tuxedo smirked, “Never been sure in my whole life, Karl.” “Tsk.” He went to his stylist and asked for a perm. Brian went beside Noah and tapped his shoulder, “You need to buy me a yacht if she doesn’t say yes.” “That woman loves me. You buy me twenty-five percent of the shares in your new business.” “That’s pretty— tsk, deal. Might as well be your wedding gift.” He followed and excused himself after receiving a call. Noah smirked, realizing who called his casanova friend. “Clayton,” “I will attend your marriage. I just need to finish this.” “That’s why you should have told her what you felt.” He stared at Noah and ignored him after
Averill’s POVI was busy reading through the reports about my hotel. I had left it to Leon for a long while. Funny how I told him he was fired, but he kept coming to the company and managed it while I was busy doing things for myself. I would have never come this far without him.“Coffee?” Leon asked. He placed a hot coffee macchiato on my desk. He could pass as a barista, if not a lawyer. I thanked him without looking at him because my eyes were still busy reading. I can’t help but focus on these things.“I heard about his proposal,” I stopped scanning through the files, looked at him, and smiled. I raised my brows, waiting for what he would say next. “Why did you reject him?”“Do I need a reason not to?”“You love him—”“How’d you know that?” I smiled. Leon stared at me before looking away, putting down his coffee. “When you fired me, you were too emotional. Aren’t you being emotional as well when you rejected his marriage proposal? I thought you loved him and that you sacrificed
“I love you,” Noah muttered as he kissed her deeply. He kissed her passionately, moving his lips gently as he caressed the back of her head. Noah continued until the two of them were out of breath. He stared at her golden eyes, “I love you, Avi.” he repeated, claiming her lips once more. “I love you,” he whispered between their kisses. Averill tried to push him, but he gently pulled her to his chest. He hugged her and buried her face in his body. “I love you.” Again, he told her. Averill still has yet to respond to him. Noah loosened the hug as he gently held her shoulders.Noah looked at her and wiped the tears that fell from her eyes. His thumb gently against her cheek as tears fell from his pitch black eyes as well… like crystals under that sunny afternoon… they cried.“A-Are you c-crying?” Niana approached the two of them. Noah and Averill looked at their daughter, who was also about to cry, confused as to why her parents were weeping. They smiled, gently slipping their hands agai
Noah’s POV I stared at my daughter, sleeping soundly on my lap. She had played all day with the dog we brought from Hawaii. We’re currently in the UK. Thankfully, she wasn’t looking for her mother much. I just won’t have any more excuses had she asked once more. I have a hunch on where Averill might be, but I want to give her more time. I don’t know why she had not even met with Niana. I know she loves our daughter. I know she loves her with all her heart and won’t abandon her. No way that is not the Averill that I know. The Averill that I fell in love with has so many flaws… but she’s not an irresponsible mother. She’s sometimes selfless to the point where even I would pity her helplessness. Averill is a woman who would not care even though she’s hurt. And she’s also the type of woman who would stand firm if anyone vital to her was hurt. I did not love her because she was perfect but rather because she was so perfectly imperfect that even though her flaws were visible, her pure
Averill woke up with someone stroking her hair. “Noah?” Surprised, she saw Noah beside her, sitting on the bed. Looking at her, smiling with his teeth. “Good morning, Avi.” “Avi?” Averill looked at Leon, who was currently feeding her. It had been a day since she was admitted. She fainted after donating blood to Noah while she was injured. “Did Noah wake up?” Leon shook his head. He tried feeding her again, but Averill looked away. “You need to eat.” “I did my best. Why is he not waking up?” “His body needs rest, Averill. And you do too. Eat, I am begging you.” “I’m not hungry.” Leon sighed at her response. After fainting from fatigue, she did not sleep a wink overnight. She would have stayed by Noah’s door if she had not fallen to the floor. Waiting for the man to wake up. Noah’s grandfather came later that evening. He deliberately stopped Averill from coming to Noah’s room. He was so mad when he heard what had happened to his grandson. “I told you enough to get away from my
Leon drove as fast as he could when he heard the news about Averill. He could not believe they had just left the woman there. He heard about Noah’s condition but still! Was it too hard to get the woman as well? Leon parked recklessly in front of the cafe. Some men barged in his direction, attacking him with metal pipes, but he was way faster than these men. He punched and kicked and pushed… It took him five minutes before he could enter the facility. And his blood boiled when he saw Averill looking so lost in one corner. He scanned the room, and there was Kyle, looking at Isabella fiercely. Looked like they had an argument. “WHO KILLED MY DAUGHTER?!” Isabella shouted. Leon looked around again and saw a woman lying dead on the floor. ‘So she died. What a waste.’ Leon thought, thinking about the charges he could have done to put the woman forever behind bars. “You’re still thinking of Yanna in this situation? For Pete's sake, Isabella! They are holding you as their hostage!” “I do
Kyle’s eyes were sharp as he stared at the woman’s crying face. His jaw clenched as he gritted his teeth. He could feel his muscles tremble in anger. Why is another man touching what was his? Why are they touching Isabella? What is going on here? He could not think straight. He stared at the gun in his hand and looked at the three people that were left on his side. In an instant, he pointed the gun at them. Karl was alarmed by his sudden movement but was immediately caught off guard when Kyle killed the three remaining people on his side. Why? Why did he kill them? Karl could not wrap it around his head. Why would Kyle Jackson kill these people when they are his allies? This is crazy. Kyle Jackson is an absolute madman with lots of screws lost in his head. Karl signaled his men to approach Averill and Noah. Kyle is yet to notice them. He is still busy looking at the men which he killed. “One more step, and you’ll follow them.” Karl’s men halted. Was he watching? Jackson was watch
Averill looked at him with wide eyes. She could feel her entire body go cold as she trembled hands touched Noah. “Are you okay?” Noah asked, still worrying about the woman, albeit the circumstance. “What are you even saying? Why did you do that?” She cried, Averill saw Yanna pointing the gun at her, but Noah was too fast to cover her from the bullet. And in a blink of an eye. Everything happened. “No… no… no, no, no, NO!!” Everyone looked at Kyle when he started acting odd. His eyes shake as he stares at the two people on the floor. One is covered in blood while the other is covered in tears. Kyle’s hands were shaking. He pulled his hair and glared at Yanna. “You! “How dare you!” he shouted. “How dare you touch my target!” His eyes were dark as he pinned his nails on Yanna’s arms. He could see nothing but the fact that Yanna pulled the trigger against Averill, and it hit Noah. His targets were touched by another person. Kyle is this type of crazy person. He never wanted anyone t
Mason did not move, Kyle was too swift that he did not notice him in front of him and grabbed his gun. They fought with each other as Kyle’s men started swarming with the other men that were left in Noah’s group. Chaos started to sip in, plates and glasses were shattered. Tables were wrecked. Chairs were thrown. It was total chaos inside while the men fought each other. Noah hugged Averill in one corner. “You should have not said that. You were provoking him!” “Why are we here, Noah?”“What?”“We’re here to get Yanna. But what are you doing?” Averill looked at him. She pushed him away from her. “Stop protecting me. When we learned about Kyle, we expected this already, that’s why we asked Shiloah to bring her to New York.”“Averill—”“If you’re gonna tell me to be careful. I am. I am already doing that so stop being a coward. We just need Yanna. You’ve let her loose for so long.” She stood up and walked away, she grabbed a stick and went her way to Yanna.Kyle was there, sitting by th
