Chapter 6

After school, I would keep him in the classroom to finish his homework, spending an hour tutoring him. On weekends, I would video call him to make sure he completed his assignments.

Zac would half-heartedly complain while grinning, saying, "I just love listening to my seatmate!" He had this mischievous look about him.

But the results were obvious. By midterms, Zac was scoring above 60 in every subject.

He jumped three feet in the air and hugged me tightly. "Ah, my genius seatmate! This is the first time I’ve ever passed all my classes!

"What do you want as a gift? How about I treat you to dinner at Central House? The food there is amazing.

"Wait until I show this report card to my parents. It’ll blow their minds! Haha!"

Zac kept going on and on, celebrating his success, while I blushed and gently slipped out of his embrace.

I sat back down, pressing my right hand to my chest, trying to calm my racing heart.
