"Hello. Denzel speaking."
The bold and authoritative voice of Denzel came in through the receiver, bringing Janelle to a jolt.
"Hey, Dee. What's up?" She nervously shifted on her seat and looked at Candace who sat beside her at the exclusive restaurant. There was a brief silence and Janelle was holding her breath like she was waiting for another shoe to drop.
"Jay? What's up? What happened to your phone? Did you change you number?"
"No. This is Candy's."
"Oh, okay. So, are you alright?"
"Yeah, I'm good. How are you?"
He was silent. And he does that whenever he's trying to figure out something about her attitude. Janelle held her breath again, hoping he won't notice how nervous she was.
"Is this about last night?"
Great. There goes my shabby pretense. She thought with a sigh.
"Yes, it is. I'm so sorry I acted like that. You know I won't have, if I were in my right senses."
He chuckled. "It’s okay. You were drunk. And you weren't in your right state of mind, so I understand. How are you doing?"
"I'm cool. Hanging out with Candy. But she will be off soon. Her lunch break will he over soon. So, I'm here. All alone. Tara has a photo shoot tonight, so she won't be free."
There was another silence. Okay, Denzel wasn't the talking type.
"But if you have something doing, then it’s fine. I'll just hang out with James." Candace's head shot up to look at her. Weird. The lady was very reserved and never let's her life come out open. Janelle feels open with Tara than Candace. But she had agreed to keep her company she just had to agree with her.
"James is already on his way to China. Didn't he tell you he was leaving? The company is opening a new company in China."
He didn't. She thought. James only told her that he was travelling to China. He didn't say when.
She let out a nervous laugh. "Yeah, he did! I forgot. Sorry, the alcohol is still getting to me." She said.
Again, he was silent. "Okay, just wait for me and I'll he there in thirty minutes."
Her eyes lit up. "Okay. I'm at the same restaurant I usually hang out with the girls."
"Sure. See you there."
She smiled and hung up with a cheerful smile at Candace. "He's coming." Candace laughed. "You know, I'm still confused. I don't know if it's James or Denzel. You really have him wrapped around you fingers."
Janelle grinned. "Jealous?"
Candace laughed. "Yeah, right." She rolled her eyes. "So, what's this about James? You suddenly got too sad."
"James travelled to China. He didn't tell me about it. Well, he did but not that he's going so soon." Janelle said, and sighed.
Candace frowned and whispered something. Then she looked up and smiled at Janelle.
"Well, sorry about that. But this girl here has to go back to work. My lunch break is over. And I don't want to be a third wheel." Candace said and winked.
Janelle laughed while her friend picked up her handbag and was heading to the exit.
"In your dreams, slut!"
She called after her.
"Later, bitch!" Candace teased back.

Denzel opened the door and stepped aside for her to come in. Not that he was expecting her but when she sounded like she was crying on the phone and mentioned James, he knew that something was wrong.
He made a mental note to stay away from her and cut their relationship to a limit but the lady kept coming and he still had a problem saying no to her.
The last time they had spoken on the phone and she lied about knowing of James trip, he felt like hitting some senses into the young man for treating his fiancée like the handkerchief he usually has in his pocket. Even though she lied, he was no fool. James had messed up big time and there was no doubt that he had done it again.
She made straight for the sofa, folded her legs beneath her thighs and flung her purse aside, folding her arms and sulking like a child. He smiled at that. He admired her childish behavior all the time.
But James hates it.
Janelle had no idea she could stop time when she passes by.
He cleared his throat. "What happened?" He asked.
"James hasn't called me in four days ! He said he would call but not even a flash appeared in my phone. I don't even know if he's okay or not and I've been trying to reach him, but he's not picking up."
"Oh, maybe he's busy." He said, scratching the back of his head.
Janelle looked at him like he had just fallen from the moon. "Too busy to pick my calls? Or even call back. Haba! That's too much nao. Its not fair!"
"I'm sure he will call back. Calm down." He said.
She opened her mouth to say something but her eyes grew wide when she saw something behind him.
Denzel turned and found Tara standing in front of the kitchen in an apron. She smiled up at them.
"Hey, Tara. I heard your voice from the kitchen. How are you?"
She said.
Janelle slowly stood up. He knew that shocked look on her face and it simply said 'since when' . Denzel stepped backwards and she smiled up at him.
A fake smile. He thought.
"Hello, Tara. When did you come back. Did you even travel?"
Janelle said.
Tara scoffed. "Of course. Came back last night. I came to see Denzel."
"Really?" The question was directed at Denzel. "That's great."
Tara smiled. "Well, I'll be in the kitchen."
Tara walked back into the kitchen.
Janelle quickly picked up her purse and was heading for the door when Denzel's hands on her waist pulled her back.
"Hey, what's wrong? You're upset."
"I'm not upset. Just don't want to spoil your entertainment."
"Stop sounding like that. Tara isn't staying. She'll be gone before you notice."
"Leave me alone, Denzel. I didn't even know you're dating her."
"What? I'm not." He said immediately.
"And she's cooking for you? Denzel, I've got to go. Call me back." She left immediately.
He sighed and raked his fingers through his hair. She said she wasn't upset but she'd just called him Denzel. And she only didn't that when she was upset.
Janelle scolded herself as she drove home that night. She couldn't believe she was angry. At what exactly? She had never been jealous of Denzel's numerous girlfriends before and Denzel has many. Tara's presence came as a shock to her, she told herself. Tara don't even tell her she was back from Benin. And Denzel was dating her? She felt hurt but couldn't understand why."Ugh! He's your fiancée's cousin, not your boyfriend, Silly."She told herself. And she acted like a love sick bitch. HerHer cellphone rang and she rolled her eyes at the caller ID, then picked up."Hey, Tara. Done cooking?""Hey, Babe. You just left like the speed of light. Where are you?" She asked."On my way home. What's up?""Come over to out usual spot."She sighed. "Okay. On my way." She made a turn after hanging up.°°°"What?!" Candace exclaimed a
Janelle walked into his house again Two days later. One thing she liked about him, was that he never pushed her away for wanting to spend time with him. Since their childhood, Denzel had always been her best friend. Even after having two girlfriends, he was still her other best friend. The one who could talk with her for as long as she wants. He shut the door behind him and followed her to the living room. She turned around and sighed. He was in his sweat pants and was totally shirtless."I'm sorry. I know it’s late and I shouldn't be here but, I just needed to talk to someone." She said.He nodded, with his hands on his pockets. "Did you sneak out of the house again?" He asked. Denzel knew that attitude was still there. She shrugged. "Old habits die hard. I'm sorry, I know I'm causing an inconvenience." She sighed and sat on the sofa.He sat beside her. "What is it?""It’s James. He hasn't called. I'm worried
She blew offa frustrated sigh as she stepped out of her car the next morning, ignoring the greeting the maids gave to her on her way into the house. Why was it so hard to focus on her fiancé? Janelle tried to forget about what happened last night. Anyone would think that she had gotten a good night's sleep but it all had to do with a tall, light skinned handsome guy with a tattoo on his left arm and left chest, invading her thought all through the night. She paused at the bottom of the stairs and sighed, trying to get her mind at ease. It didn't help that he had to be the one to wake her up this morning with a tray of breakfast. That didn't help at all, because she had suddenly started getting the thought that perhaps, he could be this sweet to Tara.Stop being a bitch. She's your friend for crying out loud! She told herself."I can't believe this." She muttered to herself and walked up the stairs.James had
The door opened and Janelle's mum smiled her way into the room. Janelle, who was still busy with her designs, looked up from her mum and gave her a weak smile. She was still feeling very bad after her brief and disturbing encounter with Tope. The thought stuck with her even after Tara had assured her that it was nothing of the sort. Tara had always been good at making her feel better. And even after they had gone off to Candy's, she was of no help at all. She rolled her eyes and sat up reluctantly. It wasn't new to her anymore that her parents were early at home. Most times, they were hardly at home for close to a year. Her parents had their own businesses and had it going well for them. Her mum owned a fashion house and that's where Janelle got her talent and passion for fashion and clothes. Her father was a very popular owner of an oil company. It was going well for him too and he travelled most of the time. That's how t
"The baddest!" Douglas hailed on his way towards Denzel and James who were both sitting at the counter of their usual club. He just returned from China and it was time for a guys' night out since none of them had gotten any time to hang out much. Each was either busy or not in the country at the moment. Douglas – one of the Morgan twins, – walked into the club with his twin brother, Ethan. While Denzel hardly spent time with them, while they were growing up, Douglas would rather spend his time in his father's study. He preferred the four walls of an empire. The Morgan Empire that had been on for generations has continued to remain strong with the help of these four handsome bachelors; Denzel, James, Douglas and Ethan. They weren't identical so it was easy to tell from the Casanova to
Janelle was heartbroken, trying so hard to forget what she had seen in there. And it seemed like she was still hearing the moaning of both James and the bitch. She squeezed her eyes shut and covered her ears with her palms, so tight, her head was throbbing. But she still heard them. Moaning loudly like two wolves on a full moon. She turned around to leave, although a part of her wanted to walk in there and scream at them and possibly kill someone and face the consequence. But she walked away still. Her cellphone shook in her hands. She wanted to go downstairs and drink it all away, but she will have to pass the guys and Candace and her face will certainly give her away. She wasn't in the mood for some pity talk tonight. She pulled out her cellphone, thinking of whom to call. The only person she had always
James sighed and pulled out of her in content. She had filled him in a way he never could imagine. One thing he loved about Tope was her sexy ass body and her large ass. He didn't forget to add the fact that she was so good in bed. The last time he had felt this good was two weeks ago with a Chinese prostitute who had all it takes to take him to the top. Another had been a businesswoman, he had to seal a deal with. There was no way he could do that without having a go with his dumb and stupid secretary who coup give information at the sight of a big sized dick. One which he had. But, Tope reminded him of his former lover. That was the last time he had a long term lover. He could still feel her touch on his skin and yet she was way older than him. Way older. Yeah, she had a daughter. Someone he was still yet to find.
"Will you be fine?" Tara asked.Janelle nodded and forced a smile at her friend who had taken her home. Thankfully, her mother wasn't at home and Nana had provably gone to bed. "Yes, Tara. I'll be okay. Thank you for bringing me home.""Don't give me that face. The more you do that, the more I'm compelled to stay the night.""I'm not an invalid and I don't have an accident. I'm okay." She said and laughed. Tara smiled, though she wasn't convinced yet. And part of her wanted to stay back."Okay, I'm staying the night.""No, no. It's fine. I'm okay, really.""I'm not staying for you. I'm staying because I want to be here when James arrives so I can have a reason to break his nose; something I've been dying to do for years."Tara said and walked to the he'd, threw herself on it and sighed happily."Right. That's a very good way of showing your selfish love." Janelle said and joined
